They've already signed up ore than 7,000 people. Let's not be those "bash the government at all costs" type of people.
Yes, German or American roaches can very easily infest a space. Large palmetto bugs are common, but they prefer the outdoors and aren't gonna hang around and reproduce.
Fortunately, roaches are easy to deal with if you've got the right goo. It waits about 24-48 hours to actually kill the roaches and so they get some on them and spread it to all the other roaches. No roaches after a week max. I've never had to apply it a second time.
Raleigh Charter in Wake County is ranked in the top 50 in the nation. Great school. Those kids get into crazy colleges like Yale and MIT. I know a few.
Wake County also has excellent elementary and middle schools -- Hunter Elementary, Ligon G.T. Magnet Middle... all great schools. As for public high schools, Enloe HS is known for having all the "smart" kids. It used to rank in the top 100, but new administration has brought it down. Still a good place.
Raleigh is also an amazing place to grow up. It was the fastest growing city of 2012 and the number one city in America.
Source: Went to Enloe, grew up in Raleigh, savvy about the Wake County school system.
Android app as well.
Allows balance transfers, balance checks, and billpay payments.
Does not yet allow deposits, loan payments, or credit card payments.
Here's an article from The New Yorker about money and influence (mostly of one man) in North Carolina politics: (http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2011/10/10/111010fa_fact_mayer?currentPage=all)
It covers the recent gerrymandering, our recent tipping of the balance of state legislature, and even his efforts to influence our school systems. And he lives right here in Raleigh.
Edit: Took me a little longer to find this one. Here's a story on the bill written by Time Warner aimed at reducing competition in the market for broadband: (http://www.engadget.com/2011/03/30/big-cable-backed-broadband-bill-soars-through-nc-house-one-step/). Corporations write a lot of laws for our state, this one I followed closely. When they legislate away competition at the same time they attack net neutrality, it shows just why our capital also needs an occupation.
A great book on the white coup in Wilmington is Wilmington's Lie: The Murderous Coup of 1898 and the Rise of White Supremacy As the title suggests, it goes beyond the actual racist uprising and into U.S. white supremacy writ large.
I have two routes that I can take to work / home... ok, really three if I want to pay for passage on the NC-540 toll road... so I generally fire up Waze as I'm leaving in either direction to see what route is the fastest. Turns out NC-540 is always the fastest because it's nearly always deserted, so I turn on "Avoid Toll Roads", which is unfortunately takes 4 clicks to toggle when both of the 'free' routes are backed up.
I can almost always count on it's ETA calculation, too. It's nice to be able to call ahead 30 minutes and say... "hey, hon, I'll be 15 minutes late because there's an accident on I-40"... and then show up 45 minutes later, on the dot.
I agree that it would be nice if the 'road hazards' for cars way off to the side was a different icon so I could tell that the orange triangle coming up ahead is really something I should avoid (tire debris, or an out of control pothole for example).
If I remember, I check the map from my desk before I leave with the 'live map': https://www.waze.com/livemap?zoom=11&lat=35.81002&lon=-78.89317
It's owned and operated by Dish Network, but it is streamed over your internet connection, and it is as close to "cutting the cord" and "pay per channel" that you can get at this point in time.
Jordan Lake has an eagle observation platform off of NC-751 6.5 miles north of US-64 - more details here
It faces southwest and gives you a view of the sunset over the lake - pretty spot and usually quiet - short (1/2 mile) hike in from the parking lot.
Here’s a good academic history: Brain Magnet: Research Triangle Park and the Idea of the Idea Economy (Columbia Studies in the History of U.S. Capitalism) https://www.amazon.com/dp/0231184913/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_TVNCHJS3A24QAJ6NY2Y9
There's a boat ramp on falls of neuse rd, by the old bridge. There's construction there right now, but it's open. Then you can get out on Capital Blvd (the access point there is gated, the gate is open most of the time, but just in case I would park my car outside the gate. There's also a ramp on Buffalo Rd. and river access at Newbern avenue (careful because there's a small damn there, somewhat off topic, but some children just drown there not too long ago) You can float down the river in a couple of hours from the Falls of Neuse Ramp to Capital Blvd. Maybe I'll make a map... I really should be working instead of making these: Here's the map: https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid=201161261924962868638.0004c7b84503d4d6957df&msa=0&ll=35.760435,-78.532151&spn=0.007461,0.013937
Lake Crabtree has hiking, walking trails, picnic space, and inexpensive boat/kayak/paddleboard rentals.
