Her book comes out in September. I imagine we'll be seeing a lot more of Denhollander then :)

Book available for pre-order here!
Her book, What Is a Girl Worth?, is a really good read.
Highly recommend.
I was curious about that one too. I've looked around and the closest thing I could find is that it is a release into endo. I'm not sure if that is correct or if the move is even banned. I found a site that only had 2 banned uneven bar moves, the Korbut, (the first uneven bar move in the video) and one called the "Grantcharova." You can read about it here;
https://sites.google.com/site/wagfirsts/uneven-bars-part-1#banned
I'm going to agree with you. It was probably a one-armed planche. Like this. I've seen it more often in acro gymnastics than in artistic, but every once in a while someone will do it on beam
Edit: on how to do it -I've never done it myself, but the people I know who have done it center their hand under their body bend their arm at a right or less angle and plant their elbow in their side/by the hip. Other than that I believe it is a lot of back strength. Hope this helps somewhat.
Hell yeah I’m the same Korean commentators are so unprofessional they have no idea what they’re talking about and they act as if Korean athletes are their neighbor kids or relatives. With ExpressVPN and an apple prepaid card I don’t have to suffer through the entire “yes my proud [name]! You go boiiii yasssss!” And they don’t give a shit about all the other amazing athletes. So juvenile.
In the EU as well, here's how I read it. With uBlock Origin block the layover element that says "yada yada, not avaliable in EU" (right click, create selective filter) and the right click on the article again since it's not scrollable and select "show source code". You can basically scroll through the code and look for when the article starts, it's a pain to read but better than nothing.
Alternatively, TunnelBear is a VPN that gives out 500 free GB/month, so that would work as well.
There are probably more than zero countries who'll have every adult done by August anyway, even without any prioritisation. Israel will at this rate. I'm in the UK and am in my 30s with no underlying conditions, no reason for prioritisation. The calculator below tells me I should receive my first dose between 14/05/21 and 03/07/21.
https://www.omnicalculator.com/health/vaccine-queue-uk
Much as our government have handled this incredibly poorly, I also don't find that estimate implausible either: it is getting done very quickly and the proportion of people opting out is likely to get higher as they move down through the risk groups.
The vaccination issue leaves the under 18s in a bit of a pickle though. None of them are licenced yet for anyone in that age range are they?
I definitely know that this VPN works just fine. I've checked also others, like ExpressVPN, NordVPN, but they seem a bit more expensive. They have higher monthly payments. Plus they have:
I meant psychologist. Here's an article about Simone and Laurie having seen a sports psychologist and that being an invaluable aspect of their success. That same psychologist previously worked with the men's team.
A lot of sites detect vpns, iplayer is working currently with NordVPN (on my computer), but things change! The Channel 4 equivalent doesn’t work with this VPN, nor does Netflix, but Amazon prime streaming is fine.
It may be the Mac OS, I’ve read that (for whatever dumb reason), a Windows OS is needed - I have a MacBook too but we use my partner’s laptop. The VPN we use is ProtonVPN, which I love tbh, you can only stream on the paid tier, but it’s inexpensive and I’ve found it works well for me. I’m sure there’s no single one that suits everybody, though; don’t intend to sound like I’m shilling, lol.
Oh, interesting! I'm using my MacBook Pro to try to stream Peacock and I get a message saying I can't use it with a VPN (I've tried VyprVPN, which I have a paid version for, and the free version of Windscribe). For both VPN services I've tried a bunch of different US cities with no luck 😭
Which VPN has worked for you?
I live in the midwest and watch west coast teams. What I would try is to sign up for a free trial of a VPN (Nord, ExpressVPN, etc) and then connect to a city where the meet would be shown. If you open the link again from "there", it should work. A lot of times, links don't show anything until the time the meet is scheduled to begin.
OP, have you seen her 2nd book? A covid comic book? If you click "look inside" and switch to the kindle version you can actually see some of it. The depiction of Chinese people reminds me of the old racist cartoons:

Her mom actually wrote a book about it: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009KDEORI/
I haven't read it, but I believe it can shed some light on where she was coming from.
My first guess would be that the parents could have been heavily pushed by the coach. With what we know about Geddert now, all my bad suspicions go to him first.
I only saw this a month later looking for something else in my post history, but I'm going to reply anyway.
I was on the gymternet in 2007 because I'm old.
In 2007, He Kexin was competing in domestic meets with a 1994 birthdate and people on message boards were saying what a shame it was she was too young for Beijing because her bars were exquisite. I made a very off handed joke on a message board that "they should get her a new passport".
