Due App keeps reminding you over and over and over and over and over again to do tasks you've entered into its calendar system.
This works great for me, because in other situations when a reminder comes when I have other things going on, I forget the reminder all together.
The important thing is to mark it down early and often.
There are many, many ways to do it. I basically live in Google Calendar, and refer to and update it (& Google Keep) throughout the day.
I carve out time in Google Calendar when there's something I need to do and can do at a specific time. If I need to volubly be reminded of something (which apps tend not to be pushy enough about) I set loud, repeating alarms in Due app.
Grocery lists are created easy-peasy in Anylist.
All major and minor lists and checklists go into Google Keep.
For me this was the best discovery. I love it for repeated reminders for smaller tasks. I started small, setting reminders for the bins, gym sessions etc but over the year it’s grown.
It’s a simple to use app with a lot of functionality packed into it.
OP, you may want to check out the Due reminders/timers app, which may solve your “dismiss alarms” complaint.
The developers (http://www.dueapp.com) did make an ad video when they released their 2.0 version, but to see what I’m referring to you should jump to the 4 minute mark of this walkthrough video. Being able to set a repeating alarm, but when getting a notification you can force press it and from the lock screen get four (presumably customizable) options: Mark Done, or to snooze on the reminder for +1 hour, +3 hours, or +1 day. Hit a snooze button on a repeating reminder and get a “change all occurrences” or “only this occurrence” option before it goes away for however long you specify.
I’ve always really liked it (I’ve got a bunch of timers saved on it as well) - if I could replace the timer app with it in Control Center I would.
Due might meet your needs with its auto-snooze features.
> And with auto snooze, Due repeatedly notifies you of overdue reminders until you mark them complete, reschedule them, or turn off their auto snooze.
I use Due. I love this app for one reason: It will keep reminding you until you either do it, defer it, or delete it. The app plays a sound on an interval you set up (every 5 min, every hour, whatever) until you mark it as done. It's not an alarm because you don't have to turn it off to stop the sound. It plays a short 1 or 2 second sound like a text message would, and just keeps doing that on an interval.
This works great for me because, if I set an alarm, I'm just as likely to hit the button to turn it off and forget to do the action as I am to actually stop what I'm doing and go do the action.
I'll pile on here.
Due.
I have freed myself from having to remember to do trivial things like taking the garbage out, changing my contact lenses, applying my dog's flea treatment, paying rent, etc., etc.. The app keeps reminding me until I dismiss it. Now I use my brain power for more important stuff, like Reddit.

It's an app that works really well for reminders. I put something in and it organizes it based on when it's due. It's super fast for inputting things, has text recognition for dates and times, and has customizable buttons to move events forward or backwards super easily/quickly. The main feature that makes this a killer app is that I can set it so that if I don't respond to a reminder by either marking it as done or snoozing it, it will keep reminding me every minute until I deal with it. There are some apps that do this on android, such as BZ reminder, life reminders, etc., but I've found that none of them offer such a good overall package when it comes to UI, UX, and speed. Hence, I have an iPhone, because this app really keeps me on top of things as a student.
1.) Any alarm clock / to-do app that can snooze every minute until you clear it, a la Due?
2.) Student planner comparable to iStudiez Pro, aside from Power Planner and MyStudyLife?
3.) Anything comparable to Snapseed?
It's 95% of the time for me. Occasionally, in the evening, it has problems connecting to the network. I'm in Germany, so I suppose that's the time when all the US west coast users are up ;)
I use Siri mostly for reminders, timers, shopping lists, checking the weather, etc. Works just great and it totally changed the way I use my phone. Before Siri, I would have many different 3rd party apps for each task. Now I just use Siri. In fact I ditched apps like Due completely and put the reminders icon on my first springboard screen, because Siri took over that functionality. Same for the clock app.
If you don't expect too much from it, it will work just fine. I suppose the people who complain about it overestimate its functionality. After all, it's still just a piece of software, not an intelligent being.
That said, it does surprise me sometimes with unexpected awareness and - if you can call it that way - intelligence. And I'm always blown away when I say something like "Remind me every day starting tomorrow at 2pm to stop reading Reddit and get to work" and she understands perfectly what I want and executes it. This is a "magic" moment then.