NC Botanical Gardens in Chapel Hill has gardens, hiking, and sometimes special events. The Raulston Arboretum in Raleigh also has gardens.
The Eno River State Park has hiking, historical sites, and sometimes special events, including paddling.
You could also check out events like "Last Fridays" in Hillsborough, Second Fridays in Chapel Hill, or Third Fridays in Durham-- there is usually free music, art, vendors, shops open late, entertainment, etc. at these events.
Geocaching is free & a lot of fun if you like to spend time outdoors. You can just install a free app like "c:geo" (for Android) to get started. Geocaching can be done almost anywhere in the Triangle, from urban areas to any of the aforementioned parks!
Or, you can just use Waze. They're everywhere this week. Google Play | iFruits
Had nothing better to do, and I feel strongly about this, so here's a start.
I'm a libertarian, so I use pretty strong language, but I would very much like people to brush it up, offer up some sources, and tell me what parts are weak or over the top. Never written one of these before.
The document is editable for anyone with the link. I went ahead and put in one of the names, but don't forget to change the Reps name and office number. Both are listed in the links off of the OP's link.
Edit: Published under a different account so I'm not slapping my full name all over it.
Edit2: Looks like the street address can also be different, according to the representatives' profile pages. If you change the name of the recipient, make sure to change the office number, and verify the street address! Also, remember that changes to this document are committed even if you don't click "save".
This is exactly what you are NOT looking for but I'll say it anyway... just to hear myself talk:
I just bought a Whetstone from amazon and am amazed how easy it is with the right equipment. I was using a diamond stone and gave up. This was cheap and I get a perfect edge in minutes. The edge lasts longer than using the diamond. Don't forget to use a steel everytime you use the knife anyway.
iFixit is a website that sells parts & tools and provides teardown/repair guides. I've had very good experiences with them.
iFixandRepair is the name of the store in Crabtree which is not, in any way, affiliated with iFixit.
Tons of cool ones in there. This one is probably my favorite (though getting across the river is kind of choose your own adventure):
https://www.alltrails.com/explore/trail/us/north-carolina/piney-mountain-trail
My plan is to just cancel it and use my neighbor's via one of these. The neighbor is fine with the plan since I provide all of his home IT support anyways. I've tested the setup and get ~70/25 Mbps down/up, which is fine for our needs. I'll wait till the cancellation goes through, then sign up again with my partner's name and get a discounted rate for a while. Then rinse and repeat. All we can get is spectrum on our street. Google fiber and ATT have fiber at the end of our street, but they never ran it down to our houses.
There's also a two-volume history by William Link, published by the Research Triangle Foundation https://www.amazon.com/Generosity-Spirit-History-Research-Triangle/dp/0964805103 . It's academic but also definitely the "authorized biography." Has some maps, photos, and brochures. I have a copy of the first book and would lend it, if you're nearby. I wish there was as history club or something.
I remember an issue with Time Warner Cable using their own CDN with Youtube, causing major slowdowns, and you could essentially block their IP, forcing the video to stream directly from Google. Haven't heard if AT&T does the same thing.
The only other options I can think of are making sure you're playing in 480p (Seriously, 360 and 240 can actually be slower), or you can see if disabling DASH in Youtube is still an option.
EDIT: Another option you have is to try using a VPN service, such as Private Internet Access. You'll be amazed at how fast your videos will stream with it if your ISP is throttling stuff like Youtube and Netflix.
Caveat: I haven't been there in years.
HOWEVER, I do think Three Ridges Wilderness in central VA sounds like exactly the hike you're looking for in option 1. It's just over 13 miles with relatively easy terrain. There are AT cabins about halfway through next to a nice little natural wading pool.
