you have to submit a form in order to move in on another day because they want to regulate the amount of people given covid, but there should be no problem if you take longer to move in
The International Advocacy Office is going to be hosting MEALS AROUND THE WORLD next Wednesday on Jan 20th at 8-9PM PST!!! Here we’re going to be showing off some of our awesome cultural foods with the rest of you all!
It’s going to be fun, educational, and most importantly delicious!
Also please feel free to join the meeting with your own meal too! If you bring one from your own culture, make sure to show it off so the rest of us can enjoy it too!!!

You could install cold turkey. It blocks certain websites for a set period of time.
If you find yourself using reddit on your phone too often you should consider uninstalling it. You're not missing out on much.
there's an app called TransLoc (play store link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.transloc.microtransit) that has the Anteater Express lines on it, including scheduled arrival times. just make sure that you go under settings -> agency visibility and make sure that "University of California - Irvine" is visible. since nothing's running tonight you won't be able to see the stops/routes, but in the morning you'll be able to see what's running when, and you can find the stops closest to you. it should be running tomorrow, though i'm not sure if they'll be on regular weekday schedule (every 5-10 min) or whether they'll be on weekend/holiday schedule (every 30 min) until Thursday.
i hope that answers your questions! if you have more questions or want me to clarify anything, let me know ✨
If I knew what I knew now, I would get a laptop with Linux.
Back in the day I was extremely productive with my 500$ 8lb 17" Windows XP laptop (so much screen real estate), but I know some delicate people who liked to torture themselves trying to program on a 0.5lb 13" laptop. Eventually ended up dual-booting so I could do research in Linux. I kept my games a desktop PC that I built, because the laptop was too slow.
Here's a couple laptops that come to mind:
Or just use a cheap old Windows laptop and dual-boot it with Linux until you figure out what exactly you want. The CS dept has a nice computer lab with all the software you need too, if you're worried about incompatibilities.
I've found these work fairly well. If you have a speaker you can connect your phone to, you can also put on some white noise to cover up their snoring. If you have android, I'd recommend this this app, as you can customize the sound and it has a timer for turning off after a while (useful if you don't want your morning alarm to be drowned out with white noise).
If you use cash to purchase a gift card, then trade that gift card for a Private Internet Access VPN subscription, there's no way to tie the connection to you personally, or for a complainant to get you in trouble with UTC or Cox; even PIA doesn't know who you are.
Sounds like it's a little complicated. According to this article there are no federal laws, but there are laws in some states:

When it comes to nazism I'm pretty sure that you could make the case that, because nazism is an inherently racist ideology, the problem is not really politics as much as it is racism.
There's many factors, but I'm guessing you're transferring with a complete O Chem sequence right? Do you have equivalency for Genetics, Biochemistry, and Molecular Biology?
In terms of General Physics, the equivalent course we have for the non-engineering Physics (aka, non-calc based Physics) is Physics 3A/B/C. Are you coming in from a semester system or quarter system in CC? The key here is the requirement for Physics is "1 year of Physics." If you're coming in from a semester system, you only actually need to take 2 physics classes (granted you complete them in your CC) rather than 3.
In terms of doing summer research - definitely look at this website: Bio 199. Look at interesting Labs/Research and start looking to send out resumes to PI's. Let them know that you're an incoming transfer student and is looking to start/join a lab this coming summer!
In terms of summer classes, there are some Bio classes recommended to be taken in the summer. One glaring class is Bio Sci 100. This class is a requirement to take any Bio Sci upper division lab, but the professor during the school year is notorious: her rate my professor.
Finally, since Microbiology/Immunology major is in the same department as Biochem/Mol Bio major, we actually have a lot of classes in common - so if you're curious in any of them let me know! I've taken quite a few and can definitely give an opinion in any of those (or if you need help planning your schedule and what not)!
ohhh I just clicked on the file and read the title. no, I don't know about second semester topics, but since the file name has z-lib.org in the title, I would try looking there or other online free textbook websites for it by copy & pasting the name of the textbook and seeing if an edition for second semester topics pops up. sorry!

