It’s a Blackwidow X Chroma Mercury edition by Razer that I customized to look like the aurora whenever I boot up the game. It’s hella cool. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072JWR7Y5/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_hws8Bb0ZV9DR1
This is my first (and custom) Relentless Night Mod run. And loving it so far! It's great that you can make the inside of buildings equally as cold as the outside but with a heat retention mechanism in case you used a stove and it ran out of fuel.
Why would you have a cabin at 1 degree when it's -30 outside and no one has lived in there for God knows how long... that always bugged me a bit.
Fully customizable and highly recommended!
EDIT: Here's the link, forgot.
TLD's code is not open source, so I really don't see how I could link to it. I can give you some instructions how to see the game's decompiled source code for yourself, though:
<your TLD install directory>/tld_Data/Managed/Assembly-CSharp.dll
in that decompiler.TreatAfflictionWithFirstAid
method in the PlayerManager
class, and see how the code makes its way to the OnFirstAidCompleted
method in the Inventory
class without ever checking the condition of the item. This is the first time I've heard of someone thinking the character moves too fast. I beat the absolute hell out of my character with sprinting. Calorie consumption and fatigue is usually pretty high.
Stim sprinting is supposed to feel like Usain Bolt. It's an injectable dose of steroids similar to adrenaline. If someone doesn't react with an immediate burst of energy the only explanation is they're legally dead.
With that said, there is umod which features "bullet time." I'm uncertain if that can be stretched out long term and it may even be way slower than you desire.
Sorry, got busy at work. From the original post:

For Windows use TLD save editor to move your person to a different location, doesn't require modding or patching TLD for this circumstance. Dev of it is active here too.
If you wanna know If a game you want or own can run in your PC, you can easily find out by using "Can You Run It" (http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri). It will tell you if your computer meets the minimum or recommended system requirements for any game.
Are you on PC? The TLD Save Editor makes it possible to teleport to a different location on the map. I used it once when I got stuck between rocks and the game saved when I sprained an ankle trying to wiggle out.
Yeah. It's an unofficial tool so use at your own risk, blah, blah. Don't log any bugs with the developers of the game if you have modified something.
It's pretty neat. You can do things like add items that you wouldn't get, so you could start an Interloper game save somewhere. Exit TLD then use the save editor to give yourself a rifle and some bullets. One of the best features is being able to move your player if you get stuck.
https://www.moddb.com/mods/the-long-dark-save-editor-2
There are other mods but they require a bit more work to get installed, search this sub for mods and you'll see plenty of references.
You might want to check out the Relentless Night mod then. As the planet's rotation slows down, days and nights progressively get longer, until the end game starts, when the Earth is tidally locked and you're stuck in eternal night.
Well there's the old place bedroll trick, place it on the floor and sleep on that and see if it moves you. Most of the time that just saves somewhere you don't want to however worth a shot.
If you're on Windows you can try the save editor
https://www.moddb.com/mods/the-long-dark-save-editor-2/downloads/tld-save-editor-2100-v129
Also don't know if this has been tested on Vigilant but give it a shot.

You don't need to actually edit your save file, just load it, and it will show difficulty level and code, if it's custom. Kinda funny that we need save editor for this functionality.
I don't wanna be THAT person but instead of taking a picture of your screen, you should use Lightshot
It's easier and better. I hope I helped. Looks pretty though.
A notification was sent out from NVIDIA and from Valve letting all developers know about streaming on GFN and if they wanted to opt-out they could. This is entirely Hinderland's fault and them wanting to double dip in the license to purchase, and the license to stream. Keep in mind other services that are less well known, such as Shadow, where they give you a dedicated PC in the cloud for streaming has had no issue with these developers that are pulling out of GFN. This is entirely a money grab for all of them, and hurtful for consumers. Services like GFN will only succeed if it's profitable. It's going to be much less profitable if NVIDIA has to pay for GPU, hardware infrastructure, network infrastructure, and now has to work out agreements with developers to pay them. A large reason why Netflix increased their subscription, stopped licensing tons of content within the first few years of their service, and likely why they started their own studios and exclusives. It will be even harder for NVIDIA as there are a lot more developers and indie developers, whereas Netflix bought out licensing from major studios.
The Save editor lets you change the Experience Mode (difficulty) of your save file, though I never played around with so I am not sure how changing it affects your game. It does not seem like you can set a custom game experience mode with it though.
Well there is the Relentless Night mod that makes everything go perpetually dark over time, you can do custom games with it. I think Shieldhart was working on a sequel to it.

