I don't know if you have looked at walling, but maybe it is something you might like. And they would be putting out tables pretty soon with the option of sorting and some basic types (checkbox, date, text).
I completely hear all your viewpoints. I think the fact that Collanote is built by one person and is free (I would pay a one off fee for it if it further supported development) is a great achievement.
I use Collanote, Things3 and Obsidian in my work flow with the occasional Walling.app thrown in.
I used to subscribe to Notability but I just didn’t get on with it and not sure why.
Reading the answers to my post, I wanted to find a similar tool that you describe, but simpler. I saw a recommendation of such tools under someone's post
One of them, as I understand it, has not launched yet, but it looks interesting.
I will share with you the link, it may be useful to you.
https://walling.app/

Have you heard something about such tool?
I took a look at walling.app and it looks really cool but for me Obsidian matches the way my brain works better, I think my wife would love walling.app as it would fit with her more visually oriented way of working.
I am trying to set up my own server and want to get away from using online services as much as possible so if anyone knows of something more like walling.app that is open source and local or can be self hosted I would love to hear about it.
That is exactly why I have been using Evernote since 2007.
But, there are different tools for different needs. I love Evernote for notes. If I need to know the Pantone # of the logo from my consultancy created in 2013 - it is immediately findable in Evernote. But, if I want to collect notes on a specific topic that I have not tagged (who thought about that in 2007?) AND I want WYSIWYG, I am using Walling.app. The rest? Meh.
I found links in your comment that were not hyperlinked:
I did the honors for you.