If you have an iOS device, look at the reminder app, Due.
You can set reminders to do a task a custom length of time after you complete it.
Say you want to clean your oven every two months. Mark the task complete when you've done it and you'll be reminded two months later.
Due on iOS.
> PERSISTENT REMINDERS WITH AUTO SNOOZE
>Overdue reminders stay in sight until you're ready to act on them.
>And with auto snooze,* DUE repeatedly notifies you of overdue reminders until you mark them complete, reschedule them, or turn off their auto snooze.
I paid for http://www.dueapp.com/ and never looked back. Got so sick of stock ios reminders app not persistently reminding me!
I do use google keep though, is this ...another name for that? I'm confused.
Due: The Superfast Reminder App for iPhone & iPad
Use the reminder portion of Due to remind you and then user the Timer for the countdown. And Due's best feature is its persistent notification plus it also runs on the Mac (and syncs via iCloud/Dropbox).
I had a good app on an iphone called Due. The GUI makes it very easy to add tasks and bugs you until they are done. http://www.dueapp.com/
Otherwise, it's very important that I turn as many things into a very specific routine. Here's a link to someone else that does exactly what I'm talking about. https://www.reddit.com/r/ADHD/comments/6bhyg7/im_consistently_inconsistent/dhn6oy2/?st=j47wkt4u&sh=80cfc77f
It's counter-intuitive because it seems so robotic. But, somehow, it turns my ADHD brain off. ADHD brains do pretty well with lots of structure.

seriously this is the only thing ever that consistently keeps me brushing my teeth twice a day
it makes setting up recurring tasks so easy. rather dial in a time number by number, by default it gives you 4 defaults that roughly correspond to "morning, noon, evening, bedtime" and then you fine tune from there.
overdue tasks can have recurring reminders (e.g. every 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 1hr, etc) and a snooze button.
none of this stuff is groundbreaking, the UI is just super nice IMO
I got burned by early versions on Calendar on the Mac so I reluctantly switched to Google Calendar. It's a bit clunky on the web, but it's bombproof and stable and works with Apple Calendar (I don't) as well as 3rd-party Mac apps like Fantastical. For the last few years I've happily used it on my iPhone with Readdle's Calendar app.

Alerts are kind of anemic with this setup (the beep-alert doesn't catch my attention) so if there's something I really need an alert on I use the excellent Due app, which I use for persistent reminders, repeating reminders, and countdown timers:
It's possible that iCloud and Apple Calendar works great now but I'm pretty satisfied with my current setup. If I decide to get an Apple Watch and want reminders passed along to it I'll probably migrate to iOS Fantastical (which has an app for the Watch) before considering migrating my work/personal calendars to Apple/iCloud.
Sounds like you to check out Due
Also, I like the earlier recommendation about using pomodoro apps, I use them to keep me on track (I'm also ADHD and require lots of timers throughout the day; they keep me from hyper-focusing).
He uses an app called Due. I think the feature he likes the most is that overdue reminders stay in sight until you do them. From the website: DUE repeatedly notifies you of overdue reminders until you mark them complete, reschedule them, or turn off their auto snooze.
As far as I know he uses it primarily for daily things, like taking out the trash/washing dishes/etc so it's short term reminders. But it might be worth looking into to manage your list and staggering reminders - like do A today, B next week, C in a month, etc.
I use Due.app for exactly this reason. It's phenomenal for reminding me of habits and near-term reminders. Watch their short intro video on the website for a good overview. The key feature is the "auto-snooze" alerts which ensure you never forget to do something.
Thank you, but I was looking more for something to get me to exercise by annoying me enough...Like an alarm clock, but the snooze button only works after answering a math problem.
