Swaddling can help some dogs with anxiety. There are products out there, namely the Thundershirt, that capitalizes on this idea.
Is it this brand? If so, 400 kcal is per kg. Per pouch is 16 kcal. It is essentially impossible that your cat is consuming 1500 kcal/day.

I use live traps and then take them for a walk to the park. Make sure that you wear gloves when handling the trap. Peanut butter is a good bait, and I have had a lot of success with these: https://www.amazon.com/Humane-Mouse-Trap-Plastic-Children/dp/B07L8JNPF2/ref=asc_df_B07L8JNPF2/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=242009199808&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=12367366403314543503&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&...
Check the traps daily, morning is usually a good time since mice are nocturnal.
If you live in a place that gets really cold I think it is more humane to use snap traps once the temperature outdoors gets below freezing.
And if you can still hear them, get a white noise machine to keep in your room, near the door.
I'm a REALLY light sleeper. Naturally I own one cat who wanders the halls at night, wailing (for no reason at all), and one who runs around like an idiot all night (at 13 years old!!).
Drowning them out is your best defense. The white noise machine is a good start (I like this one). Add ear plugs if necessary.
Is it at all possible to purchase a portable heater and stay at home with your cat until everything gets sorted? I know we had some portable, pluggable, heaters that worked wonders in the house I stayed before my apartment. We had zero insulation in this old house and a shitty built in radiator system so those portable heaters were a godsend.
Check Amazon! You might find a deal around this time of year.
Edit: This is the type of heater we had, it really did warm up a decently sized room and I think it'd help ya'll out for a short period and then you'd have something just in case things get messed up again.
Beside a behaviorist visit something in the mean time you can try a Feliway plug in diffuser in your bathroom. When it empty’s don’t forget to unplug it or if it works refill it, as this is how all these types of diffusers can get hot and catch on fire 🔥
My cat did this exact thing and I was forced to buy an auto feeder.
Cutting back nails is generally painful and not effective. Look into cooperative care and desensitization to nail trims. Your vet may want to discuss medication and/or referral to a behaviorist for more guidance.
Use a wheat pack heat pad, just heat in microwave.
You can also get resettable heat packs with a metal disc in them you click then boil them to reset. Here is a sample of the resettable ones.
Yes, Nexgard works in a way that the ticks have to bite -- it's not a tick repellant, but it does kill them after the bite. Usually, they just fall off on their own after they die, but you can remove the tick yourself, just make sure you grab it by the head, not the abdomen when you're pulling it out. Like this.
I don’t know where you live but you said that you want to take care of the surviving kitten ... do you plan on keeping it after it grows into an adult cat? KMR isn’t terribly expensive where I live, a two-pack of nursing bottles costs like $6 and the KMR either comes in powder form you mix with water for like $20 for a 12 oz tub or already in liquid form for $6 per 8 oz can. It is even cheaper to buy on Amazon in either powder or liquid form. If you can’t afford the KMR to feed it properly I don’t think you have any business trying to care for and raise a kitten to begin with. As it grows it is going to need food, litter, and vaccinations all of which are significantly more expensive. Also kittens this young need to be kept warm at all times (a cardboard box with blankets and a heating pad on low setting covered in a towel work well — make sure the box itself is larger than the heating pad so there is ample space for the kitten to move to the other side if it becomes too warm) and especially so when being fed because kittens bodies cannot digest food properly if they are too cold and could easily die.
Thanks! Things to try... Larger litter boxes. Cats like spacious restrooms. Personally, I use Rubbermaid tubs. Some cats prefer covered boxes but in general, most cats seem to prefer open boxes like you have. Also, it's not clear, but if your litter boxes are close together they don't really count as two separate boxes. They need to at least be on opposite sides of the room.
People really like to put their boxes in basements, but some cats don't like to go up and down the stairs every time they want to use the litter box. You can buy a walk-through baby gate with a cat door on Amazon (https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B000JJDI0G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_.jssFbT46KND7) so that you don't have to cut a hole in your door. Try moving one upstairs.
In regards to cat litter, studies show that most cats prefer unscented, clumping litter. That said, some cats like non-clumping litter, some prefer sand-like litter, and others like the wood pellets litter. Try putting a different kind in each of your boxes and see if your cat has a preference between types.
You could try placing her near the other cats when they are grooming in the hope that she will pick up the behaviour from then. It sounds like this is an ingrained behaviour though so it may be difficult to change.