You log in to the openlab machines which run CentOS (but distro really doesnt matter at all). If you are off campus use VPN or a certificate to connect. He should provide all of the instructions on the site.
53 is one of the easiest classes in all of CS, enjoy it :)
I got an HDMI cable for like $20 and it fixed things for me. My internet has never been faster now.
I have this one and I really like it!! Usually goes around 15.5 mph but can get to 20-23 mph when you go downhill lol

For that price the HP envy line is nice. This should kill any engineering stuff you throw at it if you want a 17 inch, if you want smaller the envy 360 can be customized on their site to something good.
I bought these from amazon and they come with a lot. weird plastic smell tho but it went away fast lol.

I brew my own coffee! I have this stovetop espresso and I buy ground coffee beans from Peet's coffee in UTC. I usually get medium french roast. Sometimes I'm in a rush and buy coffee from Peet's (their americano is better) but I can do starbucks too :|
There's a few Targets nearby. On the night of the 27th one of them, I'm not sure which, is having a big event where they keep the store open only for UCI students and have free shuttles to and from campus.
i think he does!
btw i find a review session for chem 1b starting in 1hr. as long as you register with the zoom link, they will email you the recording and notes.
Try using User Agent Switcher and switch your user agent to firefox for linux. Resnet won't bother you with CiscoNAC again. Also import this list to user agent switcher so you have different user agents to choose from.
I believe we can use it until the end of session II for summer. After that, we are stuck with the free version which allows you to conduct meetings with up to 100 users and time limit of 40 mins or 1-on-1 unlimited. This is a chart of their offerings:

Not completely fog proof but these are the best I have found. I’m sure any KN95 mask will do. And they’re fairly comfortable! I think the malleable wire on the nose bridge really helps conform to the shape of your nose and keeps most of the warm air in the mask. On top of that, I like to put the nose bridge from my glasses on top of the mask, so that the nose pads from my glasses are sitting on top of the wire nose bridge of the mask if that makes sense.
Hey I actually use this cloth and it works for like a day until I have to clean my glasses with it again. I have worked 8ish hour shifts with my mask and glasses and no fog. The only thing is that if you need to clean your glasses like for a smudge or something, you should only clean it with this cloth or the anti fog layer will be gone Amazon cloth link
As a student, you can take any of the anteater express buses to get around. The M line will take you to the ARC and back to campus. Get the Rider app and you can track the UCI busses in live time. They depart real quick and have a lot of locations near campus. The nearest one from The Hill is the flagpole area (where you can take the bridge from UCI to UTC).
They're fine. I bought the 511 charger a few months ago. It does not come with a cable, but Anker sells cables, too. They have a bundle with the 511, but it's cheaper to buy them separate, which is weird.
F.lux is a great tool and will help with eye strain and regulating your circadian rhythm. Link here for those interested: justgetflux.com
Many new smartphones also have similar features.
^^^ just to piggy back, I have a vantrue T2 dashcam and its pretty solid, it connects through either a 12volt car charger or your cars OBD connector. If you set it up through the OBD port then it records even when your car is off and it knows when to shut itself off in order to not kill the battery. I got mine back in 2019, so I'm not sure if they still sell the specific model or a newer one. But yeah for about $200 its a pretty good investment, definitely will save you $$$ in the long run lol.
Also I think this is the Vantrue full kit that Webcrawler is talking about, currently 26% on sale!
The office staff likes to keep things under wraps...as in- I don't think they have a clue most of the time. But they are nice! Maybe call them and make sure as Verano 8 may be on some special shit of their own. I feel like it was mentioned in my lease (been here over 2 years and cannot recall at the moment) that I needed my own router. You can get whatever one you want and works well. Two years ago- I bought this bad boy and have had 0 problems with it. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07YMFZ28Q/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_search\_asin\_title?ie=UTF8&th=1
Check out this outlet, the top one marked CAT6 is the ethernet port, the bottom one, labeled CAT3 is for phone, narrower and smaller.
Had the same exact issue. Sprayed the living shit out of the baseboards, both inside and outside with this spray you can get on Amazon. I only ever see a living spider once every few months now.
Here's the 10,000mAh version. There are 3 other models to chose on that link. The 4G TK905B(10000mAh) for $89.98 is the one I have. Many people won't need to pay the extra for the more powerful battery because they all have some good low power modes.
For tracking a backpack or laptop bag, I'd suggest using the "GPS Work mode: Power saving mode" which does a GPS fix once per hour when the satellite signals are available because it still does tracking and Geofence/shock/speed notifications using 4G triangulation. 4G tracking uses a lot less power than GPS. You can use the app to switch it into the full GPS mode anytime you want for GPS location fixes every 30secs.
It does have some powerful magnets built-in on the bottom, so you may need to be a bit careful how those are placed near computers and phones, or give it a small sheet of steel to block the magnets inside a bag.
Hide AirTags in all your stuff before it gets stolen. For larger items like backpacks and laptop bags, get a 4G GPS tracker with a long life battery to hide in a hidden compartment. These can do live tracking with accurate updates every 30 seconds, even in locations that can't receive GPS signals. They also do triangulation location with 4G signals. This tracker costs less than $50 plus $5/month for a 4g tracking sim card. Most GPS trackers require an expensive monthly service plan for tracking, but this one doesn't. The sim card is just a regular 4G plan designed for tracking data.
I have a more expensive version with a larger 10,000mAh battery, but they work the same. You can have it automatically text you if they move outside a zone you set (Geofence), if it's bumped, or if it moves. You can use an app to send it a command to activate a microphone on it and silently call you so you can listen to anything near it.
It also collects location info so you can see the path that it took to where it's now located. That could help to identify other criminal co-conspirators involved in the theft.
AirTags are better than nothing, but a 4G tracker will give you frequent location updates that you and police can actually use to reliably find it.
I recommend that you read this book: https://www.amazon.com/Insiders-Guide-Psychology-Major-Everything/dp/1433808153/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2PL4PVGSPUR0I&keywords=the+insider%27s+guide+to+the+psychology+major&qid=1659666253&sprefix=the+insider%27s+guide+to+the+psychology+majo%2Caps%2C200&sr=8-1 - I think it will really help you decide if you want to major in psychology (and it is inexpensive, short, and an easy read).
yup Android version is still under development, although it's currently on Google Play Store (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.uci.zotmeals) for beta testing, which still has some bugs. We expect the new version would come out soon. If everything goes well, it should be ready by the start of the Fall quarter :)