$800 a month for a decent gated apartment won't be easy in the triangle. We've looked around a lot.
My wife works with the Durham police so she knows intimately which neighborhoods are actually bad and which are just historically bad or maligned by rich white boys who think no cheese shop is a bad neighborhood. The only place she won't live is within a half mile of McDougal Terrace. Do not live anywhere in easy walking distance of McDougal Terrace, NC Central University, or Durham Tech. There's a lot of pawn shops with cops hanging around near Miami and Holloway too. Probably don't want to live there. Those are all right next to each other, though, so there's basically just one largish area you should never, ever live in. Otherwise there aren't that many bad neighborhoods; Durham has some projects and some gang problems, but overall it's gentrifying very fast.
Try hard to find a place with central air conditioning that looks passably insulated. Summer without central air is either very expensive or very uncomfortable.
We go to Dr. Fisher, and he's been great. He's right off of capital by his address its off capital by durant park. He doesn't have a website, just a straight up great vet.
We did Neuse River instead of the Dan a couple times and it was pretty fun! The river is slower and more shallow but much closer than the Dan.
Here's a link to the google streetview of the one you posted.
I was just out there last Saturday. We just hung out at the beach and I cobbled together a video using two cameras I had bought, a ContourHD and a GoPro. The weather didn't entirely cooporate, hence the apocalyptic music.
Sure. That is but one of many reasons why someone may be interested in Bitcoin. I only have this wait times site for Wake County (pretty darned accurate) - got it from a friend - not sure if they have it for other counties:
Here you go, the Triangle Events calendar. I made it because I could never find one place that had everything going on. And it still doesn't have everything going on. But it has more than most.
[For sale] Lenovo flex 14 inch 2 in 1 laptop, 3rd gen ryzen excellent condition used a handful of times. Asking $500 https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/518154372319572/

Comes from a home with a very fluffy dog!
I do the Triangle Events calendar. If you'd like to contribute to that one, let me know. I don't get paid for it or anything, just wanted a calendar of events like you (but not just cheap/free).
Also check out gogoRaleigh which has a pretty good calendar.
I use Kerry Dwyer. She does both my business and personal taxes. I settled on her because she was listed as an accountant in my area who work with clients who use Wave Accounting. Turns out it's just me and one other client who use Wave, but she's still good.
She's also the only accountant that I've ever used.. So take that as you will.
Hi! Thanks for the tip about mobile formatting - we'll have to look into how to make the tables show up better. I'll try to answer your questions the best I can:
Thanks for sharing your stimulus check with charity orgs and local businesses. I'm sure that will make a big difference to our neighbors too.
In solidarity, BCMA
Chengdu 7 has some pretty good Sichuan dishes, but Szechuan Taste on Tryon is better for pure Szechuan food.
I'm not saying this to denigrate Chengdu 7 as they are really, really good. We took my Taiwanese inlaws to Chengdu 7 for Chinese New Year last year, so its definitely legit food.
Unfortunately, Szechuan Taste is closed until the pandemic is over.
Or, just be a parent.

I got some steel toe Keen work shoes from Amazon for less than $100 - these ones. They have women's steel toe shoes and boots also.
>You're advising me to cut a power line that I believe is hot?
You can confirm this fairly easily. Just pick up a multimeter with a clamp function like this one. Not shilling that particular model, just a random example.
I got these, very helpful for me this morning to reach the top of my small SUV:

Thanks for sharing this!
In a similar vein, this book talks specifically about the Republican plan to control all state legislatures through systematic redistricting starting in 2008. They've been immensely successful in their plan, called REDMAP. (yes - REDMAP - Redistricting Majority Project)
The Amazon excerpts of the introduction give a good sense of the book, then a state by state breakdown of their actions starting in 2008. Wake County libraries have this book - I'd recommend it.

I've been cutting my own hair with a clipper for several months now. I do #3 on the sides and #8 on top, the ear guards for around the ears, and use a baseball cap as a guide to do the back of my neck.