Instead of changing her behaviour you could incorporate grooming into your routine with her. She may realize that she likes to be clean and start grooming on her own. At the very least, this will improve her cleanliness in a minimally invasive way (bathing can be stressful for cats - and people lol).
You can get rubber grooming brushes/gloves that you could use instead of actually bathing her (https://www.amazon.ca/Grooming-Massage-Remover-Deshedding-Bathing/dp/B07CGSDR8F/ref=asc_df_B07CGSDR8F/?tag=googlemobshop-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=292880264557&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=2664798426520135112&hvpone=&hvptwo=&...) or you could try grooming wipes (https://www.amazon.ca/Espree-Animal-Products-Silky-Wipes/dp/B00XWQRMCI/ref=asc_df_B00XWQRMCI/?tag=googlemobshop-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=292903324699&hvpos=1o7&hvnetw=g&hvrand=11626155034449592303&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqm...). If you make the grooming time a positive experience (give praise and treats) she may come to really enjoy it and may start to groom more on her own.
Good luck!!
I'm a vet in Ontario.. Cutaneous Leishmaniasis is a good call but I don't know of any cases within NA.. it's never even crossed my mind. And the only things that I can think of which causes skin issues like that in a dog are auto-immune disorders and a far stretch would be hypothyroidism or cushings. None of which are communicable (contagious) at all. There are basic worms which will migrate through skin in humans which will transfer easily from dogs.. maybe you have them but are also allergic to them? What's the deworming history? Sarcoptic mange is also a possibility and contagious.
A scarier thought is that this also sounds a lot like morgellons disease which is as far as I know NOT a canine condition but is human only and very very very poorly understood and I should warn that there are still a lot of doctors whom think it's a mental disorder… Maybe you should look into it http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morgellons https://medium.com/matter-archive/the-itch-nobody-can-scratch-4d980e3ac519
I think you should drop your dog off at a referral center and then head to the ER and wait until you can see an IM specialist too. Sorry I can't help more.
Here is the report. I edited out identifying info, but will answer any question you're curios about if you do read it: https://www.docdroid.net/XEDmCPY/histopathology-report.pdf
They sell cloth play pens online, I use them for kitten fostering. I would make sure it’s a small one though, they run a little big for your purposes.
A harness like this helped my old girl a lot. She wasn't afraid to poop outside anymore so she stopped holding it and having so many accidents. You can help her stay up when she poops, go up the stairs, and it's easier to pluck her back up when she falls. We used washable diapers inside just in case too.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GGDJOE2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_KES1483TS83P7R1HPPV8
For the record this is not the one I actually have but it's the same style. Something with a butt handle and a leash clip.
With the incision where it is there is significant risk of the kittens causing infection or rupturing sutures. Thankfully the kittens are old enough to start weaning. It may be less stressful for both parties if they are completely separated and cannot physically see eachother. If this is not possible at all you could have a look into putting the mother in a babygrow/bodysuit so that the incision site is protected. This would depend on how well the mother tolerates it. I would keep an eye on them for the first few hours to make sure they are not able to access the site in any way. With the babygrow on they will not be able to nurse but will still be able to stay with the mother.
Have you ever used a cat food tower like this? Apparently food towers/mazes give them control over how fast they eat their food, and since they have to work for it, it provides some enrichment and satisfaction for prey drive. Look into it if you haven't yet! I'd recommend reading the reviews for people's stories with their cats. (edit: avoiding anecdotes)
Just buying a new bag isn't the worst thing that could have happened since you will have to taper your cat off the old food and onto the new food slowly to avoid GI problems. I also just recently switched my food from blue after learning about it in my vet tech classes. I switched to Hills science diet indoor formula for ages 1- 6(not the one required with a prescription) there is a lot of BS floating on the internet about pet foods and its easy to get confused on which ones are actually good for your pet. If you decide to go this route amazon is the cheapest seller by far.
Most traditional mouse traps will cause suffering and death. If you want to look for alternatives, here's a humane mouse trap that lets you catch mice and release them somewhere else. There's also non-poisonous mouse repellent, which you can google or search for on Amazon.
I have three carriers and weighed each one on my package scale
No-name plastic carrier (med) : 3lb 12oz
Pet taxi (med) 3lb 8oz
Amazon basics soft side (large) 2lb 13oz
