This is also a pretty great tool. It's not a full-blown file management system really, but it's really nice to not have to plug in every time I want to grab a photo off my phone.
Ever since I had a Galaxy S2 I've always seemed to run into problems with USB to PC with phones. So, I looked all over and found a great solution. It's a APP called Airdroid. It does it all wirelessly and works amazing. I transfered 2000 songs in 10 minutes to my phone flawlessly. It can do anything. Videos, photos, music, text and even contacts.
I highly recommend it. http://www.airdroid.com/
You could probably download the stock ROM and transfer it over via Airdroid, boot in to recovery and flash the stock ROM.
MAKE SURE YOU DOWNLOAD THE RIGHT ROM FOR YOUR DEVICE, the one linked is 4.4.2 stock for the 2013 N7 WIFI

To boot in to recovery you turn off the tablet and hold Power+ Volume Down.
As for relocking the bootloader or restoring the stock recovery I haven't a clue how to do it without access to the USB port.
edit: fixed link to flashable zip
If you're using an Android phone you can download AirDroid. It lets you sync up your phone with your computer and you can just reply to texts without having to take your phone out at all.
Nope. The AirMirror feature on AirDroid Win/Mac is similar to teamviewer. And bluestacks is Android Emulator. They are different. Have a look at our home page and you may know more: http://www.airdroid.com
When I use a Nexus tab or switch to android, one of the first apps I get is airdroid. I've found a couple handy alternatives for the iPhone.
For the iPhone, I use VNC when I want to use my computer without using the a monitor, or in my case, my TV, or even perhaps when I'm on my ps4 and don't want to switch inputs constantly to my TV. It's really great. This also allows me to use my iPhone as a mouse, and has saved me on more than 1 occasion.
Another app I would recommend would be Air Video, you can use a server and stream all sorts of movies and videos to an apple tv device. Me and my friends use eachother's media servers to watch whatever movies are available.
I just dump my music on to the phone via USB. This gives zero automated management but it's tried and true.
Plug the phone in to a USB cable connected to a computer, it may take 30 seconds or so for the computer to install drivers/recognize the device.
You then have to set the phone to MPT mode, to do this swipe down the notification bar and press the new USB notification and check the MPT check box.
After this the phone should show up on the computer as SAMSUNG-SM-N910V or whatever your phone's model number is (varies per carrier).
You will then see Card, Phone or both. Phone being the phone's internal storage, and Card being the MicroSD card if you have one inserted. Simply drop the music where you want (I use a folder aptly named 'Music' on the removable storage).
For reference:
The internal storage directory is /storage/emulated/0
The removable storage directory is /storage/exSdCard
Airdroid - Transfer files wirelessly (including non-music files)
doubleTwist - Transfer and manage music (a la iTunes) wirelessly or through USB
Google Music - not an alternative per se, but allows you to play music through your data connection that you upload to your Google Music account, also the subscription allows for unlimited music without needing to upload as their library is rather substantial (like Spotify or rdio).
I converted it for ARChon. It works until you load the camera list, after which it crashes. It won't stay up longer than a millisecond after that. Here it is anyways if you want to mess around with it.
Also, look into converting apps for yourself...it's not too complicated and it allows you to try these things quickly. First you have to obtain the APK for the app you want, I'll leave that up to you. Airdroid can be used to legitimately retrieve APKs from your own Android device, though it won't be able to grab most paid apps (even if you did pay for them).
Then use the Setup for Chrome OS / App Conversion guide to install a tool that'll automatically convert things for you. Whenever the guide instructs you to enter a command (looks like code), you want to do that in your command prompt. Windows' command prompt can be found by searching "cmd" in the Start Menu search. Besides that, I'll tell you that the command prompt generally operates on the directory that shows up in front of the ">" symbol...
C:\Users\Ballsack>
That means your current directory is "Ballsack", and any files you want to operate on should go there. I'm being vague here, but you'll pick it up if you just run with it. Don't go deleting system32 or anything though! Just realize if you're in over your head so you won't mess anything up (you probably won't mess anything up).
I'm being lazy here, sorry, but airdroid explains things itself on the first run, and here's a link to their site which should help explain it's capabilities : AirDroid
I'll certainly answer any specific queries I can but I am feeling too heavy in head to give a full run down.
I skipped the SD Card portion by downloading Airdroid app and just uploading it via the browser. http://www.airdroid.com/
Edit: Scratch the other portion. They've updated CMW and CM11 is now possible.
TBH, I only recently got it, and have not identified many differences, you can use key shortcuts though. Anyone else notice anything else, I can't imagine that's all.
Are either of these better for desktop management of tunes?
This happened to me too, at least the way the graph looks. Doesn't matter what charger (stock or otherwise) or cable I use. I also have an LG inductive charger and it does the same thing. Phone isn't recognized when it's plugged into the computer either.
Luckily if I turn it completely off or let it die, it will charge, but only on the inductive charger, and even then barely. I was able to get it up to around 50% to do some backups and wipe/return to stock for my RMA. :-(
Since the USB port is busted, or at least it does not connect to my computer, I had to use AirDroid to transfer my backups off to my computer. Then I used BootUnlocker to relock my bootloader since I couldn't get fastboot to work. Flashed a stock rom and stock recovery from CWM and now I'm ready for my RMA device, whenever that ships....