All they said was that it was a known issue and they're working on it. I have no clue how long it'll take. Changing NordVPN to Open and using the 1.1.1.1 worked and I was able to use voice channels on discord, so I recommend that as a temporary solution for now. I doubt they'd tell us when it's fixed so I guess just try joining a voice channel everyday before turning on the VPN.
I talked to an Apogee support person. They said this is a known issue and their engineers are "working on it." PDS transitioned back in June around the 18th so we've had no p2p access on Ethernet since then. Discord works on wifi though. I'm still trying to find a workaround but even NordVPN can't establish a connection to any p2p servers.
My desktop can't connect to wifi half the time as it doesn't show up as a possible network half the time, which is weird considering my phone and laptop connect just fine. All of my drivers are updated so I'm at a loss for that issue. I've seen other threads on here saying they got their Ethernet working by inputting the MAC address for it on CampusConnect, but that doesn't work for me.
I'm not too familiar with IPVanish, but try setting your protocol to OpenVPN and seeing if it then allows you to change from an option called UDP to TCP
Don't know too much about console issues, but steam on PC hasn't worked for me at all since the day they changed the internet provider. Sometimes if I'm lucky I'm able to sign in to steam but then games don't load. They also apparently blocked NordVPN so VPN connections don't seem to work either. I've tried maybe 5 VPNs so far and none work while on the VDC/VDCN wifi/ethernet. Some people suggested changing the DNS (1.1.1.1 on your device to get Discord and specific games or apps working but I haven't tried that yet.
I play on my desktop. I'm using Private Internet Access connected to Port 80 using TCP. UDP seems to be blocked, so only TCP is allowed specifically on Port 80. I'd suggest trying any VPN you might already own with these settings (it takes a while to initially connect) and seeing if that ends up working for you.
I had the same issue with games! I connected to a VPN and everything works now, but my latency is doubled. However, my VPN (Private Internet Access) takes a couple minutes to work properly because it has to try a bunch of different ports until it finds a working one
Sleep sound ( rain works for me) and a device you hold I. Your hand called the chill pill. It really works for me.