if you remove the board (11oz) and shoulder strap (3.2oz) you can get the weight to just under 2lbs and if you cut the d-rings and leash attachment off you could save a couple of more ounces
Edit: added links
Ask your vet about supplements. You can find them on amazon for pretty cheap.
The alternative to using a daily sedative would be behavior modification to improve compliance with medicating. This book is a good starting point and I would recommend working with a trainer experienced in desensitization and counterconditioning. https://www.amazon.com/Cooperative-Care-Seven-Stress-Free-Husbandry/dp/0578423138
We have this one. I think there are a few different styles, some are circular like ours, where the water flows out of the middle others have a spout like the one suggested above. I hadn't really seen a design like the one you had before but it looks potentially kind of awkward/shallow for the cat to get its face in/under? (totally non-expert guess!) Maybe try one of the ones with a spout and water flowing down, since that is most close to the design of a sink tap with water flowing down, which you already know she likes? We just went with the circular one because that is the kind our dog tested out and approved at our friend's place! Or you could ask the pervious owner what kind they had. I think the spout kind seems to be the most common, it's the kind they have assembled and filled up on the floors of all the pet shops we've been to, so the doggy customers can have a drink.
You need to get one of these . They're the best cat toy ever and very few cats can resist them. Also try feeding him in a puzzle toy, and think about getting him some climbing space (like cat furniture). I have a very active cat as well, and he's pretty much unbearable unless he gets his playtime and runs laps around the apartment. Putting a birdfeeder in front of the window can also be endless entertainment for cats.
When you introduced them, how did you do it? Just throwing two cats together is a Very Bad Idea of a high magnitude. It works for some, don't get me wrong, but the majority of them won't deal with it well. Slow introductions are really important. Here's a book I often recommend: http://www.amazon.com/Cat-Vs-Keeping-Peace-When/dp/0142004758 and I'm sure there are good internet resources about cat introduction as well.
Also, if the mother was truly feral and if they didn't take the kittens off of her between 2-7 weeks of age, they may have learned feral behaviors and be more difficult to deal with overall.
Hill's makes some veterinary diet treats that are compatible with the prescription urinary diets. There is also a wet food version of the SO diet you could consider as a meal topper if your pup is picky.
Try a slow feeder mat like THIS
Alternatively, you could try to offer more frequent meals of less quantity. So if you feed her 1 cup 3 times a day, try feeding 1/2 cup 6 times a day - example: 1/2 cup when you wake up, 1/2 cup when you leave for work, 1/2 cup for lunch, 1/2 cup when you get home, 1/2 cup 2 hours later, 1/2 cup before bed.
If that’s too much work, get an automatic feeder like THIS
Good luck!
Sorry in advance if this is a dumb question, but by sling do you mean something like this?
https://www.amazon.com/LOOBANI-Portable-Cruciate-Ligament-Rehabilitation/dp/B07L3VLH5S?th=1
We weren't sure if a splint might be helpful also to help stabilize the wrist.
Get your kitty a water fountain. there’s lots to choose from!
I am not a vet. You should still consult with your vet. Just trying to help you get your kitty to drink more :)
This looks more like it. Meat based, no by-products, low phosphorus. But I have read bad things about Blue and the one time I fed my cat Blue many years ago he got very sick.
did a in person appointment and they didn't find any abscess, we all kind of just concluded it to be teething pains. she still does it ever so often but not as frequent. the vet told us to try some numbing gel (https://www.amazon.com/Mark-Chappell-Teething-Puppies-1-75-Fluid/dp/B001F60AYO) but i know our pup doesn't do well with peppermint oil (from our Wondercide Flea Tick Spray) so i will keep looking for another similar item
Is she on any kind of flea prevention? Those sound like they could maybe be flea bites, it's the worst time of the year for fleas right now. I recommend Advantage 2 for puppies or similar.
It could also be a yeast infection of the skin, which can be very itchy and scabby.
In either case- for the itching I recommend Vetericyn Plus antimicrobial hydrogel spray. It's cheap ($<20) and you can usually find it at Petco. It does wonders to top itching and clear up redness in the short term. https://www.chewy.com/vetericyn-plus-antimicrobial-hydrogel/dp/137539 I've actually seen this clear up yeast infections on its own, and if you absolutely cannot be seen by a vet it may be your next best option to try.
For anyone reading this, PLEASE! PLEASE!!! use seatbelts with your dogs. I like this one as it is versible.
If the bowls you're using are plastic, try switching to glass or stainless steel, which are not porous and won't absorb grease from the food.
My DMs will also send these wipes home to be used once or twice a day during breakouts:
Yes! There are actually prescription cat treats, like these:
https://www.royalcanin.com/us/cats/products/vet-products/urinary-feline-treats
You're being a good owner by sticking so strictly to the diet. ❤ That's exactly what he needs to minimize his chances of FLUTD flares.

