Hey OP,
You might want to take a look at Cornerfly too. It is a little more polished imo.
Not really a huge fan of the effect when it is done via software. But I've not seen it on a physical display yet so I can't really comment on that.
Are any of you guys using any of the multiple round corner apps on the Play store? Some of them look kind of iffy, with ads and wierd fonts and such. Cornerfly is the most normal looking one but it doesn't work on some screens, Nova launcher for example. What do you guys recommend?
I'm all for them. not so sure I like how big some of them are getting....but I like them.
for anyone interested in "trying them out"
cornerfly does a decent job of mimicking them.
this substratum theme works even better if you are rooted/run 8.0
There's an app that does that with software on other phones, I like it on my first gen Pixel XL. It also helps that the new XL has a taller 18:9 screen, so the corners won't intrude into your media like the top bar on the iPhone X.
Not really a theme just wanted to share this app I stumbled across called Cornerfly that rounds the corners of your display. It's subtle but surprisingly looks really dope and gives your phone a whole new feel, especially if you got an amoled display. I'm not affiliated with the app at all just thought some of you would like to try it out. (Delta Icons, Nova Launcher)
The post was reported about on android police if anyone want's a read the original. https://www.androidpolice.com/2018/03/29/lg-wants-know-really-feel-displays-notches/
As for my opinion, as a programmer I can see where "The Notch" provides significant difficulties as certain parts of the screen (even if it is only a few pixels), are completely unusable/unseeable. And any "hardcore gamer" would agree, a few pixels is the difference between winning and losing.
Additionally from a hardware/marketing standpoint, because the screen, or rendering overlay depending on how you go about it, is non-standard, it's likely more costly to produce, meaning not only more cost to the user but a lower chance of actually selling (because of higher cost).
Speaking of rendering overlays, if users are bothered by square screens so much, there are literally dozens of apps that add a rendering overlay to make the corners round without requiring root, my personal fav is cornerfly because i can disable it for games/apps that need a square screen. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.flyperinc.cornerfly (this post has no affiliation with Android Police, google, or Cornerfly, and is purely based on my own experiences in the fields)
I didn't like them at first either. I tried Cornerfly app on my Axon 7 (with AMOLED screen) to see it in person, and I LOVE the looks. My next phone will probably have rounded corners.
Are you using Cornerfly for those rounded edges? I use it too, also it has a very cool that "infinity display" feeling. That font is so damn beautiful. I have Helvetica Neue btw.
I like the way it looks on the S8/G6, but I don't like that the corners of the screen are just gone when the same effect be achieved with software.
I don't know if I get or like the curved screen. I'm not talking about the edge, but the screen display itself looks like it has rounded corners ala Cornerfly.
I tried Cornerfly and it felt like the bezels become more visible to the eye, compared to sharp corners that provide more immersive experience.
You can try them out on your own phone: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.flyperinc.cornerfly
Here's the actual link to cornerfly
Cornerfly does literally the same thing and it's free. You're welcome.
Most probably it's Cornerfly
I've never seen Cornerfly show up in my battery stats.
There are apps for that, such as Cornerfly

Also:
Sorry about the lack of rice in the screenshot - I generally keep it pretty clean anyway - genuinely can't find the original source for that wallpaper either, otherwise I would share it (It's the background to a few Youtube videos according to Google).
After enjoying using Cornerfly / Roundr for my phone I began searching for a similar *nix solution, and couldn't find one, so wrote a script to do a similar thing. It still has a bit of work to be done to it (needs anti-aliasing) - currently you can modify the radius of each corner and which corners to display.
Hoping /r/unixporn can find some use for this.
It's available via pip (pip install xround) and the github repo is here (The code is really bad :X ). If someone has experience with Xlib (Using Python libs or C) and would like to help or have any suggestions please let me know, or submit a PR!
