Where in the world are you that this is legal?!! I'm betting local laws mandate proper locks.
Till then door bars are great. A family member had one and the would be breaking in guy broke his ankle trying to kick it in. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077X5HY7X/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_6FPVRFMVA5FE3WJS9DNZ
Stuff like this is perfect for that. It not only provides privacy, but it still lets light in and doesn't leave any nasty residue so it's great for renters.
In addition to the bar lock everyone is saying, I would also suggest getting this: HENDUN Wireless Door Alarm with Remote, Windows Open Alarms,Home Security Sensor, Pool Alarm for Kids Safety, Prevent Robbery (2 Pack) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078B7LBSG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_P87SX46FMD73AYMRDA4V
It’s an alarm that will go off and flash red when the door is opened. Got it for my apartment that didn’t have double locks and it worked great. I just left the remote to turn it on/off by my toothbrush so I remembered to turn it on when I went to bed every night and off in the morning. It will wake you up if someone does break in and might also scare the person off! Definitely helped me sleep easier.
I would suggest an under sink water filter. This can be easily replaced from each apartment you go to and super easy to install. Pays for itself after the 25th use.
Something like this is what came to mind. It's less see-through than your current fan, takes up a bit less real estate.
Unless you pull some fuckin voodoo magic out your ass you're not going to get total privacy unless you get an AC.
Here is an idea using artificial ivy. I don't know the quality, but it may be an option. Check with your association to make sure you can install it without breaking and rules/regs.
https://www.amazon.com/Best-Choice-Products-Artificial-Decoration/dp/B008QZSITG
I highly suggest a white noise machine. My apartment walls are so thin I can hear my neighbor sneeze when I’m in bed (we apparently have our beds against the same wall). A white noise machine is the only way I can sleep at night. I’ve also used it during the day after some kids developed the habit of running up and down the hall. This is the one I use. You can adjust the pitch and volume to get it just right to drown out the noise.
Replace the screws on the strike plate with 3" screws. Doing that makes it much more difficult to kick in a door.
I bought these for my exterior doors. They actually work well, but you have to be home to engage the flip lock, so when you're out it's not going to help secure your door.
I have this which holds a fair bit of force. If someone "accidentally" unlocks your door and tries to open it, there can be no mistaking. Make sure to test it though.
If you're willing to use headphones, get yourself something like this. That's just the top result from a google search for "digital optical cable to bluetooth adaptor". Idk how well that one in particular will work, but I'm sure you can find other models. I have a 2020 model vizio smart tv myself, so I'm reasonably sure your only hookups in the back are hdmi, usb, and the digital optical out. I know they make usb bluetooth adaptors, but without looking at my tv (and knowing your model), I couldn't tell you if a USB one would work. Check your settings for if you can set the audio to go through usb or hdmi to another device.
If you have other people watching too? Get yourself a really long cable for that soundbar and set it up on a coffee table in front of you. That's what my mom used to do back in the day with the center speaker of our 90's "surround sound" set up when us kids were in bed. She got to have the volume at a nice level for her hearing without waking us.
If the soundbar is truly wireless (except the power cord), then just mount it on the wall behind your couch. It's not optimal because your brain will want the sound to come from in front of you, but you'll get used to it. Or get rear speakers to mount behind the couch if your soundbar has the option.
That's all I got for you. There's no real way to fix it, but these are the things I would do if I was stuck with that setup.
I’ve got a couple of them hanging from a simple hook screwed into the ceiling. Just gotta make sure you find a stud/beam, and get one of those self-screwing hooks.
Like this. No drill needed.
100% this! I have fake ivy lining my balcony. It looks cute, it gives me privacy, and it keeps my dog safe. So worth it. Get double sided if it's available.
The one I have is an accordion style. It's sturdy and i zipptied it to the balcony.
I have this in the bathroom: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B086YF45G7?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
It does dull the light somewhat, but it's still plenty bright and gives exactly the privacy I was looking for. It was pretty easy to install, I just recommend ensuring you have a very sharp razor blade so that you can trim it down to fit perfectly.
Hardware stores usually have stand alone screens in a metal frame, about half a foot tall and adjustable width wise to fit all sorts of windows. I used them when I was living in an extremely old house that never had screens. The window pane just sits snugly on the top of the metal screen frame. I found a link to one on Amazon, it'll show you similar products too amazon adjustable screen
So I don’t think you can get rid of them but you can make them less noticeable with Laminate / Vinyl Putty. I haven’t tried this one but amazon has a whole set of colors.
It’s pretty simple just squeeze into scratch and then scrap off with a plastic putty knife. Plastic is important cuz a metal knife is just more scratches.
It’s not perfect, especially because if your scratches are like the picture and against grain but I hope it helps.
Got it here: TROND USB C Power Strip Surge Protector, 13AC Widely-Spaced Outlets Expansion with 4 USB Ports, 18W Quick Charge 3.0 & USB C Power Delivery, 4000 Joules, Flat Plug, 5ft Long Extension Cord, Wall Mount https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08HCTGLRJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_-p2aGbT0949E8?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
My kitchen window is on the first floor and faces right out into my apartment complex’s courtyard. I ended up getting something similar but instead of a frosted texture it refracts light into rainbows! The pictures make it look weird but you can see what it actually looks like in the reviews. I’m sure it’s not for everyone but I think it makes my kitchen look way cuter AND keeps people from being to see everything

