What's the opinion on https://www.qwant.com search engine?
Side note: mega is no longer run by its creator. Currently it's in hands of Chinese corporation, allegedly quite suspicious. <strong>Tresorit</strong> is far better, although doesn't give much space for free.
As for dropbox...... Come on. :]
Go to https://tresorit.com/contact and select Abuse Handling Team.
If you haven't clicked on the email verification in the email, the attacker won't be able to do anything in your name. If you accidentally did, don't worry our team will investigate and block all such attempts.
Zero-knowledge as used by popular proprietary clients such as Spider Oak, tresorit, ... Client-side encryption if you prefer, where the remote party has no mean to decipher.
Pray. ;]
BTW, currently <strong>Tresorit</strong> seems like best (usability to security ratio) solution for cloudstorage space.
Just wondering. If you encrypt all of your files before uploading them anyhow, why would you need an E2E encrypted cloud?
The best out there when it come to usability and security id Tresorit. It's a little more expensive but especially the app and the fact that you can sync any folder without moving files around is really awesome.
There are plenty of cheaper alternatives, but the cheaper you go, the more you'll have to compromise on safety, security and privacy. If privacy is of utmost importance, I suggest you go for Tresorit.
Personally I avoid US based companies when it comes to storing my data - I'm not too keen on having the US government snooping around in my sensitive data.
Mike, Perhaps Tresorit might be what you're looking for in a delivery platform?
Edit: Don't bother, they're looking for $10+ per user, per month, but they are offering a free 14 day trial for 10+ users.
In the Premium plan you have access up to 10 previous versions of a file.
It is listed in the plan comparison page at https://tresorit.com/pricing#comparison in the line called "Version history".
tresorit.com sync.com or use boxcryptor with dropbox or ANY cloud provider as it does E2E then syncs it via dropbox. Same with Cryptomator. I just like tresorit because they have a program install like dropbox and I don't have to actually have ALL the content synced to my computer I can pick and choose what I need to download back down or up and create secure links for others to get a file. it's all E2E and out of Switzerland.
It's usually their main selling feature, and will be transparent about their encryption methods.
Another example is Tresorit, which is a little harder to use but has a loyal following because of how secure they are: https://tresorit.com/files/tresoritwhitepaper.pdf
Hacker Challenge To prove the security of Tresorit, we initiated a bounty of $50,000 and invited leading Universities and hackers to breach our service. No one has succeeded despite attempts by hundreds including MIT, Stanford, Caltech, and Harvard.
Don't forget Tresorit, End-to-end encrypted AES-256. You can send secure encrypted links. So far so good. I have it on my iPhone to send my photos to my PC with it.
https://tresorit.com/features 5gb free
Oh yea forgot to mention that. Btw here is the info about the basic plan https://tresorit.com/pricing/basic. If you finished the guide on the desktop app, they will give you an addition of 2gb storage, so 5gb in total.

Náluk dolgoztam fejlesztőként, egy szuper kis magyar startup (2011-ben alapítottak, idén nagyrészét megvette a svájci posta), 2 éve hagytam ott őket külföldre költözés miatt. Szerettem ott dolgozni. A csocsó, céges reggeli/hűtő stb dolgok csak hab a tortán.
> vrai et valable pour tous les systèmes cloud
Faux, sinon j'aurais pas pris la peine de le relever. Proton Drive et Tresorit ne peuvent pas accéder aux fichiers de leurs utilisateurs par exemple.
You should take a look at Tresorit. Top security, very good collaboration tools and user management and the apps are built very well. Not the cheapest but worth it in my opinion. I have the 2.5 TB subscription and love it.
Hi,
Thank you very much for your question.
In our individual offering the data is stored in high-security data centers in Ireland, in our Business Plus and Enterprise offerings you can choose between different data centers across the globe.
Here you can read further about the different options: https://tresorit.com/blog/tresorit-to-offer-global-data-residency-options-for-businesses/
Thank you very much for your cooperation, have a nice day.
