Yikes - check out these product reviews:

Concerning example:
>IS NOT ZERO GRAVITY does not feel like floating just an overpriced beanbag chair
>Wow what a ripoff, this chair feels nothing like a float session which the advertisement said, it feels like a plain old bean bag chair. I notice you don't allow reviews on this page that should have been a major red flag to me, I am beyond unhappy with this purchase. what a overpriced piece of junk!!
It's a shame that a company would tout all the beneficial research of floating and slap that to their product. "Studies show floating does X, and our bean bag is just like floating so therefore you get X!"
Get one of these ear rinsing kits or something similar. You should be able to find one at Walmart or Target or somewhere similar. Should clear it right up
It really is valuable, which is why I hope I'm not too addicted to music when I finish my zen tent. So binaural beats have been giving you interesting results? I've always wondered if they leaned toward more pseudo-nonsense or not - maybe I shouldn't pre-judge too quickly. They're easy enough to acquire and try.
PS I got these waterproof earbuds a while back. I can attest to their sound quality - pretty good for $17. I was worried they'd be absolute shite. I'm not the heaviest audiophile but I do hate super crap earbuds so this was a relief.
this book was written by the guy who built and owns and runs the float center where I float:
https://www.amazon.com/Business-Books-Arent-Funny-Relentless/dp/1729132979
he also owns another float center in another city.
It's a GREAT book, and he says just what I say here: if you build the equipment you have a huge advantage in running the show because you know the system very thoroughly
I did it a lot in the past (late 1970s) when we were using sodium chloride rather than epsom salt. There were no noticeable negative effects. The poster who mentioned the skin microbiome might have a point. Showering twice a day alone might have negative effects on the microbiome. You might want to consult a dermatologist about this.
You might check out the book "Teach Us To Sit Still" by Tim Parks. https://www.amazon.com/Teach-Us-Sit-Still-Skeptics/dp/1609614488
Overwhelmed by a crippling pelvic condition which nobody could explain or
relieve, Parks follows a fruitless journey through the conventional
medical system only to find relief in the most unexpected place: a
breathing exercise that eventually leads him to take up meditation."
Pelvis issues are no fun. I have BPH and have had my share of discomfort and pain. Good luck!!
Building your own tank is a viable option and is not nearly as complicated as its made out to be. I built two very serviceable tanks (one in 1978 and sold it to a tank business for a mobile promotional tour and another in 1981). However it's time consuming and would probably cost at least $1500-$2000 so if you've got the money go with a Samadhi.
This seems like a good product. It is an R-value of eight and it’s about the dimensions I need, 4’ x 10’ so I can cut it down. So I would cut it to a sheet of 4’ x 8’ and lay on top of the water because it’s got so much trapped air in it and it’s sealed up well enough to not get waterlogged or fall apart it seems like from the description. Does that sound about right, and any other details for use?

I think it’s just brilliant to do it that way. And since it’s flexible you can sort of get it in and out of the doorway compared to trying to use something rigid.
if you have a fairly quiet room in the house a lot of the high frequency sounds will be blocked out once you have your ears under the water. low frequency sounds will travel through the floor though. might want to grab 12 of these and place them under the board.

This is the UV light I used. I was wrong above, it was $15 when I bought it, not $7.

I run it 2 hours a day and have never seen any algae in the tent.
No problem, FYI there are stickers on the filter motor. They will come off and get sucked in the side of the motor which will mess up the motor. U should get this one https://www.amazon.com/Intex-Krystal-Cartridge-Filter-110-120V/dp/B005QIYL7E. The flow rate is so high it makes short work of 200 gallons.
Listening to music underwater is pretty much my favorite thing ever. I've used a lot of waterproof headphones. The best one in my experience is the [Sony Waterproof Walkman](sony waterproof and dustproof walkman with bluetooth wireless technology nw-ws623 (black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071NTXYNY/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glc_fabc_15CJ7VECR853W1GBT3ZV). It has a built in mp3 player (4gb) and Bluetooth. There is models that don't have Bluetooth so be sure you get one that has it, if that's what you want. Bluetooth has almost no range under water though. You'll have to take your phone in the tank and keep it close to your head (No BT headphones get good range underwater especially if the phone is also underwater). You'll get much better sound, stability and range using the Mp3 player part instead. There is also specific ear pieces to use for underwater be sure to use those, they come with it.
You'll definitely will need to be hardwired. I have used these for years: link
They are no longer carried, but the type of ear plugs is the important thing if you can find something similar. I connected these to a six feet long extension cable protecting the connection with shrink tube wrap. I run the cable out of the tank door to my phone or mp3 player. Important: needless to say, make sure your phone is not plugged in for charging during your float (I've had two times where I had to explain this to grown ass adults).
Be sure you wipe off and dilute in water (or light vinegar-water mix) to remove any salt build up after every use. Good luck and i highly recommend a good yoga nidra recording while in the tank.
What is the model of the UV filter if I want to replace the whole thing? Where can I get a new one if the old one is broken? We have inventory on the UV pumps if you do need to purchase a replacement, however, if you would like to source it on your own the model details:
Model: CUP 8000, Power: 140W Max Head is 5 meters. Output is 6500 L/H Weight 3.2kg

Look for salt water aquarium websites for in-line parts of all the same stuff: pump, filter, uv, heater. They’ll all sit outside the tank. Shane Stott has plans online somewhere of how he built his first tank.
I don't see a link to a different product, but if you're referring to the on/off switch, you need to plug that into the GFCI outlet.
The one that comes with the tank is like this:
Make sure everything that can get wet (consider if the tank ever leaks) is connected to GFCI . Don't forget you have heating pads under it.
Yes - everything should be attached to a GFCI plug. I used an in-line switch to turn the filter pump on and off because the GFCI outlet I have doesn't have an on/off button on it.
Here's one like the one I'm using:
I love the overall design of the zen tank but overall I believe the filter is cheap and could of been done better. So I bought this and at 1000 power flow rate itll only need to run for a short time. Plus the unit itself and filters are cheaper.

I have narrow ear canals, and had trouble getting earplugs to work. I tried about 4 or 5 different kinds, then found these that work well for me.

It's based on his book https://www.amazon.com.au/Float-Tank-Cure-Yourself-Anxiety-ebook/dp/B0137ZQ0CQ Anxiety, stress and pain.
Don't think it will reach the goal anyway, he should have had more options other than $10 or $100 and then basically expensive options for float centre owners. Massive oversight which seems in line with similar oversights of his Zen tent business.
edit: I see he added a $30 one finally, bit too late though I think.
Tanks for the Memories by John C. Lilly is a great place to start, but I would also recommend The Book of Floating by Michael Hutchinson.
