Hi,
It happens the same thing for me based in Italy.
I tried with different devices (mobile, PC, laptop) and different VPN's (ExpressVPN, Pure VPN and Surfshark), but the behaviour is exactly the same described by yourself.
Anyone knows how to solve this?

Thanks!
I'm using NordVPN and i've mostly been moving from Singapore to Australia (AU has Bob's Burger's) to UK. Originally none of these had the 6th tile, but had the content, but over the last few hours, i'm now seeing the Star tile in almost every country I look that has it.
Lol, on a more general comment, the US Disney+ is sooooo lame by comparison to these other countries now. I know we have a lot of this stuff in Hulu, but i'd rather it all be in one place.
I'm a noob when it comes to VPN's an stuff.... So question:

If I subscribed to ExpressVPN will it let me watch shows that are available in other countries? Is that the idea of having a VPN?
I live in Thailand and I have AppleTV/AppleTV+. I'm not sure that I'm getting a different version from the US here, but I can't access Disney+ at all. So my solution might help you. I bought a router (mine is an ASUS RT-AC88U) and installed a VPN (NordVPN) on the router. I have an app on my phone which allows me to turn the VPN on and off when needed. It's normally off in order to enjoy the fastest speeds from my fiber connection. When I turn it on, it slows considerably, but I can still get acceptable performance for my Marvel/Star Wars fix from Disney.
This is even easier to do with an iOS device and any VPN. I used NordVPN for this.

You can freely disconnect your VPN now and sign in again with your main Apple ID on AppStore. In order to update Disney+ app on your iOS device however, you'll need to sign in again on your Turkish Apple ID. AppStore will ask you to just provide the password when updating all apps normally. You can now use Disney+ on your desktop or smart TV without a VPN.
NordVPN is working for me. Even ExpessVPN and Surfshark are also good VPN for plus. But I will still suggest to check the list of top VPN for Disney+ along with features. All these VPNs are working well for disney plus.
I'm going to simplify this process a bit.
Android 7/9/22: * Install VPN and GPS Spoofer. * Set VPN and GPS Spoofer to turkey * Add Payment Method to Google Play, it will ask if you want to change location to Turkey, say yes (can swap once every 12 months). Set zip code to 34025 (Istanbul) * Sign Up for DisneyPlus and pay with Google Pay.
Step 3 could be subbed to using a new Google account if you don't want to be stuck in Turkey in your play store.
Doing this process, there is no turkey phone number verification or turkey payment method verification.
I used NordVPN (existing account) and "GPS EMULATOR", just happened to be the first result for GPS Spoofer and did the job.
Thanks for the guide worked for me :)
Used NordVPN and Samsung Phone, only wierd thing I saw when I was trying to change country on the new google account from the phone, it would pick United Kingdoms Play Store, even though VPN and I checked all traffic was going to Turkey. But after some trying out different stuff it changed the country at some point to Turkey (my guess cached stuff from other google account).
After that it was a breeze to complete the rest.
It’s aii don’t worry but on my TV I got NordVPN n I pay for it but I can see how paying for a VPN is a burden. The FreeVPN that works that I recommended I’m sure it must be on the play store the name is FreeVPN -Unlimited VPN proxy
Try another VPN service like ExpressVPN.
On your latter question, I get the same problem too when I tried using my main profile outside Canada/USA. Create another profile and use that profile for other countries..
Yes... I just wrote about this... I’m having problems only when I’m on my Android tabs (Samsung) and using either SmartVPN or ExpressVPN. I can access Disney+ using ExpressVPN on my iPad. So what’s happening?
I would recommend doing your own research and testing out which VPNs work with Disney Plus, this is because most of them often get blocked or flat out don't work. My personal recommendations would be to try out Windscribe, WeVPN, NordVPN, and/or ExpressVPN.
Thanks for providing the complete guide of top VPN providers that consistently work with Disney plus. I will also recommend to use NordVPN with Disney plus. It is working very well for me.
> not sure how vpn works Websites mostly know where you are from your IP address. VPN changes that so websites think that you're in some other country.
> Is vpn trust worthy? Solid question. Depends on the VPN company.
> how much does vpn cost? Depends on the VPN provider. Good VPNs can be costly, especially the ones which support streaming services.