I love Brita filters but I've had far too many break on me. I bought this one almost 4 years ago and it's still going strong, plus the filters last far longer than my Brita ones did. I just keep a pitcher of water in the fridge at all times and have ice cubes for when I might run out.
If it doesn’t have a deadbolt I would request a chain or using this: Home Security Door Lock with 8 Screws, Childproof Door Reinforcement Lock with 3" Stop Withstand 800 lbs for Inward Swinging Door,Upgrade Night Lock to Defend Your Home https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DR9CMGZ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_-aIkFb55H6RV7
I got the lock reinforcer above and insisted they allow me to add it to my unit door, because I live in a city and the locked door to my storage closet (right across the hall from me in a locked condo building) was picked and my bike was stolen. People can easily pick regular door locks—and I couldn’t even tell except my bike vanished.
We don't have honking, but incredibly loud neighbors! This noise machine has worked well for many years!
I have this peel-and-stick backsplash (which is currently unavailable, but recommending the manufacturer!) and I love it. It's been up for about 2 years, hasn't peeled anywhere and looks just absolutely stunning. The kinda-glass-tile look makes them seem high-end, I've been told. Hope you find something you like!
I got a memory foam mattress off of Amazon that I LOVED when I was living by myself. It shipped vacuum packed and came right to my door: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B007EHK4XA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_5ZJXSKGFZN4J0QZPS229?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
You're getting fresh air in through the window A/C. Make sure that filter is in good condition. You may also want to invest in a small air purifier. I have this one and have been very happy with it. I leave it on 24/7 on the medium speed. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01JKDAN2M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_iDNdFbZD2CYK2
Amazon sells a 3 pack of plastic “drain zipper”, this barbed style works better than anything I have ever tried. If that’s what you are calling a snake, and it didn’t work, you have to contact the landlord. If not, I suggest trying them before calling the landlord.
Vastar 3 Pack 19.6 Inch Drain Snake Hair Drain Clog Remover Cleaning Tool https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DP87IF8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_scufEbBXRYFQJ
Yeah curtains were my main idea but someone in a different post brought up a very valid point - since they're in the bathroom, the steam and etc from the shower could (and likely will) make them consistently wet and therefore I risk mildew and etc, plus all the clothes in my closet will get a similar, albeit less intense, treatment. Even with one of those humidity catcher bags I just don't think it's a good idea anymore.
Peel n stick is my current avenue to explore. I actually found this wall decal that I absolutely love!! It's wide enough to go over both doors & the trim. I think this + black hardware is the way to go. Every door of my apartment has the same flat door + shiny hardware, so I may change the hardware for every single door. Not the cheapest thing but since it's temporary & I can use them in the future I can justify the cost a bit more 😂
Thank you so much!!
Depending on what kind of blinds you have, nono brackets might work for curtains without having to install rods. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06ZZKB1XS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_T8Q84TM1ZZR7KX6KNYG4?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I just happened to get this last week and I think I prefer it over my smoke buddies (though they’re both mini)
They make sound quieting curtains you could hang in a doorway. Like this: https://www.amazon.com/Audimute-Sound-Absorption-Sheet-Soundproofing/dp/B07M8YP677/ref=mp_s_a_1_12?dchild=1&keywords=sound+proof+hanging+doorway&qid=1619296730&sr=8-12
There’s a portable washer thing that uses water from the sink. Like this one
As for this one, best advice I can give is build up. Instead of having everything close to the ground, get tall bookshelves, mount shelves on the wall. Use that space for storage and it’ll look less cluttered and leave more room for you
I hung a vegetable hanging basket from the WALL on a (large) command hook. I don't keep more than my onions in ther but I usually buy about 6 reasonably sized ones at a time and plop them in there, so I've had 6-9 onions hanging.
It's been hanging for a 2.5 years with no signs of falling, but I did make sure to get the highest poundage rating I could.
OR! You could get a monkey hook. Those things are AWESOME. Push in the "tail" of the wire and twist. The heavy duty ones can hold 10s of pounds (you can get a multi pack at walmart with varying weights) and when you remove them it's just a twist in the opposite direction and pull. PLUS they only leave a very tiny hole, a little bigger than the tip of a standard pen.
Eta: the monkey hooks hang from a wall cause the hook part would be a little shy of vertical of hung from a ceiling. But maybe there's a similar ceiling hook?
E2: typo, command hook has *no signs of falling, not "now"
If you really want to ball out you could consider getting one of those waterproof smart mirrors with android built in...
Glad I was able to help, I hate seeing people overpay for service when it doesn't actually solve the problem and simply moving their modem would fix it. When you do get a connection, make sure to use either Fast.com or speedtest.net on any devices you can to make sure everything is healthy.
Two ideas that have worked for me before -
I think this one:
Wsdcam Wireless Door Alarm with Remote 2 Pack, Battery Included, 105 dB Loud Pool Door Alarm, Wireless Door Open Alarms Sensor for Kids Safety Home Security https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DNBQG5P/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_PBARXZNPM75H68DJMGXR
If you search door alarm on Amazon a bunch of similar ones come up! Some connect to your phone so could be used when you aren’t home. Mine had a little remote so I didn’t set it when I left to go somewhere, only at night.
I moved into a ground level apartment in Manhattan with large windows - these "stick on blinds" have been a lifesaver as I wait for the custom blinds to be manufactured:
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0041HYB7Q/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
They let in lots of light and they're cheap. They look good too!
We had one of these for a while too and the kids' friends would sleep on it during sleepovers. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.amazon.com/Sleeper-Chair-Folding-Foam-Bed/dp/B01C26SRAY&ved=2ahUKEwje6OiAoOXuAhWUKM0KHdqFDtsQFjAAegQIEBAC&usg=AOvVaw1rsnSGhO7nFtny0MUYrc9q&cshid=1613163967152
I didn’t know if they did but apparently they do.

