I can’t help with the electronics. But you can solve your tyre issues by replacing the stock tyres with these.
Schwalbe MARATHON E-PLUS https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B081VB1YB5/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_XNXGKF2W1SDC60TZ9V4E?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I had four punctures in a fortnight while running on the stock tyres. It was really disheartening. Not had a single issue since installing the replacements. They are rock solid.
Same happened to me four times in my first week. Changed the stock tyres to these and no problems since https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B081VB1YB5/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_HBCPHV3EG5N27SZ0MHVJ?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
These are the tyres you need https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B081VB1YB5/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_7EVGKSGCWXERZC06MW4A?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
The S3 uses tyre size 50-622.
These inner tubes are ideal for use with either the OEM Big Ben tyres or the suggested Marathon E-Plus replacements https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B012ZZTU5S/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_1GVDD04SX461589F954N?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
German law demands reflectors to the side, front and rear. One can buy some extra things everywhere, some fancy, most not. There are single black stickers. They are curved and can be applied to the side of the rim. They are black, but white reflective. Unfortunately this is not allowed, because they are not continuous but pieces. Continuous, white reflecting rims would be allowed. Otherwise, only spoke reflectors help. Ugly.
For front and rear reflectors the test number of the Federal Motor Transport Authority is missing, so they are not permitted. Reflectors could be integrated into the lamps.
A manual circuit, please, gladly electric, but manual selectable.

I got this, bulky but solid grip. No special case needed and probably fits a case of you have one anyway:
Lamicall Mobile Phone Holder Bicycle Mobile Phone Holder Motorcycle, Black https://www.amazon.de/dp/B083FDJ9B9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_K7KVPF3Y58JD648A41QX?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I bought a loop mount too, but recently switched to this. I love that it holds my phone in landscape and it's minimalistic and hold the phone VERY well. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078L18FTZ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and you can't beat the price!!
I got two of the below bungee cords. Maybe there are better solutions but this was good enough for me. I also had situations where I used two of them to create a single bungee cord to keep bigger stuff in place.
Master Lock Flat Bungee Bike Lock - 30 cm, Light Blue https://www.amazon.de/dp/B00511NG7C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_pj0bGbY5Y4CX1?psc=1
I have a very effective solution, but i will be the first to admit that it isn’t for everyone.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B017IQZ9P4/
It’s a net for dishwashers, but it fits perfectly over the top of the X2 front carrier.
The one i purchased is not currently available on amazon, but I’m sure you could find something similar
TEKTON 6263 Adjustable Ball Anchor/Hook Tarp Bungee Cord, 12-Piece https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AHV3E8W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_W5VbGb6Y080B1 is very similar to what I have and for years I’ve thought they were pretty useless! Turns out the clip is small enough to slide through the rectangular hole on one end but the ball won’t go through. Stretch the cord across your cargo and clip to the other side. Super fast and adjustably tight.
Indeed the Vanmoof pedals are slippery, especially during the rainy muddy season. Changed mine as well:

They're wrong. It's obviously not impossible. You don't need it to have pass through charging.
https://www.amazon.com/NBPower-Battery-Lithium-charger-Electric/dp/B01N5C8VKS