> how do you use vpn? Same as any other application. Download, install, run and click connect on the menu.
> are there any helpful tutorial to watch on how to use vpn? You won't need them. Chill.
> where can i get vpn for disneyplus japan? The real question. There are a lot of VPNs out there. Some are free while some are paid. For Streaming, be it Disneynplus or Netflix or anything, you'll better off with some paid VPN that has streaming support. What happens for free VPNs is that they get detected by the websites as vpns and the IPs they use get banned (which means you can no longer use it for streaming, sucks but yeah that's how the streaming services safeguard their content).
There's a list of working VPNs on this sub which you can use. I personally use ProtonVPN but you may have other preferences. There's no single VPN for everyone.
This isn't a free solution, and it's not technically installing Disney Plus on the smart tv, but I thought I'd suggest it anyway since it's what worked for me.
I also live in a country where Disney Plus isn't available on the LG App Store, and even if it was, there aren't any VPN apps there so it's pretty much useless. To watch Disney Plus on the TV, I ended up getting an Android TV box (you can connect it to the tv), and there I was able to download NordVPN and Disney Plus. I don't need to connect my laptop to the tv for that, so it works for me.
Hey! I've tried with ProtonVPN it's working :) https://protonvpn.com/support/watch-disneyplus-with-vpn/ they have Disney NOW apparently as well. Cheers!
Hello, sounds similar to my situation - Sony with Android TV - I installed clean APK and used NordVPN through UK server (legally bought subscription, only those idiots are N/A in my country). Everything worked fine until last APK update 2.2.0-rc5. After that Im getting Service unavailable in your country.
No problems what so ever with this service. If you have a DD-WRT capable router, you can even setup their service to just redirect the streaming services and use your ISP's or Preferred DNS address for everything else.
When companies purchase public IPs, they also register their full information. Since your VPS IP is identified as belonging to the VPS provider instead of a residential ISP, it's trivial for streaming services to block you. On https://ipinfo.io/what-is-my-ip see your ASN and Organization Info.
Had two emails, one saying Disney+ is an “unavailable streaming service” and the other saying it’s “under maintenance”. Despite this, still heavily promoting it - https://surfshark.com/use-cases/disney-plus
Tried TorVPN, that didn't work ('of course').
The irony is I had a legal subscription in another country, but I am traveling for a few weeks, and in another country. So this is not even fair from Disney, I am paying the monthly subscriptions.
You could try logging out and then in whenever your switching to a different location with your vpn that’s how it unlocks Star for me. I have mine switched to Canada Disney+ that has Star content. Im using the app VyprVPN.
Turns out it was Surfshark. NordVPN works for me, unfortunately I don’t have an android tv so I need to find an alternative way to connect the TV via VPN (using the laptop as mobile hotspot seems promising)
Have you checked the pinned posts? Here's a link: _streaming_working_vpns_and_how_to_buy_the/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
I'm also in the Philippines and I use ExpressVPN, works well for me.
That laptop advice is such bull***t. Too much hassle.
Fire stick TV 4K works wonders for Disney+, just set you Amazon account to US, or UK and you have automatic updates to Disney+ and VPN.
I'm using NordVPN to access US content and 4K streaming is no problem with HDR.
Just go for it.
I haven't used a VPN in a month, but the website is accessible to me with Windscribe, particularly Windflix US server. Also for usable VPNs I've mostly seen:
TorGuard
ExpressVPN
Surfshark
NordVPN
These are all widely used so they should have servers working, even if they don't they're ones with quite a high budget so they should be updated frequently.
Soo.. I'm in Gran Canaria and want to watch Disney+ so what do I turn on windsrive VPN but it doesn't work... Ok, let's try expressvpn, doesn't work either and I tried quite a bit.
So what do I try next Cloudflare's DNS(1.1.1.1) and there we go I can watch Disney+ now. Now I'm really curious about why a VPN doens't work but changing your DNS does...
So for everyone with Android:
I also observe this same streaming blocking behavior with a linode node running openvpn in freemont, ca. I'm not trying to defeat geographic restrictions, just obfuscating my location one step. I'm not sure why linode IP's are bing blocked as a whole unless the streaming providers have decided they are a source of VPN's. Seems there is no point in running a linode-based VPN if your going to try to stream across it since they are apparently on a VPN black list. NordVPN and others have done some work to work around this VPN restriction and I can verify it works.