I don't have a pic but here's a link to what it essentially looks like on amazon, the linked rack is a 2 tier, but I have a 3 tier rack. I love it. I keep it right by the front door. Shoe Rack on Amazon
Yeah! Here is a link to the one that I bought. It’s two shelves and I set them up next to eachother so it’s like one really long shelf. Good luck in your new place!! 👍
Love-KANKEI Pot Rack Wall Mounted Set of 2 Pan Pot Organizer Wall Shelves with 16 Hooks for Kitchen Cookware Utensils Organization Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07L2XP76X/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_U-m-FbF68CVWW?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
It’s by Yamazaki. The magnet is pretty strong, it held a bottle of olive oil, salt/pepper and I think another small bottle
Same situation here. I bought a portable washing machine and I'm in love with it. Of course, it's just me so my laundry isn't excessive.
It hooks up to my kitchen sink faucet and drains into the sink.
The only con is that I can't use the kitchen sink when doing laundry. But that's not a deal breaker for me. I just make sure the dishes are washed and put away before doing laundry.
It easily fits a queen size set of sheets/pillowcases in one load. I've washed a few full/queen size cotton blankets in it too (one at a time).
I hang dry items now, but I'll be getting the portable dryer here shortly.
Something like this would be good to provide extra storage.
And just put a whole separate table by the kitchen to use like an island to chop vegetables and prep.
As long as your bed is raised and clear underneath you can use something like this to deflect the heat under your bed to warm the room. raised bed frame
TP-Link AV600 Powerline Ethernet Adapter - Plug&Play, Power Saving, Nano Powerline Adapter, Expand Home Network with Stable Connections (TL-PA4010 KIT) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AWRUICG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_-bzqFbEZGQ3D5
I bought this and connected a cable coming from the ISP’s router to this device then in the other room it goes a switch. I use it for PS4 and streaming with no issues.
If you can live without curtains, I would look into window film! It can give you the privacy you want without compromising the light.
Volcanics Window Privacy Film Static Window Clings Vinyl 3D Window Decals Window Stickers Rainbow Window Film for Glass Door Home Heat Control Anti UV 17.5 x 78.7 Inches https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SNQ5Z67/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_gBSmFbEFTAXNA
If you live somewhere that has cold winters and a drafty apartment then you can seal the windows with this stuff
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000AXXCUC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_a0zmFbNYSZ9EW It's fairly inexpensive and you're not blocking out any light
Adraft stripcan help, but you need to periodically wash it.
Also know that you can't quickly shut/open your door with this installed, it can/will roll and catch under the door. I have two cats and one day one of my got out while i was bringing in groceries. Went to quickly shut the door to keep my other cat in and case him. The draft strip rolled up and jammed the door.
Over all, its going to be really tough. It's not going to be possible to keep it entirely out if you Live in a complex where the communal halls are interior. Keep anything you dont want smelling of smoke as far away from the exterior door as possible.
I've found that things I keep in my bedroom closet are fine, but anything in my entryway closet and anything in my living room, which share walls with the public hallway stink and show damage that is inline with smoking damage.
I successfully had a fully enclosed catio for many years until my complex decided to remodel/paint all balconies and I had to tear it down. I had this netting around the lower part of my balcony where it had railings, and then a more lightweight net (like chicken wire but plastic and black) from the top of the railing to the ceiling (the floor of the upstairs balcony). Due to the width of my balcony I had to have a support post in the middle and I used a piece of bamboo. It’s a bit of work but definitely can be done.
I used these command picture hangers since they fit perfectly in the back nail slots and can hold a lot of weight:
Command Universal Frame Hangers
I have my bed raised with a bed skirt and it provides an enormous amount of storage beneath my bed.
Not sure if you’re still having this issue, but I bought this off Amazon and it has worked significantly. Killed all the flies that kept creepin in, love it.
If you have a smartphone, there are apps for it.

