Taking the mod's gig huh?!!!?
I WILL NOT ALLOW THIS!!!
I'm kidding. I'm not even doing tours anymore. But for those who want to know more about Tijuana from the perspective of a tour guide, here's my book.
Best of luck and I hope you don't get any weirdos!
OMG! It's changed so much. Video and audio is a huge part of my business model and it's gotten so good (at least in Rosarito) that I can work outside using the wifi strength of my house.
The wifi is also good in a few cafe's and restaurants in Rosarito.
I am on the east coast taking care of business and partly (I will admit) networking.
I long for the beauty of the region. The issue is the networking.
I am of the opinion that if even a core group of 5 or 10 people can come back to the area (and each one of these 5 people bring on board 5 people), we can get good hub going.
It makes so much sense if you are already in southern California and bootstrapping to move down (even for a period). Or do 6 months on either side of the border.
Just go to http://www.expatistan.com and compare SD and TJ prices....
Si, para el libro de Matingas. https://www.amazon.com/Tijuana-Adventure-Confessions-Tour-Guide-ebook/dp/B084F5K582
A little about the picture and Norte:
I did this photoshoot exactly one year ago for my book "Tijuana Adventure: Confessions of a Tour Guide." The model is "Amay" and you can buy her prints through her Instagram (here). It happened in Norte Brewing Co who is going strong on five years now. The place where the brewery is, used to be a strip club that I never visited but I have heard wild stories about. You can still see where the poles used to be on the ceiling of the place. Supposedly, where the windows are, was the lapdance space and the view was covered (someone can correct me if I'm wrong).
My book is on discount for the next few days at $1.99 (buy here). If you read it and liked it, please leave a review. If you hated it, also please leave a review and let me know why.
2020 was a doozy...! We were supposed to have a Reddit cross-border meetup in March that got canceled for obvious reasons. As soon as we are able and we have a green light (hoping for this summer) we will try again.
Hire a tour guide like Tijuana Adventure!
Except I'm not doing tours right now because of the pandemic and a group of 10 is too big.
And since I can't do tours... I recommend you read this book for ideas of what Tijuana can be like.
Ive been visiting Tijuana for along time now, I usually go and stay at a house in a section called Playas, which is very close to the beach. I rent this small comfortable house, has everything, very clean. It goes for about $140 a night https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/10548051
I don't live in playas but I have fiber internet from Telnor and it's stable and reliable on a wired connection. For wifi I bought google nest since wifi range and speed was poor. https://www.speedtest.net/result/9893161404.png
No conozco OP. Quiero compartir su campaña. Entiendo que toda la ayuda. Buena suerte OP!
i just used it last week, bc in tijuana the bathrooms are scary, i found a couple of places that have modern clean rooms and renovated bathrooms here is one place i stayed at it was clean and the owner wasnt a scary https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/10548051
There are a lot of meetups for that and there were a lot of posts on this sub about it (sex talk is banned because it's annoying as fuck to get posts every day of "who wants to go to HK with me?").
I'm not sure what sub they use for strip club meetups. I know they started using telegram. And I know there are a few outside Reddit.
I used to do the strip club tours. I will still do to the right person (group) and the right price. I've done more than 25 bachelor parties and I can't anymore unless $$$$. You can read about all the craziness, here.

Hey.
I'm the mod of this sub and guide of this city. I charge $150+ for my services. I wrote a book about Tijuana and being a guide here. [You can find it on Amazon](amazon.com/Tijuana-Adventure-Confessions-Tour-Guide-ebook/dp/B084F5K582). I have been doing tours since 2012. For more, send me a message.
I also have my YouTube, but it's all about craft beer. Find that here.
Easy solution but they'll still be able to tell you're using a VPN if they want to check. Buy a router. The ISP router is always low tier trash. Buy a more expensive one with VPN and proxy capabilities. Install the VPN on your router, and have fun. Shop around. I believe NordVPN is good, but get one that you can use on Netflix.
Chapter 20 of my book is Tacos. I've written about tacos a lot. Maybe I should write a book just about tacos and beer.
Unfortunately I need to access specific US sites that only allow users within the US and they can detect VPN (I use ExpressVPN) so I’ll have to cross the border to be able to log in but looks like there may be a few spots near the boarder that could pick up US signal
Caele. Te invito sin miedo.
Do you expect to stream in the hotel? Windscribe gives 10 GB a month for free, just by confirming an email address, no card required, and ProtonVPN has an unlimited but slow free tier. Though I'm confused why you can't afford a mere $2 a month (Windscribe's Build A Plan with a single country for exit node) or $5 a month (ProtonVPN's Basic Plan) if you can afford a hotel room.
You probably don't even need a VPN, most apps and sites you use already use HTTPS so the hotel and their ISP at most only know what domain you're visiting, not the passwords or exact page you're viewing.
Hey hey!
You are looking for me. The mod of this sub and overall guide/historian (somewhat) of the city.
I charge $150 so that's your target. I'll drive you around and tell you all I know.
Here's my book if you wanna know how it was to move to Tijuana (from SD) for me. It's 99 cents this week (digital).
Thanks for that information. When you say everything is computerized and been for a long time, how many years are you talking about?

