HBO has a "Pay 2" sub-run agreement with Walt Disney Pictures that was made before Disney stopped licensing their films out. Apparently Old Dogs will hit Disney+ on August 1, 2022"due to existing agreements."
This doesn't necessarily mean HBO Max will keep this particular movie until 2022 as it could be rotated to another service.
Also Disney+ & Epix are sharing The Avengers and Captain America: The First Avenger since those films were originally released and distributed by Paramount Pictures prior to 2013 and Epix is the current home for Paramount movies.
I get it everyday regardless of what time or what I'm watching.
Have had hbomax for a week now and if this shit continues, ill cancel my sub.
Trying to watching Mortal Kombat the other night was unbearable. Buffered maybe 25ish times throughout the movie. Tried all the stuff HBOMax said, reset the blah blah, close all apps. Nothing.
So they've actually filtered out the Latin America accounts and block the VPN access from them. NordVPN says they are aware of the issue and they're working on it, but if it's a profile issue like you said I don't think they'll be able to do anything. I guess I'll have to use the American account I have too.
I am having the same issue, I’m using ExpressVPN DNS and after years of using HBO Now then HBO Max now they stepped up their game and blocked me and all I get is “Not available in service area”. Seems like HBO ignored all of the connectivity issues and focused on security and dns blocking instead. Ugh!
> Shows just freeze mid-stream (roughly every 10-20 minutes), then the app crashes and I land back on the Roku home screen
That sucks.
I have a stand alone Roku that works really well.
Or, consider AppleTV?
I have this one, regularly goes on sale for about $70
I still have general Problems with my Setup since I am located in germany and have had a HBO Nordic (Denmark) account. I used NordVPN and it worked very well (only used VPN from time to time cause within the EU they let you use it without a VPN as well).
But since they moved to HBO MAX and I downloaded the new app I have had problems. It does not seem to work through NordVPN for me.
As of this morning it suddenly works WITHOUT a VPN connection only (iphone app).
Weird.
Colombia here, same issue. NordVPN. I would not expect for HBO to blacklist servers, VPNs are a well known way to access content abroad and Netflix for instance does not ban them. Also, frontend wise they should notify about it ( server validations should return a proper error message). With these things in mind, I would suppose it is a bug related to VPN users
Trying to access my Brazilian subscription and it's not working with:
Fair enough. Time to cancel my subscription. Unless someone have another way to make it work...
Downloader is still on the app store. If you’re gonna sideload, download .239 because it’s more stable before they ruined it in June.
The PlayStation app is temperamental as hell from my experience. I'm in the UK and use ExpressVPN and the UI is so slow to respond even trying to navigate down a row or two and then I also have the video loading screen on loop as well quite a bit. I find playing something else first (trailers are great for this) seems to push the main movie/episode to work perfectly immediately. Works fine on my Phone, iPad and laptop, only the PlayStation app (for some reason, it doesn't work at all on my Xbox - says I'm out of service area despite using the same setup).
I'm seeing two Amazon listings for the show; one for HBO Max where it says it's leaving in 48 hours and another for purchasing.
Also, I'm pretty sure Raised by Wolves has been available for purchase for a while now. I remember seeing the first season on iTunes late last year or early this year.
Okay, I think what you can do is buy a PS3, and get one of these cables:
https://www.amazon.com/Audio-Video-Cable-Sony-PlayStation/dp/B011IORKSQ
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.connectatic.catbubble
The classic best choice for casual puzzle game lovers, with hundreds of levels, enjoy the decompression and relaxation experience, come download and play.
It's very strange, I changed browsers to Chrome (normally I do this with Firefox). And when I go to the HBO Max website without signing in, but with the NordVPN in Portugal, I do get the Portuguese selection, everything's in Portugese. But as soon as I try to sign in, it's back to thinking that I'm Spanish with Spanish stuff.
