With wear browser ($3) you can use open wifi networks that use captive portals. Those are networks that don't require a network password, but you must agree to TOS in a browser before using the connection.
The hitch is that there seems to be more than one method of confirming the agreement. In the process of my phone connecting to Chick-fil-a's network, the browser was automatically launched to the acceptance page, and nothing else could be done on the connection until I clicked accept. To use my watch on this network, I had to first connect with my phone. Then I could disconnect bluetooth, choose the network with my watch, and immediately launch wear browser to accept the TOS. I suspect/hope that any follow-up visits to chick-fil-a won't require the phone (until the inevitable time comes to need a factory reset of the watch).
McDonald's network didn't require the phone at all. I could simply choose the at&t network, then launch the browser to accept.
IMO the $3 for the browser is much preferable to this free method.
I am by no means a network expert, and your mileage may vary.
Wear Browser has an in-app purchase to purchase it so here is the outdated version(beta) where it was free, just dont update the app :P OUTDATED BUT FREE If you enjoy the app then of course support the dev by updating and purchasing in-app. It should support javascript but you might wanna test that
There are bunch of moralists right here (study, don't copy, don't cheat xdxd) but I don't care. I can tell you that yes, it's worth it if you also buy this browser for Android Wear on the Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appfour.wearbrowser It's very good and stable, it also has a keyboard, so you can write and search whatever you want.
There are other apps of the same developer that let you see photos, documents like PDF, DOCX, DOC etc...
So yes, for how you want to use it, it's worth if you have money to spend, because it's not that inexpensive.
you could try the web browser app and use the chat popout link like
https://www.twitch.tv/ausspeedrunmarathon/chat?popout=
just swap out the channel name
this is the best web browser on AW that I know of https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appfour.wearbrowser
If you've got the wifi symbol (no "!") then I think that may be a google server issue.
You could double check with wear browser. It cleverly uses direct internet access for web pages, and will tell you if you don't have a net connection. That would at least tell you you have a good connection to the wifi network.
I will get the "can't reach google" on wifi sometimes, too.
It's a bit kludgey, but you could use Wear Browser and set Favorites for the groups you follow. I've used Facebook on that browser a bit, and the mobile site works fine, although the initial sign-in is a pain on the tiny screen and keyboard.
>Oh man, I can connect my BT headphones directly to the watch, so freaking cool.
Yupppp. Play Music lets you have stuff downloaded so it's great to feel untethered for a bit if you're going jogging, but also in places with like wifi (like my gym), I can use Spotify to have a few million songs to choose from. It's nice.
Also if you're feeling especially nerdy..there's also a web browser for it XD https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appfour.wearbrowser&hl=en
..I played with it. It's not terrible, just hilarious to use on such a small display. Super impressed with the touch responsiveness compared to my Moto 360. Swiping to type works really well.
I used this one to watch a YouTube video in my garage on my watch when I needed a how-to on dismantling a wooden pallet some builders had left behind.
Was a little slow, but worked well enough since I didn't want to go back in for my phone.

The capability is already there, it's just not documented/endorsed by google. See wear browser
The arrival of LTE a.w. watch(es) might grow the stand-alone segment enough to encourage spotify/google/soundcloud etc to write a watch app, maybe. But yeah, google needs to make direct internet access official, too.
Not sure why you would prefer to type on a 1.4 inch screen vs speaking but not my issue, hehe. Have you tried a 3rd party browser like Wear Browser or Wear OS? There may be a couple of others. Hope that helps.
You can use this app:

It's a browser, but to be honest, the usability on this small screen is very limited and painful, but if you really want you can give it a try.
Fortunately there only seems to really be one browser for android watches, and it's apparently kinda trash. Not quite sure what it's inner workings are. Apple watches have a thing called Parrity which pre-renders websites on an iPhone and send the content over to the watch, so no difference in support there.
I literally had this exact problem today. Fixed it but there's a bit of legwork... AW 2.0 by default is set to immediately disconnect from Wifi networks that require a portal login, so we need to change that.
Setup your watch for adb debugging (in developer settings), and then run "adb shell settings put global captive_portal_mode 0" from a command prompt. This will set your watch to stay connected to Wifi networks that have a login. From there you can use an app like this to login like normal.
This was quite frustrating for me, so I hope this helps.
Well I don't know anything about tasker but this app allows you to have a browser on your wear device. You could technically open your webpage on the browser and set it as a book mark for easy access.
Hey friknskip you can do that on the lg urban 2 you just have to download. 2app from the Google play store they are wear message and wear browser
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appfour.wearbrowser Hope this help you better and they are like a $1 each
They already do: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appfour.wearbrowser&hl=en
Although I see no reason to do so, it's a solution looking for a problem. Just use your phone. When first buying a smart watch you think it's a really neat gadget and want to find different uses for it. The truth is though, for almost everything you can imaging doing with it your phone is better at it. The only reason to use the watch instead is either because you don't have your phone with you, which is rare and means no internet connectivity for instance, or you just want to quickly glance at a notification or something similar. I bought mine mainly to be able to leave my phone at home when I'm out running, which is why built in GPS was important for me.
This is the app you need to download onto you phone. I just played around with it for a little bit I can't say much about it.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appfour.wearbrowser You could try using an actual web browser like this one, it isn't particularly great, but it works.
Web Browser for Wear OS: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appfour.wearbrowser&hl=en
Web Browser for Android Wear Instwear Games: Jewel Destroyer - Android Wear Wear Rider - Android Wear Best Twitter app: Wear for Twitter
Wear Browser for Android Wear
Use i.reddit.com
~~Does your gym's wifi require clicking a TOS agreement on a web page (aka "captive portal")? If not, you're good.~~ Edit: latest Wear Browser update works independently on wifi, so it allows you to get access to captive portals. More info
Also, while the network passwords are supposed to be transferred from your phone to your watch, there seems to be a bug. I've never had this work, and had to enter them on the phone once for the watch to connect (even though the phone already has it saved).
You can User this browser instead, which works okayish. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appfour.wearbrowser
Web browser by Appfour in Playstore works ok... Installed it on my Galaxy watch 4 LTE https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appfour.wearbrowser
Here's the one I saw, shows as compatible with my GW4, reviews are terrible though.
Nice!
A few cool apps to get you started:
Nice to have in a pinch: Web Browser https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appfour.wearbrowser&hl=en (ALSO Youtube: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appfour.weartube&hl=en

Make custom watchfaces: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=slide.watchFrenzy&hl=en
You need Web browser? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appfour.wearbrowser
I am new to smartwatches as well & my TicWatch Pro comes with a messaging app preinstalled that works just fine. I assume it is made by Google as it appears to be the same as on Android phones.

I have not yet tried to browse the web but I am surprised that Chrome is not preinstalled, or any browser for that matter. There are a couple of browsers on the Play Store but I have not downloaded them as I do not think I would like surfing the world wide web on such a small screen.

Here are 2 but I do not think that support videos:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appfour.wearbrowser&hl=en_US

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.corproxy.browser&hl=en_US

Only found 1 app for watching videos on Wear OS & the reviews leave a lot to be desired:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appfour.weartube&hl=en_US

I downloaded the Outlook app for my work emails & it works fine.

Good luck!
I do not know if it would be confortable, but you may be able to MANAGE the cards from the browser version of the app.
Having the notifications from the phone INTO the phone notification feature and maybe handle the cards using a browser app in the watch. (for example, the browser in the Galaxy watch (https://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-s3/help/samsung-internet-official-app-gear-s3-t3784337) or the other products for wear: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appfour.wearbrowser&hl=es
Never used it, but this might be worth trying:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appfour.wearbrowser&hl=en
And then connect to the mobile web version of FB.
It does work, but keep in mind that, as the developer mentioned in the Play Store description, you'll also need to have this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appfour.wearbrowser
You can do web sign in with this app. It'll ask you to sign in. You just need to have this installed as well: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appfour.wearbrowser
web browser for Android wear
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appfour.wearbrowser
the other replyer is somewhat wrong,
there is an app for both,
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appfour.wearbrowser&hl=en
its limited but works
also https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.flayvr.flayvr&hl=en
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.jajaz.gallery&hl=en
im sure theres more
I see what you mean... there are not a whole lot of text fields on Android wear apps.
I checked minnum keyboard to see how it worked, and it looks like they are encouraging developers to create more apps with text fields. There are a few already available:
Web Browser for Android Wear (free)
Wear Messenger ($1.98 USD)
Would you be willing to try one of those out? FOR SCIENCE!
Have you tried side-loading the Firefox or Chrome APK? WearOS is basically Android so they might run just be a pain to use on a watch face. Those browsers might work because they don't use a WebView with WearOS doesn't support.
You can also try this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appfour.wearbrowser