I use a clipper like this: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Wahl-Color-Pro-21-Piece-Cordless-Hair-Clipper-Set-Model-9649/54317085
And a mirror like this to see the back of my head: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BMYL5LB/
When this is all over I don't know if I'll go back to a barber or not. It's pretty quick to cut my own hair at home, it basically looks the same, and it's free.
Couple of thoughts. You could set up a VPN via Open VPN & a small linux server, it would have to be the first thing hitting your network. I think there are VPN devices out there as well.
You can try Private Internet Access but they don't have a server in the area.
I'd highly recommend you pick up a copy of "C++ Primer Plus" by Stephen Prata. It really doesn't have to be the latest edition, so you can probably get a cheap used copy either from Amazon or a used book store. It's a fantastic book for teaching yourself C++ and it totally got me through my C++ classes in college.
I'm a guitar player and I will say, it is hard getting musicians gifts because so much depends on their personal playing and fashion styles. Plus you don't know what they might already have.
For example, yeah getting him a notebook is thoughtful, but what if he doesn't like the way it looks? Or just isn't a notebook guy? I know I personally wouldn't ever use a notebook, and I'm way older than him.
You could get him strings but there are so many different sizes and materials that you might get him a type of string he can't use. I do think this is a great gift IF you are positive you're getting the correct type, but you'd have to ask him and spoil it being a surprise.
That said, I have gotten some music related gifts that I really appreciated. One year, I got a really nice guitar strap. Like a super heavy duty, thick, durable leather one. I love the way it looks and feels, but there's a bit of a risk that he might think it's ugly. Again, fashion as a gift is always risky. But this is a very practical gift that can make his life as a guitarist much better!
Another was a string winder bit. Basically, if you have a power drill, it's just a little chunk of metal and plastic you stick into the chuck (instead of a screwdriver bit) that can wind and unwind your strings quickly. Changing strings manually takes forever, the bit reduces it down to 2-3 minutes. But they're only like $5, and he does need to already have a power drill (another very practical gift for anyone entering adult life).
Other practical ideas are a big bag of of picks (thin or medium gauge), a stick-on pick holder, nice instrument cables (I like monster brand, 12-foot), a clip-on tuner, or a nice gig bag.
I've been the previous 2 years and it keeps getting better and better. Check out the Facebook event page for the full list of artists and vendors. 380 RSVPs with 150 maybes, should be a great turnout and the weather looks amazing.
If it at least buzzes when you apply power, it could just be stuck. You could try using one of these things, or equivalent hex wrench to get it spinning freely:
https://www.amazon.com/InSinkErator-WRN-00-Wrenchette-Size-Silver/dp/B000BQ7WE0
I strongly recommend a decent battery jump starter you can leave in your car. (I bought one of these years ago but there are a ton of options out there.) Not only can you jump start your own car w/o waiting for a good samaritan or roadside assist but it makes giving someone else a jump start so much easier since you don't need your car to do it.
I'm getting gigapower tomorrow but I'll wear this shirt when I get it! I'm not sure I want Google Fiber anyway after I read that Google sends evil letters to you if they detect you downloading something illegitimate.
Your antenna won't pick up those channels because it can't receive the signal. Buildings/trees/etc. are between your antenna and the transmitter locations, which are different for WRAL and PBS.
I've been using this antenna for a few years and can pick up 65+ channels including ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, PBS, CW, and all of the other sub channels and stuff that I never watch. I'm located northwest of Durham between downtown and Hillsborough, so at least 30 miles from the Garner transmitters and maybe 10 miles from the PBS NC transmitter. The antenna is mounted on my roof at a height of around 25 ft.
For those who want to roast on their own. Here's what I'm using. I used a charcoal chimney filled about 3/4 with charcoal. https://www.amazon.com/Kingsford-Grilling-BB0466-Chimney-Charcoal/dp/B07TM721ZS
I've got a little cooling rack from the dollar tree similar to this: https://www.amazon.com/cookie-cooling-racks-wire-rack-for-baking/dp/B06X9KLW1P
It's blistering hot, and roasts the skins in no time flat. I use this same setup for roasting peppers, eggplant, and tomatoes.
