>How do I earn a living from this app?
Your not. Make money yes, make a living off of this app no.
First it has to be a hit to make decent money. If you every get a major hit off this app. It's possible to make a living off of it, but a slim one of that.
Created a website to see you the creator of this app. So we know what this app all can do. Get great feed back. News about coming updates or bug fixes. Have advertising on the site, to produce income. Have a donate button, you'll be surprise of people that donate now of days. Have a download link; mirror sites if you get real heavy traffic.
Have a option for a pay version for full support of this app. Some might click on this one. Instead of the free option.
You can created a free website using this webhost.
There is other ways to make income too. But, this is a simple draw one. I'm sure you'll get other ideas from these post responses.
Here are the files that you can use to host your own copy of the site (I strongly suggest you do, just use a throwaway email for the hosting site) :

Aca encontre un lugar que te deja "hostear" una pagina gratis. https://www.000webhost.com/
Nunca lo use, asique no se que tan bueno sera pero para hacer pruebas te va a servir.
No, webpages are served from computers — they don’t appear out of thin air.
I doubt you would have SSH access with 000webhost so you can’t use SCP which would be my first choice, so you would probably want to create a php script which takes an uploaded file puts it in a directory and have your raspberry pi post it to that endpoint.
But as I said — literally millions of ways to do it. If you don’t want to do this I would look at FTP next. Or reverse proxy from the Pi and have your web server CURL it from the pi. I’m just throwing out ideas going off of the features they say they provide: https://www.000webhost.com/features
For those who want to create a bypasser copy, use these files (camwhoresddl, functions.php and index.php): http://www10.zippyshare.com/v/5hTIwosg/file.html
And this free website to host the files: https://www.000webhost.com/
It seems you can get free webhosting from https://www.000webhost.com/
I can't say I've ever used them though. I pay for a virtual server myself but that's not exactly an option for someone without an IT background. The above will be fine for hosting a wordpress.org site with the Comic Easel plugin. It's still worth buying a domain name from someone like GoDaddy or 1and1 though. All of this is still some what tricky if you have no techy background/understanding though.
In your case (I'm assuming a low techy background) you could use a free comic hosting site (like Tapastic). Some of them even let you buy a domain name at a later date that points to them, so you never have to worry about maintaining a website. http://cat-nine.net/top-4-best-free-webcomic-hosting-sites/
Website; https://www.000webhost.com/
Business cards; http://www.vistaprint.com

I'm using 000.webhost.com because it's free. And even their sub-domain names are free. So website cost me nothing. Lot's of services are free. Love this hosting site.
Vistaprint are great quality business card at a very cheap price.
Craigslist is a great place to advertise.
Then when you do fix computers. The word of mouth gets out and your be swap if your prices are reasonable and your good at your job.
Been in business since 2001. It's mostly a side job. Because I do work some where else. I get plenty of business to paid for 2 weeks exotic vacations every year. I do quit my regular job when I get bored or want to move some where else. My side job is always there for me.
Keep in mind they were recently exposed at being majorly hacked, I'd give them some more time to get there stuff fixed.
Podes crearte un subdominio en https://www.000webhost.com/. Es limitado pero para lo que queres alcanza y sobra. Ademas, si alguien quiere saber a quien pertenece tu pagina, no va a saber.
La otra opcion es registrar un dominio ".com" y pagar un extra para ocultar los datos del registrante....pero sale carito.

Here is one of many solutions your host has for this issue. GOOD LUCK!
There are actually free web hosts out there - some of them put a small ad on your site, but many dont, and I've used them and they worked just fine for my low-traffic site.
I used https://www.000webhost.com/ and the free hosting plan is very basic but it works.
if you're looking for free hosting, you can use something like https://www.000webhost.com/.and you can install WordPress with their one-click WordPress installer.
afterwords, you can select a free theme as you do in wordpress.com, and then you just have to get nameservers or IP address from your 000webhost account and add them in your domain's DNS configuration section correctly to point the domain.

some other free servers are,
InfinityHosting
freeHostia
You can get free hosting and free domain at places like https://www.000webhost.com/features
Google free hosting free domain and have a look. A lot come with free control panels, and although far from ideal. It should get you going on your learning journey without initial investment
As many people have said you can host it locally using MAMP/XAMPP. If you do want to put it online I have used https://www.000webhost.com, in the past, it's a child company of Hostinger which let's you host and have a domain for free.
You can use 000webhost <strong>https://www.000webhost.com/1119557.html</strong>, here you get even a database plus you can also configure your own domain
I used 000webhost for a bit and it should meet all your requirements (PHP, MySQL, etc.). Although the load-times were not always the fastest and occasionally files would go missing. You get what you pay for.
Ah sorry, should've asked how technical you were first! The image you sent has information about your name servers actually (which look fine), but not your DNS records. In super simple terms, DNS records are essentially where you declare which IP address a computer should go to when they visit your domain.
DNS settings (sometime just referred to as zone settings) are usually manageable through your hosting interface, and generally look like a long list of URLs right next to IP addresses. This 000webhost FAQ explains how you can edit your DNS settings, but it also mentions that free hosting accounts don't have full DNS management capabilities, so unfortunately you might be out of luck.

