US air tab 99% stuck with ALB loadouts while Yugo gets post-breakup missile (better seekings? maybe, sure.. half the ranging of Maverick, tho, and warhead chemical composition status is unknown) on a plane that has inexplicable 30% electronic-counter-measures. even from DPRK i cannot suffer this outrage against the American comrades. : - ( it is disrespect to our military preparation against USAF to see that the great ttangku-eater, A-10A/C ThunderBolt II "WART PIG", is rendered to such a childish toy in the video game, when this is a threat we take very very serious in the real life (ITRL). the number one rule of war, in the book The Art of War by Comrade Kim Il-Sung, is to not dis-respect or under-estimate your enemy capability and sly intentions.
유고 팬보이들은 명예를 모른다는 말이야...
I will fight against the Yugo power-creeper, because even though they were friendly and brotherly nation of non-alignment, their status in the War Game is too perfidious to ignore in contrast to the status of DPRK decks! my nation only receive some fake T-90, T-72, Mi-24 as a consolation unicorn, and is a disrespect that Yugo gets such an alternate history of ignoring 60 seasons of economic putrefaction, borne on the slitherings of some Serbi-boys on the forum .. while KPA in the War Game is 99% force to accept reality (except for T-90) while even missing some Category B/non-proto Category A units, like a modern 1989 Koksan (JUCHE PO) or infantryman Konkurs or the 1984 240mm rocket launcher of 12 tube design in similarity to URUGAN, or the self-propelled tracked vehicle with triple lacking-recoil-cannon of 370mm caliber.
Go to www.cheapshark.com and search for Red Dragon every once and awhile, I highly recommend this website for finding the best deal for games.

Old IP was 87.98.147.254 and my client tried port 10800. This IP belongs to OVH, (https://www.ovh.com/) a large french hoster.
Today my client successfully connects to the new IP is 178.32.126.73 on port 10000. It is another IP but still hosted owned OVH.
BLUF: If you have an Android get it here. If you have an iPhone get it here.
I recently rebuilt my WRD Calculator app using ionic, which allowed me to release it on Android and iPhone. The Android version, as it's always been, is free. The iPhone version, as recommended by several other redditors, is $1.99. This is only to partially recoup the $99 annual developer license that I had to pay to get it published, and is in no way connected to any compensation I feel I should receive as a developer. I figure I might get $35 back all told considering iPhone's only make up ~20% of the smart phone market share and I've got about 100 Android downloads so far, with Android controlling 79% of the market share. (The math works out that 20% roughly translates to 25 people, and 25 downloads x $1.40 a download (Apple keeps about 1/3 of each sale) ~ $35.)
To help justify the purchase a little bit more for the iPhone users I've added some graphics and UI styling, so its a little more than the barebones application that it was originally. I'm also open to suggestions on how to add additional functionality (I'd like to add a database lookup of queried units from the Hidden Stats spreadsheet eventually). In any case, I promise those that purchase the iPhone app that all this additional functionality will be added to this app alone, instead of being released as a separate app.
WARNING: GRAPHIC CONTENT
Combat Footage/Propaganda video here.
It includes from 16:20 footage of the actual destruction of those tanks (one is the same as the first picture) including one very noticeable cook-off. The ATGMs are probably Kornets (spiral flight pattern). I suggest you hit exactly 16:20 if decapitations bother you.

I hope they learn their lesson and don't shaft Wargame from now on.
USE a VPN with a Russian/Ukrainian etc. IP. When you have activated it, you will be able to start it without a VPN. A friend and I bought keys yesterday and it works like a normal game after activation.
Here are some fun oddballs,
Not grand strategy but it has the cold war and a sci fi theme for tactical TBS: http://www.xenonauts.com/
If you like the Civil War check out TC2m which imo feels slow and good: http://www.madminutegames.com/
Nah, and I think someone mentioned that fast-roping out of helicoptors was first used by the British in Falklands War in 1982 and didn't become universal for spec ops until later which puts it out of the timeline.
Source:
American AA will be good at fighting planes, but a REDFOR player will have a field day with helis. Nothing in between the Stinger F and Patriot, and though the Stinger F will be a good system, Mi-28 and Ka-50 will still happily snipe tanks from far out of range.
Depending on timeline USA might not have the best BLUFOR ATGM... that crown goes to the European nations equipped with Israeli Spike missiles.
Also the K2 will be a god tier tank. KSTAM will shred enemy armor.
Russia gets tons of new toys too; PAK FA stealth fighters, S-500, Pantsir AA etc.
One thing I haven't seen yet is India. India will be an immensely powerful country; a strong mix of Eastern and Western equipment. Rafale, Su-30MKI, T-50 in the works. ATGM will be either Spike or Javelin. They will also have Smerch and S-300 as excellent support options. Hell, it's like playing a mixed BLUFOR/REDFOR deck.
>he flying branch predicted that, if the A-10s went into action, seven percent of the jets would be lost per 100 sorties. Since each pilot was expected to fly at most four missions per day, each base would in theory generate more than 250 sorties daily. At this pace, a seven-percent loss rate per 100 flights equaled at least 10 A-10s shot down at each FOL every 24 hours — and that’s being conservative.
They're actually quite good, people seem to habitually lead with longbows in games and I caught it in a really awkward position.
The Bradley and the Pivads were just icing on the cake, Mortar stunned them up and VTT-323 brrt'd all over them.
We lost this game and I did pretty terrible under a hail of Bkan and Lance rounds but this was probably the best thing to come from it.
Edit: Here's the replay for anybody who wants to verify i'm not just playing against AI http://www.filedropper.com/strelajustright