Well, it works with the external IP address of your router, so if your phone is connected via WiFi to your router and you change the DNS manually on your phone, it works FROM HOME. But as soon as you go out, it won’t work and you need a VPN service. I personally am happy with NordVPN.
Yes, I am using NordVPN for Apple TV 4K and it works great to watch any TV shows and movies you want. It gives you the fastest connection with no issues of privacy theft. I have tested other VPNs as well but found NordVPN the best of all for streaming content in Apple TV 4K. Here, you can find detailed information about how NordVPN works great for Apple TV.
Strange because I constantly use Nord and never had such issues. Try reading tutorial or contacting them directly
Thanks! I had meant to try a similar method (hard reset Firestick, NordVPN first to pick a US server then open Disney) however my way crashed the app. Hopefully now it's had some bug fixes I can try my way or your method :)
NordVPN works fine for me, not been detected so far. The only problem with it is that it takes ages to find a NordVPN server that will connect sometimes
(Only been using it with Disney+ for 2 days)
My experience using NordVPN is that the best thing to do is to use rather than the main page. If there's a problem with the VPN server, it'll just keep loading forever and won't let you into the main website. If you go to the main site when using a bad server, you sometimes get the login that doesn't work or partial menus and stuff.
If that happens to you, just change server and try again. At the moment, US servers seem very reliable (improvement from last week).
I'm just trialling it just now as my experience with ExpressVPN had gone downhill after being a customer for quite a few years. I had the same problem, but I forced stop, cleared cache and data and signed back in. Currently connected to Atlanta and working as hoped.
I live in Germany so using a VPN to get English streaming sites to work is routine practice for me. Any time one of my streaming services (D+, Hulu, Netflix) doesn’t work with ExpressVPN, I jump on a chat with their customer support and they’ll tell me which server to use and it always gets things working again. Takes a few minutes at the most.
Thank you! It seems it has been fixed as other redditors who called expressvpn pointed out.
I sent an email yesterday and got this response:
Thanks for contacting ExpressVPN Support.
I understand that you're having trouble accessing Disney Plus and Hulu.
If you're trying to access US content on Disney Plus and Hulu, we want to let you know that this is a known and reported issue that our engineers are currently working on.
In the meantime, you may use the VPN to access other Disney Plus libraries by connecting to the following server locations:
Australia-Sydney 2 France-Strasbourg Switzerland Switzerland 2

Same problem
I use ExpressVPN on AppleTV 4k, firetv 4K pendant, and my iPhone. It’s been working for over a year until today.
Expressvpn is not working for Disney plus or Hulu. Seems to be working on hbo max, Apple TV plus and YouTube
On all devices it says it has problems connecting. I’ve already tried restarting all my devices and router
I’ve tried New Jersey 3, USA Hollywood, USA Washington DC, USA Dallas 2, USA Los Angeles 1
I’ve tried using LTE instead of home wifi and it’s still the same problem
I tried using ExpressVPN for the same purpose - to get around carrier throttling. Disney+ and Prime both detected it and wouldn't display programming even through my VPN connection was in the same state.
There are many free VPNs u can try from Playstore or Appstore. All u need to do is to connect to indian server.
I'd suggest u to look into expressVPN and NordVPN. The premiums are easy to get on android without paying amything ( if u know what i mean) . But it will be bound to Android only.
Get Surfshark, its cheapest and work for me in many scenarios.
The best option is to get a VPN that can connect directly to your router if it has the option. When choosing a VPn for gaming, a fast and reliable connection is a priority here. Look for a company with plenty of servers because you'll have a better chance of finding a fast connection, so. Some services also offers dedicated gaming servers.
I'll recommend you NordVPN
I'm not sure why ExpressVPN are struggling with DisneyPlus I've all but given up with contacting there support as they don't seem to have an answer. Note if I don't use the VPN and connect DisneyPlus just using my local country ISP , it works fine.