Well if my plan is to get from Chicago to Tijuana, its still flight to San Diego. Then do you recommend trolley or uber/lyft to the cbx crossing? I will have big luggage though as with like a checked bag when flying but will probably have messenger bag with me as well... computer etc. So would that be uncomfortable on the trolley?

Wait so if you drive through the border crossing, they still check your passport right? I saw some video where a guy was driving and he said they just waived him in etc... it didn't look like they even checked his passport etc. Well im talking about like the new computerized system that is in effect at all the Mexico airports like Mexico City, Cancun etc which I heard is more synchronized and updated now. Such that is that the same with the land border crossing? That is what I want to know.

Well how much is the taxi cost and time after immigration/customs area to your Tijuana hotel? I been checking hotels.com site but not sure how far everything is etc. I want one thats average and not expensive as im planning to stay probably ten days.
I like Signal and it's encryption. One of the reason I selected Telegram is because you can sign up by user name and not phone number. I know some people might not what to give theirs out. There is also KIK but that app is to damn slow in groups. I wanted something fast and easy to use and also private. I use WhatsApp but that works off a phone number and not a user name.
What device are you using? You might have to power cycle it. Here is a list of what works https://unlocator.com/channels/?country=show-all&supported-device=show-all&channel-category=show-all&subscription-requirement=show-all
The last chapters of my book are about tacos and beers.
The easy one, go to Telefonica, Lirica brewery is in there and the octopus tacos are very good.
Besides that, go to downtown (Avenida Revolución). Most breweries move there. In order from north to south Border Psycho, Mamut, Norte, Insurgente, Mexica, Cervezartistas, Madueño, Kaminari, Teorema, 93', and there's more.
As for tacos...
Way too many and that thread has been written already.

This book is your bachelor party manual.
It really depends on the bachelor and the party vibe. I've done more than 20 bachelor parties and you have a plethora of options, from easy brewery hopping to lavishly rent a penthouse or airbnb and party for two nights straight.
Tijuana is your oyster for bachelor parties.
for any android user reading this in the future, there's apps that let you switch network bands.
ive used these two but there's many.

No. Tomorrow is a weekend. It'll be full all day. Your best bet is very early in the morning like 07:00. Farmacia Roma at 5 y Constitución Is open 24 hours.
Here's a fun fact: if you download the CBP app you can see estimated wait times and averages typical for that time.

Food and beer is the reason I live in Tijuana. Options are endless!!!
Some that people didn't mention that I like:
It feels easier to tell you where not to eat than where to go eat. So many options. For more food, drink, and TJ stuff... I wrote a book about it (here).
Yes. More info in my book.
Also, head over to /r/tijuanahookers for the intel.
You can buy it on Amazon, here.
Digital copies are cheaper. Description of the book:
"Tijuana has consumed me, and I have consumed her. To this day, I continue my love relationship with this bizarre misconstrued city, discovering new dives, restaurants, breweries, street tacos, and more. Accompany me as I narrate my last decade living in Tijuana, not only as a tour guide showing people from around the world the wonders of Zona Norte (the red light district), but as a writer for a local magazine, music festival organizer, dealing with la policía, crazy roommates, lovers, gayness, being a mini-pimp translator, drugs, and beer drinker.
All stories are true. The price of the book reflects Tijuana’s area code, 664."
Thanks to all who have bought it already!
Hey Tijuana,
Your mod wrote a book about all the Tijuana shenanigans I've been up to for the past 10 years. This sub gets mentioned once.
It is available on Amazon as a digital download.
Here's a link.
Yeah I am sure some people will be bootlegging it on youtube live and periscope or whatever. I found a site called stream2watch. Was unwatchable due to an ad blocking the stream, until I went into devtools and added a style to hide #html1. But if necessary there are like 5 restaurants within 100 feet so I might actually go outside for it LOL. Or maybe I will try Unlocator anyway.
I don't have any type of antenna (or TV). I do have Izzi internet also. Maybe I will look into Unlocator -- it looks really cool. I was trying to avoid subscribing to any VPN or anything just for the Super Bowl because I normally don't watch TV and I still have a lot of Netflix to catch up on. So I would probably end up cancelling it. And I may only watch five minutes of the Super Bowl. I used to have a VPN which I thought worked fine but I really didn't need it so I cancelled it.
Right I have ad block of course. That one site had a way to prevent any stream from showing with adblock on so I had to turn it off.
Does Unlocator work with CBS Sports HQ and stuff for you? It seems to be saying I am not in the US still after I changed my DNS to the Unlocator ones.
Yea, I really dislike that you can't use your own modem. When I was living in the states, I had this neat Arris Docsis 3.0 modem that was amazing! Izzi locks it down as well. HOWEVER, I have an Ubiquiti access point that I installed because the range was completely useless. All the access point does is generate it's own Wi-Fi network and has a way stronger range than the stock router Izzi provided.
Installation is super easy, too. Simply plug the access point to your modem, install the Ubiquiti software on a PC, load up the software and you'll see the access point through there. Then it's just a matter of giving the Wi-Fi network a name and password. Don't let the "Enterprise" label scare you.
Do you live in Tijuana?