I think a daybed that works as your couch and bed would be a good idea. Something like this fold-out sleeper or this daybed. I like the latter because you could stack cushions (one on the back and one for the seat) and then spread them out on the floor if you need a bigger bed.
This worked wonders for me. You drill into the hardwood and secure it into the subfloor and then break off the screw. Cover it up with some matching wood putty and you can never tell the difference.
I'd be tempted to have both fans blowing in.
Also, does your front door have a security door? Mine does, and I tend to keep the front door wide open, the security door locked, and linen door curtains attached to the security door via magnetic curtain rods. The linen curtains allow air flow *and* privacy.
This is 100% what you need: Portable Door Lock
LED strips or twinkle lights behind a very sheer curtain against a wall could work well!
Here’s a good pack of twinkle lights I just found on Amazon, although I’d check the length of your wall if you want it floor to ceiling :)
I think the key here is to screen the parking lot view and focus on the sky. This will also give you more privacy.
1) Screen the balustrade with outdoor fabric. I’d go for something light rather than dark.
2) Mount a window box on the rail that faces out and mount it on the outside of the rail. Secure it very well in multiple places. Then plant small boxwood or, even easier, splurge on some fake ones. (I have some and they look great year-round. Buy them in person though, it’s hard to tell from online pictures.)
3) Paint the patio set a bright color: red, cyan, whatever you like, in a good outdoor paint and primer. (Looks like the decking needs a scrub-down, too.)
4) Plug-in or solar fun patio lights—so many to choose from!
Hope this helps, post updates!
These things are absolutely amazing. They work in drywall, they even work on cement walls. They leave such tiny little holes that you could repair the holes using a fingertip and a tiny little bit of joint compound. Better than tape, better than nails, better than drywall anchors!
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07F2CZD6M?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I used a portable washer and dryer for two years, and I still have them for backup incase my full size units need repairs at some point. (And they will with how they make ‘em nowadays)
Dryer: https://www.amazon.com/COSTWAY-Electric-Portable-Capacity-Stainless/dp/B083PRDBSB
I ordered directly through Costway instead of Amazon and it was a little cheaper and arrived faster.
For a washer I used an RCA portable washer that I purchased off fbmarket for $100, brand new.
Buying both new would cost about the same as buying 1 full size washer or dryer.
They're a little pricey, but maybe a portable ac unit and a sliding door insert? Someone gave me their ac unit (maybe you can get one cheap on fb market place?) and then I bought this insert: gulrear Sliding Door Air... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0836RPM1P?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I recently moved to a humid basement apartment. I have 3 small dehumidifiers - one for the bedroom, one for the living/kitchen area, and one for the bathroom. The one in the bedroom is also an air purifier and my allergies have been surprisingly good since moving in, so I feel it's working.
Rather than trying to move a larger unit around, I would just get get some smaller ones for the additional rooms.
I just saw a design like this table on Amazon last night and I immediately thought of it:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09MFCJD3Q/ref=sbl_dpx_furniture-kitchen-table-chair-sets_B08KFXMNBW_0
I love how it comes together when not in use and saves space.
I used one of these from entry way between my kitchen. It helps if I leave the exterior door to get a breeze, but stops the flies from getting the rest of the way inside and also helps for any fruit flies if they become a problem.
Highly recommend an "over blinds" rod setup like this if it works with your window (looks like it would). No effort, no drilling, very sturdy. You can either unclip the blinds and store the somewhere (super easy, only takes a few minutes) or just permanently have them pushed all the way to one side (they'd be basically always covered anyway.
I've also done the curtain clips like someone recommended here, but I wouldn't go that route unless you can't do a rod for some reason. It looks much less polished in my opinion, and its kind of a pain in the ass to hook on all those little things and get the curtains just right.
So I've been using this one for almost a year:
https://www.amazon.com/Giantex-Portable-Compact-Washing-Machine/dp/B01ALBMIEI
Pros: Cheap, the spin cycle is amazing Cons: Doesn't 100 percent fully dry clothes (you have to hang them), and you have to manually fill it up with water for both wash and rinse cycle.
I'd suggest looking up Youtube How-tos if you want to get a better idea of how people use it.
I still use coin-operated washers for big stuff: Towels, sheets, but I usually just put them all in one load every few weeks and consider paying for the tech.
So far I'm pretty such my portable washer has paid for itself, though.
Wow, glad you're leaving soon. If you're just trying to make it until then without all your stuff getting mildew, I would recommend these moisture absorption boxes. They work surprisingly well, and there's no risk of your AC catching on fire.
Without pictures of your actual balcony it's hard to say. Would a triangle shade sail work? https://www.amazon.com/ColourTree-Triangle-Canopy-Awning-Shelter/dp/B07WK8Y2PT/ref=mp_s_a_1_omk_4?crid=1TJ113GCRSCPX&keywords=triangle+shade+sail&qid=1654055070&sprefix=trian%2Caps%2C69&sr=8-4

