Amazon: Sleep Strips I use those, but my first two nights were with a single strip of scotch tape, vertically. I have a mustache and it seems to be okay, granted it’s not a very impressive mustache haha
thanks! I highly recommend this book if you're interested in how different foods affect different people and all sorts of diet myths. It's blowing my mind
thank you! It's the Doctor's Best High Absorption 100% Chelated 100mg tablets - Magnesium glycinate. https://www.amazon.com/Doctors-Best-Absorption-Magnesium-Glycinate/dp/B000BD0RT0/ref=sr_1_6?dchild=1&keywords=vegan+magnesium&qid=1611072677&sr=8-6
My 2 cents:
Post-Script: I have borderline sleep apnea and have not been very successful with the CPAP machine, myself. I need to get back to the doctor to try to look at other options. I will say that I have been experimenting with taping my mouth shut when I sleep.
I know, I know, it's not proven crazy-people stuff, but it costs almost nothing and seems to have made a big difference in my perceived sleep quality and my scores. I get real stuffy, so I also use this nose thingy. **I am NOT recommending skipping the doctor!**
Good luck figuring out your sleep! If you haven't already tried the low-hanging fruit like a colder room, blackout curtains, or a noise machine, do those too!
Yeah the new AW ULTRA is the most accurate HR tracking device for wrist wearables. It’s also the most accurate for sleep tracking. But the Whoop 3.0 & 4.0 are close behind (especially for sleep) & the app’s UI / features is by far the best imo. And for contact sports athletes the AW isn’t even an option. So for people like me the Whoop is a no-brainer.
Btw this tape for Whoop is amazing (link below); I use it everyday. It’s easy to put on by yourself (no pre wrap needed), it keeps the strap securely on your wrist (two fingers away from wrist bone for more accurate HR data). It keeps the strap securely in place during sleep, pool workouts, contact sports, etc & dries quickly after showers, ice baths, etc.
I use one 6-8” piece one way, then another the other way after my morning cold shower. Then I just keep it on the whole day, discard in the morning & replace after my morning cold shower. The only good alternative is the hydro sleeve Whoop sells but I like the tape way more.
I leave the Whoop unit clasped and I feed the strap through the small opening that's left for the original Whoop Band to go through. My band was too big for my wrist, so I cut it shorter and sealed the end to prevent fraying.
These are the ones I bought.
This is the one I use: Micropore Tape with Dispenser | 1... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M5JPKTB?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I don’t cover my mouth entirely. Just a piece to keep my mouth from falling open.
And, it helps if you first put the tape on the back of your hand to make it a little less adhesive — otherwise it can hurt when you pull it off.
I have a Garmin and a Whoop, and I am a runner, mostly.
The Garmin gives me GPS, and I don't believe it would be anywhere close to as accurate as the Whoop bicep band. I also dress up the Garmin to make it look like a nice watch; as a result, it's not as tight-fitting as I'd likely need it to be for accurate HR.
Garmin also doesn't track HRV, give me recoveries, etc. I'm not saying Whoop is worth the money for everyone, but it is for me while I focus on my health until Garmin catches up a little closer... now you have me wondering about Garmin-compatible bicep bands...
Hello! For everyone wondering about the vitamins Hello!!
Essentially, to make this I cut out the 4.0 pouch from some of the Whoop body I didn’t like but couldn’t return, bought some light adhesive clothes velcro, and a no-show belt to stick it to.
It’s surprisingly comfortable and heart rate seems relatively accurate relative to wrist strap and my Apple Watch.
Offering my two cents here ---you can tell me to kick rocks. I just read a book called Breath: The New Science of a Lost Art. [https://www.amazon.com/Breath-New-Science-Lost-Art/dp/0735213615] There was some research/anecdotes in there about easing sleep apnea symptoms by focusing on nose breathing during exercise. I've started nose breathing during my runs and it's been revolutionary. Maybe something to look into? Best of luck in all things!

Magnesium glycinate at night before bed and magnesium orotate in the morning. Its important you take good quality magnesium that advertises the elemental magnesium or the actual content of magnesium contained per serving.
These are what I'm currently taking. I was taking lower quality magnesium before and noticed increased recoveries after I switched over to these .
Plus good quality protein shakes, nuts, lysine, probiotics and increasing my vegetable intake and no eating past 5:30PM has also helped considerably . My training routine is about the same as it's been for the past 3 years- Muay Thai 4-5 days per week with a 700-900 calorie burn per session yet recently I'm feeling stronger and getting much quicker recoveries both feeling wise and according to Whoop data.
Just learned this mouth tape thing is a thing and had some soft pourous surgical tape lying around. Works remarkably well if you want a cheap way to try this.