Anyway, she shows up to the Olympics the following year with a brand new passport saying she was born in 1992 and those articles had been rewritten but archives showed the old versions. They were then pulled offline completely when western media found them during the Olympics.
Here's some receipts: https://www.huffpost.com/entry/scandal-of-the-ages-docum_b_118842
I have heard something similar happened with Yang Yilin, but I don't remember with her, I only remember He Kexin because some of my old Gymternet friends and I have had a running joke for the last 10 years that I gave the Chinese federation the idea to get her a new passport because one of them pulled that post from my post history during the Olympics.
Also relevant: China has a history of age falsification, including losing their 2000 team medal because of it.
I have absolutely no ill will towards the gymnasts themselves, just to make that clear. They are talented and worked very hard, and any decision to bend the rules would have been made by the federation. I genuinely appreciate He Kexin's gymnastics.
But to this day, I am convinced He Kexin was 14 in Beijing and I will die on that hill.
A VPN is basically a way to make your device "pretend" it's browsing from a different country. You can't watch the streams cause you're not currently in Australia, but with a VPN you could! There's a couple good ones out there, Hola is a free example (unsure how good it is, it was alright when I used it before), NordVPN is a paid version which works really well.
Also, again depending on where you are, the FIG YouTube channel uploads full competitions but I think some of them are restricted to countries where the national broadcaster does not have rights to show it. I can't watch them here in Ireland for example cause our national broadcaster RTE has bought right to show them (not that they do, but that's a rant for a different day!).
Good luck!! :)
> The problem/ reason why they're not a skill in the cop is probably because they're much more likely to be cheated than a traditional arabian (ie start flipping before the twist is complete, making it really a half-in).
It is in fact in the Men's code under the Arabian category - the normal is worth a B, and the double is worth a D (called the Deferr). It is rumored that Deferr also submitted a full in / full out for evaluation (can't remember which) with that entry, but never competed it.
Here's a video of Eddie Penev (former Stanford gymnast) training the half turn double back full out (Deferr with full twist). It looks more like a barani in, full out (which Penev calls it), but depending on interpretation, could get credited as half turn full out (similar to people "cheating" the arabian double layout who still get credited for the arabian category). In either case, it's ridiculous. In the comments, Marian Dragulescu mentions that Zapata has also done the skill: https://www.instagram.com/p/8RgQ4EFQPU/
She's had some problems with these wisdom teeth. She had to miss the VMAs because of them. Gaby must be having some food cravings since the wisdom teeth removal because she's been posting pics of food on her twitter: https://twitter.com/gabrielledoug
She did go to Wizard World Austin before the wisdom teeth removal though.
Funny you say that because, on a TikTok Jade made, Riley is her "lover" lol.
https://www.tiktok.com/@jadeacarey/video/6798911379832081669
It's more aimed at kids (& you'll need a VPN) but there's "Gym Stars" on iplayer:
Not sure if you can access iPlayer but you can see Jade's routine with the BBC commentary in the video here at around 59 minutes in: https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m000ybtf/olympics-day-2-red-button-08001200
It also covers some of the other bits of qualifications before and after that point.
Good catch on that. I would have blindly believed that (except for the bit where the video maker tries to claim that arabians come from both a front and back giant...).
Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the arabian dismounts 6.407 & 6.507? Those aren't being touched at all in this proposal.
Nastia's dismount in '08 was a double front half-out, which is currently a D (for those unaware, both the double front and double front half are 6.408; they've been valued the same because the half out gives the benefit of a spotted-landing).
The proposal specifically calls out this as a change to 6.408 by breaking it down into the double front (6.408) and the double front half (the new 6.508). It then moves the old 6.508 (a piked half) into the F/G category and renames it 6.608.
Edit: it's really strange they got this wrong considering their Nastia video gets it right & doesn't call her dismount an arabian.
For anyone who needs a VPN: ProtonVPN has a free plan that includes Japanese servers, and it's super easy to set up. It's also reliable and won't sell your data - they're the same people as ProtonMail.
To increase flexibility, I recommend the book Stretching by Bob Anderson and Jean Anderson. It's a classic - they just released a 40th anniversary edition - and the illustrations and instructions are really clear. Here's the link to the new edition, but any edition would be good: https://www.amazon.com/Stretching-40th-Anniversary-Bob-Anderson/dp/0936070846/ref=asc\_df\_0936070846/
I use ExpressVPN, which works with Netflix, wasn't working on IPlayer yesterday for some reason, but it has in the past.