I use this stuff. Little dots in corners where kids/pets can't reach and your roach problem is gone in a couple weeks. Apply liberally in crawl spaces, reapply every 4-6 months.
DEAD BUG.
Indoor spray: Bengal Gold. tps://www.amazon.com/Roach-Spray-Pack-of-3/dp/B00PT8WXMQ
Indoor bait: https://www.amazon.com/Advion-Cockroach-Tubes-Control-Syngenta/dp/B0148W0WOE
Outdoor spray: https://www.amazon.com/Ortho-Defense-Insect-Perimeter-Gallons/dp/B00C4TS86I/ref=sr_1_8?crid=25A6N37GDYP9M
Caulk:
> My question is, are these the normal roaches that everyone deals with in NC?
Yes.
> Will Advion work? Caulk. If you have big holes where the buggers can get in. They will. Check pipes, around dryer vent, etc. Fill in any holes.
Advion is an indoor bait. If you have roaches, they smell this stuff, eat it, they take it home to their roach families and they die. This stuff works and if you have a human baby crawling on floors, you can put this where they can't get it and not worry about your kid crawling around on bug poisons.
They key part (If you have roaches). I'd rather have them move in and I don't have any human babies crawling on the floor. So I recommend Bengal Gold for an indoor spray. It's both a poison and long lasting growth inhibitor. You spray this around where roaches are likely to come in. Under sinks, under washer dryers etc.
Perimeter Defense. This is a higher grade poison you can apply outdoors. This is what you should spray around your deck, around your porch, your front/back door threshold, near light fixtures, underneath porch roof, steps.
> winged yet flightless demons
The fuckers can fly when they decide to. Kinda like a chicken, they are not very good at it.
This was the only thing has worked for me in multiple settings. I've had both a car and a new apartment be completely roach free within a week of usage. A handful of friends have used it per my recommendation and all have had equal, quick success.
I hope it helps!
I've had this https://www.amazon.com/Household-Essentials-17135-1-Outdoor-Parallel/dp/B0018DVN04 in my back yard near my house for 14 years. It is against the rules of our HOA, but no one has said anything yet.
You might want to consider a self cleaning litter box. IME they are amazingly effective. Change the tray every three or four weeks for a single cat. amazon.com/PetSafe-ScoopFree-Automatic-Self-Cleaning-Litter/dp/B07WZPJ2LW?
I’m a conservation arborist specialized in NC and the southeast US. If you are interested in native species for the greatest biodiversity, our top three are:

I’m a graduate of Wake County schools. I got a great education BEFORE the pay raise. I’m not disagreeing that teachers could be paid more, and that low pay has effects on retention. But I’m saying that what you pay your teachers or what you spend on students is not correlated with high student performance. That’s not an opinion, it’s a fact backed by numerous studies.
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Time-Out-Volleyball-League/226458797365559 Time out is nearish to the airport, i don't know a thing about volley ball, but i know that i hear of alot of people playing there.

FL transplant here. it is extremely humid. Ft Lauderdale, Miami, the Keys, Naples, Tampa, Jacksonville, Port St Lucie, Panama City Beach, Pensacola, St Augustine, Daytona Beach, Ft Myers, Sarasota, tons of major places are right off the ocean and it lives in the air. even the most inland "habitable" (non-Everglades) portion of Broward County is 30 minutes from the beach.
also is more consistently hot in south florida. comparing south FL to raleigh:
https://www.accuweather.com/en/us/raleigh/27601/july-weather/329823 occasional periods of 80s, lows around 70
https://www.accuweather.com/en/us/sunrise-fl/33351/july-weather/337629 almost all days in the 90s and nights around 76, occasionally dropping to the low 70s
I've passed it several times, and thought this place would be an awesome spot for photos... there is a house beside, i don't know the people but it may be worth knocking on the door and letting them know what you want to do and asking them. If i were them, i would plant wildflowers inside the cars ;) you can view street level on this link also
And no parallel parking. I prepared to parallel park the other day which really impressed my friend. But, after a moment, he said "oh, you're sideways." http://www.ehow.com/video_1872_parallel-park.html
Expanding on OP -- Mystery Brewing quizmaster, and all around British delight, Richard will be hosting a special pub quiz for the cause of community radio.
