Would amps like these work? Would these amps and the Apple dongle enable me to us le my mic when gaming?
Sennheiser is the best. No questions. Sound improves with use. I want to replace gsp350s with this
So I had the same issue with my headset awhile back. It turned out I just had a faulty front 3.5mm jack on my case/motherboard. You can try plugging the microphone into the back and asking or seeing if it gets rid of the static. If it does it's just a faulty front mic port. If it doesn't it could be the headset.
An alternative to all of this is getting a USB to 3.5mm jack. This helped another microphone that didn't get loud enough even at 100% and 30+ db gain. I got the usb dongle and I didn't even have to go up to 100 it was just a good all around fix.

I purchased this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006HNQQ66/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It's a tight fit. You'll need to stretch it a bit.
As another note, I received a replacement headset due to another problem I had. This new unit has the same mic issues for me so it's just a normal characteristic of the headset.
If you want something to sound really good, it's not going to be in a headset.
This is 50% over your budget but I recommend you try out the Sennheiser HD 660S.
I own the HD 6XX (identical to the 660S but with less sub-bass) and I can confidently say it matches your taste. It can effortlessly reproduce sub-bass so deep, you feel like the world is shaking. It has very fast transient response which means it sounds like the difference between listening in front of a live band, and listening to a live band with a thick curtain between you and them. It has a very small sound stage which means that it sounds like the live band is playing directly next to your ear.
This all sums into a very intimate and clear sound. Pair it up with a mod mic and you have yourself a headset that can be used on console and PC/mobile.
It's Amazon, if you don't like it, you can always return it.
Oh, and did I mention that the only thing I've personally heard that sounds subjective better than my HD 6XX is a pair of $12,000 electrostatic far-field speakers?
Cooler Master MH751 is $60 right now on amazon. Absolutely the best deal at that price

yeah bro! i bought the fidelios off amazon. awaiting the delivery now! Just gotta get this mic haha. I also found this one which has similar ratings at the boom pro but im assuming the boom pro is probably better. Really excited for the fidelios though. gonna be awesome

I see, makes sense. I've heard people say they use proprietary cables while others say there are third party ones you can replace it with, like the ATH M50X cables for example. But if some work and some don't, I wonder if there's a logic to it. EPOS's stance is that only their own are compatible, which is what you'd expect them to say regardless.
Do you happen to know anything about this? Hopefully I can just buy something like https://www.amazon.se/AGS-Retail-Ltd-Kompatibel-ljudkabelers%C3%A4ttning/dp/B06ZZ2NRJ8/ref=sr_1_46?crid=TM6Q81VTW3OB&keywords=2.5mm+to+3.5mm&qid=1670952644&sprefix=2.5mm+to+3.5m%2Caps%2C94&sr=8-46 and be good to go.
Unless their TV has optical out like most do. I plan on splitting the optical off the TV with one going to my soundbar and the other going to my Modi 3 and Magni 3. This splitter should do the trick, looks perfect for what I'm planning. 😀
You can try the Fosi Audio new model gaming DAC K5 PRO, it's the upgrade version of Q4, I have a PS5 that works well with the K5 PRO. It supports USB, optical, coaxial input but does not support Dolby atmos.
I have these, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09FPD2TP1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Also have the sound blaster AE-5, also came from the game one and its a HUGE improvement from the gameone headset.
My mistake they are still just as expensive as the audeze penrose, but these are really good as well https://www.amazon.co.uk/HyperX-Cloud-Alpha-Wireless-Noise-cancelling/dp/B09TRW57WB/ref=asc_df_B09TRW57WB/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=586103541081&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=8708297977689872516&hvpone=&hvptwo=&am...
Alright, thanks. This one look good? It is USB 3.1 unlike the others
Amazon has a pair of the A40TR on sale. Idk if you’re buy it but the used in very good condition is only $65. Really hard to beat that price.
And WoW sounds great. The openback is a world of a difference. It goes from everything sounding pretty compressed in your ears w/ the Logi to super spacious w/ the 560s.
I leave the DAC at full volume and control system volume w/ my keyboard. Bass boost on, High gain on the back switch. Once it's hooked up you can enable spatial audio through the windows Sound settings.
Final VR3000
Though pretty much any IEM wont have the best mic situation. But these are it. Get em. Not much press that i find - but huge soundstage, really remind me of HD650s.

