If you're curious to see the world from this perspective you can use this app:

There are apps that apply a filter over a video feed so you can check out various kind of colour blindness.
Really helps when colour coding things to make sure everyone can tell the difference.
The one I use at work is called Chromatic Vision Simulator. It's really useful if you need to worry about accessibility.
Here's a couple that I sometimes use
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=asada0.android.cvsimulator&hl=en_CA&gl=US
https://www.color-blindness.com/coblis-color-blindness-simulator/
They're not perfect, but do give "normal" people a bit of a sense of what's going on.
There's a neat Android app called Chromatic Vision Simulator that compares different types of colorblindness.
Also, scientist believe dogs are red-green colorblind and should prefer blue toys .
They exist, and you can use essentially a cyan-colored lens. I haven't been able to source one myself, but I haven't tried too hard.
Would an app meet your needs? This is my go to for sharing my dichromacy:

I occasionally hear the question and I give a brief explanation of what I see. I highly recommend "Chromatic Vision Simulator" [Android] [Apple] as it lets you select your specific color deficiency ("Protanope," "Deuteranope" and "Tritanope") as well as normal color vision. I use the app to demonstrate to people what I see versus what they see. I explain that although it's not an exact replication, it's somewhat close. It's very eye opening (pun intended) because they can get an idea of the differences and they can download the app on their phone if they want to explore more.
Disclaimer: I did not write and am not involved with "Chromatic Vision Simulator"... I just really like the app and it is free.
This is a screenshot from an app on the Google play store that allows you to view the different colourblindnesses with your camera or by uploading images.
The app via google play store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=asada0.android.cvsimulator And via apple store: https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/chromatic-vision-simulator/id389310222
I accidentally discovered my friend's fiance was colorblind right before their wedding, like 2 months before. I had an app that simulates different CVDs on what the camera sees.

Anyways I think I freaked her out. She said no one in her family was. I told her that he dad had to be too. So she called him while we were all at the bar. He tells her, "Nah Im not colorblind. I just sometimes mix up red and green or blue and purple." I told her that means he is colorblind. So both he and his daughter learned in the same night.
If they both went through their whole lives, including planning a wedding and picking out colors for shit for a year with her not colorblind fiance, I think everything will be alright. It was hilarious to hear that were arguing about colors a few weeks before that and now I had vindicated his claims.
They been married almost a year now tho
I use this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=asada0.android.cvsimulator
It can simulate degrees of colorblindness and display more than one kind at a time. And even make pictures or apply filters to photos. It helped me a lot at work and you can use your cellphone to see the world as a colorblind sees.
Link for those interested:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=asada0.android.cvsimulator
And if you have an Android phone, you can go into the accessibility menu and enable simulated colorblindness.
I assume it's just so developers can test how their app looks to people with different color perception.
If you guys/gals want experience what being colour blind is like, you can use this:
Android Play Store:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=asada0.android.cvsimulator&gl=US
Apple App Store:
Can't find a a link on the PC web, but I'm almost positive if you just search CVS simulator it'll show up.
It's eye-opening to say the least.
OP, phenomenal job.
There is a app called Chromatic Vision simulator (don't got the link for iOS sorry) where you can demonstrate all kinds of color blindness in realtime.
Now when someone hears about my red green color blindness I just get out my phone and give it to them. A few moments later they know what it is and will only ask "what is this color?" to fuck you up :D
Try the app and see which seems like your vision.

Ich habe die hier ausprobiert und noch eine andere App, die ich gerade im Store nicht mehr finden kann.
Wieder vernünftig gucken zu können ist auch mit ausgelutschten Farben schon viel wert. :'D
This is great. Chromatic Vision Simulator is also helpful. So when our well-meaning friends ask if we can differentiate between blue and yellow pieces, we can show them what we're seeing.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=asada0.android.cvsimulator&hl=en\_US&gl=US
I think deuteranopia is a bit inaccurate. Yellows dont look that white to me, and an app called CVsimulator show that yellows arent white either, but still look same to me.
Download this app to your phone, it has a protonope mode. Use it, use it with your Son, talk with him about it.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=asada0.android.cvsimulator
If you have an iPhone there's a link to the website in the Developer Contact section with the iPhone app store link.
It doesn't really effect them personally because it's all they've ever known, by the time you know they are colour blind they've already developed strategies for dealing with it (such as watching which crayon the other kids use)
it will help you immensely to understand what he sees, but be warned, I found it quite upsetting at first. My eldest has deuteronopia pretty severely.
The app used is here https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=asada0.android.cvsimulator
I use it whenever choosing colours for diagrams, or looking at reddit posts related to colour blindness. Remember these are just simulations.
I know I'm super late to the party, but there's an app I use to show people how my colorblindness affects my vision. It's called Chromatic Vision Simulator, and as far as I can tell it's an accurate representation of the three most common forms of colorblindness (I have a form of Red-Green colorblindness, I'm pretty sure it's the one that starts with P, so the accuracy of the other two modes is something I can't exactly speak to).
Here's a link to the Google Play store for that app.
Here's a link to the iOS App Store for it as well.
As someone else said, changing the colors might not make it any better for colorblind individuals, but at least with this app you'll have a better idea of how things look if you do want to try and find colors that work for everyone.
There's an app for android, and maybe iPhones, called chromatic vision simulator that using you phones camera shows in real time what your surroundings would look like with the various forms of color blindness.
you could just show them what you see instead of trying to describe it.
Do you have one of the colorblind apps? My roommate has this one so when people start asking questions he can hand them the phone and they can see what he sees.
Chromatic vision simulator.
Not sure about apple app store but here is a link for Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=asada0.android.cvsimulator

Looks a lot like the one I used to take this picture. It's the Chromatic Vision Simulator.
Ok, this is the led model, pretty cheap on that store: https://aliexpress.com/item/32572654282.html
Ah, and about the color blindness, I use this app to test my designs, it's pretty interesting: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=asada0.android.cvsimulator
P.S. And this page to test colors: https://www.colorhexa.com/ffbf00
CVSimulator is nice. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=asada0.android.cvsimulator
There's an app for Android, as well.
