I am not sure what your experience shorting stocks is but I trade as a main source of income and am used to have various different types of positions on. It's not uncommon for the margin requirements to be raised on a stock that's went up so quickly.
It makes sense that if a stock is moving up in multiples, you will need to have multiples available to pay for losses.
This is NOT what you should be worrying about. What you SHOULD worry about is this :

As others have mentioned (u/hippickles). This has been up since at least Feb 9.
This means that shorts require 3x the value of GME’s current price for each share they are shorting. That being said, this is the retail requirement from 1 particular broker, could be a different requirement for HFs and is a different amount for other brokers, though most brokers have similar high requirements right now. Questrade (Canada) upped their margin from 300% yesterday to 500% today.
This is bullish news, because it means brokers recognize their is at least the possibility that the price soars and are concerned the shorts might not have enough to cover. It also makes it easier for margin calls to occur, which would set off a price surge. In short, brokers raising their margin requirements make a squeeze more likely to happen... which can lead to them increasing their requirements further and so on...
Ok my wording is off.
You are investing in the underlying asset but if you read it it says leveraged positions you do not own the asset which implies you actually do own the asset on a non leveraged long position.
But I'm not in finance. Just my interpretation

Your issue is coming from etoro wallet not from the plateform. I use etoro too, i was worried at the beginning but now i'm pretty confident they will not steal us like robinhood did.
Btw etoro is not totally free, they take a spread and they take 5$ for every withdraw. And for those who are saying that etoro is selling our informations to hedgies, maybe but i think it's unlikely, PFOF is already banned in certain european countries and EU is around the corner to not allow PFOF.
Amazing write up. The only thing that bothers me about it is if Kenny is turning junk bonds into real assets, why short Gamestop? All of their brick and mortar locations are typically in a mall or strip mall where they would be renting out the space and not the owner of the property. After I started the transfer, I checked RH and it showed, "Your Robinhood account has been restricted." I also received two emails from Robinhood: "Details about your transfer request" and "We’ve received your request to transfer assets out of Robinhood." Each had a link to their account transfer process and guidelines.
I also received am email from Fidelity: "Transfer of Assets Request Submitted," with a link to their Transfer Tracker.

Fellow europoor, first you should check if CS accepted your W-8BEN submission online.
Indeed, I am in a similar situation and I had to send the physical form to CS (via courier). The reason being that my Wise.com account (in USD) appears to be at a bank in the US, but the address registered at my CS account is not in the US.
Therefore, together with the W-8BEN form I had to write a short letter explaining why my bank account is in the US while I am not a resident there (i.e., I do not pay taxes in the US).

They're an index fund. When we buy shares, the market cap goes up and they buy more shares. It's just how index funds work, and Vanguard is the biggest. They don't give AF about GME, but when we buy more it forces them to buy more, which kills the short.

I did a Full Transfer, moving stocks out, as Crypto isn't included in the transfer (I think).
From Robin'You's Transfer Page:

- Securities in your RHF account are eligible to be transferred through the Automated Customer Account Transfers Service (ACATS) to other brokerages.
- You can decide whether you want to transfer all your eligible securities in a full ACAT transfer, or only some in a partial ACAT transfer.
- After you complete a full ACAT transfer, we’ll close your Robinhood account.
- There is a $75 fee for partial and full ACATS out of Robinhood.
- Cryptocurrency held with Robinhood Crypto is not currently transferable to other brokerages.
- If you request a full ACAT transfer, RHC will automatically liquidate any cryptocurrency holdings and RHF will transfer the cash proceeds to the other brokerage in a residual transfer.
It's ok, I have the smoothest possible brain as well. It's at the bottom of https://robinhood.com/account/settings if you're on gold as I was then it will display. But the actual problem with RH is that even if you disable margin it's still on margin. They lie. They are actual crooks.
I feel your pain. I waited to transfer for months out of fear of missing then when I started the transfer (last wednesday) and it was done in two days I felt a huge wave of relief. I say do it! You'll feel better when your shares are sitting with a broker that you can reach any day of the week via phone.
I am a cash account GME holder and verified it with RH. They gave me the option of starting the process of attending the meeting in person (or virtually). They also gave me this link to view the process. PLEASE NOTE if you are on a MARGIN account (RH instant counts as margin) YOU MAY NOT HAVE ANY RIGHTS TO VOTE....according to the article.
If you got instant deposit, can't day trade, and can trade after hours then you have robinhood instant their margin account, you have to downgrade for a cash account, they don't work like normal brokers.

You'll see it shows a cash account option. If you click the button where it tells you how to Downgrade, it takes you to a page that tells you how to Downgrade from Gold, but says nothing about downgrading specifically to a Cash Account.

I was looking on another page for robinhood. They say a Non-Originated ACH Deposits & Withdrawals have a 250,000 limit. Anyone know what this means? Can it go into standard banking account?

