I think he's talking about the NEW Microsoft Edge based on Chromium that released publicly on January 15th.
https://www.microsoft.com/edge
I tried it yesterday, and it has many great features to be honest. Seem like a pretty neat alternative to Google Chrome.
The new Edge offers anything Chrome does plus:
Several months ago, statistics showed Edge has already become the second most used web browser after Chrome.
Chrome is the new Internet Explorer.
The Edge user base is rapidly growing for a reason, and as usual, IT people and enthusiasts are first to make the switch from Chrome.
I don't mean for this to sound dismissive of your problem, but you can try out the new Edge, which is based on the same engine as Chrome.
Might help as a stop-gap measure while you figure out what is going on with Chrome.

Also, in addition to your Norton, install the free trial version of Malwarebytes and run a scan. Quarantine anything/everything it finds. Sometimes it finds stuff ignored by other antiviruses. You can uninstall it afterwards.
Edge is not included in a Windows update yet, and does not require a specific recent version of Windows 10. If you would like to use it you can download it directly from https://www.microsoft.com/edge
Microsoft windows is still broken crap, getting worse by the day.
Why do you expect them to make good web apps?
They know FireFox exists, when I go to skype in FireFox it tells you to use edge or chromium cause FF sucks and won't work. [Paraphrasing]... It did use to specifically say FireFox, but it only specifically says MS Edge now...
Previously skype worked on FF, but when they launch Edge Chromium they killed support. " Download the new Microsoft Edge to access Web.Skype.com and get the best of the web. "
Back when MS was first pounded with anti trust over Internet Explorer.... This would be compelling evidence. But governments don't care anymore.
I'm afraid I'm using Windows so I don't know how well it'll work on your Mac, but Microsoft's new Edge browser is quite good and I like it a lot! They recently moved to the Chromium engine and it's a whole world of improvement over the old browser - and there's a macOS version too :)