Has the Halloween event been announced for this year?
As an aside I went to install it with Mod-Installer 0.3.0 to check also and got this message.
"DOWNLOAD: https://www.moddb.com/downloads/mirror/138754/114/932175ae61561d2667de6119aee18107 org.springframework.web.client.HttpClientErrorException: 410 Gone FINISHED"
I do this regularly. You only need to copy the save00X folders back and forth. Copying the user001 folder will move your graphics settings and UI settings, which you may not want.
The Mac files are located at:
~/.local/share/Hinterland/TheLongDark.
You can use Go to Path in Finder to open that folder: http://osxdaily.com/2011/08/31/go-to-folder-useful-mac-os-x-keyboard-shortcut/
They're always located around water. Maybe you just missed them, this is what they look like.
I can't say with any amount of certainty when controller support will be added, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were refining the UI and controls themselves a bit more before adding controller support.
That being said, I have Pinnacle. I have not had the time to map a profile for TLD and likely won't for some time, but you can request a profile in their forums, and someone will create one for you. I believe there is a stickied post at the top of that forum with all of the information you need to provide.
Hope that helps!
Unless someone has the coordinates readily available there's another way to find them. Hushed River Valley can be entered by passing through a cave in Mountain Town. It's located between the Mobile Home and Spruce Falls Bridge. You can use UMod to check up the coordinates to the cave entrance.
Yeah wish they would give you a reset character command. If you're on PC (I think this one is Windows only) you can use this save editor to move your position.
https://www.moddb.com/mods/the-long-dark-save-editor-2/downloads/tld-save-editor-2100-v129
Also don't know if this has been tested on Vigilant but give it a shot.
Some more hardcore options would be nice, modding would be an easy answer and I wish it was better supported, the Relentless Night is a good one that ramps up difficulty over time until eventually it becomes unlivable https://www.moddb.com/mods/relentlessnight
AutoHotKey is your friend. I found this script on a steam forum which works perfectly.
#Persistent Wdown = 0 `:: if (Wdown = 0) { Wdown = 1 send, {w up} } else { Wdown = 0 send, {w down} } return
Well, I got it from Amazon, from a company that lets you design your own mug. Here is the link, but I don't know if it really works. Because the store is in Germany and the site is the German Amazon. I'm German by the way. The image I used is from Google images. Just type in Hinterland logo and then the second result should be the image I used. https://www.amazon.de/Metall-Tasse-gestalten-Personalisierbar-Bedrucken-Motivtasse/dp/B07GGQQ371?pd\_rd\_w=BWULH&content-id=amzn1.sym.995b3ade-87fd-4685-9950-c7995e7b483c&pf\_rd\_p=995b3ade-87fd-4685-9950-c7995e7b483c&pf\_rd\_r=TRTM0XS...

