Twitch.tv has a mobile app. Though not sure if you meant for AfreecaTV itself (edit: they seem to also have one but I've never tried it).
Seems like Uninstall and Re-installing Twitch Fixes this....
But it seems Twitch has Pulled the Newer Twitch Version from Google Play Store for NVIDIA Shield. ( Currently Available on Google Play Store v4.5.5 - 2016 )
So, if you want to fix this issue uninstall and re-install but you will lose the Newer UI and i couldn't find the newer Version APK anywhere....
Overall, the Google Play Store Reviews are filled with issues on how bad the New Version of Twitch is for Android TV.

Their official one, it works pretty well and I normally keep my video feed on to see if there are any problems/black screens/glitches.

What the guy who posted right before you meant was that yes, the Twitch app at the link https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=tv.twitch.android.app , CAN be downloaded straight onto the Nexus Player itself. Using the same Google account on a PC browser as you have signed into your Nexus Player, visit that link in a PC web browser (the PC Chrome browser for simplicity, preferably). Note when you click on the "Install" button from the PC browser, a dropdown box will appear with all your different devices which have that specific Google account signed in on them. Your Nexus Player should be listed in that dropdown menu somewhere. Just choose your Nexus Player from there and proceed through the next screen and after a second or two, check out the Play Store app on your NP and you should see the Twitch app installing. Bada-bing...It's like magic! Lol
Even though the player controls are HTML5 now, the underlying technique for the stream itself still uses flash player. If you want to watch streams on your Android Phone, you may use the app.
As far as Android apps go, the Twitch app is quite light on permissions.
Really, the only problematic one is "connect and disconnect from Wi-Fi"...
You can download twitch to your phone( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=tv.twitch.android.app ), but I'd recommend going the easy way: https://www.twitch.tv/
5th Annual Twitch Vancouver Meetup
Various twitch broadcasters and indie game developers in Vancouver are gathering on Saturday February 27th, 2016 @ Monstercat HQ (Google Maps) 5:00pm - 1:00am for an evening of music, food, networking, and game demos.
If you would like to attend, RSVP through the event's Meetup Page. There are three tiers to RSVPing
1) Don't RSVP (free) -- Your entry is granted once RSVPs have arrived and space permits.
2) Do RSVP (free) -- Guaranteed entry & One (1) raffle ticket. If you want to skip the line, purchase a t-shirt from the store
Why does it cost money? Attending a Twitch Vancouver meetup is free. Buying a shirt from the store or RSVP-ing through the Leveled-Up tier ensures that costs to host the event are covered. Twitch Vancouver is a non-profit group.
Who do I contact if I have any questions? The event organizer, Clara (twitter, twitch). There is also an open Discord server (NOTE: Discord is an event sponsor) with previous attendees (and myself) for you to join and connect with. If facebook is your avenue, you can also post your questions on the event's page.
WTF is twitch? tl;dr: You might of seen twitch in the App Store, Google Play, or through XBOX Live or PlayStation Network. It is a video game streaming service owned by Twitch Interactive (a subsidiary of Amazon--yes, the shopping website). People play games and broadcast their gameplay over the Internet for others to watch. Continue Reading...
I'm a newbie streamer, should I attend anyways? YES! Attending this event allows you to network with more established broadcasters/streamers. If you see them, don't hesitate to pick their brains. Some notable RSVPs: KittyPlaysGames, TheStaceyRoy, and the event organizer herself: SeriouslyClara. There might be one or two twitch staffers attending the event as well (they're wearing purple/white shirts with "Twitch Staff" on it).
Parking? From what I was told, awful. Parking around the host building is free and limited (FC/FS basis). It is recommended to plan your carpools ahead of time (or have some money for a cab). If Transit is your only option, it is a bit of a hike from Waterfront station (a nice one since you're cutting through Gastown).
What should I bring? Two forms of ID should you decide to drink, cash/credit (for food, drinks, coat check, raffle tickets), Smartphone with Discord app installed (iOS, Google Play), and wear your Twitch Vancouver shirt to skip the line (think of it as a Disneyland FastPass).
I can't make it to the event. Fret not as it will be live-streamed through the event's Twitch page. You can also follow the event through Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and chatting with event go-ers (and myself) through Discord (Download: Windows, Mac OS X, Web client).
Confirmed working for me. The link in the article doesn't take you to the Play Store app, this is the right link.