For appetite try below options -
-> Fortiflora probiotic https://smile.amazon.com/Purina-Veterinary-Fortiflora-Nutritional-Supplement/dp/B001650OE0/
-> Baby food - Any brand with puree meat
-> Churu or any lickable treat
-> Salmon, turkey or chicken cuts
Look here. U$20 or free, if you can DIY. A glue trap is a horrible, horrible, horrible thing. You might not be ending its life, but the pain and terror are likely just as bad as with poison or kill traps, but without the peace of death.
This won’t heel anything but it’ll help discourage licking or biting in the spot so it can maybe calm down on it’s own
Depends on the size, but what you want is to search for "reusable syringe" on amazon. You will still find quite a few results that are single use but you are looking for something like: https://www.amazon.com/BSTEAN-100ml-Syringe-Needles-Storage/dp/B073Z92WHY
Note - the link I provided is for one that is a large volume and you need smaller so do not order the one I linked to.
Red/inflamed areas of skin on a dog that can turn into lesions. My dog has been battling hot spots on his groin for the last year. After costly treatments prescribed by my vet I tried this topical cream...within two days we saw the irritation become less pronounced, by two weeks the flare up was completely gone!!
You can get it via amazon for about $10...highly recommend! Sulfodene Wound Care Ointment,... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001FK4BLI?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
The safest thing to do would be to get prescription treats formulated to be safe for dogs on prescription urinary diets. Here is one for example: https://www.chewy.com/hills-prescription-diet-original/dp/155000
The Cooperative Care book is a good resource. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B086HTLCR9/ref=dp-kindle-redirect?_encoding=UTF8&btkr=1
Ask your vet about pre-visit medication. Acepromazine is not appropriate as a single agent drug for this situation.
Maybe a t shirt or adult onesie? It’s hard with his size as I usually recommend child/toddler clothes. Maybe something like this
I have a cat that was determined to only scratch carpet. Won't touch cardboard or sisal. Finally got him this and sprinkled some silvervine powder on it. He loves it and leaves my carpet alone now. Ignore the listing itself that says you can lean it against stuff, that doesn't work very well. I just leave it on the ground.
My vet charged my almost $300 for medication ($120) and testing x2. This was much cheaper Elanco Tapeworm Dewormer (praziquantel tablets) for Cats, 3-Count Praziquantel Tablets for Cats and Kittens 6 Weeks and Older https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019CD4ZDS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_KV0GMN8NS55GSNEXRCQM?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
My understanding that you don’t have enough money for a vet, - here is how I used to help our farm kittens and puppies: tansy herb with milk. Boil a glass of milk with juuuust a little of it (really just a pinch) and let it cool down. If you try it it’s tastes bitter, should not be too bitter though, the herb is quite strong. Then forcibly feed your kitten a few times with it. In a day or two the worms will come out, looking at the size of a tummy they must be quite big by now.
But honestly your kitten’s life worth money you spend on a vet. Every life is precious and at the end you will cry not about the money but about your kitten that you couldn’t /wouldn’t safe..
I appreciate all of your feedback so much, thank you so much. I spoke to my vet who suggested I give my cat a week or so to adjust to the renal diet and also add a supplement called Porous One to his meals. I also ordered a powder probiotic to begin adding to my cats meals although the vet said it's not necessary.
I will discuss our options for an ultrasound and blood pressure check at his follow up appointment in April. Is there any other advice you have for me right now? Thank you again for your help!
She is currently taking Sentinel and Nexgard once a month.
Last time she was prescribed a dewormer pill, it was a single pill to be given all at once. It did not seem to help, but the longer OTC course did. From reading the packages, the active ingredient and dosage from the single prescribed pill and one of the pack of six of the OTC were similar. The OTC package has unclear instructions—it just says how many pills to give based on weight, but not how many total or for how long. The package comes with 6 pills total.