Why usb over 3.5mm? Also which one do i need?
and then also buy like a usb C to usb A adapter for the back of my pc? (i only have one usb c port at the front of my pc but the cable is just too short really without the usb dongle) it works but stretched you know
I have the same issue with my Beyerdynamic MMX300 on the PS5 Dualsense controller, the connection is just a bit too loose and can cut out occasionally!
You won't want the adapter you have linked above, as that is too big for the connector on the Xbox controller. Try a 3.5mm female to male adapter (something like: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B016E5PEXC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and see if that works.
Annoyingly for me, this did not resolve the issue, but this may vary of course - if anyone has had any similar issues and has come up with a solid solution, please let me and OP know!
This is a little expensive but I’ve used this to bypass blown out jacks on controllers before.

You are on a really good spot. I have Asus Maximus xi z390 motherboard, hd560s headset and v-moda boom mic and didn’t have any single problem about driving this headset. And I switched from -gaming- wireless headsets to real open back headsets and woila the differences is like day and night. I got hd560s, v-moda boom mic(the one that you shared Amazon link, same one) and jack converter. You need that converter coz hd560s has 2.5mm jack with lock mechanism, v-moda has 3.5mm jack without any lock mechanism. So this is our guy. Get all these 3 pieces and they will work like a charm. You won’t regret from this combination. Also welcome to real gaming sound experience territory.
I bought these and they fit perfectly on the PC38x. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016WOYASA?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
There are cheaper ones on Amazon, but not sure they are big enough. So, just sticking with these.

Tbh, I wouldn’t spend 1k+ on a set of headphones. My max is right around 500$ for the dollar-for-dollar performance ratio. These are current favorited for clear lows, mods and highs as well amazing, clearly defined, directional sound. (I produce music and game)
Şimdi baktım, 599, 559 gibi modeller var 1600 TL civarına. Bi de şunu aldınız mi mik olarak tadından yenmez :) mikrofon
Sennheiser pc38x is on sale right now for 149 $. Not usb but you could just buy cheap usb soundcard for it. Pc38x is one of the best headsets that you can buy right now.
Get this on. its 3.5 but comes with the usb dongle. Its sooooooo good and under $100
Arctis 7 wireless my friend has an Arctis 1 wireless and it's pretty good for $90. The Arctis 7 might be even better.
I personally went with a takstar pro 82 and I have absolutely no regrets. I'm a big fan of wireless, but I'd still take the 82 over a wireless anything, that thing feels like wearing a cloud on your head. I wear it for upwards of 6 hours with next to no discomfort.
Corsair Void Elite RGB Wireless Gaming Headset is this the same headset just in black? amazon site is in german but a few more reviews.
You'll need HDMI to Optical splitter.

smth like this, and you good to go.
You’re not mistaken my guy, I’ve owned the PC38X for slightly more than a year now and they absolutely have a flaw with sub-bass frequencies (< 60 Hz). Do more research and you’ll find a decent number of people complaining about the exact same issue. It doesn’t appear to be widespread; some people insist they have no such problems thus my uneducated guess is that it’s a manufacturing flaw which only affects a % of headsets.
I see in your edit you concluded that the Xbox is the issue, not the PC38X, but I’m skeptical because I have the exact issue you describe and it persists regardless of where I have it plugged in to. Try this: hook up the PC38X to your laptop/computer right now and listen to Starboy (the song, not the whole album). You’ll notice the Rice Krispies noises as soon as the bass hits. Important: make sure the volume is at max for this test because the sounds only appear at certain volume thresholds, hence the crackles you hear right after explosions (which tend to be loud) If you don’t hear any of the snap, crackle, pops then I’ll be convinced your Xbox is the issue.
I still use my PC38X and love them, the caveat being that I had to dramatically tune down the problematic frequencies (< 60 Hz). I’m currently on PS4 and the only way to accomplish this was by investing another $130 on this. It wasn’t a cost-effective solution by any means, but it brought me peace of mind. If I could go back in time I’d honestly just invest in a better headset and purchase a mic separately. I really didn’t want to let go of the all-in-one design that is the defining feature of gaming headsets, but now I see the move is to invest in headset first, worry about microphone after.
Thank you very much.