I am Canadian, so I can use CBC, but I like to have the option of the BBC coverage, if I find the commentary on CBC kind of blah...I think some of the CBC streams don't have commentary actually.
Don't buy a "proper" ribbon for a 4 year old. The ribbon will be too long for them and the stick is probably also too long for them to handle properly. Most ribbon handling involves fine motor control (think of using a whisk) and small children just don't have that ability. So something like this would be fine. "Amazon.com: Dazzler Ribbon --One Individual Ribbon: Toys & Games" https://www.amazon.com/Dazzler-Ribbon-One-Individual/dp/B00009IM7V
It sounds like you, your mom, and your family have been through a lot. My heart goes out to you.
From what I've read, having one stable parent can make a world of difference, and it sounds like your dad was able to provide that for you.
My own mother... she's pushing 70 and is only "better" now because she's been on anti-depressants for the last 5-6 years. She doesn't lash out and yell at me anymore, but I also don't live near her. She's still mean and critical, and completely unwilling to understand what she did or how it was hurtful. But like you, I see that she does have a good heart at her core -- she can be selfless and giving and kind, but that core rarely comes out. But that core gets hidden away by the monster that is her BPD because she refuses to seek treatment or acknowledge it. I know she is not NPD because she does have this goodness within her.
Since your mother is borderline, you may have read Understanding the Borderline Mother, but if not, it's well worth a read (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BGMZ9CA/). It presents different archetypes of borderline mothers. My mother is the "Witch" archetype (screaming, yelling, lashing out). It doesn't sound like your mother would be a witch, but is perhaps a different subtype (https://outofthefog.website/personality-disorders-1/borderline-mother-types).
I find it empowering to consider myself a victim. In reading Pete Walker's book, I am struck that a book that has sold thousands of copies can so precisely describe my experience and responses. It makes me feel normal, and it gives me hope I can overcome it.
If you read about Maggie Haney and feel a rush of negative energy coursing through you that the way she talks and treats people sounds like your parent/coach/boss/ex, I want you to know that you are not alone and you don't have to feel the way you feel.
A random person on the Internet can't diagnose you and or your abuser, but I can tell you that you are not alone in going through what you've gone through, and I encourage you to read about Complex PTSD (CPTSD) and see if the symptoms sound like you: anxiety, depression, eating disorders, workaholicness/constantly busy, substance abuse -- experiencing a combination of several of these things can be the result of being close to someone with a personality disorder, and they are not your fault. Despite what the voice in your head says, you are not intrinsically broken, and recovery is possible. It doesn't matter if they never hit you or sexually assaulted you. Verbal abuse is abuse, as is neglect, disdain, and disinterest.
There are some good books on this (Pete Walker's Complex PTSD Surviving to Thriving), blog posts (Pete Walker's blog has most of his book content), as well as support subreddits ( /r/CPTSD, /r/raisedbyborderlines, /r/raisedbynarcissists). EMDR therapy is also so, so helpful for overcoming this kind of experience.

Here's Ariella's book. I haven't read it though.
Jordyn's mom wrote a book
I've never read it but I'm sure it would be fascinating to read an updated version from her knowing what we know now about geddert (and the "doctor")
It doesn't appear Jordyn or Kyla have written a book. You can look at the book below:

The Fab Five: Jordyn Wieber, Gabby Douglas and the U.S. Women’s Gymnastics Team
It has the biographies of Jordyn, Kyla and the Fab Five leading up to the Olympics.
I read a book called The End of the Perfect 10 by Dvora Meyers and I found it to be super informational in terms of how the scoring system switched from the 10.0 to the open ended system. It also talks about how the United States became a gymnastics powerhouse and goes into the details about that. It was published in 2016 so it’s fairly recent. Hope this helps :)
Here’s a link to the book on Amazon The End of the Perfect 10
FYI, I found this book was released today and is available on Amazon.
Pricey, but I'm sure I'll buy it and give it a read.
From the FIG channel
If you need a proxy server I recommen Zenmate or ProxMate. I've been using Proxmate and haven't had any issues thus far.
get an account with StrongVPN and take a week off work, watch the whole thing front-to-back on the BBC website! $55 for a years access, although you might want just a months account. Also, chase down the windows version of get_iplayer and you can download all the gymnastics to keep!!
This is definitely worth checking out, if you're interested, and want to learn. It's a tome - wealth of knowledge here.