You can transfer shares wholesale using a process called ACAT, which moves your shares without selling them. However it can take 5 - 7 business days at least to process, and with Robinhood’s shite customer service (and delay in getting tax forms out) I’m worried it would be longer.
RH like many brokers is a member and insured by SIPC for this very reason. Your investments/cash are protected. The actually logistics or timeline of a scenario such as that? I don’t know. Here’s link to RH’s SIPC insurance
According to their website it takes 2 days to settle funds after selling, so wait another day or so and see if it works. Hopefully it's not some kind of fuckery like what I'm going through with this deposit that is suppose to take "5" days.

If you want confirmation, then you should call them, or use their online chat (login in your CS account, and a prompt will appear). Probably you have to wait for their US staff to begin the working day though.
By the way, did you link your USD account on Wise.com? If so, you can at least check that such an account appears to be at a bank with a US addresss. Then you can also read somewhere in the instructions to compile the W-8BEN form that additional explanation is required by the IRS in such a case: bank account in US but residence address outside of the US.

If the current price is $200, you can set a maximum of %1000 Take Profit (i.e $20,000). It’s important not to click sell (which should be disabled for GME already. In eToro that means you want to short a stock. You should instead set a TP amount or rate). Or if you want to sell all your shares at the current share price, you should click on close trade (its icon is like ❌).

The only way it should be activated is if you were to put funds into it. They might be able to say that their was activity on the account by logging in but all that would do is be able to show a larger number for active members. This would not help the volume if trades through robbinhood or the amount they have on their books unless they were cooking the numbers. Just get all your money out, deactivate your account, make sure you have all documents from them that you need, then never deal with them again. It doesn't seem that hard to me unless you still have cash or assets with them for some reason

Interactive brokers is a broker that works with a lot of other brokers. You can request online via a form that they will ask your broker to send your shares to them. When they arrived it is literally like 5 clicks away, since you can again request online for them to direct register your shares. You will need 5$. If you don't have the currency dollars you can send the money via PayPal, since they can send the money your money in dollars. If you want to I can show you the process.

Yesterday was a margin gamma ramp banks needed to destroy. Death by 1000 slashes or death by 1000 shares maybe? Remember that GME is not the only battle they have, all the others potential squeezes with new ones showing up (mining). This will end with a large bank (BofA, etc) losing depositors money and a crash at some random time, a NFT dividend or some other random catalyst. If you were right, not short of cash etc, all the meme stock prices would be near $0, not a new ceiling of $200 (was near $500 2021).

Seriously anyone still on Robinhood needs to have their head examined, and if you have a margin account, your shares are most definitely sold short. Robinhood's business model is to lend shares from margin accounts.
I appreciate the warning, but I think us apes should be very careful about calling out scam without proof of it actually being scam. Doing so will hinder voting across the board, which is not what's wanted.

I've never traded options on Robinhood but if they are like most brokers, the calls shouldn't automatically exercise unless it's expiration day and if you did want to exercise them early you should be able to do so from your account via the app or the website.

Had Robinhood and after January BS I switched to webull etrade and fidelity. What I think is crazy is all them websites I signed up with using my google account. Why would they want access to all my personal sh*t or what I post. Just like why would webull and robinhood want all that info and who are they really sharing all my data with?

A lot of brokerages don't do fractional shares, so this makes sense.
The money went to my Fidelity account 3 days after the transfer went through though.

If you have default on then it should be ok. I believe when you buy using that "instant deposit", that's kinda margin. But after that, it will in cash after your money settled. (Someone corrects me if I am wrong)
But you should be thinking about a better broker.
If you already have shares in RH, I suggest to do nothing. Don't transfer. Don't switch. Just do nothing because you don't know when it pops. Transfer locks your shares.
If you want to buy more shares, do it in a better broker like Fidelity. Takes a few mins to open an account.

It says we are at $217 currently, but somehow DOWN, Yes, -2% for the day. HOWEVER, if you open up their app, it says very obviously UP 2.41%.

You cannot transfer if you have insufficient funds or any sort of delinquency or margin.
Fidelity and Schwab seem to be a favorites in the US. I have Td Ameritrade and they limit sell prices extremely low, so I have issues with them and don’t really use that account (will probably close it since I originally got it for penny stocks many years ago). For example, I can’t even set 1 share of gme to sell for $300, whereas on schwab I can get at least $800-1000 sell price with the current pps.

You do have the options in RH, and every broker allows Trailing Stop Orders.

It was on Robinhood as a news card or whatever, said MarketWatch, posted 7 hours ago. I can now longer find it. When I viewed the card it took me to the Robinhood support page regarding trading halts. Robinhood Support Page
For the record, I do not use Robinhood for stocks anymore. They just have a better app than Fidelity for me to check the stonks.
Ye sure, there are several brokers that "automatically" route your order through different marketplaces that is "best" suited for it to ensure the best deal for you (sarcasm). If you change this now to manually and select a different one, that does not side with Citadel, you can increase your Limits.