You can literally like something like this and rearrange it into the powerbank shape and it will work to charge the bike. If you want passthrough charging add an arduino or something to spoof the manchester code.
Im in the UK have a samsung phone and I use ExpressVPN ( its free but slower then the paid VPNs ). I stopped using the moofer app long time ago since it's update is very old and has connection issues.
The NYC shop has a bunch of great guys there; if you can get an appointment. For brakes, they suggested I change the pads myself. Below is the Amazon link for the pads and if you search You Tube for the Vanmoof link on changing the brake pads, it will be quicker and it's also super easy. It will take you less than 10 minutes.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FS2LZY0?psc=1&ref=ppx\_yo2ov\_dt\_b\_product\_details
If you have access to a service hub, im sure you can just stop by and ask them for a spare one.
You can use any other nut, that fits the thread of the wheel, from any hardware store.
This unfortunately won't be anti-theft of course.
Or you could also just get a full set of new anti-theft nuts.
like these: Link
These are the ones usually suggested: Schwalbe 2 x AV19 27.5" 28" 29" MTB Bicycle Inner Tube 40mm Schraeder Valve https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B012ZZTU5S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_8WWAP21CRNJ5T45SX2MQ
https://www.amazon.com/Kryptonite-Transit-FlexFrame-U-Bracket/dp/B07CG7VYY7 I believe Kryptonite has a mount that you can attach to your bike so that the lock doesn’t slip around while you’re riding. My bike only just came in though, so I’m not sure if it fits the frame or not
Workaround: I just downloaded and subbed to a VPN service which effectively overrides FW 1.8.x restrictions. This will do until Moofer gets an update!
I used CyberGhost VPN which worked perfectly with the Moofer app, haven't tried OpenVPN which is a free service.
This is the adapter: Qeridoo Polygonadapter 10x1 https://www.amazon.de/dp/B08H3STJMY?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
There are also some from different trailer manufacturers. Just search for Qeridoo adapter or croozer adapter.
Used this: MAPORCH Upgraded 15.7IN x 10FT... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0936GX5JB?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Highly recommend a good set of pliers and zip ties. Try to get a good feel of where you’ll cut to create overlaps before making the big cut. A few things I’d redo on this but overall it keeps things in my basket, and I’m happy about that.
Just get a free VPN app, like "TunnelBear" Change your location to somewhere in the USA Turn off bluetooth (so your bike disconnects) close the Vanmoof App (completely close it) Turn on bluetooth Open the App again and connect to your bike It will ask you to reset the "region location" and you can then reset it in the settings of the bike and it will be the USA settings
Ah I see 😬 Cool that you could start a fast process!! What’s your take on the durability of the VanMoof in general ? I suppose you ride one as well?
Btw if you see a bike with this bell on it, it’s mine https://www.amazon.com/Knog-Oi-Bike-Bell-Cable-Clip/dp/B07RT7FYFQ 😄
VanMoof LA shop sent me this video showing the complete bleed process on the front brake. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zRKPCgdjXo. Audio is bad but it goes through all of the steps nicely. I used this bleed kit from Amazon (I got the professional version which has slightly nicer syringes) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07845XW4X/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 and it has the proper threaded fittings to go into the VanMoof S3/X3 caliper and also the bleed port on the S3/X3 brake lever reservoir body. I used Shimano hydraulic mineral oil that I purchased from a local bike shop. The only thing I did differently than the video is I didn't put old pads in - I removed the pads and inserted a piece of plastic into the caliper to keep the piston from moving during the process. Brake levers were nice and firm after.
For example at Amazon: Dymoece 2 Pcs Bike Disc Brake Rotors with 12 Bolts 140mm/160mm/180mm/203mm for MTB Mountain Road Bicycle https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08HLVTMNW/ref=cm_sw_r_awdo_GWKP7XNP4VM1A5TMZPSK
Agreed with the cute but useless bells. I bought a hornit. It’s loud AF yet it doesn’t do an effing thing either in the bicycle Mecca of San Francisco! Hornit dB140 Bike Horn (dB140 V3) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09LDF9KMQ
I recently got this one for my S3 and it’s worked really well:
Kryptonite Messenger Mini+ Plus Wheel Extender https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XCPH1S4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_9C2DAEEGM7M1SCY1CQRX?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I like that it secures both the frame and the front wheel which has the motor, and it fits in my back pocket. This, along with the kick lock, gives me pretty good peace of mind. That said, if I were leaving my bike all day in a high risk area I would probably opt for a chain lock instead.
I got a "ABUS Bordo" with a plastic holder for my S3. This one
It looks "okayish" on the bike and still is very practical. Should fit on the X3 as well
I'm not using mine...
Got some Spoke Reflectors which do look much better with the simplistic design imo.
My wifes bike is currently at checkup, but I used "DB 703 Eisenglimmer matt" to fix up her bike, as a normal human I would say its nearly 1:1 the color.
The color was choosen by a local paint store, they check it with some tools & cards.
I’m using an eSmart fingerprint lock. It ticks away nicely behind the saddle.