According to the spreasheet, the best choice would be HyperX Orbit S.
However, it is nowhere near that price nowadays (lowest price being 340EUR while my budget is 200-250EUR).

Second choices would be Creative Aurana Live!/SE or E-MU Walnut/PH but they do not seem to be retailed anywhere anymore.

Then comes the Beyerdynamic DT770 80ohm => 120EUR, which leave 130EUR for microphone and eventually amplifier in case MSI X570 Unify would not be enough (according to my research, it seems to be enough but I must test on my own).

I am accustomed to Logitech G935, Sennheiser HD202 and Bose QC35. They all have high perception of bass for my newbie understanding of sound and I fear to be disapointed with DT770 bass.
=> May I have your expert opinion on that ?
There is no (EQ) for any of the closed recommandation but would the DT770 accept a little bass boost with something like this Fosi Audio Q4 mini DAC ?
Hi there,
Your guides and comments have been absolutely phenomenal in my quest to find a good headphones pair. First of all, thank you for all your free information!
I went through all your guides - 2021/2022 both the versions. HD599 is what I found to be the best fit after going through all of them(coupled a lot more reddit/youtube research)
I'll talk about this particular list you mentioned,
As I mentioned in the OP, the Drop.com options are completely out of question. Sennheiser Game One is not available. The next best choice in the current list seems to be the HD 599
Given these budget/availability constraints, do you think HD 599 SE + cheap Lavalier mic are a good option? I've updated OP to include links.
If not, what would you suggest? If I increase my budget to $150, is there anything better?
I used to have G933. It is a terrible headset. Currently I have Sennheiser HD599. Sound quality is so much better with the HD599. You can buy mic for HD599/HD598/HD560S.
If you want to use virtual surround you can buy Dolby Atmos for headphones or use free software like HeSuVi. I have HeSuVi installed but I don't use virtual surround anymore.
>Magni 3+ and an apple dongle dac

So this is a no go then?
End up with this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VDQQY95/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
A friend of mine let me have this, I assume it's the same one.
Oh sorry, another question, I've seen you put the AKG K612 as good option, what do you think of this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/AKG-Open-Back-Over-Ear-Reference-Headphones/dp/B00DCXZY1W
Its a AKG K612PRO, I don't know if its comparably good.

Thanks in advance!
Only have one usb c and its being used
I have found that my front audio jack makes the pc38x show as headphones, but the left channel does not work.
Can she just get the chat mix add on for the controller? Microsoft use to make them but theres still no too expensive third party ones.
Thank you, side note do you recommend adapters such as this one? As sometimes the 3.5mm jacks on my PC case randomly stop working
Buy the sennheiser y splitter (doesn't have any o be sennheiser brand) buy an apple dongle https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07K25P3N1/ref=cm_sw_r_awdo_navT_g_7WCHYD89T795RVRZRE08.
I use this and have my mic volume at 75 and it is plenty loud enough. You may also want to boost your mic volume in windows if it's too low. I had to do that when going directly into the motherboard and it gets very loud.
A little out of budget but…

Didn’t know Amazon starting carrying these. Bought mine from Drop directly earlier this year
There's this one here on Amazon that's a straight connection with no adapter: ABLET Boom Microphone Cable Compatible with Headphones. No idea what the quality is like in terms of it's build and sound but it is an option.

Personally I'm using a ModMic Wireless to avoid needing to have a separate cable along with the prexisting headphone cable. I do understand it's expensive but in the long run I find it much easier to manage. If you do go with this route, I recommend picking up this charging dock for it here on Etsy, makes it even more enjoyable to use: ModMic Wireless Magnetic Charging Stand.

Hope this helps.
Senny’s Game One should serve you well. You can check other websites for better prices.
I ended up going with the
Corsair Void RGB Elite Wireless Premium Gaming Headset
Its a little "loose" on my head and anything but the default settings sounds "weird" yet overall they meet my needs. I can hear well in Call of Duty and they are relatively comfortable and easily fit my big head and fit around my ears. They are also wireless and match my Corsair gaming keyboard (for what that's worth). I appreciate the input yet I'll likely stick with these unless they betray me down the road.
Thanks.

These the game ones that are the same as the pc37x? Mic quality would be pretty big for me so that’s why I was leaning towards the g pro x, do you know how the game ones compare in mic quality?

