>She's connected to one of the two widescreen monitors in said office, but is on "duplicate" mode. It's the afternoon so I figure it's been like that all day. She'll be Riz & I'll be Me.

>Me: Hey Riz, here's the provision file...hey you know you can use that monitor as an extra screen right?
>
>Riz: Thanks, oh yea I like the extra screens because they make things bigger!

>Me: ...Right but if you wanted, you could have the monitor be extra space, like so you could look at prior and current year files at the same time.

>Me: Ok if I just show you, here <sets display to extend mode> , now see we can take this Excel and drag it over here to the other screen like so.

>I just finished watching a movie called "Handsome Devil" on Netflix. I posted about it here around two months ago when it was first announced. Anyway, it was a bit formulaic but very well acted and I was teary-eyed at the end. > >Have any of you guys seen it yet?
>This is pretty cool, Third Stone From the Sun is great, but all worth a listen if your into Hendrix.

>Hey /r/btc! > >Alex from LocalMonero here! > >We've received a lot of requests coming from this sub about creating LocalBitcoinCash. While this idea is appealing to us, we need to first make sure that the demand is there. > >In addition, if the demand is truly there then we're probably going to have to set up some sort of crowdfunding campaign for us to be able to cover the additional costs of developing and running LocalBitcoinCash. > >Our number one priority is and will probably always be Monero, as we are Monero devotees, and we will never compromise on the quality of LocalMonero by splitting our attention in two, so, perhaps, we won't be the ones actually in charge of the day-to-day operations of the site, but act more as a license provider for someone else. In any case, before these discussions can start, we're need to gauge whether the community is actually in need of this site and it's worth seriously discussing. > >EDIT: As per /u/Sparticule's request, here's a straw poll: https://strawpoll.com/4r9sczas

>So apparently the Martial deal isn't completely dead, Martial wants game time in a WC year. I don't think we'll buy him and we would have to spend ridiculous amount to get him. He says that only a minor contract issue with Celtic stands between the deal. This guy was spot on in the Sanchez deal, let's see if he's telling the truth again. >I read this excerpt from Bird by Bird back in college, and it always stuck with me--now I get my writing done twice as fast. Here’s the TLDR version for people who just can't get started on their work: > >* Nothing you write is going to sound perfect the first time. Almost 100% of the time, it’s actually going to be the shittiest thing you write for that project. >* But that’s okay! NO writer is perfect on the first try. Some people think that the world’s best writers always hit home runs on the first try, when in reality they make big steaming turds on the page and polish, polish, polish them until they turn gold. >* The hardest part is getting the words on the page. So do that—even if it’s shit—and you’re on your way to something you can be proud of. > >EDIT: Formatting for mobile > >EDIT 2: Made uncensored, by popular demand.
>It's not just about shitposting and being aware. You have to be the antithesis of these soft marxist nu-males. > >Eat well. Learn martial arts. Lift heavy things. Make money. Influence your community. You have to be a peak specimen of physical strength, charisma, and be savvy. Nothing like these soy men that make up the left. We like gloating about those studies that the left are physically weaker. Prove it. > >If you don't lift, look up Starting Strength. If you absolutely cannot afford a gym, look up Convict Conditioning or the bodyweight subreddit. > >Eat well. Eat clean, high protein, moderate fat, low carb. I don't care that you're in university. It's cheaper than you think. You're probably already spending 50+ a week on fast food and alcohol. > >Expand your mind. Learn a practical hobby, read some books on psychology and philosophy. Get a hold of the book "The 48 Laws Of Power" and "The Art of War". Do more than be a NEET who posts on social media and message boards all day. Be more than someone staring at a glowing screen and consuming digital media constantly. > >Learn a martial art. Learn two. Learn Krav Maga, it's the crossfit of martial arts and teaches you how to fuck people up defending yourself. > >Become outgoing, if you aren't. It's the same thing about sitting in front of screens. Go out. Network. Learn to talk to and influence anyone, anywhere. > >This will probably get shit on because humans are creatures of habit and comfort. You have to fight past that. You have to be something unique, because being a doughy internet addict should only be for Marxist, leftist scum. There's a time for memes, sure, in between your gym time and your fight training. > >Here's a theme song >to discuss this over.