I mean, they make stuff like this, but even if you could map the controls to it, I think your experience would be really awful.
If you don't like keyboard and mouse, any reason why you don't just use an xbox controller?
Highly recommend! Here it is
It's amazing! I use all the keys and it runs smooth like butter -- highly recommend!
Russian ground forces lol. Got it on Amazon for $300 CAD and it comes with pants and jacket. Search VKPO Layer 8 and scroll a bit then you should find it. When I got it all the tags were Russian and the suit was hydrophobic as claimed so I think it’s real this is the one I’m talking about
Hello, I'm a bot! The movie you linked is called Temps Mort, here are some Trailers

You can make do without it, as long as you can make it to a house / place with a bed. If you can't find another, I can't remember if there were more then yes you can try TLDsaveeditor2 (PC) and add one to your inventory. Unofficial tool, use at your own risk blah, blah.
I believe you have to be using the Steam version of TLD but the save editor may have been updated for the Windows store version too.
It's pretty straight forward, with TLD not running load your save then do what you need to / add an item or qty of items then hit save. You can do some interesting stuff like play Interloper with a rifle, or if you're finding it too hard to learn at the beginning give yourself some food or warm clothes.

Relentless Night
This is a gameplay mod for The Long Dark that introduces a new sandbox scenario where the spin of the Earth is slowing down. Slowly but surely, days and nights are getting longer over time, leading to a world with continuously changing temperatures, weather patterns, wildlife populations, and more.
As the world slows, each longer-dark brings even colder temperatures to the Canadian North, huge temperature distributions in the atmosphere start to give way to stronger winds and blizzards, even adapted wildlife slowly start to disappear as they succumb to the worsening conditions of the cold nights.
The player, realizing what is happening, must take advantage of the longer days and the warmer temperatures to prepare for the next even longer and colder dark. All of this eventually leads to the final challenge where all your preparation will really determine how long you survive - The planet finally slows down enough to become tidally locked with the sun, with the survivor now left in the perpetual darkness of the new “dark side of Earth”, and its ever-worsening and frigid conditions.
You may not want to, but for glitches I have seen people recommend save editor 2. You could open your game and just add the bedroll back in your inventory.
https://www.moddb.com/mods/the-long-dark-save-editor-2
Close TLD. Open the save editor and select the save file you want to edit. Go to inventory tab, add the items you want. Press save. Play TLD.
No, well one of the early access updates wiped my saves but not from a crash.
If you're on PC (Windows) you can use the (https://www.moddb.com/mods/the-long-dark-save-editor-2) to put your person on a different map, give yourself items in your inventory and change your skills / feats. Note not supported by Hinterland so no logging bugs if stuff happens.
this is a link to a community created app that has the maps for EVERY region including big indoor areas (hydro dam, steam tunnels, mines) and transition zones! as someone with a terrible sense of direction, its saving my ass! extended night compainion
TLD save editor should be able to adjust items in your inventory. https://www.moddb.com/mods/the-long-dark-save-editor-2
UmodTLD will do that too (+/- keys) to increase or decrease the number of items.
Hello, I'm a bot! The movie you linked is called The Fourth Kind, here are some Trailers
I have pretty wickedly messed up wrists and prefer a controller as well. I read recently that the plan is to implement it closer to the EA launch than the full release...Sooo hopefully that means it'll be here soon, but I haven't seen a roadmap myself.
I'm sure you know about this, but in the meantime, you could use third party software like the Pinnacle Game Profiler to create a custom controller setup if it's an absolute necessity. Unfortunately, I haven't tested it with TLD or created a scheme of my own, but they have a great forum. If you don't want to bother with making a scheme yourself, you can leave a request and someone will likely get to it in 2-3 days.
So after searching a bit I found this: https://www.wemod.com/cheats/the-long-dark-trainers
It looks like it may be what you are looking for you’re able to turn on and off conditions, dehydration and all that.
You can stream directly from pc to a smart TV with Remote Play. You need steam link and a controller. If you don't have a very new tv it's probably easier to spend the 20$ on a ps4 version.
LD is a great game to watch someone play :)
If you're on PC (Mac, Linux, Windows) it sounds like you'd like the Relentless Night Mod, you can play the regular difficulties or start a custom game just like in sandbox.
https://www.moddb.com/mods/relentlessnight/downloads/relentless-night-v301-133
OK.
1, Just as a precaution, install a temperature monitor like Open Hardware Monitor and make sure you are not cooking your CPU/GPU.
2, Make sure all your drivers and BIOS are up to date. Make sure you have all the latest Windows updates.
3, Google and see if anyone else is having freezes with your CPU/MB/GPU combo. TLD runs on Unity so anyone with similar problems running a game with that engine would be relevant.
FPS drop during dialogue could suggest it taking a while to load and/or process assets. It feels like you have some sort of bottle neck. Unity (like most game engines) I would expect that it load all Assets at the start of the level, so I would think its not your hard drive, but more an bottle neck between RAM,CPU and/or GPU
Other things is that its probably not an issue with the game, so test other games and see if they have the same issue. Unity has some demos that you could use for testing: https://unity3d.com/unity/demos
If the issue is only with TLD, then I am at a loss.
Good luck