First- don’t tie it as tightly as you can- you could harm her neck, larynx, or she could easily choak herself to death. Put the cat in a small room- like a small bathroom with a litter box, food and water.
Find or go immediately buy an ace bandage- 1 inch wide. Take the cone off. Put two fingers on her neck, and wrap the ace bandage around your fingers and her neck, until its thick enough that she cant reach her stitches. Its not ideal and should only be used temporarily, but its better than choking her.
Then buy a soft cone like this:

Royal Canin does make a hydrolyzed cat treat. Some people use mini marshmallows as a hypoallergenic pill pocket for dogs but I'm not sure you'd have good luck with that in a cat.

My favorite to this day (gentle on skin, tough on hair, double bladed, speed adjustable, quiet, long lasting, rechargeable, etc)
Full workup? Could you clarify what that means? I know they will be testing her stool for different things.
This is the stuff that she’s on. So I left her in my bed three hours ago with a shirt as cover, she seemed pretty weak. Got back and made her some boiled chicken.
Does she look healthy enough?
This has worked well for me. The other option is to leave the door open so she can come in.
this is a common phenomenon. the symptoms are consistent with severe spinal cord damage, likely due to a herniated disc. our deciding factor on whether to do surgery was if the patient still could sense deep pain it might be worth doing the surgery. if deep pain was absent, especially for more than a couple hours, the chances of a successful surgical intervention went way down. your vet and the information he's been giving you seems pretty right on. steroids help for a while. you can also look into wheels wheels
This product works really well with removing the urine smell even for a cat to deter repeat occurrences. CEVA Animal Health Urine-Away Soaker, 16 oz https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002SQC7VY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_4TTQSZ0PMCG8D2XT9HXC
I believe both types I had were Honeywell brand with replaceable HEPA filters.
Consumer Reports has a free guide that might help you here.
If your cat is having frequent OMB then the asthma is not well controlled. Cats with open mouth breathing are in severe distress and can even die suddenly. A rescue inhaler is the same as what a human asthmatic uses during an asthma attack to help open the airways. It's really the only thing to help in an emergency situation. There is an aerokat mask that is used with the inhaler. Long-term he could also be transitioned to inhaled steroids to reduce side-effects.
Although not on the VOHC list, CET is my clinics go to (CET poultry flavour). Thank you for the cat tax and trying to brush teeth!
Also, FWIW, the water bowl in question is the Pioneer Fountain Big Max, which I bought in stainless steel, but is also available in ceramic.
The other product I looked it is the Petsafe Drinkwell Stainless 360 Multi-Pet Fountain
All I have is the .jpeg file the Vet sent me. I remember the image was pretty clear when we looked at it in his office. I hope he didn't send me a lower quality version of it. I uploaded the file here: https://expirebox.com/download/e12bcb244a637d76e38dfdb1df7a99d1.html
The weird thing you can see around the injured leg is some kind of plastic "wire" he used to keep the dog's leg in place for the x-ray. I don't know if it's a helpfull information but what the Vet found interesting (but inconclusie) was the second "finger" from right to left.
Well, I hope the uploaded file can help. Any insight on the situation would be important right know.
Keep him in- use meds to calm him down -either get a prescription from the vet or try a calming product like “Licks” Zen (link below)
Among other issues with cats being let outside problems, cats can get heartworm disease from mosquitoes and the test is expensive and treatment doesn’t always work.
Also, most essential oils and all mosquito repellents are poisonous to cats- so please don’t even think about putting anything on his fur.