Admittedly, the best examples are from WWI, but their machine guns were still machine guns.
You'll be playing the winner of Roadkillroger/mrghosty vs Devioustaco/easyC
Some time next weekend. As they I believe are east coast US it will be morning on sat or Sunday for you and evening for them fri/sat or one of the morning for them very early .
I'd recommend using: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/meeting.html
You can also check out Steel Panthers 2 and Steel Panthers Main Battle Tank which are free to download and covers cold war combat also.
The main reason for price differences in unlimited goods with zero marginal cost is purchasing power of potential buyers. Same goes with how Steam can offer discounts of 90% off and the game ends up being far more profitable than before.
(http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/174587/Steam_sales_How_deep_discounts_really_affect_your_games.php) (http://www.geekwire.com/2011/experiments-video-game-economics-valves-gabe-newell/)
Russian has its specific games prices and even own DVD release type (and "quality") just to fight piracy which has historically been very high there due to said goods just being priced outside of the reach of common people.
It is perhaps reasonable to frown upon people cheating price discrimination systems with VPN and so on (but even then, the systems in place cast a very wide net lumping countries with very different purchasing power into one group), but you can actually buy this game legitimately without doing any of this for fraction of the Steam store cost as explained elsewhere in this thread.
Unless you also try to guilt people into not buying games on Steam sales so that developers earn more and dont starve to death I suggest not trying to guilt people obviously poor enough to be willing to consider this way of getting the game either.
If I get disconnect I find it's due to maybe DNS resolver issues. or potentially a latency issue.Try a public facing DNS that is easier to reach. (kinda like a middle man) like OpenDNS. It is a good server. It could be your router or could be the server on Eugens' end but usually if it's eugen it drops you when loading in. Not during the match. You can set it in your router or on client computer. Turn your DCHP lease to longer as well. You might just have a really short lease. Also try changing macc address and hostname. That way you can be a new client and get a fresh lease.
There are other options but OpenDNS has proven to me to be quite stable.
I don't use them as I go for maximum privacy but these guys are open and quite solid and secure! :)
https://www.opendns.com/ They may keep a few logs.
Use Pycharm. It's super effective. Never think about formatting again, use the defaults and Ctrl-Alt-L. It also auto-warns when you go off the PEP-8 reservation. https://www.jetbrains.com/pycharm/download/#section=windows
Yeah, you must not have read the sequel, "The Art of War, Pt. II" where Sun Tzu says, and I quote:
>"Attack the opponent from the air where their defenses cannot stop you. But when it happens to you, fuck those helo rushing noobs. They are a cancer on society."
It's a more recent translation.
Hello fellow programmer! It's good to see some overlap in the venn diagram of computer scientists and wargamers (mbetts, cmdrcollins, you, and I make four )! If you wouldn't mind I'd like to convert your source code into an android app and publish it to the Google store. I figure it might be a little more viable on a phone where you can have it up while you're looking through the armory on your pc. I already have one app published, available at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jamestaylor.weg
you should also hook up a handheld mouse like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Handheld-Finger-Trackball-Pointer/dp/B0057KL2AUi
bet you'd feel like a real general then
Red Dragon is still consistently active (though I recommend finding games through the discord, especially if you're new) and you can always find a game. Take all your knowledge of C&C or whatever other RTS or RTT you might've played and throw it out the window. It's not that this game is real complicated or anything, but it's quite different from anything else in the genre. Cover, stealth, and vision plays a very important and ever present part of the game, and its also important to have a variety of units that cover each other's bases.
Word of warning, if you're looking for singleplayer content, I do not recommend wargame, especially red dragon, unless you really like just looking at cool cold war units with a cinematic camera. The AI is awful and just conga lines all its units at yours with no consideration for cover or any sort of infantry engagements. The multiplayer is some of the best out there though, and if you get into it it will easily provide you with hundreds of hours of wildly different gameplay; the deck customization alone offers a lot of variety even taking away all the outdated, garbage filler units that pad out a lot of the choices.
If you decide to buy it and need help figuring stuff out, there's always people online in the discord to explain stuff and there's some decent guides out there too.
It's a program called Flux that adjusts your screen lighting depending on the time of the day. I'm guessing this deck screen cap was taken late at night, cause that's what mine looks like early morning / late evening.
It's crazy. People on the Halo Waypoint forums are all about the base building. When I keep telling them that the Wargame style of combat would be better for the series. They go crazy.
I can see there are a lot of ArmA and Insurgency players there ! I am part of an ArmA team, but my team and I where pretty disappointed of ArmA 3.. Thankfully we just discovered Squad ! It is a simulation kind of game by the Project Reality team. It is currently in pre-alpha stage - which I have access to, as a kickstarter backer - and it looks really promising. It is definitely going to kick ArmA's ass and if you are asking me, I think it's going to be the new infantry simulation reference ! For those who would like to know more and eventually support the project : http://joinsquad.com/
The distribution I use is https://libreelec.tv "‘Just enough OS" purpose-built for Kodi. I keep it clean in its dedicated purpose, to minimize maintainance... So, for example, while my remote Pulseaudio sink to pipe sound from my office to the livingroom could be aboard the Kodi host, I put it on its own old first-generation Raspberry Pi running Raspbian.
What I was trying to convey in the first post was that in the armory, it states a units training has an affect over the unit damage. Not a units experience. How accurate that statement is, I have no idea. I don't have access to the source code.
In regards to units with higher level of training doing more damage with their weapon systems does have some relevance. Knowing where to hit an enemy vehicle where their armor is weakest is relevant. Just the other day on this subreddit someone posted the A-10 coloring book. https://medium.com/war-is-boring/a26385113bf0 This talks about exactly where a a A-10 should aim to maximize damage. Where shooting at will be ineffective such as the front armor, or trying to shoot a tank tread off.
Who is more likely to be more effective with a weapon, a militiaman or a spec-ops. Do you think a militiaman would be able to pick his shots and hit center mass every time, or manage to hit a tank where it actually does damage?
Certain weapon systems like artillery, FoF, and others where you have no control where the bullet/missile hit should NOT have that bonus. I AGREE it should be toned down. Probably in the 1.2 area with increments of .05.
Try this?