:(
Nope ... only getting a "splash screen" saying "ProtonDrive is currently in early access and only available to invited users of ProtonMail. [image] ProtonDrive will be available to all users upon launch." and then a button saying "Back to your dashboard".
Maybe we who don't get invited to test ProtonDrive should consider testing https://tresorit.com instead ... and see what Proton folks does :-P
The tresorit clients contain no trackers. If you go to web.tresorit.com, you will find no trackers there, only on the main tresorit.com website. I don't know what they are for though, except for Google Analytics.
Hi,
Thanks for letting us know, we apologize for your experience.
Could you please check if the installer of our latest version is working fine for you from here: https://tresorit.com/download/windows
Thanks in advance.
Hi there,
simply follow the instructions on https://tresorit.com/download and you will have a user-level installation of Tresorit. It will also automatically update itself.
Further information about the Linux client for Tresorit can be found here: https://support.tresorit.com/hc/en-us/articles/216114157-Tresorit-for-Linux-FAQ
Are you speaking about what is on this page? https://tresorit.com/pricing
They seem to break it down pretty well.
Honestly everyone looks for something different when they search for cloud storage providers. For me, Tresorit was nice because they have good upload/download speeds, Tresorit as a company do not have access to see the contents of your files, you can't beat their interface, and its supported on all/most platforms including Linux among others.
They are on the pricier side, but I've been with them for a couple years now and had no complaints. I have had nothing but good things to say about their customer service as well. I've personally reported a couple bugs to them, and with one bug, had it fixed with an update the very next day.
They are based over in Switzerland as well so they are not bound by America's anti-privacy laws, with the Swiss having some of the most pro-privacy laws in the world.
Again it just matters what you are going for.
I use vpn and have lived in multiple countries with no problems. If you want to be safe, just coordinate so you dont log in simultaneously. If you want to be really safe, use the same VPN account login and login to flicker from the same server.
If you want to avoid flickr TOS violation, just have party 2 upload the photos to a place where party 1 (with the login) can download them locally and re-upload. One option could be tresorit: https://tresorit.com/pricing
As for the copyright issue, I understand it to be per account - so any pictures uploaded to the account, if they are marked all rights reserved, are copyrighted to the account holder. If you are worried about this, why not keep the photos private until they are all uploaded and you can manage them?
sorry, meant “their site”. https://tresorit.com
no, i understand, i can always disable js, use pi-hole or something. but i guess they could have avoid tracking their users. their own website if they so believe in privacy, i guess.
I hear you buddy. I opted for Mega because I wanted to use a service that protects my privacy, that is end to end encrypted and therefore cannot read my files. It's the reason I quit Dropbox, and am in the process of quitting Google, but now it seems I cannot trust Mega.
There are other E2EE cloud services such as Sync.com and Tresorit.
I just migrated my old personal from gmail with the same situation you described. What I used was Unroll.me to figure out some of the accounts that were attached to my account, and check the password manager. Then cleared the mass # of spam emails manually by typing in the name and selecting all the boxes, saving the important files to Tresorit.com storage. Yes it took forever but I don't think protons search function is as good as gmails, and didn't want to loose the important invoices, receipts etc in proton nor leave it in the completely unsecured pos gmail. I didn't want all that spam in my new inbox. Welcome 2 proton (:
I don't use anything as an online office suite at all.
I keep my docs local with LibreOffice. If i need a central place to host them to share them, I use something like Tresorit https://tresorit.com/ There's no collaborative editting or anything like that. It works more like Dropbox but end-to-end encrypted.
I use ProtonMail for mail. (encrypted at rest and end to end encrypted when mailing other ProtonMail users but not end to end encrypted mailing outside of ProtonMail). (I bought 2 years at a time when it was 33% off, for $80).
I use Etesync (open source, end to end encrypted too) for calendar and contacts with my android phone and desktop. (I think I paid like $24/year)
I use StandardNotes (open source, end to end encrypted) for Notes. (free)
I use Signal (open source, end to end encrypted) for messaging. (free)
Firefox for a browser on desktop and mobile.
Duckduckgo for search.
