Normal process is to unlock your bootloader (which triggers the device wipe), flash TWRP, and then use TWRP to install SuperSU. Its nice and clean and doesn't touch your /system partition. And, if you really, really screw up your phone and softbrick it, its fairly easy to reinstall a factory image and start fresh.
You could try using KingoRoot or KingRoot; they use a root exploit to obtain root. They're both vile apps and install shit you don't want which pester you constantly to 'optimize' (and will brick your phone if you try to delete them). You can then pay for and use Super-Sume to convert to SuperSU and get rid of the shit that King/Kingo installed. You won't be able to install Xposed, and SU will be on the /system partition, but you can use most other root apps.
The thing about method #2: if you screw up your phone at some point, which is likely when you're rooted and installing apps to customize your system, you're probably fucked. Fucked as in bricked phone with no way to fix it ('cause your bootloader is locked).
Dude, just suck it up and unlock your bootloader and setup your phone the way you like it again. Or, don't root. Doing it half-assed will just cause pain.
Good job. Should have ran SuperSUMe Pro first. I've rooted a Zone 3, ran SuperSU Me Pro, factory reset, no problem. Here's the link: Link
I wouldn't say "never." I've rooted with Kingroot before and then used another app (SuperSuMe) to replace it with a permanent root. Then I flashed it with a clean ROM altogether with root access retained.
I just would keep anything running on a system with Kingo or Kingroot, but that's not to say it doesn't have its purpose.
You can uninstall the app that you used to root but not the one that it installed to grant superuser access to other root apps.
It's generally recommended to replace KingRoot with SuperSU.

Kingroot uses its own root management system and won't let you use supersu with out jumping through hoop. This happened to me. I flashed a custom rom that had supersu builr in to fix. Or you can try this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=darkslide.com.supersumepro can't say if it works or not.
It will be a lot harder. You need the app supersu me to convert KingRoot to supersu and then do your root stuff and then full unroot. Hopefully you can get rid of all things root and pass safetynet. I haven't tried this yet
There's an app called supersume that is supposedly very good at changing over. I've never personally used it, so I can't offer any advice, warnings or info beyond that.

Either flash a new rom, or root using Kingroot again and then use this app to remove the traces of Kingroot and use SuperSU instead: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=darkslide.com.supersumepro&hl=en (It's a paid app), once you have SuperSU just remove root by using the in-app option and you will have no traces of root.
Perhaps try this: Root + TWRP Marshmallow D855 (30b)
I was able to temporarily root with KingRoot 3.9.2 (available in the KingRoot XDA thread). I then used SuperSU Me Pro to remove KingRoot and permanently root with SuperSU.
I received my LG Power in the mail and was able to root it with Kingroot (http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/one-click-root-tool-android-2-x-5-0-t3107461) and then changed it to SuperSU with SuperSU-me (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=darkslide.com.supersumepro&hl=en).
Weird. The link still works for me. Maybe it's because I already have it installed. It looks like the developer dropped support this free version and now offers a paid version.

To root my Kyocera Brigadier E6782 I had success with kingroot, and then used Super Sume to clear out kingroot and its shady apps.

More info about this app here
Not to worry, there are methods to remove KingRoot while preserving root. One method is-
"Super-Sume Pro" - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=darkslide.com.supersumepro
Make the investment with THIS, best money I've spent on Android.
Or this but you'll have to buy this when you're done.
Do some research, make sure everything goes right the first time and always make a backup
Cuz kinguser superuser manager is not the best... try Super SuMe to remove Kinguser and install Super Su
