I really wish articles wouldn't flat-out lie in their headlines just to get views. Of course there will be tons of planets on the ecliptic. Our Solar System is a disk. By definition (by necessity), planets are located near the ecliptic. This is not the same as being aligned.
If you go out to the beach and take a picture of the ocean, you'll see that all the boats are near the horizon. Does that mean that the boats are aligned?
Tales of the Cthulhu Mythos is a good anthology to start with. It has a ton of stories by different writers, including Lovecraft himself.
You can also find all of HPL's writing for free, as it is out of copyright. This is a good place to find them.
I bought the Complete Cthulhu Mythos book from Fall River Press (found at Barns and Noble, I got a paper back version in store for around $15), it goes over everything having to do with his eldritch myths, not just Cthulhu, and orders them semi-chronologically, semi-sensically.
You start with very little knowledge about the world, but after reading a few short stories, you start recognizing more and more names and ideas, it's been a pretty cool to piece everything together. Because of that I, personally, wouldn't suggest starting in the middle, so to say, but no one story says everything, so it would just piece together differently I suppose!
Either way, not understanding his world is part of the fun!
Three or four players. It's medium weight, I'd say. So less complex than, say Chaos in the Old World and Arkham Horror, but more complex than stuff such as Munchkin, Settlers and so. You're welcome to take a look at the rules here: http://issuu.com/madsbrynnum/docs/cults_of_arkham_rules
You're welcome! It really depends on what you're looking for. You might also want to check this out as well: https://typekit.com/fonts/p22-franklin-caslon
I've seen a number of people use it for Lovecraftian stuff.
Congratulations man!
Mind that I'm not in US, so if anyone is interested here's the Amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/Horror-Space-Critical-Essays-Subgenre/dp/1476664056
I'll get it for Kindle.
If you want to drop a bit more money on the book, this is the limited leather bound version limited to 25 copies
There is a version of this for Android as well for anyone wondering.
Edit: So there's actually a couple of different ones, but this seems to be the best one. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.archteon.lovecraft&hl=en
I'd hyperlink it but new phone doesn't seem to have the option to format it properly.
Edit 2: fixed the link issue.
Maybe this? Looks even more trashy than the original 😂 https://www.amazon.de/Hexer-Salem-Episode-Fantasy-English-ebook/dp/B01LWLQPRF
The German one had at least decent covers: https://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=https%3A%2F%2Fimages.booklooker.de%2Fx%2F00frbU%2FWolfgang-Hohlbein%2BDer-Hexer-von-Salem-Die-sieben-Siegel-der-Macht-Horrorroman.jpg&imgrefurl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.booklooker.de%2FB%25C3%25BCcher%2FWolfgang-H...
All of my family and several of my friends found Betrayal at House on the Hill to be too rules intensive. The result is that I occasionally regret spending $50 on a copy of a game I can rarely play. I'm sure this is a fun game, but without people to play there's no way to justify the price.
It's the ever popular Cthulhu ski mask from the Qingdao Ever Fortune Industrial Co., Ltd. of Shandong, China. It boggles the mind that there are entire factories dedicated to producing Cthulhu merchandise. The last time I checked these were $1.45 apiece, FOB from China.
Here's a OneDrive link: https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=20E4203D0279F504!940&authkey=!AJgBSz6FaBB6n4E&ithint=file%2cstl
I have not used OneDrive shareable links before, so let me know if that doesn't work and I can do something else.
You're probably referring to these: book ends! as the metal tentacle ones, but I bet this artist would be willing to do a custom piece!
Each issue is only around $10 but there's a lot of content in the base game, and if you're like me you're only interested in the leveling and not the endgame content anyway.
It is currently live with 3 tiers: $3, $6, and $9
$3 for 10 audiobooks
$6 for 20 audiobooks
$9 for 30 audiobooks
There are also 2 bonuses to be unlocked at $1,500 and $3,000
You can typically buy everything Lovecraft ever wrote in a single book. There are a couple of different ones floating around. I have The Complete HP Lovecraft Collection, which was only .99 cents. Or you could just read all his stories from the website I linked to above.
I found it on Amazon with a bit of searching. Glad to see there's more than one author that's done this, more of it to read https://www.amazon.com/dp/1785652087/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_hiUsBbCS3X8NY (Sorry on mobile)
I'll just leave this here and exit quietly:

If you're interested in a full Lovecraft anthology, I would recommend this
https://www.amazon.com/Lovecraft-Short-Stories-Gothic-Fantasy/dp/1786644657
I'm a proud owner of it and it's my favorite in my collection of gothic writers.
There's a collection of some of his Mythos short stories called Haggopian which I've enjoyed.
For an novel-length read by another author (Donald Tyson), I also recommend Alhazred: Author of the Necronomicon, which is the first in a series, but I've only read this one.
Is this it?
I'm wondering where you found the glasses, though.
He will love this book - maybe destroy it at his age - but he'll love it.
If you want to start your own, maybe consider this book. [Full disclosure: I gave him a blurb after reading it, but otherwise do not know the author] https://www.amazon.com/dp/B011T57HKU/ref=dp-kindle-redirect?_encoding=UTF8&btkr=1
Hopefully this link will not anger the Elder Mods...
Commenting for reference. I bought this on my kindle and am amped to read it. BTW, its only 99 cents.
I got mine as gifts, but they seem to be available on amazon!
Books that are good, modernesque, and somewhat obscure: Cody Goodfellow's Radiant Dawn and Ravenous Dusk.
Sort of stealth-Mythos books, but I recommend them.