Its a tight fit but all the other options dwarf the capsule so much they fall out. But this one I can confirm fits but very snuggly.
I just bought the Sennheiser PC38X. They have really good reviews; plus they're open back which can be hard to come by.
Beyer DT 1990 might be worth a try. No in line mic but you could add something like this https://www.amazon.com/NewFantasia-Compatible-Pioneer-HDJ-2000-Headphone/dp/B07NXY5H9L/ (or a wireless mod mic).

If you absolutely want a boom mic, Sennheiser PC38x is the best choice out there imho.
I think you have to sign up for drops email list or something like that to even order them but I’m pretty sure when I signed up for it they sent me a discount code. Maybe 10% can’t remember but check that. I’m us not Canada but very rural and had them in 3 days so their shippings really quick. Also got a big melon and they fit pretty well. Get these to keep your mic from picking up you breathing or any slight noises.
for sure! when it comes to cables, you don't need to spend too much, just want the right length for cable management, and solid connections.
I orderd the Apple dongle and this adapter https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073XKK9MZ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
in the description it says "The adapter CANNOT send HDMI , VGA or other audio & video signal.)" However they the same setup worked on my laptop. Could the issue be the adapter or do all adapters have this description?
I ordered this one, I just wanted to check if it works or not because there is USB c and USB lightning
I just got an adapter that changed the headset plugs to USB. Mic improved a lot afterwards. This is the exact adapter I got and it works a lot better.

I ordered this arctis 1 xbox headst and it's supposed to work on PC without issues can anyone tell me if this is a good headset?
I can personally recommend this one: HyperX Cloud Stinger Core - Wireless Gaming Headset, for PC, 7.1 Surround Sound, Noise Cancelling Microphone, Lightweight https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08634653D/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_M3CFN5SVCB3TPYSE0MGY?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 It's wireless, reliable, sounds decent, built-in boom mic, around $80. I also find it to be very comfortable & I have a big head with dumbo ears. Worth a look in my humble opinion.
As far as I know, the PS4 controller is very weak for powering headphones.
You could use something like this I guess as a cheap solution and plug it into your PS4 controller.
I'd go Pro, but if buying used, make sure they're without fault and that the guy selling them has receipt+warranty. Look up some reviews though just to make sure that you need all the features!
Here's the earpads if you feel like I did: Geekria Comfort Velour Replacement Ear Pads for Sony: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics
Hi folks, not sure if this is allowed here or the right place to do it, but last year I bought this V-Moda mic on Amazon for my Sony wh-1000xm2, not realizing they didn't work with them (the mic does work with the XM3 and 4 though, fml).
Anyway, I have this mic sitting around that I don't use. I'd be happy to ship it to anyone who wants it for the cost of shipping. I'm in the US btw. If you want proof of the product I can provide it later today.
These are amazing for the price. I never knew open back headphones would make such a difference in directional sound. Paired them with a V-Moda boom pro mic. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ENMK1DW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_2YK5ZC640CN7TK2D6HRQ?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Yeah no problem. I’m from the US but this is the extractor that I’m using. I’m certain you can find something similar in the EU.
Basically you’ll have an hdmi cable coming out of the back of the XSX into the extractor and another hdmi cable to the monitor. You can then have an optical cable from the extractor going into the arctis pro DAC to get your audio quality back to where it was intended.
I believe VRR is tied to hdmi 2.1 so I’m almost certain you will lose it- I can’t enable mine at 1080p either.
For anyone looking for these today, they are still available on Amazon. I couldn’t find them anywhere else.

All these splitter tend to separate the audio and mic. :( I need them kept together.
This is what I need (I think), but with 2 male and 1 female plug.
I think I found what I need.
Most of these tend to split/seperate the mic and audio, and thats what I DON'T WANT.
This adapter will allow you to use the vmoda boom pro with the Sennheiser 5 series twist lock port:
You can also use this third party boom mic:

If you are unsure about the new Astro mix amp, this is the one I use. I use dual audio with my PC and Xbox I’m sure it will work with PS5 as well. I had the same issue as you where my Astro mix amp broke and I’ve had the sound blaster ever since. (About 3 years) I’ve never had any issues at all.