>Over the last ten years I've been working on a series of books. Two are out now and I'm working on the third. I decided to do everything myself, from editing to cover design. I wanted to have complete artistic control and was more interested in getting my story out there than trying to get it approved by a publisher. > >Problem is I cannot get a stranger to read or review them. Very few friends have shown much interest, but nobody has severely panned me. I feel like people are just being nice. > >Besides choosing to do it all myself, what specifically isn't connecting? What isn't grabbing people? I just need a straight answer. > >Here is a link to the first. It should have a sneak preview option. At what point do you go, "Nah, this sucks"? Is it the cover? >My dad passed away 10 years ago. I came home from school to a note on the kitchen bench, my mum crying on the phone and then I heard the ambulance sirens. > >As a kid remember he would stay up at night writing and saving the files on floppy disk. When he passed he had them saved but they were password protected. Thanks to the joys of the internet I was able to use a key gen to crack the password. >I learned a lot reading this book, so before anything thank you to James N. Frey. By far the best non-fiction on writing I've ever read. Please consider purchasing the book itself (here, as no amount of notes will ever be satisfactory substitutes for reading the actual book. And quite honestly the man deserves the sales). > >Second, apologies for taking so long. A close friend of mine was having some health issues that I had to help her with, and on top of that my internship has been kicking my ass lately. So anyways here are the notes. I assumed .pdf was universal enough, but if someone needs a different format let me know and I'll oblige. > >I left out the chapters on revising/editing and "the zen of being a novelist," because I myself didn't read them. I wrote a small little checklist at the bottom of the document to ensure you hit all the marks for a 'damn good novel.' > >https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B29ZBVzB0Z-TWTVkeUtzZE1zQkE > > > >edit: I tried to make my notes as readable as possible (you should've seen them before I went through and edited them..). So I'm sorry if you can't read them, or if some parts are incomprehensible, but I did my best! I also included some screenshots of the examples the author used for parts that, I thought, demanded such. > > > >edit: Wow. Thank you to the kind stranger that gilded me. What do I do with my hands? I've never been gilded before.. > > >
>As I imagine most of us have been, I have been dying for seeing SG-1 in HD (outside of the released HD Children of the Gods and seasons 8-10), and it looks like with the recent 20th anniversary and comic con news, we may be getting it. The coins are about the size of a quarter...probably half as thick. > >This was just an initial test to see how well they turn out. The bronze/silver/gold colors were picked as this upgrade is for Machi Koro (a game me and wife play all the time) > >I cannot speak for the durability of these after painting. I'm hoping the clear coat will protect them. Since I have a ton of paint still, I'll be ordering more and trying other techniques (apply a base primer first) and testing durability. Not sure how...maybe throw them into a bag together and shake it for a while. > >I spent a good day or two looking for the cheapest metal coin upgrade I could do for my games, but there wasn't a whole lot of options....especially if you want different color coins. Custom board game coins were running $50 (Scythe, Viticulture) which I just couldn't bring myself to get. > >One downside is that there is no value printed on them, so you rely on color alone to denote value. In the amazon link, the related products have a bunch of different luck coins, all different sizes. You could always buy different sources to get size and design differences....but without painting, they are all a very similar color.
>This has been said so so so many times but I want to get it stuck into everybody's head TO NEVER BUY A CHEAP POWER SUPPLY. While cheapening out and buying used cpus/gpus etc are okay do not ever buy an unreliable power supply. I see a lot of people post that there PC's are blue screening, crashing etc and the specs look fine however they use a knock off $5 power supply. > >With EVGA and other brands putting out decent power supplies for good prices now, I would recommend spending that extra $10 on the comfort of not having to worry about a power supply setting on fire or taking your PC down with it. > >So PLEASE do not go cheap on your power supply! That is the one thing I would recommend you make sure is somewhat quality. > >EVGA has actually released a few power supplies for $20-$25 on sale and they happen quite often as well. Here is one I recommend. > >Thank you! > >edit: By cheap I mean buying from an unheard of/risky brand. Inexpensive power supplies with a good brand behind it with good reviews are not cheap.
>Ever since I watched this video of a boxer getting motivated in the corner between rounds by his coach, it fascinated me. The focus of the boxer, the energy of the coach the belief that he had in him, you can see in both of their faces, just unreal... It gave me goosebumps. I really wanted to replicate that feeling by myself and I couldn’t just find some guy to shout at me every day so I decided to be that guy myself. The boxer and the coach. I started reading motivational books, printing motivational quotes and hanging them everywhere. Talking to myself in the mirror, repeating all those phrases, believing in myself. Every morning in the shower reading the quotes of my shower curtain getting hyped and ready for a new challenge. I started to be more confident, more enthusiastic about everything. I noticed the change in my attitude, it became more positive. I am just riding this thing and I recommend everyone just to try this and I guarantee you, you will see changes immediately. My point is surround yourself with positive thoughts and repeat them to yourself, some of you might think it’s lame but at some point I swear to god you will feel like shouting that stuff in public!