It's not full yet. You can put more in, there are more than 12 places. It might be a glitch if you are not able to.
No, you can use free macro software to do it no need for a special keyboard afaik. Like this never used it because my keyboard came with its own configuring utility, but this should do the job for making a macro that just holds 'W' for you when you do control and some other key for example.
Sure. First, here's the script (I'll explain a little more about it below):
; Autowalk for The Long Dark
#SingleInstance Force #IfWinActive ahk_exe tld.exe ; works only when TLD is the active window
XButton1::
SendInput % "{w " ( (autowalk:=!autowalk) ? "down" : "up" ) "}"
Return
#if autowalk ; PERFORMANCE capture these keystrokes only when autowalk is active w:: s:: i:: SendInput {%A_ThisHotkey%} autowalk:=0 SendInput {w up} Return space:: autowalk:=0 SendInput {w up} SendInput {%A_ThisHotkey% down} Return
#if
None of this code runs if TLD is not the active window. (I often just leaving it running on my PC, seems very lightweight.)
XButton1 is the 4th mouse button, and it's what toggles Autowalk on/off. You can just edit the script to change it to a different key or mouse button. See https://autohotkey.com/docs/KeyList.htm for the names AutoHotKey uses for other keys/mouse buttons.
w, s, i (inventory) and space (radial) all stop autowalk too. Again, edit the script if you use a different keys for these. In addition, the key itself is also sent to the game, so the thing you wanted that key press to do actually happens.
If you enter/exit a building or change zones while autowalking, you won't be autowalking any more after you load in. Just hit your autowalk key again twice and away you go.
i could see these being used for some heavy duty gardening or outdoor work
I just checked Amazon.com and saw this listing for $32 https://www.amazon.com/Potato-Ketchup-Family-3-Pack-Canada/dp/B07JGCKYGR/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3COGH5MK96VZD&dchild=1&keywords=ketchup+chips&qid=1608681950&sprefix=Ketchup%2Caps%2C228&sr=8-1
The chips themselves cost around $3 a bag in Ontario, and I just checked the cost of shipping on UPS, and it was around $22 CAD. So $31 CAD vs. $32USD, yeah there are a bit of savings to be had but unfortunately not too much.
it’s a bit expensive, but if you have the money, i use Turtle Beach Stealth 600s
https://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Stealth-Wireless-Surround-Gaming-Headset/dp/B071ZRTMXF
that’s the amazon link for them. i can’t recommend these enough. they are the best headphones i’ve ever used, hands down
also make sure you press and hold the sync button on the xbox, and press and hold the sync button on your headphones. hold em both at the same time. the headphones i use though are super easy to connect though
You could always buy a cheapy USB-C keyboard if you really want to use the journal feature (it may or may not work for TLD I don't know). I use this same keyboard both for my Switch and main PC.
Also the "game not pausing" thing is really not a big deal. I've found that once I've gotten into the game there's a lot of downtime in safe areas. I usually write my daily journal entries right before resting so it also saves the game.