That's super helpful. Thanks for all of the advice. My motherboard is this one, so I don't think it supports Aptx since it doesn't seem to mention it anywhere. For PC Scenario 2 that you've mentioned, am I better off buying those two MPow adapters rather than the Avantree kit because they support microphone as well? Having to only have one device attached to my headphones that can receive sound and transmit voice seems ideal, so that I wouldn't need to charge and buy an additional wireless Modmic.
Also, since the one connected to my PC will be connected there pretty much all the time, is there an alternative receiver/transmitter I should buy where I wouldn't need to unplug and charge that I could just leave plugged into a USB slot?

Recommendation between MH-751 and MH-752? Is it worth the extra money? It didn't seem like it, from my research.
Also looks like https://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-PG1-Premium-Gaming-Headset/dp/B00OTG9RJQ/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=mh751&qid=1606718524&sr=8-3 Just went on sale... any thoughts?
Thanks for sharing. I think perhaps it doesn't need to be "open back" per se, I just need to be to hear my own voice reasonably well. Any thoughts on this? (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B081PP4CB6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) It comes with an option to use velour ear cups instead of leatherette; I can't seem to find many other like this though.

If I pair the MH751 with this sir, https://www.amazon.com/FX-Audio-Digital-Decoder-Headphone-Amplifier/dp/B07TW2JQNN
Will it be okay?
I ended up getting this.
I'm in Canada so I don't know if there's an equivalent for US.
Did you ever fix this issue? I also have static on my MH751 mic and I decided to order this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RS11M1T/ref=emc_b_5_t?th=1 so that I wouldn't have to use the splitter which I believe may be causing all these mic static issues. The mic works perfectly on my Xbox because it doesn't need the splitter.
The pc 37x splits out the mic and headphone audios so you need to buy a splitter to combine the two signals back together again. Should be around $5-10 on amazon. Weight wise they’re both pretty light imo
I'm ordering a USB A to C adapter to see if maybe the USB-C port on the front will like the wireless dongle better. I'll update here once I receive it and try it out.

All games are coded so that basic stereo headsets will let you hear all the directionality you need. Footsteps behind you to the left? Check. In front and above? Check.
The 7.1 stuff just doesn't translate well to stereo headsets. Extra software is needed, often delays input, and it's just a rendering gimmick that doesn't give you any edge. Because again, stereo headsets let you hear directionality.
I play with these and they are wonderful: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B084GFGMYT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Check out Corsair HS75 XB Wireless Gaming

It is a little over the price you put but I've heard good things. If you do get it, let me know what you think.
If you go for Corsair Virtuoso RGB make sure it's NOT THE SE VERSION.

A friend owns the Corsair HS70 Pro and I can attest to the incredible mic quality he has. Link: https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Wireless-Gaming-Headset-Cream/dp/B07XF8X8VB/ref=sr_1_6?dchild=1&keywords=Corsair+HS+wireless&qid=1604906720&sr=8-6
HyperX Cloud II Wireless is on the way soon too, but I'm also looking at the Audeze Penrose, waiting for reviews.
I'm also somewhat curious about these - they're sold specifically for XBOX but work for PC as well: Corsair HS75 XB Wireless Gaming
Personally, I'll never get another Logitech product again. Just too many issues with them over the years.
Logitech g pros are great sound and feel pretty good on the head and can be had for close to your price range depending on where you buy. Here’s an amazon link for reference: Logitech G 981-000817 3.5mm Jack Noise Control Wired Over-Ear Headphones Without Mic, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PDFBJZD/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_pscNFb0X66KWV
Cable Boom Microphone <- try searching this on Amazon. Basically budget boompro, that has hd599 compatible version. bit worse in term of quality but way cheaper than modmic if you cant afford modmic.
I’ve looked into the Philips SHP9500 and pairing it with the Vmoda boom mic or the antlion mod mic. Not sure which is better but I’m leaning towards the boom mic because it’s less wire?
I’ve seen the shp9500 on amazon for about $80 bucks and another amazon prime listing for $63 bucks. Kinda confused if there’s a difference
Here are the links
1) this one is $80 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ENMK1DW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_4VXJAbPZAKSM
2) this one is $69.99 as of the time I posted it https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N3LM3J5/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_LZXJAbYSGXACE
Would you guys suggest pairing these headphones plus the boom mic to the Astro A40 mix amp? I will be using it on the Xbox one mostly
Oh, Reeally?? And a AMP would fix this and show my Headset?