Honestly, you are thinking about monetisation way too early. If you are setting out this project to make any sort of money, big or small. You will likely be disappointed. It will suck the fun out of it for you and your daughter.
If you are wanting to do this a fun activity for you and your daughter, then for the traffic you will likely get you can get free hosting. That will take the pressure off having to affiliate products, and focus on having fun.
I would recommend Amazon for this - https://aws.amazon.com/getting-started/tutorials/launch-a-wordpress-website/ or something like https://www.000webhost.com/
Used it for my final year project. Network speed sucks, there's no SMTP support, & you need to append their domain to your URL, but if you're using it purely for providing an API for your apps, it's good enough for a small project

> Here are the files that you can use to host your own copy of this automated bypass site (I strongly suggest you do, just use a throwaway email for the hosting site) :
> To create your own version, copy the code from the three files here (1 css file and 2 php files) and enter the code in a text editor and save the files as they're named.
> * register a free account at https://www.000webhost.com , use whatever name you want for your page address. * when asked to build your own website, click on "upload files" * in the file manager that opens, click on "public_html" folder from the left side pane, this will open the folder. * drag & drop the 3 files you created and saved earlier (camwhoresddl.css, functions.php, index.php) into your browser window, then click "upload". * open your custom website, it should be working. * profit.
Using what little coding knowledge I have, I played around with the index.php file and added a bunch of servers to the $servers array in the index.php file.
So far, it's working about 8/10 times, so I guess there's still some servers that I'm missing.
Thanks to all of the contributors, especially /u/toohazy for the detailed set up instructions for a noob like me and /u/daymwk for the awesome code!
Hi all,
I think this information can be useful for you. If you plan to get your website, here is one good free web hosting provider to choose - 000webhost.com
They provide hosting absolutely free, there is no catch. You get 1500 MB of disk space and 100 GB bandwidth. They also have cPanel control panel which is amazing and easy to use website builder. Moreover, there is no any kind of advertising on your pages.
You can register here: https://www.000webhost.com/954543.html
> since you'll have to factor in site operation costs, fees with paypal, and referral fees.
Well based on the Server Status link they put on the homepage, they are hosting with 000Webhost which is known as a popular free host with 1G of storage and 10GB of bandwidth so unless they are one of the few who uses their paid plans, they should have basically $0 of site operation costs.
and that's where you went wrong
you need to save it as .php, and upload it to a web host that supports php
https://www.000webhost.com/free-php-hosting
You can use this for now, but in the future don't use PHP. Use python or javascript (ruby?) for these small scripts.
Just a note on the "free" hosting side of things.
With website hosting you get what you pay for. There are companies that offer free hosting such as 000webhost. I have used these in the past when I was a kid learning web development and it was kind of terrible. Constant downtime, very slow servers, majorly "oversold" webspace.
Currently I used a webhost called Smart Hosting which are UK based servers and you can get a shared cPanel package for £2.99 per month. So far this hosting has been far superior to other shared cPanel hosts I have tried in the past.
(Dummy) Why is my CSS all messed up when using a free hosting program like "https://www.000webhost.com/"
I mean it works and looks very nice to me in note pad++ but when hosting it dies.
Also I don't have like the css folder and templates etc in a folder I sorta did them like yea....
<3 you reddit
You really need a server that supports PHP, exactly as the message says, there's no other way.
Off the top of my head there is 000webhost, which provides free web site/application hosting, but it is limited. https://www.000webhost.com/
And just in case you decide to look into it later, I agree with the previous comments that XAMPP is easy to install and use as a local hosting solution.

almost any free hosting site worth their beans will let you upload your files, change permissions, setup a database, add subdomains, and have some sort of management software for you to use.
i would suggest 000webhost to get started. in addition to the above there's a number of cms you can install in a few minutes with no extra cost. once you're ready to "go pro" you either get a plan from them or move your site over to whatever dedicated server you acquire. (where you can setup the os to your liking, install ruby, node, python,or whatever your web apps run on)