i currently feed him wellness brand (usually chicken, sometimes beef/herring/tuna)
and i was thinking i could maybe just mix 50:50 into his food something like this and see if that changes anything in a few months?
and feed him 2 tablets of denamarin a day
These are the type I prefer. You put the pill in the end, open your kitties mouth and shove the popper to the back of their throat then dispense. It makes the whole process last like 2 seconds.
Hi there! I appreciate the reply. The urine was fresh on the side of her new litter box, though I understand that's not considered sterile. I had just run the test strips over the urine. I used these test strips that claim to be lab grade, but the reviews on them seem very mixed about the accuracy.

You're right about there being too many variables. The soonest my vet has availability is 5 days from now on Sunday. I guess I'm worried that if it's something really serious, time is of the essence. I have an anxiety disorder so maybe I'm just catastrophizing lol. Fingers crossed that it's nothing serious. Again, thank you for the reply!

My Cat Has A Very Comfortable Harness, It Will Jump Over Easily, It Likes To Roll And Bounce.
Thank you, I definitely don't want this to happen. I found this on amazon and plan to get it... it's pricey, but it seems it will comfortably stretch across my backseat and be easier to take into a hotel vs a bulky metal crate. And it looks big enough for a travel litter box too!

Have you thought about using two different brushes? One that is designed to pull up loose hair for cats (probably what you have now) that you use a regulated amount, and the second one could be a good old fashioned paddle brush designed for use on wet hair like this one. Those are specifically designed to NOT grab hair while detangling. It would feel good for your cat but won’t grab nearly as much hair as the cat brush, so you could use it much more frequently in between “real” brushings.

It isn't a fix, but maybe try a inflatable collar instead of a cone so your cat can still play with it on. Here is an example of one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SLRC63M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_1PCD30P3EX360RVCBRE1
Everything is normal otherwise. I rarely see him drink water in general (cats don't drink water too often right?), but he's still eating and peeing normally as far as I can tell. He's strictly indoors.
The only recent change I can think of is that I purchased a de odorizer and placed it on the back wall of his litter box. Here's the product - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08TZX5PSP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_ADFEJ5C87496MXA0Y391?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I can't imagine it would harm him since it's advertised for litter boxes but it's the only thing I can think of that's different lately.
I have this model of water fountain that has a stainless steel cover and it's been awesome
All wood floors, and I just use this which says it's pet safe:
Better Life Naturally Dirt-Destroying Floor Cleaner, Citrus Mint, 32 Fl Oz (Pack of 2) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002AFK8QY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabc_FYgTFb7945VXA
This book may have some references cited. Of course there is plenty of research on feline ethology. https://www.amazon.com/Decoding-Your-Cat-Ultimate-Behaviors/dp/1328489906
You may also want to use search terms like feline ethology and look up veterinary behavior textbooks (should be written by/edited by DACVBs).
Maybe I don't understand BalanceIt the way I think I do. I view it as basically a vitamin mix and if I they have too much of a particular thing they just pee it out. Is that not the case? Also, now that you know what I'm doing is there something you could recommend instead of tallow? I want my dogs to be healthy but I'm also not a helicopter parent that thinks they can't ever have dog-McDonald's so I try and make dinner time delicious and fun for them but also healthier than store bought kibble, although I do think Hill's Science Diet Dry Dog Food is good food for the price.
There is a nose balm on Amazon that literally makes this flake off. I’m a member of a boxer group, and this is a common problem in that breed.
It maybe this one, has great reviews, https://www.amazon.com/Snout-Magic-Organic-Natural-Chapped/dp/B00Y3PW4SO/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1535413539&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=dog+nose+balm&psc=1
We're going through the same issue with our over weight rescue, and hyper Siamese. We just Surefeed off Amazon, it's pretty expensive but it's been wonderful so far. We continue scheduled feeding for the over weight cat to monitor her eating and let the other cat use the feeder.
https://www.amazon.ca/SureFlap-MPF001-SureFeed-Microchip-Feeder/dp/B00O0UIPTY
I have two goldens and their ears suffer the same issue. I use this as recommended by vet. It’s $20 Few drops down the canal, massage and then clean out with cotton wool. ZYMOX Ear Solution https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007NVJAJG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_uBeKFbBMY8BET
I’m glad you did the research to become aware that your dog did not come from a reputable breeder. Feeding on a set schedule is a great option. You can try a slow feeder bowl to help with the weight. Best of luck and thank you for loving your dog and taking the time to look out for him!
Yeah, she also squirms and yelps when I use the finger brush. I just can't imagine brushing her teeth with a finger/tooth brush for 2 whole minutes. I have this kit: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CTO395S/
She won't lick the toothpaste off my finger when I offer it to her, which makes me think she doesn't actually like the taste. Maybe I need to find another flavor of toothpaste?
Does she like treats? Cats can be clicker trained (as can many species, not just dogs). It can be fun for both of you and help her bond with you.
This book is a good starting point, but there's lots of good resources out there:

