I've been using Download Helper (firefox) for awhile now, but every time I see a movie posted in 1080p I don't actually see a 1080p file for download. Youtube has an option to select 1080p but I suspect its stretching the 720p one.
Am I missing something?
EDIT: Looked up some 4K videos and didn't see any options for files larger than 720, maybe I've missed a setting somewhere?
EDIT2: Apparently youtube changed their system which made it so the videos are split into multiple files so most add-ons and plugins can't do higher than 720. Keepvid shows that you can get 1080, but it's video only, the audio is separate. Still looking to see if there was a workaround.

I used this guide
It didn't take long to figure out that it has tons in common with photoshop, which I have some experience with. If you're having issues with GAP, my guess is it's installed incorrectly, or you could be loading a huge file that's causing the issue.
I didn't want to spend the time with a huge movie, and I don't know that my computer could have handled it, so I found a clip on youtube and used 4k video downloader to get it on my computer in mp4 format
The hard part was getting the size down. My first attempt was something over 20mb and it was the entire scene. I kept lowering the size and resolution, optimized, and started cutting frames from the beginning and end. Down to where it was just enough for the whole thing to make sense. Went from 202 frames to 121.
I think I did a good job for my first try, but I consider it a notch above acceptable. /u/EditingAndLayout sets the bar pretty damn high
Seems this program 4kDownload will do it for you, but you'll only be able to download playlists with under 25 videos (so no sonic playlist).
If you're on PC/Mac try this video downloader 4KVideo http://www.4kdownload.com/products/product-videodownloader
If you're on an android mobile, try this (but it has a shit ton of ads) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.app.downloadmanager
There are two ways: 1. Pay for YouTube Premium and you can download them from the mobile app 2. Use an online service or an installable program like 4K Downloader.
I'm not a lawyer and I assume that downloading YouTube videos for anything but personal consumption is a breach of their ToS.
It's not a perfect solution, but you can use something like 4K Video Downloader to download high res youtube videos to watch without buffering.
ha awesome! Now if you want to go the extra mile and guarantee that song doesn't get deleted again (and lost forever) you can download the same program I've been using. Just download a copy of the vid with the program below. And when you notice something's been deleted in your youtube playlist just reupload it with the copy on your hard drive.
.
You'll need to download 4K Video Downloader. http://www.4kdownload.com/products/product-videodownloader
Then all you have to do is paste the YT link and choose 4k and it downloads the full video w/ audio. It's about 250 MB.
Just for fun, I also ran the video using VLC Player with my old PC with an AMD Athlon 64 2800+ "ClawHammer" CPU with a GeForce 7600 GS and it had a struggle. The CPU maxed out at 100% and it wouldn't go past the first frame.
4k Video Downloader is free and lets you snag videos off Youtube. Plus it's simple as hell and works when a lot of other video downloaders don't work. Thanks, Reddit!