Hey, friend! I'm sorry to see any installation issues on Windows 7! Which version of Edge are you attempting to install? We have our Stable version here, but we also have Insider channels that you could be downloading. Could you share an image of the error you are seeing now that you've done the support steps, please? This will help me figure out our next steps.
I look forward to chatting with you! :3
Read aloud is currently supported in all channels, including our Stable channel, so what you experienced was likely a bug or another issue at hand. It's possible that users are having an older version installed and not receiving the update in Edge before uninstalling (if they have that option).
I'd love to troubleshoot this with you. Please reinstall Edge, and once it's launched you can head to edge://settings/help. This will force the browser to check for an update and ensure you are up to date. After it completes it, either restart as it says or head straight into going to a site that you want to read aloud. Highlight the text, right-click, and select Read aloud section or Open in Immersive Reader (depending on the options you have there).
If those don't show up or are grayed out, I'll need a few things to be able to get this to the team, all of which can be submitted via our feedback tool. I'm not sure what OS you're using, but you can open the feedback tool on both Windows and Mac by going to the ... menu > Help and feedback > Send feedback. I use Snipping Tool in Windows 10 to get these kind of screenshots, but you can use whatever you are comfortable with to time a screenshot of the right-click menu options you have available. In the feedback tool, you can add this screenshot on by clicking the link for "diagnostic data" and Attach a file. Click the Save button at the bottom right of the window, and it should take you back to the feedback tool (make sure you include those diagnostics). In the description, detail what you are running into and include the URL of your comment from this thread, so that I can easily find it. From there, I can share with the team what is happening and find out our next steps.
I know this is a lot, so thanks for helping us look into what might be happening here! Let me know if anything needs to be clarified, or if you have to submit feedback. :)
I see you got your answer here, we are indeed doing staged roll-out.
That being said, if you haven't yet, you can always download the new Edge ahead of getting the update. When you install this, Edge legacy is "removed" (hidden) until your device receives the update. It's essentially the same as waiting for the update.
Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns, I am happy to help where I can! :D
NP! You can get the new Edge here if you want it: -
https://www.microsoft.com/edge/business/download
Select the following options, then download and install it: -
That will give you the very latest version of Edge, which will replace the old version, and it'll update itself from then on.
Please don't take my suggestion as a joke, but try downloading the new version of Microsoft Edge. It is based on the same "engine" as Chrome. You can import a lot of your Chrome data into it, too.
Most users report that it is really nice and uses less memory than Chrome. If your problems persist, then you have another problem with your computer.
Hey my man, thanks for trying to help but you need to be more specific. Where are you searching? In the Microsoft Edge url bar? That just does a Bing search and the top result is just the Microsoft Edge website to download the browser. Are you using Google? Same top result for me but then I know Google customizes search results (Bring probably does too).
From my Google sleuthing there doesn't appear to be anyway to manually update MS Edge; it is done as a Windows update. I've gone to Start -> Settings -> Update & Security and forced through every Windows Update showing up for me and rebooted three times; Twitch on Edge is still broken. My Windows version is currently Windows 10 Pro version 1909 OS build 18363.815 and my Edge version is Microsoft Edge 44.18362.449.0.
As an alternate until hopefully MS Edge gets fixed, I just found the MS Edge Insider website which is like the beta channel for Edge and Twitch is working with it.
Congrats!
A few thoughts to get you started:
Install Edge Chromium from https://www.microsoft.com/edge. This should be the first thing you do after getting Windows and all Store apps up to date.
Consider using UWP apps from the Store; most UWP apps have native ARM versions.
Where native apps aren't available in the Store, use Edge Chromium to install web sites as Progressive Web Apps.
Most x86 Windows apps will run fine under emulation, but you will encounter a few that will not. You can often fix these by adjusting the emulation compatibility settings. See here for info: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/uwp/porting/apps-on-arm-program-compat-troubleshooter.
Order yourself an official Surface USB-C Audio Adapter from the Microsoft Store. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/surface-usb-c-to-35mm-audio-adapter/92f4tx2c1bqf/dfk4. It sounds amazing and is not expensive.
If you need to a desktop setup, skip the cheap USB-C hubs and get yourself a real Microsoft Surface Dock. You can find them used or refurbished for far less than retail. We have 3 of these in our household and the Pro X works well with them. If you think you will need to use dual 4K displays (for some reason), then hold out for the new Surface Dock 2, rumored to be around the corner.
Good luck with your Pro X!
Since changing my outlook.com passwords a few months ago, it has been working OK for me. I also switched from using legacy Microsoft Edge (the version that comes with Windows 10 by default) to the new Chromium-based Edge around the same time; so I'm not sure whether that makes a difference as well.
From memory, I done the following:
1) Switched to using Chromium Edge, but was still having the problem
2) Removed all my devices (computer/YubiKey) from outlook.com as FIDO2 sign-in methods [Microsoft Account Settings > Security > More Security Options > Windows Hello and security keys > Manage your sign-in methods > Removed all devices (computer/YubiKey)]
3) Changed my outlook.com account passwords
4) A few days later, I re-added my computer and YubiKey as outlook.com FIDO2 sign-in methods [Microsoft Account Settings > Security > More Security Options > Windows Hello and security keys > Setup a security key]
5) It then started working OK and I could sign-in without errors. However, I don't know what the exact cause was.
A lot of people are complaining about recent Updates, so don't rule that out.
If you are using an antivirus other than Windows Security/Defender, uninstall it.
Hard drive isn't totally filled up, is it?
Stop using Chrome if that's your browser. Try the new Microsoft Edge instead. It will import all your Chrome settings if you want.
Those are just a few things to try out. Hopefully others here will be able to provide you with some tips as well.
That's a nice computer.
Just a few:
Others can probably give you better advice than this. And some may have contrasting views other than the above. But I thought I would get the party started, so to speak.
Good luck with your new Lenovo!
EDIT:
New Edge browser: https://www.microsoft.com/edge
Yes (fixed the typo now)
PS. This is quite useful for the new Chromium based Edge: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/chrometana-pro-redirect-c/lllggmgeiphnciplalhefnbpddbadfdi
There are two Edge's. The one that is built in, and the one that is coming/installable now:
https://www.microsoft.com/edge
It is faster and better security against tracking than Chrome.
>Is there some way I can do this properly?
No. Edge is a part of Windows and cannot be deleted. (Have you tried deleting Chrome from Android, or Safari from your iPhone?)
However, my suggestion is to install Edge Chromium from here: https://www.microsoft.com/edge. When installed it replaces the UWP version of Edge, and you may find the new version more to your liking.
It is EOL, and will eventually be replaced automatically by the new Edge.
You can get a head start by installing the release version proactively from https://www.microsoft.com/edge. When installed it migrates your old Edge settings, user profile, browser history, passwords, and favorites automatically.
I'm curious of if it will. They seem to want you to deploy the application yourself in the Enterprise environment. Here's what they say:

When you are ready to deploy the new Microsoft Edge, you can learn more about rolling out and managing Microsoft Edge across your organization from our enterprise documentation, and you can download our offline deployment packages and administrative policy templates for configuring Microsoft Edge on Windows and macOS at our enterprise page. Eligible Microsoft 365 customers can also take advantage of Fast Track and App Assure support, launching in Q1 of 2020.