This is a good one. But the diameter is not big enough and needs shimming:

This company makes one that fits. Supposed to be good, but very expensive:
https://byschulz.com/product-category/seatposts-accessories/?lang=en
It's pretty surreal that neither of those errors is listed in the troubleshooting. 45 and 48 seem to only be mentioned in passing here, but no description of what they mean.
I believe I've got 48 a few times but treated it as "the error I get in the elevator after a ride but does not matter". I suspect it may be the battery being too drained for it to work properly.
Regarding error 45 the best I could find was on this link:
"Next day same problem completely stops working err45 starts flashing again. Get thru to customer service in Amsterdam they tell me it’s probably a faulty battery connector"
Suspension post, these guys make one that fits, but expensive : https://byschulz.com/product/g-2-lt-parallelogram-suspension-seatpost/?lang=en
This is a bit cheaper, but post is narrow so you have to shim it, and also not as long: SR Suntour Bike Suspension Seat Post SP12-NCX Diameter 31.6 mm - 400 mm Length Bicycle Seat Post. https://www.amazon.de/dp/B08CGQ5TF7/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_97W60R70PFMCX32AQ4Q4

Took Fergie for a 1st birthday (19/10) aka Fergie's winter tune-up as it had a left brake issue, chain/gear slippage with wretched crunching noise issue when riding
Got to Canary Wharf Pier at 9.50am, took an Uberboat Clipper and set off at 10:18am got to Battersea Power Station at 11:20.
Dropped bike off and headed to Vibes Battersea Cafe and had a great Buddha bowl with a sorrel tea and a nettle tea for brunch. https://maps.app.goo.gl/nTYiYRW5PqFgdEAN9
Then had a good walk through Battersea Park to stop by the Herb Garden to read my book: A State of Fear: How the UK government weaponised fear during the Covid-19 pandemic https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1780667205/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_Y4YHPD3T7GVDVN4QJCMW
Then waited to get an email from the Vanmoof store and picked up Fergie at 16:46pm. .
Work done: Rear breaks was at a minimum. Hub needed a bus adjustment. New Drivetrain and Sprocket 22T S3 9-Spline. New brake pads and adjustment.
Verdict: After 525 rides = 1,539.7 mi and an average ride distance of 2.9 mi, Fergie feels brand new again! So needed a tune-up especially with possible icy winter roads
Conclusion: The service was Top-notch 10/10.
You guys should really think about using a product management tool like product board that allows us to submit feature requests and for you to publicly share their status etc https://www.productboard.com/ Thanks for the news though!
It looks like they maybe install freshdesk script incorrectly to their page html.
So script initialisation runs before script with chat actually loaded.
Maybe "defer" attribute could help there.
Or it would be useful to check if freshdesktop object in scope before run initialisation.
I didn't dig too deep in it.
Anyway, it's very frustrating issue, especially having in mind that I have reported this issue multiple times. If, by any chance, it is freshdesk problem — then it is up to Vanmoof change the service provider.
There is a number of dedicated biking apps available like https://www.komoot.com/ which I'm currently testing. Another app even includes an overview of cost free e-bike charging stations.
And no, I just searched for IPhone holder.
outlook and other advanced email apps should offer you to have a specific sound per contact. push notifications are anyway supported by them. i wonder why you want to make it so complicated.

I couldn't tell you the difference either. The one I got appears to be the "580" (580-85 E 61) which seems to be same as the 680 and the price has doubled on Amazon now so maybe look around. Here if you're in UK matches closer to what I paid originally.
I should add more to the bike, but I got the bike in summer and only now have started to think more on it. The price is good enough that you can just buy a couple meters and have some fun with it.
hey so I got all the parts in, for my ES2. I'm going to add the links below. this it worked great it holds, they stay up to 300 lb. it was a little complicated but not that complicated, despite people stating that it was impossible to assemble.
I also added a pair of foot peg supports I guess you'll call them I'll link those too and I position them just below where the racket touches.

The description of the ABUS lock is pretty vague on the VM website, but somehow I figured out that it was not the top end ABUS lock. Bought this one instead for the same price : ABUS Bordo 6500/110 X-Plus, black, 110 cm https://www.amazon.de/dp/B071ZPJ7JY/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_RECGAN342651M4KZFNB3?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
It is a lot bigger than the one in your photo and has a high security rating. Long enough for every situation I have needed it. Very heavy though.