Friday, 13th of March (yes, Friday the 13th)
7 pm
Mystery Brewery (NOT the Public House)
Suggested donation $10 for community radio.
I drive from Chapel Hill out to Hillsborough every Wednesday just for his trivia as I find it to be some of the most challenging and stimulating in the Triangle (and I've tried a lot of them). I'm excited to get to attend even more trivia with Richard at the helm.
With all of the denizens of /r/Triangle, I know that we have the required brainpower to actually win one of his challenging quizzes. Let's do it! Who is on team /r/Triangle?
Here is a flyer for the event.

1) I get all that you would hope for CBS, ABC, NBC, PBS, FOX, CW and about 3 to 6 minor independent channels. (West of Durham)
2) https://www.amazon.com/WA-2608-Amplified-Mounting-Wireless-Rotation/dp/B0748KYTZN/ref=sr_1_45
3) Only CBS is frustrating and marginal. On very windy days a few of the others can be a little choppy. (Rotating the antenna can improve some in poor weather, but CBS will be unwatchable sometimes.)
Saw this in the calendar. Looks like it should be a fun time. Who's going? Perhaps we can have a mini-reddit-meetup.
Got it! I wanna go to those hills -- I'm tired of running a hill that's .6mi long! I was so beat after four repeats (that included a 400m sprint past the bottom of each repeat) I had to walk part of the way back to my car, and could barely run two miles yesterday.
We start and North Cary Park and run the 1+ mile warm up to Dynasty...and yea the actual repeats are done on the road/bike lane/sidewalk of West Dynasty with a semi flat straight on Sudburry link.
The Hill workout changes every week though. This is one of the more brutal ones.
Looks like they WERE coming to the Lincoln Theater on November 5th

But people on facebook are complaining about cancelled dates in Greensboro and Raleigh. As "fuck_" points out, they've rescheduled it to Dec 30th.
The Carrboro Beverage Company is the place to be. They have free tastings every Thursday 7-9, and a few beers on tap. Super friendly, super knowledgeable staff who will help you with anything you need. Mix and match six packs are available, or you can buy by the bottle if you want. It's got a pretty great atmosphere, too.
I'm sorry this happened to you :(
Have you called the Better Business Bureau or NC's Consumer Protection Agency (link below)? I think providing the information that they are not a good company at the very least keeps them from doing this to someone else. I would post on any review site as well.
It costs money, but you can file in small claims court. Or have an attorney write a letter, sometimes if someone/business has multiple creditors, this will push them to pay you first.

Shiki Sushi off 54 and Fayetteville is also open. They're more Asian fusion with sushi and have some Chinese options.
Also, here's a regularly updated list of the place is open in Durham.
To clarify, the way this stuff works is that it's a chemical that reacts inside their bodies after a period of time. But it takes a while to kick in. So they eat some, carry it back to their nest, poop it out or die and the other roaches cannibalize them. They don't all have to visit the bait application. Within a week you'll be completely roach free. I've recommended it to friends and it's worked every time.
Of course! It's actually called Mosquito Bits SUMMIT CHEMICAL CO 117-6 30OZ Mosquito Bits (Packaging May Vary) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0001AUF8G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apan_glt_fabc_8ZWY0J09KKGMCXK7SST1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Low profile earmuffs like these, work pretty well in noisy apartments. Take some getting used to though
I have sensitive skin too. I’m not a dermatologist so I’ll just share my routine.
Skin produces oil to moisturizer and protect itself. So oils and serums work better at replacing moisture. Creams and lotions are great at sealing in moisture, not so great at replacing it.
I do a bentonite clay mask (brand: aztech secret. Found at whole foods) once a week, followed by witch hazel astringent ( make sure it does not have alcohol), and then moisturizer (I like this one ). I use this moisturizer on my face, hands, and arms followed by Everyday Shea body lotion everyday. I do not put a lotion or cream on my face because it is too much for my face. If I need to, I will reapply the oil later in the day.
