Also found Blurone which does the same thing and has a slightly more "modern" design language. Also to go have a backup if one of the 2 stops working in the future.
Hi! I did it with an app called Blurone. The effect is applied directly to the wallpaper,so if you have a scrolling background it won't look very good, in my case I have no problem because I use blur effect on the side screens without scrolling.

Use Blurone app
I grabbed the wallpaper from this Instagram post. Here is the cropped version. Since the resolution was low, I used Blurone to blur and dim the wallpaper. I used Flatcons white. Widget was made in Zooper Widget Pro. Super easy. I made 3 text objects, one for the date, day, and time. Weekday font is Future, and the other two are just Normal. The widget on-tap action opens my clock app. Let me know if you have any more questions!
