It's just a browser extension, FireShot. Used to be firefox only, but now across most browsers as an add-on. Just install and hit the button to capture the whole page.
Once grabbed, I then cropped the sidebar of shame and empty-headed comments through imgur.
I am so, so sorry:
A plugin for Chrome & Firefox that will take a screenshot of entire page pretty easily. I wish I could have told you about this sooner; I too know the pain of manually stitching together multiple screenshots. =|
Is it WinHTTP? Never used that one. I do use "Save Page WE", a chrome extension. It also, like your comment, saves a webpage (images included) in a single html file.
If you want to save pages as a pdf in a very easy way; Fireshot chrome extension is a good tool as well, although you still will lose the hyperlinks (they become http://getfireshot.com...
Go check GetFireshot out too. It's available for Firefox, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Seamonkey, Thunderbird and Opera. There's also a pro version for additional features, but the free version is just fine to me.
Thank you for your kind words!
The next time you need to do a capture like this, this is an indispensable tool: http://getfireshot.com/ it can capture entire webpages all at once. Any time it gives you problems like pieces of the site showing up repeatedly due to auto-scroll, just disable javascript. It has saved me countless hours.
You've got screenshots of the confession, right? If not, get some. I use Fireshot for this, but nearly anything will do. I'm not on FB but I assume posts can be revised and renewed. Also capture some pictures if you can to show that the profile that's confessing matches with the pictured. Save also a direct link to the confession.
You could on the one hand tell (and mean it) the person doing the confessing that if you don't get a satisfactory payment schedule, you'll go to the cops.
This might, on the other hand, get them to erase/retract the confession. So, I would start with the cops. File a police report, and tell them that the suspect knows you know they stole it, and ask them if the charges can be dropped if the person agrees to pay you back in, say, 30 days? The cop might say "we don't do that kind of thing" (I really have no idea if they do or not) but if I were you, I'd start with the cops because you have the most leverage as long as that confession is up online where a cop can see it; it has the most value there.
That said, it's doubtful that anyone's going to bother a judge to get a warrant to get FB to trace and IP address (etc.) to prove the suspect wrote what they wrote. The cops won't pursue this to the ends of the Earth so you should be looking for a self-remedy in the form of a payment plan. And a lockable door.
when corresponding I use the second way also, but when file naming I use the format 20160214 (yyyymmdd) at the start of the filename so that files can be numerically sorted and remain in correct chronological order. For constantly saving of WIP files in the same day I use yyyymmdd HHmm (24 hour clock)20160214 2359 which also remains in chronological order when sorted by name. This also makes a great automatic naming setting for the start of your filename in programs like Fireshot
