printfriendly.com. Need a permanent copy of a webpage? Use this site to edit out the parts you don't want and save it as a PDF. I use it for forest-destroying cooking blog posts where I only want the recipe.
Passe le a la moulinette printfriendly
que des graphes, aucune aggrafe
First of all, my man, i may vehemently disagree with you but i still can't let you go around being news-blocked by soft paywalls. Any news article you want to read you copy and paste into printfriendly.com and it lets you read it.
Second of all, the headline is
"Furious cyclists call for arrest, alleging teen driver menaced them before crash that injured 6"
The 6 bikers have lawyered up big time and are making a huge stink about this kid just getting off. But you know that because you can read it now!!!!
You're welcome! It's not mine, but I thought someone might find it handy. :)
Blogger's format isn't ideal for printing, but someone left a comment on the page, saying they turned it into a PDF, which is actually a pretty good idea. You can use http://www.printfriendly.com, and you'll get an easy to read version fit for printing for future reference. You can even click on pictures to remove them and save space.
If your work blocks a specific domain, try googling "make printer friendly" and try any of the top 3 or so links. Then paste in the article that's blocked and voila you have an ad-free version of the text + pictures of the article.
Here's the polygon article in printerfriendly format
Well, the simple answer would be to just 'Cntrl+P' the whole thing. But I saw that half of the page width is not printed upon. You can try to print in landscape, but it's still the same.
What you can do is, go tho this website.
It does what it says, i.e. 'Make any web page print friendly'
So you go to the page, enter the url, and click 'print preview'
You'll get the print preview which makes it a better printable document. No sidebar, content in the proper format etc. You can even remove things that you don't want from the page preview. You get link to print the page, or directly download the pdf.
Try that
I use printfriendly to get around news site paywalls.

this shits unacceptable. unethical real estate agents should not be able to keep their license
here is evidence for the board to consider:
For anyone wanting to print the recipe from the website, print friendly cleans it up.
Thanks for posting the recipe I've been looking for stuff like this!
Nice work! For future reference (e.g. other sites without print CSS) there's also a site/bookmarklet which I use called Print Friendly which does a similar thing. However, your script will retain custom styling which Print Friendly won't.
Bookmarklet for anyone interested: (create a new bookmark, set the following as the URL)
javascript:(function()%7Bvar%20save%20%3D%20%24('%23mainTop').detach()%3B%24('body').empty().append(save)%3B%24('.pagemove').remove()%3B%24('%23regularnews').remove()%3B%24('%23soundkana').remove()%3B%24('body').css('background-image'%2C%20'none')%3B%24('body').css('background-color'%2C%20'%23FFF')%7D)()

PrintFriendly bookmarklet! Works across browsers & platforms. (For iPad-based eMails, I use AirMail's PDF feature and save to gDrive. It's doable in the native Mail app but more convoluted. Use Print command. When doc shows on screen, place finger & thumb on it, spread your fingers, then the resulting larger view shows a PDF command.) Allowed me to kick EverNote to the curb, permanently. . While I'm here, FYI: ExportNote.com has a $15 app (Win/Mac) -- batch export to PDF and retains structure. Detailed walk-through: google >> ExportNote DocumentSnap EverNote
Just copy the URL and go to PrintFriendly.com. Paste it there and it will not only remove all the ads and crap from the article, but will allow you to save it as a pdf.
Well, I just went over to instapaper and that service requires you to sign up a free account. ViewText doesn't require you to create an account. Did you go to the ViewText website? I like what instapaper does, but it's not clear if it does the same thing that ViewText or PrintFriendly does.
Printfriendly. Lets you save webpages as PDF files, and edit them so you only get the content you want.
But don't use it to display websites your office firewall blocks. That would be wrong.
You mentioned having trouble viewing an article on your tablet. http://www.printfriendly.com is a great tool that allows you to paste a url into it and then it will strip out all the BS so you can just see the article. Also great for tablet use. Anyways, just wanted to share it with you.
Here's a nice speculating article which seemed to predict this to some extent: http://www.printfriendly.com/print/?source=homepage&url=http%3A%2F%2Fseekingalpha.com%2Farticle%2F3961536-amd-zens-release-will-taking-names-kicking-bandwidth-sooner-rather-later
EDIT: changed the link to a print since the god damn website forces you to register to keep reading.
Although you might not want to read TRP all the time, the sidebar is required reading. Download it here: TRP Sidebar All-in-one!

And, if you want to save a post (page) as PDF, use this excellent tool: http://www.printfriendly.com/
Thanks for that one! (unfortunately the .epub is not longer hosted).
What I do with really good posts: http://www.printfriendly.com/ - you can add it to your bookmarks-bar and then save the post as PDF. My digital bookshelf is growing....
I made this last night. It was good, but not amazing. It needed more flavour/spice. I'd probably make it again, but add more (spicy/flavourful) things to it.
I realize that in internet days, this post is ancient, but in case anyone is still interested, here's the JavaScript for a bookmarklet that will immediately open the page you're on at printfriendly.com:
javascript:(function() { open('http://www.printfriendly.com/print/?url=' + document.URL).focus(); })();
Just copy and paste the above code into the URL field for a bookmark and off you go!
Edit: corrected URL.
This is one source which has a lot of information instead of having to look at individual writings which would take forever.
Edit: Formatting
TIL. I don't have a smartphone so I didn't know that.
Try this one from PrintFriendly (long link), I'm not sure if that site works on mobile?
Well, your posts are HTML so you can just copy that from the built-in editor — the same you use to write your posts.
But for the future you might want to consider writing posts in Markdown and then converting that to HTML before you upload them into Wordpress. (Or use a plugin which accepts Markdown, that's best IMO.) This way you can keep a cleanly formatted post in your Dropbox or where ever ;)
EDIT: just saw that you want a PDF — here's a great tool for you: http://www.printfriendly.com/ It will strip away most of the clutter and just leave the actual article. Really an awesome tool!
Hot damn that background is awful!
FYI - This is a great site that I've used a million times since someone here posted it (can't remember who...). It takes any URL and makes it printable/email friendly/creates a PDF for you - which I find immeasurably useful when trying to snag patterns from blogs and whatnot. I tested it on this site and BAM - awesome, crisp, readable PDF without the headache :)
I think what you are looking for is http://www.printfriendly.com . It comes with a plugin and an add on for chrome/bookmarklet. It can help you convert any webpage into a PDF and strip out unnecessary information like ads, meta tags and what not to get a really good looking PDF with a link back to your site. I hope that is what you are looking for.