Hi,
Tresorit does encrypt filenames. You don't even have to pay for it, as this is available even in the Basic plan :)
Check here and here where it says "Encrypt every file and metadata...". We think that filename encryption is a very essential feature that should be the baseline for privacy not an addition.
I use the remarkable-tablet without syncing to the google-cloud due to sensitive-data-issues. I use ssh to manually backup the data to my NAS regularly.
I am looking forward to getting this done automatically - whether syncing to my NAS or even better to tresorit, my secure cloud. There are hacks out there to getting this done, however I haven´t had enough time and patience yet to modify: https://remarkablewiki.com/tips/rclone
Do you need to store those documents in a GDPR compliant way? Neither OneDrive nor iCloud stores those encrypted. You might want to consider an end-to-end encrypted cloud storage service, like Tresorit
I do beleive iCloud still doesn't support creating links for your files, so if those are the only 2 options then go with OneDrive, so you can still avoid sending documents as email attachments.
According to the Getting started page of the support portal first you create a subscription, then download the application (desktop or mobile app).
Did you download the desktop (or mobile) application after the subscription? If not, download it from https://tresorit.com/download, and register with the same email address. This is where you provide your password.
If you made your subscription with an incorrect email address (since you did not get any email), you should contact support.
Hello,
We're aware of issues when links are shared via Facebook or Messenger. May this be the case for you as well?
We're already working on fixing this one. Otherwise, please contact us via [email protected] or https://tresorit.com/contact with more details on your issue and our friendly Customer Service team will help you finding the solution.
You mean Tresorit, right ?
Jurisdiction :
> As a Swiss company, Tresorit is primarily subject to Swiss jurisdiction.
Servers :
>Tresorit stores user files and metadata in secure and compliant Azure data centers in the EU, Canada, US and the UK to help businesses satisfy regional law and regulations.
Encryption :
https://tresorit.com/security/encryption
2FA :
Yes, I have 2FA by TOTP enabled on my account.
Check also https://tresorit.com/ if you are looking for a drive solution. It's using end-to-end encryption and works absolutely perfectly. Cons: it's a bit more expensive and the speed is not absolutely thrilling. But Im using it to sync almost whole my home dir and using it across two laptops (linux) for more a year and never run into any issues.
>Tresorit doesn't offer free cloud storage though.
They do, but they don't shout about it from the rooftops, and they make sure it's rather hidden. It's called Tresorit Basic, and gives you 3 GB free.
It has a few other limitations, but if the space is enough for you, it's a fully operational plan.
I'm testing it currently.
Note: Tresorit still has an ongoing Tutanota promotion from 2018 for 50% off all plans. I think you could use the promo code, TUTANOTA2018, or just navigate to https://tresorit.com/tutanota-promotion.
Thank you. Ability and needs of user are indeed paramount when discussing such issues.
>I could throw 10 bucks at the problem and have a substantially better experience and peace of mind
Meaning 10 bucks a month, right ?...
Since you mentioned Tresorit, and although this does not fit OP's request, let me mention, once again, their well-hidden free plan (3 GB only : perfect for a password database, for instance). Others might be interested.
Which plan I'm on doesn't really matter as it's a personal choice based on what each person needs. Check out their plans and see which works for you. Don't forget to click the "Indiviuals" tab so you aren't choosing from the business options.
In theory, Google Drive is safe, as long as you have encrypted with VeraCrypt before uploading. Make sure the container name is bland, though. Google can read this. Of course, using Google, you're one mistake away from giving out your secrets permanently.
I would not use Mega. Too shady.
However, since your files are limited to 1 GB, you have better options than Google Drive.
Use a free account at an end-to-end encrypted provider. And since your files are super-sensitive, and you're already used to encrypting them before uploading, continue doing this. Either with VeraCrypt, or with Cryptomator (provided it works with such providers, which I don't have personal experience of).
So you'll have both an encrypted cloud provider with a culture of privacy, and your own level of encryption added to theirs. (But you could choose to rely on theirs only.)
Check Sync.com and the hidden free plan of Tresorit. If you're ready to pay, you have access to more encrypted providers, such as pCloud (their free plan has no encryption).