I would HIGHLY advice you NOT to use the Moofer app, there are known stories where VanMoof revoked warranty and piece of mind services from people who used the app.
If you just want to ride 32 KM/HR do this instead:
This is the bag I got - nothing fancy but allows me to quickly take anything with me and clip it to one of the bars.
I was also considering a canvas version of a brown lunch bag but opted for the sling because it was smaller and the zipper accesses the main compartment.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Polyamide-Internal-Component-M6-Pack-k0646-1521106/dp/B06Y35XMSM here you go - price seems to change a bit. As for the rod any generic M6 stainless will do, same for the washers.
I spent an hour or so putting this little wooden crate together. I think it turned out pretty well for a small cost and gives me lots of flexibility being completely removable.
The crate is this, they have tons available but I went for one that fits as well as I could find. Only a small chunk of the box needs to be sawn out to get a really snug fit.
I then painted it with a few coats of black spray paint and then finished with 3 clear matte spray paint which claims to have some waterproofing capabilities. It's been on my bike for about a month through December in the UK and so far so good.
I like it as I can remove it in about 20 seconds by just removing the elastic strap and popping the crate off if I need to take wider/taller/generally larger items. I use this little crate to run to the shops for milk/bread/beer and it's proving really useful.
I then grabbed a small net off Amazon to stop things jumping out over the bumps. It's a little tight but is pretty perfect all things considered.
Hope this is useful for a few of you. For around £20 you can get a nice little crate to help you with your shopping.
VanMoof recommends using just water and any standard detergent only when necessary, I have a spray bottle with 1 part dish soap and 7 parts water and a dry microfiber cloth which gets you quite far.
Of course the bike is made to resist quite a lot. There have been reports for example that water creeps into the buttons or the cartridge but those are mostly one-off cases and if something goes wrong it should fall under warranty.
Just don't go using a pressure washer ;)
I can recommend Muc-Of bike cleaner which is made to get rid of any grease or dirt with special care not to damage the paint. https://www.amazon.nl/dp/B000NNSXLM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_ZVv2FbTANY8E6
Ah, I think we have bit different locks. I have the (newer?) Mini U-lock: https://www.amazon.com/Kryptonite-New-U-Fahgettaboudit-Heavy-Bicycle/dp/B06XCMWW9H/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=kryptonite+fahgettaboudit&qid=1599109981&sr=8-3 This didn't come with any mountpoint... Need to look into some DIY options then...
Oh that's quite annoying, mine came with a mount it's the silver piece, I got it here; https://www.amazon.nl/Kryptonite-New-York-Lock-Standaard/dp/B06XCH21YH/ref=sxts_sxwds-bia-wc-p13n1_0?adgrpid=105443200272&cv_ct_cx=new+york+lock+kryptonite&dchild=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwhb36BRCfARIsAKcXh6FCFIdWHz_OS6WKqMMI2J-ei25HQr8wfW1qCvnO...
I use this adapter with the original bike axel, washer and antithef nut. Thule axle coupling for full axle https://smile.amazon.de/dp/B015DJN2AM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_THrqFbH0CK6FX
The nut does not screw in as much as without it of course, as the axel is not so long, but it still very tight and secure. I wouldn’t jeopardize the safety of my kids if I didn’t feel comfortable with it.
Hey VanMoof buddies.
So for my X3, please find here the lists of accessories I purchased and my feedback. (I did spend tens of hours to compare everything on internet, so if I can help you to save some of your time by summarising my choices, then this made my day)
Lock: I first went for the D-Lock ABUS GRANIT XPLUS™ 540 —> BUT the lock bracket/holder doesn’t fit on any of the tubes of the frame... So I did send it back. I finally ended up buying the folding lock ABUS BORDO GRANIT XPLUS™ 6500/85 BLACK SH, and this one is just PERFECT!
Helmet: I went for the LUMOS KICKSTART (https://lumoshelmet.co/) and this is just incredible quality and enhanced visibility! Love it
Phone holder: I was very tempted for the QuadLock BUT the phone case is very thick and also the plastic is very hard, this makes it very complicated to switch from the biking case, to the casual phone case... After lots of hesitation, I went for a much cheaper option, where there is no need to take the case of... and I must say that I’m extremely surprised by the simplicity and quality of the construction. https://www.amazon.fr/dp/B08BJNTH5W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_p5VoFb21H0PQ7
Hope this helps!
I have a Thule trailer and use it with my 2 kids (6 & 4 years old). I use the original Thule adapter on my S3 and works great! The screw is not that long, however it’s still very tight. Thule Achskupplung für Vollachse oh https://smile.amazon.de/dp/B015DJN2AM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_V-TnFbXHYDSSS
Kids love it too, especially when I hit the turbo button!
found this on amazon; I'm also it's not pretty but you could spray paint hose clamps to be the same color; and clamp them on the bike (with a layer of rubber between the clamp and the bike.