Maybe look into a treat ball for cats as well, you can have her solve it for treats, or even feed a portion of her meals that way.
There is a litter box that they can jump inside, it’s on Amazon. It has a lid and a round hole. I got this for my out-of-box pooper. She was also just missing over the edge.
Don't place an actual diaper on the puppy, line the carrier with a "diaper" or absorbable pad so if there is an accident the carrier isn't ruined.
Bring a Kong or three or four pre-filled with peanut butter and give one to the puppy at intervals to reduce stress and to distract her. This will likely cut down on screaming. You can also bring chews like bully sticks if you can give them to her while supervised.
At night, a crate would be best, but you could also set up a small pen (about 2x2 for a lab puppy) and/or tether the puppy to you. Plan to get up for bathroom breaks during the night.
Omg this must be a new product! Such a thing does exist now! I just have to hope the male doesn't learn how to steal from it - he is a smart little devil! He's gotten into out basement ceiling and everything -_-
arg nvm, this doesn't portion control exactly & she'll learn to open that up for an endless supply. Back to the crate idea!
AYTA? Short answer is no. There are many factors to consider when electing to hand raise birds. There can be long-term behavioral concerns with hand raised birds, but many do just fine.

I think your question really boils down to timing of when to pull from the nest. It really doesn't matter much if your husbandry is spot on and you're able to care/provide for all chicks and continue providing for the pairs.

Consider having a read of Birds for Dummies (specifically Chapter 13), which is one of the few books I've found covers behavior. Don't let the title fool you, there is a lot of good info in there regardless of your experience with birds.
Do you have a small walk in closet without shelves or a dresser he could get up on? Or a way to put things on top of the dresser to block it? This is what I did personally for my cat after his abdominal surgery. However I also purchased this crate so he could spend time in the living room with us. It was large enough for a small litter box, food/water, and a bed, and has a top to prevent him from getting out- https://www.amazon.com/ToysOpoly-Outdoor-Playpen-Exercise-Portable/dp/B013Q7FGQQ
Thanks for the response! I used this before: ZYMOX Ear Solution https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0025YOJXS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_Q3HXCbB46Y7E1
I still have some and will get some mineral oil to try. It was difficult to administer the solution before, even wrapping him in a towel so it might not have applied too well
Also a soft cone that looks like the plastic ones but its made of fabric, I've seen people also put these soft cones on backwards. -vet tech
What do you think about wipes like these.
Instead of tooth brushing?
What do you think of wipes instead of tooth brushing?
A little of both. I found a website that reviewed different supplements and got the one that seemed like it would be applicable but I also asked the vet if a digestive supplement/probiotic is safe and she said yes (without actually seeing what it was or whats in it).
The only safe type would be a saline solution like this or this - it cannot have ANY medications in it. If it says it reduces redness, that means it has medication in it and you cannot use it. Basically, avoid ALL human "eye drops" and just go to Walgreens and get a sterile saline wash.
When applying, do not touch the tip of the bottle to your fingers, his skin, his eyes, anything - that contaminates it and means bacteria can grow (and then be squirted into his eyes in greater amounts). Rinsing often is irritating, so don't do that.