Now if the heat is on, especially in the car, my shins become desert dry and I put Burts Bees Farmers Friend hand salve on my shins with lotion on top. It fixes that problem before it gets to the “holy crap I’m so itchy I want to claw my skin off” stage.
Cracked heels. O’keefe makes a cracked heel salve that works great. The burts bees salve works well too. I prefer to use it during the day and at night a do a really heavy application of oil and lotion and then socks (so it stays on my feet and not the bed)
Before I used the Ancient Greek Remedy oil I linked I used fractionated coconut oil (or the solid) and that worked really well too. Straight olive oil was too heavy for me. I use grapeseed and coconut oil for work (massage therapist) and clients love it because they are not heavy oils that leave you feeling like you have been deep fried.
You can also shave with oil, it’s a little messier and gums up the razor but it might a good option until your face has sometime to recover.
And last but not least: Drink TONS of water! Gotta hydrate from the inside.
Hope this helps! Dry cracked skin is the worst.
I have been reading online and found that you can order a piece that accepts 20 oz paint ball CO2 tanks and use it in place of sodastream brand tanks. So instead of paying sodastream 20+ dollars for a refill in CO2, you can get the paint ball tanks refilled for about 4 dollars at most places. It’s just a matter of time before I am able to find one of those places in the area lol. It’s also food grade safe!

This is what I do too. I get the XL sized ones cause my cat is kind of big. I've found in apartments there's not an acceptable (to me) way to clean a plastic litter box anyway so I get these. If you are good about scooping every day they do last two months, but if you get lax for whatever reason, they only last one. I use these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0087Y5OIE/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I'd recommend getting a bellows duster for diatomaceous earth. You don't want to breath it in and it is very hard to clean up off of rough surfaces like brick.
This kind of misleading sensationalism belongs in r/politics. The article plainly states:
> "I hope it does increase," Hayes said of the prospect of further state government layoffs.
Hayes here is clearly referring to the downsizing of the state government workforce, not the state unemployment rate. The title of this post is thus highly disingenuous.
Indeed, it's entirely possible for the government to downsize its workforce while the overall unemployment rate decreases. Logically, all that is required is for the private sector to hire more new employees than are laid off by the government (adjusted proportionally for changes in the size of the labor supply). The inverse is also possible: the unemployment rate can increase while the the number of government employees also increases. Do not masquerade these two things as equivalent.
Additionally, the temporary unemployment which is caused by laying off government employees is, in the long run, less detrimental than the consequences of retaining them for fear of causing such unemployment. If this concept is unclear, I recommend reading Henry Hazlitt's Economics in One Lesson, Chapter IX. It begins like this:
>When, after every great war, it is proposed to demobilize the armed forces, there is always a great fear that there will not be enough jobs for these forces and that in consequence they will be unemployed. It is true that, when millions of men are suddenly released, it may require time for private industry to reabsorb them—though what has been chiefly remarkable in the past has been the speed, rather than the slowness, with which this was accomplished. The fears of unemployment arise because people look at only one side of the process.
Edit for clarity.
I just found this by searching, no experience with this outfit.
OP, I had the exact same concerns about sharpening my own knives. I have great hand eye coordination and can definitely be very delicate with my hands, but I know I'm still going to struggle to hold the proper angle with a flat stone line like that. Takes a lot of practice to get good and consistent at that sharpening motion.
Solution: I bought a Spyderco Triangle Sharpmaker from Amazon. What this style of product does is handle the angle work for you by design, offers a 30 degree and 40 degree edge. You simply take the triangular stones and slide them into the base so that they make a "v" shape, and then you sharpen the blade by keeping it verticle and dragging it towards yourself across the stones, alternating between sides stroke by stroke.
Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2DDpB8Pjho
I really can't recommend this product enough. Although, to anyone who is interested, I found that I got the best results when I purchased an additional set of triangle stones that are the "ultra fine" grit. All told I think I spent $70 and now I don't have to focus on maintaining the exact angle with a whetstone.