I also emailed Tresorit and asked them about third party audits on their zero knowledge claim. This is the email back I received
" We would like to let you know that there is an ISO 27001 certificate which proves the encryption, security and sharing standards Tresorit offers. More information about this can be found here: https://tresorit.com/blog/tresorit-receives-iso-27001-certification/
Thanks for your cooperation, we hope you like using Tresorit and wish you a great day!"

I thought ISO 27001 was a general security practices certificate and is not proof that they have zero knowledge encryption. Am I correct or does this prove they use zero knowledge?

Thanks
Is this certification completely useless? Tresorit receives ISO 27001 certification (I'm not too keen on these things, but the company that did the certification looks sketchy af to me)
They use Azure, FYI. They are Swiss based, but they use Azure in Ireland and the Netherlands. So your data isn't actually in Switzerland.
>Tresorit servers are located in highly secure, Microsoft Azure data centers in Ireland and the Netherlands. These data centers are constantly guarded to prevent unauthorized access and constructed to protect against environmental threats.
Basically, all the features on their security page are just what they are claiming as "pass-thru" from Azure. Even the "continuous patching."
If you want full-blown privacy and pay for it, https://tresorit.com. They’re based in Switzerland and fall under Swiss privacy laws. Peer to peer encryption etc. Been using them for NGO related stuff.
Have my own docker setup with Nextcloud on a NAS, but that takes some extra knowledge.
Have them all digitized in a safe online storage too (Like Tresorit) and skip the grabbing if your life is in danger: your life is more important than copies of documents you probably can get renewed on showing the digitize copies.
wow thanks! I've heard that Tresorit for cloud services and protonmail are great for good security, for normal people. I agree with you though that if you really want immaculate security and privacy, you should build your own servers lol.
If you care about potential leaks as well as loss then you should try an end to end encrypted cloud storage service with a no knowledge model, like spideroak, sugarsync, or my favorite, tresorit.
The last one has a great linux native client and allows you to turn existing directories on your system into synced ones. It'll automatically store a copy in the cloud any time a file is touched, and you can access it from applications on all major oses, phones, and even a web client. This means when you edit a document on one machine you can almost immediately open it up on the next with no issues.
I don't remember the pricing but for what you get, which is essentially foolproof security in today's age and over 200 gigs on the cheapest plan, it's well worth it.
yeah, i have. remember i am looking for a business level system - one that lets me manage users, permissions, etc. more than just sync a specific folder.
products like https://tresorit.com/ and https://www.sync.com/ seem to offer the features i am looking for - i just wish there was a product that was more transparently audited and/or had more source available for public review.
I used to be a big supporter of spideroak and have had an account for probably 7 years now, but I recently made the switch to tresorit as my main cloud/backup solution. They offer secure web access as well as mobile upload. https://tresorit.com/
If you wanted to try the next cloud option, disroot offers a free (donation based) tier of 4gb I believe. https://disroot.org/services/nextcloud
Check out https://tresorit.com not yet open source so I would encrypt before you upload if the files are sensitive. They have been audited though and publish security and privacy whitepapers on their site.

Ah yeah, that's why I live Arch. Wake up, read front page, get excited, scroll for Arch info.
BANG! It's there, ready and waiting.
I was gunna upload the new Tresorit secure cloud Linux beta to the AUR, but it can be run by a simple chmod and it becomes portable!
Saved me 25 minutes reading about PKGBUILD. Until next time..!!
Depending on your state of residence you could also try Tresorit. It's hosted off shore, which I understand is prohibited by some state bars, but it uses a nearly unbreakable encryption system. [Tresorit]https://tresorit.com/contest/hacking-challenge)
If you start on Tresorit get someone to refer you! https://tresorit.com/refer
(Not me. I signed up when the lifehacker promo was on and I have 50GB)
I use Tresorit, AES-255 client side encryption, same as Spideroak, but based in Europe. Clients for all major OSs and devices as well.
Referral link for anyone interested, gets both of us bonus storage space https://register.tresorit.com/download?mode=1&ref=NKyCEv