I second this. We use it all the time. It will also help with fleas if that's an issue. You can literally rub it all over your dog's body (avoid the head) and you can even put some in his container of food to keep ants out. Put about a 1/4 teaspoon in a little pile in the back of each of your cabinets to keep pests out. The only time you'll ever have to change it out is if it gets wet. It becomes ineffective when wet or damp. Just make sure you get the food grade version. The other stuff is for swimming pools and such and is very harmful to animals and humans.

I personally have a cube bookshelf, to which I can add remove cubes. Like this https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B079RQV48L/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_8PXN63TJ4JQAJ9EW5PDQ
I have two of them stacked on top of each other and mostly ignore the backing.
Renter here too - I removed the boob light covers in our place and used these socket splitters that can be pointed in different directions and use LED bulbs in them and it’s made a world of a difference in improving the lighting.
Example: tento 4 Way Light Socket Splitter E26 Multi Light Bulbs Adapter Multiple Lightbulb E26 4 in 1 Adapter tento Edison E26/E27 Standard LED Bulbs Holder Converter Socket Rotatable https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07K1R15LB/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_63ECDRAY0N0FNPEDRGBH
It is a bit ugly having no cover and just an exposed thing like that but it’s still better than the boob light and I can just put the boob light cover back on when I move out.
Of course! I absolutely hear your need for privacy. I can’t tell you what a weight is that’s lifted. These rainbow crystal ones are from Amazon and I’d definitely get the largest roll that you can.

For some reason it wasn’t allowing me to add the link through the link tab?
I’ll try again. I hope this stuff works for you! I’m pleased with it.
Okay, I tried the link again and it isn’t working. How frustrating, haha!
If you search rainbow window privacy film, it’s the homein store on Amazon. I bought the largest roll, and am going to order another print for my sons room. Just haven’t found the right one yet.
It is definitely wild living on the bottom floor. I’ve had little kids come slam their snotty noses right up on my kitchen window while I’m cooking and everything. Last year when that happened I did get some window film in the RV section of Walmart. The print was awful, but it was the last roll and on sale. And that stuff is a lot thicker. I still highly recommend the rainbow one even though it’s not as thick. In the reviews of the Amazon one, some people said they bought this so their dog would stop barking at everyone who walked by- I thought that was genius for the dog and everyone else involved! I hope you can find it on there. So sorry I had issues with the link!
Door locks, I was a female living alone and I was scared. I would lock my bedroom door at night but I wish I would have had something like this

I think it would have saved my piece of mind. Also look try to save where you can, especially on furniture, splurge on things that matter and save on things that don’t.