I have a used modem and router available, both in good shape
the modem is on time warners approved modem list or whatever it's called

$80 takes em both
I frequently download large Linux ISOs, so the 300Mbps makes it nice. I was just considering price in those modems - why buy an Arris 6121 for $84 when you can get an SMC D3CM1604 for $15 cheaper? You may want to upgrade your speed one day and would have to buy a whole new modem if you have a 6121.

/u/bagodees posted this info (in respect to roaches at least) a long time ago and it has worked wonders for me:
They are much worse at apartment/townhouse condos since there are so many people and so many connected units all in one building. Here's the deal: when you see one, it's got at least 47 buddies that are behind you laughing at you because you can only actually see the guy that's running in the spotlight. The traps and sprays you get at the local stores don't work, and actually make the roaches worse because that's how those pesticide companies make money. The same deal goes for the pest guys that the apt management contracts with - if all the pests disappear, then their business dries up. That said, there's hope for you. I have found that the only stuff that works are these two products: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002ACMKV8?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage and http://www.amazon.com/Advion-Cockroach-Gel-Bait-4-syringes/dp/B002Y2GNVM/ref=pd_sim_328_20?ie=UTF8&refRID=0GTNZZ7FKR4006TZM0TM You can get a standard 1 gallon sprayer at Home Depot for the Cy-Kick CS. Spray that shit around your problem areas. The gel bait is for if your problem is really bad - place those in the same areas until you don't see anymore roaches. These products are highly toxic, but they do work. Just make sure you follow the instructions, wear protective equipment when applying the pesticides, and keep your pets away from treated areas.
All I have is the TG1672 That was provided when TWC installed. Should I also get a router?
Everything had been going well until last week or so. It is bizarre.
I love my dentist and dental hygienist. Even though they aren't in network and I end up paying more for the experience they were worth it. I too had a pretty long dental break, and it took me trying a couple of other offices until I found one I liked. I've had scaling done and get regular follow-up treatments from them.
I see Dr Dolfi, although I'm sure Dr Mann is also nice.
Something that is important, and that I've had a good experience with is to ask questions. All the dental hygienists were always happy to explain things/work with me so I understood everything, but ask. Ask them to watch you floss, ask them about angles to hold toothbrush, etc.. If you are at all unsure about proper care, ask and they will be happy to help you.
I also strongly recommend getting a water pik. It doesn't completely replace flossing, but it works great. Use the standard tip at a 6-7 level, spend about a 4 count between teeth, then travel along the tooth's gum line on the way to the next between. Do this along the outside and inside gums. I still floss a couple of times a week and water-pik the rest of the nights and it has done a world of good for my gums.
I've got 35c studded tires - they worked OK for me. I didn't fall, although it felt kind of sketchy at times.
Big thing is traffic. Very few cars were out and about. When I did get near one I just pulled over, since I don't trust drivers on this stuff. That car at the light is the only one I saw moving on the road for like 5 minutes.
I saw a guy out there with a fat bike, he was killing it. But I can't see buying a fat bike to ride in the like 2 days a year we get snow.
In case anyone sees this Monday, Nov 23 - is the following ($150 down from $220) a worthy investment to make before the one-day discount ends?
I'm still weighing everything people have suggested here but it seems this would be part of the picture. Thanks!
I've had pretty good results from the ultracheap chinese resellers on Amazon. I bought this the other day: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BXX42LQ?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00
Other sellers were charging 4.50$ for a single clip! It was even Prime eligible.
If you want a docsis 3.0 modem that will handle Time Warner's 300Mbps package and don't want to spend the money for the SB6183, then your best choice is this one - http://www.amazon.com/SMC-Networks-D3CM1604-Comcast-Approved/dp/B00LI1F32U/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top?ie=UTF8
FYI - Time Warner isn't going to upgrade to DOCSIS 3.1 in the next 2-5 years, so you'll be fine with this SMC modem. It's also $35 cheaper than the SB6183.
