This is how one person I know organises theirs: https://miro.com/app/board/o9J_kmJ9A1E=/
Sadly, I can't share mine right now as I am on my phone, but mine looks like a more traditional map, with many colour coded lines between characters showing relationships etc.

Not only is it a cult classic VTM tv show, but it comes with a special edition copy of the Book of Nod. Whether the family member has it or not, it's something they'd appreciate I think (it's also 34% off if you have Prime.)
I played when the game first started, so I am a huge v20 fan. I don't really like the changes they made for v5, but if you are just starting out, there is no wrong way to go. There is a nice little boxed set for v5 that has the basic books that you would need, if you wanted to get more than just the core rulebook, but it is not even necessary. You can get by with just the core book. You could also check Roll20.net for games that are looking for players. They usually work with Discord or similar though, so you may just be meeting the same people.
I've always been partial to "Hegemon"--learned it from Ender's Game but it might the ideal term given its Greek roots and the meaning of the word "hegemony": https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/hegemony
one Tzimisce-for-hire existing in your city is enough to justify any number of horrifying ideas.
those aren't just dogs, they are bone spike covered murder hounds. and those ordinary ghouls have wolverine-esque bone claws that do agg damage.
and those hunters? oh my poor sweet childe, you wish they were just ordinary hunters
as a sidebar: one Nos with a swarm of ghoul rats can be a hell of an encounter.
These are the current official custom dice: https://www.amazon.com/Renegade-Games-Vampire-Masquerade-Roleplaying/dp/B09FFZ7SMV. Amazon has them for $15 right now and if you look on Google you can find many game stores selling them or order them from RGS directly.
You aren't going to find like, clan-themed ones, that aren't going to cost a lot though. The Dog Might ones are licensed metal ones, and you can find some on Etsy but they're still close to $100.
Sure. I used the pro version (around 4 euro), but there is also a version with ads under the same name.

Practice by running a module, see if you like the game and the content and how the rules play out. If you do, then work on building your own plot, story, and characters. I’ve done 3 full campaigns in different cities. It’s a lot of fun.
Some resources for you if you’re dead set on making a ground up game!

For names and pictures respectfully.
The biggest thing is be up front with any players, “I’m new in learning the rules be patient please.” Then be consistent in your rulings and finally more then anything else, have some fun!
So this week I decided to revisit artbreeder for making character portraits. This time I focused on using generations, iterations, and mutations to carefully tweak the portrait, instead of just cross breeding once. Every time I sit down with this site I discover new ways to manipulate it. There’s some big stuff here I didn’t cover last time.

I hope this is ok to post. There's been a lot of talk about AI assisted character portraits going around the VtM community lately. I did a video having a look at how to use them and the benefits of the two main ones that I know of.

I have absolutely made plans and ideas to unceremoniously shove VtM into the Fallout Universe with nearly no changes.
The Family from Fallout 3 will have a few vampires. I've made rule edits to facilitate the use of plasma and laser. I've even made an advantage/flaw thingy for when a vampire gets radioactive. The setting will either be boutique or near the Mojave. It's fantastic.
(One time I suggested this kind of thing in the official v5 server and was rebuffed for changing the lore. In the homebrew channel. In the god damn #homebrew channel.)
If you've ever read the third party Dungeons and Dragons book Ebonclad, it's a really good book. It's got the right amount of lore. It's got the right amount of setting. It's got classes and items and like seven quests. It has roll tables for days. It's a fantastic book that I didn't write and make no money on but I'll plug it right here anyway because it's that good.
And it's a city. A city big enough that I thought it might be fun to shove some vampires in there. Get your sheets ready boys and girls, we're starting a game! Cool! Are we in Chicago? New York? Wait what? Kintalla? never heard of it, is it in america? Why are people on horses? Oh shit my prey just used a firebolt cantrip on me.
Sounds like fun.
Lastly, there was a great television show called Turn: Washington's Spies. It was about spies in the american revolution! Muskets and cobbles and no technology of the new millenium. Sounds like an interesting challenge.
So yes. I like all of your ideas, and I hope you steal some of mine!
They're not an invention. They're $14.99 on Amazon