I can vouch for this one. Low profile, 3 color temps and can adjust brightness, and has a remote.
Also when I searched it I saw a similar one but with colored lights that looked cool!
I’m a fan of this lamp because it lights up a large area and has usable shelves. I’m not sure how space saving it is but the shelves are my favorite part!
Move the bed out of line of sight of the front door. Flip your bed to the opposite wall and buy aroom divider screen to kind of separate the space a bit.
Make the space by the window your living room area. Maybe TV table caddy corner so can see TV from bed or sofa or kitchen. If you don't have a kitchen table, maybe get a smaller round or square one and couple chairs. And a coffee table for snacks on the couch. And a night stand by bed. Look for tables etc with good storage space, you'll want it. Couple lamps, bright curtain, funky rug and you're set!
I have a cabinet like that. I used several pan organisers (linked below) to make it less awkward.

I have a stack of rectangle items (cake pan, edge brownie pan, deviled egg container, cupcake pan, Detroit-style pizza pan, quarter sheet pans, et cetera). I have a stack of square items (8" x 8" cake pan, square casserole pan, et cetera). I have a stack of circular items (cake pans, pie plates, Bundt pans). I have one holding pot and pan lids. The first three stacks are vertical. The fourth grouping is horizontal. I also managed to fit my loaf pans in that cupboard.
You can try to look for a skinny mountable base like this one.
Get a ring camera! We have one of those camera door things to make it so that no one can steal it.
similar to this.. ours is metal unsure if this one is. On top of that we have ring cameras set up around the house and pay for the extra security feature that alerts the police if needed which the security system they make.
I got bed risers Bed Risers and hide a great deal of stuff under my bed. I use a bed skirt/dust ruffle to hide what is under there.
Embarrassingly, I haven't yet unpacked it (have been overwhelmed with other things). So I can't speak to its quality. BUT i did a ton of research before purchasing, and got this one:
you can also research these types of dishwashers in general by using search words like "countertop dishwasher with built in water tank."
I would probably use an over the door hanger that doesn’t go inside your laundry room so you don’t have to worry about it. My husband and I live in a studio. We have a queen sized trifold mattress that we fold up and put in a corner every day when we wake up. When it's time to sleep, we lat it on top of two folding tatami mats for a little bit more cushion (we have concrete floors).

curtains - they either stop the heat from escaping or keep the wind from blowing in. And in the summer it can help keep the sun out to keep it cool.
I got a door draft stopper for my bedroom. It's cloth so it doesn't scrape the floor like the plastic one the landlords put on my front door. And it helps keep any heat in my room from leaking out to the rest of the house (plus it stops any burnt, stinky veggie, etc kitchen smells from spreading to my room. Also helped keep water out of my room after a pipe issue in the bathroom after which I got a new one).
I found that I could heat up the front of my place using a combo of a heater & the oven, but my bedroom (where I'm currently working from home thanks to the pandemic) is very hard to heat up. It also doesn't get any direct sun so opening the curtains does more harm than good as far as temperature control. I have a space heater but thanks to older wiring in my apartment I can only turn it on high in the bathroom. In the bedroom the heater can only go on low before blowing a fuse (don't ask) so it's basically a fan & not a heater. I think I get more heat by leaving my cable box & computer running over that thing. The curtains help a lot (if I ever peek out the window I immediately feel the cold) and the draft stopper does a LOT. Whenever I can get my room warm that thing keeps it that way!
I cant recommend anything from personal experience; I use a filter system for my aquariums. I use the Britta myself. How about one like this? Seems a bit pricey though. Almost twice the cost of a under sink tank system. Honestly Id stick with the Britta while your in college if you cant get one installed. Taking them out is not too much harder than putting one in, its not really irreversible.

I have the same exact issue in my apartment.
Yesterday, I put up "duck brand insulating window shrink wrap".
It's basically a piece of plastic that you stick over the window, and then run it over with a blow drier.
It lets in all light, and so far it's been a perfect solution.
The draft has stopped completely.

Use an adapter like this in your lights above the mirror and use that socket to plug in a waterproof light strip like this and use the double sided tape to run it along the wall or ceiling. If you’re worried about doing damage, use command strips that don’t damage to mount the light strip.
Perk with this is it’ll turn on/off with your other light switch and won’t need batteries/recharging.
They make battery operated lights that are waterproof like this one. That along with some waterproof command strips should help!
