Which shuttles? The 1700 Park shuttle is quite consistent. The other lines, not so much.
Grab this app or its iOS equivalent, TransLoc Rider, for real-time tracking of the various lines, except the Park shuttle. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.transloc.android.rider&hl=en
You'll have a better idea if the shuttle will actually be coming to get you.
As a student, you can take any of the anteater express buses to get around. The M line will take you to the ARC and back to campus. Get the Rider app and you can track the UCI busses in live time. They depart real quick and have a lot of locations near campus. The nearest one from The Hill is the flagpole area (where you can take the bridge from UCI to UTC).
I was pointed to this app by somebody affiliated with the school in the first few weeks. Or maybe in some handout or piece of mail I received. I find this to be super accurate and it even shows the buses traveling around campus.
You want to use Lexington routes to find the "Blue/white UK route"
The campus route categories only show bus routes for the hospital and such.

Rider is a good app for using the transit. It tracks buses on a route in real time and somewhat accurately gives an ETA for the next bus at a certain stop.