Slim chance the owner is reading this. But if someone else reading this has a yapping dog, these help super well. It emits a high pitched sound in response to barking which annoys the dog. I really enjoy using these dotted ones but it only comes with 5 :( maybe you could buy 10 and save the other 4 for another quarter? They’re around $3 each
Here use this FB link. https://www.facebook.com/SellBookUCI I've been selling/buying directly from students. You save hundreds. No joke, you get a better deal on sellback too. Freshman I sold one of my bio books I paid around $110 for and got $20 back. Found out about this group never went back, friend gave me admin cause he left. Its reliable and very very active. Not a hot plate. An induction burner. It’s another style of electric stove. The terrible ones in the student housing are electric coil. Induction works with magnets. Only down side is you have to make sure your pans work. Here is an example:
A gas burner would be something like this:
Note that if you for a gas burner, iwantani is the only brand I’ve seen that actually markets it as an indoor burner.
Fill out the move-in change request form! you can try calling the mesa court housing office to see when you should hear back by, but hopefully it does not take too long since move-in is next week :)

Hey there, and welcome to CS, and awesome initiative on learning to code before getting here. Yeah, the intro courses to CS switched from Java to Python, and specifically Python 3, though there aren't too many syntactical differences between Python 2 and 3.
For a gentle jump into learning Python, and maybe some more programming languages, I recommend Codecademy's Python course. Nice steps into getting into the hang of the syntax and writing code.
After that, if you want a challenge in programming, go for Project Euler. Lots of math-y thinking and possibly table flipping, but helps in the long run.
Overall, the best tool you're going to have in CS is you (which can apply to life too, but eh). Find projects that you want to work on, or feel interested in working on, so that your four years here for CS don't consist of entirely sitting in a lecture hall.
Also, more resources from people that know way more than me over at /r/learnprogramming.

Source: I FUCKING LOVE CS
I have my switch, PC and mobile devices connected to this router and the router is connected to the ethernet port in my bedroom. It works great I get 90+ mb download speed and 11+ mb upload speed. Whenever the Wi-Fi goes out the ethernet ports never seem to get affected so my Wi-Fi is always up.
Segway ninebot max , pretty up there in price but has good range and pretty good speed, con is that it weighs more than other scooters and could be annoying carrying it up stairs

ACC is known for having terrible wifi. Once you get an ethernet cable you should be fine, I’ve never been dropped/cut off once I got one. This is the one I have. (40ft $20 or they have a 10ft for $10) Although for a Mac you’ll also need an adapter for like $15.
Since we will be using Zoom, we might need to be careful by using a different web browser to keep our Facebook credentials from being shared. The article about Zoom linked is written by ProtonMail who are trying to pitch their own product (ProtonVPN) so I think the issue of reliability is compromised. Nevertheless, it is a good tip to use 2 devices to be able to access email or other programs without triggering the focus warning in Zoom.
So I go to the store about 2x per week and I put the majority of the stuff in my back pack and then in one other bag on my shoulder.

Edit: You could also get a basket onto your bike, before my last bike got stolen that’s what I had so then it was super easy. Side note get a u lock do not use just the cable.
You can buy one on Amazon or The Hill, the name is iClicker, this is the link for one:
as the other responses mentioned, you won't need one for remote learning. When things to back to face-to-face instruction you will need to get one. Don't be scared by the price, sometimes used ones are advertised here. I might have mine somewhere and won't be using it anymore.
This has been my go to lol buttons feel nice and it's small so it can fit in my pocket sometimes easily

I'm surprised to hear that they don't have an eating disorders group - but I double checked the Counseling Website and you are right. However, they DO have a workshop on Wednesday, March 6th at 1pm in the Counseling Center called, "Love Your Bodies, Not a Size" - going to this workshop might be helpful for you - and it might be a good first step in getting comfortable enough with the Counseling Center and their staff to schedule an individual appointment.
At the very least, you could let the therapist who runs the workshop that you are disappointed that they don't have an eating disorders support group here at UCI and whether they could consider starting one (or at least refer you to one).
I hope that helps!

That is true. However, the problem with having to be forced to learn certain topics is that it makes it difficult for you to learn other topics on your own (like production-level frameworks and languages). However, I am glad that I'm given a push to read CLRS, The Mythical Man-Month, and discrete mathematics.
These work too if yiu dont have a PCI slot such as on laptops.