I do not have experience or data but Matthew Walker writes about this in his famous book Why We Sleep. Great read, lots of good data.

Sure! I have purchased a couple of types. These are good for just keeping it in place, are tight but stretchy and dry really fast so convenient for regular use: Compression Wrist Sleeves/Supports/Braces Infused with Copper (Pair) | Arthritis | Carpal Tunnel | Sports | Muscle & Joint Pain | Men and Women (Unisex) https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01DRY7I8M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_ZRDB120F1VJ60WWR4048?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I also have something like this which has a zipper pocket in the event I need to carry something with me. It does not dry as fast but you can throw it in the dryer.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nl.fameit.rotate When I use this rotation app to put the whoop app in landscape mode on my tablet it causes it to show the problem. When I leave it on auto, it goes away. So maybe check if there's any app that's messing with your display? Or if you have an old phone or a friend's phone that you can try to pair it with to see if the phone or an app is the problem.
Well.., actually i think im over using my Whoop and or AW to indicate AFib. I just bought a Wellview ECG device that I can wear using a chest strap. It finds AFib and PVC events directly. Also on Whoop and also lost about 20 lbs and also still have more to go.
I've been using Noom. Be forewarned it is a paid app. That said, it has helped me track my food and given me the guidelines to stay accountable. Mindful eating is one of the suggestions so you are on the right track there.
If you don't end up going with Noom, I strongly suggest you chose another food tracking app or method. I think that is the single best way you can set yourself up for future weight loss success. Congrats and good luck going forward.
I just started using Calm and really like it so far. It has helped my baseline anxiety, which in theory should boost HRV. You can get a one year membership free if you have an American Express card.
I never have luck running with a clunky phone in my shorts; I use this running belt and it works well.
Looks like FitBit added the GPS element to their charge 5 without significant size change.
Now they do not do a great job at accuracy of other things, but the GPS is reported as fairly accurate and the size is about the same 🤷♂️
I hear you. I am actually much better and I'm feeling pretty happy about it! There are a couple versions on amazon:
My wife started getting in the green much more regularly using these melatonin gummies with l-theanine in them too. It’s not the magic bullet for me, so YMMV.

I'm glad it's gotten better for you too. I've been taking my herbalist's version of This Formula called Dang Gui Si Ni Tang,

Stress limits your parasympathetic nervous systems ability to come online, leading to low heart rate variability. I posted this to another thread, but I think it may help you too:
Here’s what’s helping me:
I’ve realized that my parasympathetic nervous system has no clue how to activate, therefore I’m constantly in sympathetic nervous system “fight or flight” mode.
I’ve been doing really simple vagus nerve exercises outlined in this book. I know, it sounds hokey, but my HRV has increased to around 50 each night, where before I was in the 20s or 30s. I also have a whoop band, and my resting heart rate is also now lower at night.
I have some past trauma that I think messed up my autonomic nervous system. By training my parasympathetic nervous system to activate, I’ve had more HRV success than years of working out, eating right and sleeping well have given me (though I do still do all these things).
I also have a pdf of this book if you’d like it.
I skipped straight to the exercise instructions. Since they’ve worked so well, I’m now going back to read the reasons why they work.
Also, these exercises are super easy to do anywhere. Takes just like 30 seconds, so I highly recommend trying this to see if it works for you. :)
I have the same issue—an HRV that’s consistently lower than it should be. Here’s what’s helping me:
I’ve realized that my parasympathetic nervous system has no clue how to come online, therefore I’m constantly in sympathetic nervous system “fight or flight” mode. Therefore, my HRV is low because I’m never switching to the parasympathetic side.

The book Breath goes into this in a lot of detail, it's a very interesting read if you're into that kind of thing. I've started doing nasal breathing on easy runs and felt a big improvement.
Self-adhesive bandage wrapped around/over it works just as well or better than the sleeve for me! I started using those things when I had a cut on my foot that I needed to wrap up, and they stay on extremely well. Magnesium with 300 MCG of melatonin. There are studies showing this very small amount of melatonin has better effects that larger does.