Oh hell yeah! I know what im doing this weekend!
Wonder if MP is still possible.
Man, I'm jealous. It might be an artifact of the hotel I'm staying in, but even with Astrill as a VPN, I'm getting fairly consistent micro-disconnects/reconnects, which plays merry hell with my online gaming. :(
I'll poke around the skirmish mode and get pwnt by the AI for a bit until I don't, and then I'll be in good enough shape to go online and get pwnt by humans instead.
> You can be sure of succeeding in your attacks if you only attack places which are undefended -Sun Tuz: The Art of War, VI #7
I am fairly sure that I already said this, but in higher ranked games, you send 1-2 units that side, and just use it as recon. That way, you push the 2 point sectors with all the points you can. Those two sectors equal the entire other side of the river. If you see a tank rush, you just ignore that side and keep pushing. Put some cheap defensive infantry protecting the rear, and then you make it hard for them to keep pushing in a straight line. It is a game of picking off units to make the rushing force smaller while you keep your forces moving to the other side.
> This poor guy spent every point he had off the bat
This is not his problem.
I would recommend not doing this in ranked so you can practice strategies that will make you win, and so if you do face someone who is skilled, you do not lose because of it.
Tom Clancy's "Into the Storm" gave you more of an idea how it should be done than a old book. Yes, The Art of War is influential, but TBH I didn't even have to read it. I figured out most of the concepts through experience or friends.
Wargame isn't real life; RPG performance against the (American) Abrams tanks have been so poor that the insurgents have largely stopped trying.
Not really, I think the most important factor is the length and applicability of the training. A WWI British army trained along pre war lines of superior rifle marksmanship would have been waste of time and just led to more dead tommies with even less results.
The thing about mass conscription is it widens the pool of intelligence and experience within a army. I'd suggest reading Dixion's "the Psychology of military incompetence." http://www.amazon.com/Psychology-Military-Incompetence-Norman-Dixon/dp/0712658890
Where he examines a great tradition of Volunteer military who went conscript during WWI/II. The interesting analysis is how a volunteer military can be seen to self select for incompetent leadership due to the nature of peacetime vs war time army confounded by authoritarian type that will self select for military careers.
One can examine the US civil war with such an eye and note that very few Professional officers turned out to be any good and in the case of Sherman and Grant were ironically terrible officers until there was a war to fight yet were terrible "professional" officers.
Conscript vs Volunteers is a bit of a red herring, the issue is are you really willing to militarise your society through conscription, and how bad things are that it becomes a good idea.
Note that the 60/70s Conscript US army did quite well verses the Conscript North Vietnamese and volunteer Viet Cong, compare with the string of failures of the professional/volunteer French army verses the Vietnamese.
~~101st drops in by plane.~~ But did not in the gulf war.

Interesting, I did not know that.
I actually built a calculator that gives you the damage, just input the ke/he and armor value. BLUF: If you have an Android get it here. If you have an iPhone get it here.