Back when it first launched, I managed to sign up on an iPhone using a US App Store account. I already had one, but it can be created for free and without a US payment method etc. This way, you can access the US app selection and install Disney+. Then, I got a US Apple gift card (you can get one online and have the code emailed to you) to top it up — since the funds in the Apple account can be used to pay for Disney+, I did just that. Then you just have to remember to keep the necessary balance in the account when the time comes to pay for another month. Other than that, you can switch back to your usual App Store account if you wish.
(Not sure if/how a similar trick can be pulled off on Android if you’re not an Apple user)
VPN-wise, I used ExpressVPN (not all servers worked while trying to watch actual content, but I remember the San Francisco one did) throughout the process. Of course, once you’ve got everything set up, you should also be able to watch on a PC (through your browser) or any other device with a correct VPN connection.
Please note that this was back when Disney+ first launched and, since I no longer have a subscription, I can’t say for sure that this method will still work. Best of luck, though!
I simply changed the DNS server to ExpressVPN's. Did you follow all the instructions on the ExpressVPN help page? You have to register your hostname in ExpressVPN's DNS settings (and set up DDNS if you don't have a static IP) before you can use the DNS. Also, if you previously tried opening Disney+ without the VPN, try reinstalling the app. I had to do so for it to stop showing the service unavailable message.
I had been using D+ for 4 months with IPVanish without any problems, as of 3/23 I am being blocked. It seems they have gotten very strict with their VPN blocking policies. I use IPVanish and most servers will be blocked by D+, other servers will allow me to log in and play 1 title, then it will block me. It's been trial and error for me. I guess people that have Express VPN and are considering to jump ship can rest assure that it's not just express VPN.

I have IPVanish, and have the same problem, I am being blocked because of geolocation. It seems that D+ is now becoming strict with their IP policy, just like Netflix. I had to try different server locations, but it only allows me to play 1 title and then blocks me again. I used to be able to connect with no problem before. Trial and error
From the last two week it is consistently working with Disney plus, according to my testing mate. But i would recommend Surfshark or Express over IPVanish because these two providers are so consistent from the start.
Nope, I actually got in touch with Smart DNS Proxy several times, waiting some time between each contact, but the answer was always the same: no support planned...
I haven't been looking that much at other providers because I really don't have the time to subscribe to everyone's trial and test this out + everything else I'm using works fine at 4k.
I'm able to stream very well on both Smart DNS Proxy and Getflix for both Disney+ and Netflix. I don't think I can get 4K as 4K needs constant 20Mbit traffic between US to Turkey where I live. But I get full HD all the time.
Personally, I would not recommend Avast VPN for streaming Disney Plus or any other geo-restricted streaming services because its servers are not optimized for unblocking streaming services. This is why you are facing issues while watching D+.
Providers like Surfshark, PureVPN, Nord, Express, Cyberghost, Ivacy, and IPVanish are far better options to watch Disney+ as they offer dedicated servers for streaming. Right now, i am using Surfshark and Pure to watch Disney+ and they are working perfectly fine.
Disney + should be working very well. We believe there was a network glitch at the time your app tried to access through our network and your app has caches the wrong routing IPs. In such case re-activating your IP on the Smart DNS Proxy and restarting your device should solve the issue. Also if this is related to mobile device like iPad, we suggest you to access one of our SmartVPN network closer to your physical location. You don't need to activate your IP when using our SmartVPN network. Then simply restart your app and it should work. Still, please reach our 24/7 support if you will need any further help.

First, go to APKCombo, scroll down and tap the green button that says "Download APK (9MB)", and download all three APKs (base.apk, config.xhdpi.apk, and config.en.apk). The base.apk will attempt to download automatically once that page loads, but you'll have to tap the other two yourself to download them.
Next, download Split APKs Installer from the Play Store. Open it, tap Install APKs, then browse to your download folder, select all three of the APKs you just downloaded, and tap the button at the bottom labeled "Select (3)". It will then automatically combine them together using whatever magical juju the Play Store itself uses for split APKs, and the usual sideloaded app installation screen will come up, at which point it's no different than installing any other sideloaded app.
At some point during this whole process you'll have to allow SAI to install other apps, as well as enable installing apps from unknown sources if you haven't already, but it's been a while since I installed SAI so I'm not sure exactly when that is. You will be prompted, though.
Best of luck finding a working VPN, though, every one I've tried hasn't worked at all.
