As someone already pointed out. The safest way to update the apps is registering via PlayStore. I will send you this alternative app. But be warned DO NOT try to update system apps using it. Yes, it can do it. I got tons of errors after I tried.

Will even update some of the less legal apps for watching TV/Movies but not all of them.
Also you may want to get a mini keyboard like this if you use the box for anything that requires typing: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01E3B81HU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Yes I am able to get it working with NordVPN. Maybe try some other VPN if pure only works 50/50 chance. You can try NordVPNs free trial to see if it works for you https://free.nordvpn.com/trial or any other VPN that has a free trial.
I will also second this.
Alternatively, you might want to take a look at this little gadge;
well it's more of a keyboard and trackpad but I can everything with it apart from turn the box off. I can even do swipe gestures using the left click and track pad.

this is what I use, the option for Wi-Fi sharing, it's limited at first but enough to move single files.
>boxes with RockChip and AMLogic SoCs have more going for them, they can be made to do almost everything an android phone can do. spend 15 to 20 bucks more and get an amlogic based box, the best out of the cheaper end of the market.
You mean the like "S908X" chip or some other?

Are there any specific ones on amazon that you can recommend? I could only find this one:
https://www.amazon.com/Android-Amlogic-S905X2-Player-Smart/dp/B09N3HSR77/ref=sr\_1\_1\_sspa?th=1
Also, what do you think about the new Amazon Fire Stick 4k Max? Amazon just offered me a $20 coupon (only works on items sold by Amazon llc) , so I could get get it for like $15.

That little used to be able to update the play store. I wouldn't recommend updating any other apps it suggests tho. I stopped using it when one of its suggested updates stopped my WhatsApp from working. Can't even guarantee it still allows you to update play store but it's worth a shout. Delete after updating. Hope it works
Depends on the TVBox you are using.
There's TrueConf for Android TV video conferencing app on Google Play, which works with NVIDIA SHIELD TV, Xiaomi Mi Box 4 or Xiaomi Mi Box S + webcams such as Logitech C920, C922, C930, or PTZ Pro 2: https://trueconf.com/support/system-requirements.html#smarttv
I've heard that Google Duo was also going to be available on Android TVs, but I'm not sure if it's already supported.
From what you're saying. It sounds like it 's your launcher that isn't working properly. You could try clearing the cache in settings. No guarantee that will work though. Alternative launchers are available to customize. Ugoos is one of the more popular ones. And it's FREE
CTV app ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ca.ctv.ctvgo&hl=en_CA&gl=US )
I can log into my account, but when I go to play any video it just says I can't because I'm rooted. The box came rooted I'm trying various things but its like google tries to patch the methods or something because no hide apps are working at all
Could a problem specific to your device. You have root right? Try ADB WiFi then use the app I mentioned earlier (Remote ADB). Run this line to enable Developer settings:
settings put global development_settings_enabled 1
With or without root, this guide from xda should work
As for adb, you really dont need a computer. All you have to do is enable USB Debugging from Developer options and use this app from the playstore. For the ip address and port, just enter "localhost" and "5555", respectively.
For thea force close app on exit, enable "Do not keep activities" from the bottom portion of Developer option. From the same area, set "Limit background processes" to "No background processes". Beware that this may affect the performance of some apps. If something feels buggy suddenly, try reverting the setting back.
I've had this issue with bad ethernet cords on different devices. You can get an ethernet cable testerfrom Amazon for under $10 save a lot of headaches
Be careful. There's a lot of counterfeit memory cards out there. Stick to major brands from reliable sources. Here's one I've used that's fast and still reasonably priced: https://smile.amazon.com/SanDisk-128GB-microSDXC-Memory-Adapter/dp/B073JYC4XM/ref=sr_1_26?crid=GA5NODC6VLZ5&dchild=1&keywords=128gb+micro+sd+card&qid=1605923728&refinements=p_n_feature_two_browse-bin%3A13203834011&rnid=65183010...
I'm using "Square home luncher" and I'm more than happy with it. It needs time to configure from begining but after that i think it's one of the best.

I use ATV Launcher in my MXQ-4K. Way better than the original launcher. There is a paid version too, but I never bothered to buy.
Or you can get an android tv device like nexus player ,shield, philips, sony and download my app its £0.99 and have legal streams playing on the live channels app look at the link and watch the video app
You can also use a wireless mouse, which you probably have lying around your house somewhere. Worst case scenario a USB wired one will work.
ExpressVPN works for me every single time.
Whether I'm streaming BBC, itv, Channel 4 or MY5, they all work in HD with ExpressVPN.
I can even stream Netflix from different countries without Netflix shutting me out.

Regarding 5.1, I never used any 5.1 software for the Android as I too am new to boxes. From my little experience I have an MX4 box (my first one), an M9S Pro box, and an KM8P box. The MX4 box has an SPDIF port but it's a 1/8" audio jack, an incorrect size for SPDIF cables. I learned that this actually homes a reset signal (by inserting a paper clip or thin object to reset it). However, some boxes DO have a proper fiber optic SPDIF port. I would like to assume this projects the proper 5.1 audio though. I did a search on the Google play store and found this link for a 5.1 player.
All boxes seemingly have WiFi, but not all have Bluetooth. I did research and purchased an M9S Pro media box which was not advertised as having Bluetooth, but when I received it and went into the settings, it did in fact have Bluetooth. I haven't tested it with my phone but was able to stream music from that to a Bluetooth audio receiver for my headphones. Bluetooth probably won't carry over any 5.1 audio though, so you'll have to route the SPDIF cable or similar against or through the wall.
Most boxes can be had for between $25 to $100, but I suggest a device with at least 2 GB of RAM and the correct SPDIF port. Most boxes are either 4- or 8-core as well. I picked up my 8-core KM8P for $42.
Eh... almost.