I think when you use an european HBO Max account as far as you “travel” to Europe you will have access to your country catalog, and not the catalog of that country. If you use NordVPN without sign in into your HBO Max account, what do you see?
well the main thing was getting rid of Richard Plepler.
but across the board, AT&T got involved in creative decisions that they had no experience in. they wanted quantity at the expense of quality to compete with netflix.
i havent read this yet but it goes into greater detail:
https://www.amazon.com/Tinderbox-HBOs-Ruthless-Pursuit-Frontiers/dp/1250624010
Ellie, no idea if you got it working yet, but... I just discovered that when I connect to Moldova via a VPN (NordVPN), I get Romanian subtitles and/or audio. I even get Romanian films and series. Could even be that the Moldovan HBO Max is Just the Romanian one seeing as it has a 'Popular in Romania' section and the 'Local Productions' link in the menu leads to a page that says 'Made in Romania'.
Weirdly enough, I just can not seem to be able to log in to the Romanian servers to test what would happen. Moldova is not a EU/EEC country, which explains why I can get their local version with my Dutch account. When I try the countries that ARE part of the EU, I get the Dutch version.
I had exactly the same issue using Nord from the UK and never found a solution. Gave ExpressVPN a go and it worked well from the start. Hopefully you're not tied into a year with Nord, though it might be fixable in the settings by experimenting with different protocols
This happened to me and I fixed it. Brazilian account, trying to log in to US HBO Max via NordVPN, couldn't get it to work. Realized they probably blacklisted the most popular servers. Chose one of the smaller cities (St. Louis) that probably don't get used. Worked like a charm!
They’re not. But neither is HBO Max/Hulu. I personally use ExpressVPN which is $12.95 per month, or you can get a discount if you pay annually. Used it for years, and apart from a few minor issues on very rare occasions, it has been solid as a rock.
Use a VPN to route you to a different CDN server that might be more stable and provide a consistent 1080p/2160p stream. Your ISP brings you to a dedicated CDN based on ISP which is more likely to get more traffic but if you use VPN then you will go through a less loaded CDN.
Try it. I use ProtonVPN with zero issues.
I also had problems with VPN and HBO Max at first. But for me, the issue appear when I use my local HBO account (Sweden) and change the VPN to US. I can at least load the content, even though it's really slow, but I can't play anything, I only get an error message, saying that my region aren't supported. I have tried with both WeVPN and NordVPN, and get the same result.
But if I use an account registered in the US and then change the VPN to US, I get it to work without issues. So it seems that HBO can detect that my account is from another country, and blocks me, even if I use a VPN for US. I just assumed that it would work like Netflix, where you can use your local account registered in your local country, and then use a VPN to change the library.
But the strange thing is that other people seems to get it to work with their local account and with a VPN for US, so I don't know why it does not work for me. It's too bad, though, because my country have a cheaper price plan for HBO, so I would have much rather used my local account, to save money.
Plus I would I have loved to have an easy way to switch countries, because the library can vary some in the US and Sweden. But it seems that it don't work like Netflix for me, where you can pay for one subscription, and then change library back and forth. The only way I can access both regions is to have two separate subscriptions for both accounts, but it just don't worth that. I don't get how other people get it to work, though.
HBO max content is only available on HBO Max app.
No exceptions.

HBO content in Amazon Channels is only HBO content. You have to use the Max app for Max content. You should be able to sign into the HBO max app with your Amazon credentials.
SIMKL, Amazon Prime, and HBO Max each has the episodes in a different order. The first episode is "On Leather Wings" only on Amazon Prime. Incidentally, that's the first episode I remember watching when it first aired on TV.
This is the 3rd or 4th gen HBO streaming service depending on if you count old school on demand. Each one has had the same exact issue. Who gives a fuck what it looks like as long as it plays.
HBO max is a flashy version of HBO go and HBO now both of witch had the exact same connection issues on HBO'S END. HBO tells people to go to fast.com or something to check that you meet the MBS to stream. My internet is 5x faster then what they require and EVERY TIME I load it up on my computer it boots me out of the home screen saying it is having connection issues. EVERY! FUCKING! TIME! I'm able to watch one maybe 2 episodes of a show then as it tries to load the next episode it just sits there as if it cant connect. Internet is working just fine. NETFLIX FIGURED THIS OUT ALMOST 20 YEARS AGO YOU POS COMPANY MAKE A FUCKING PHONE CALL1
Google "HBO max connection issues" and you get 2+ full pages of "how to fix" pages to go to. If google full of trouble shooting how to fix connection issues you have a problem. Only way to fix the problem is PEOPLE cancel there fucking subs. WHO GIVES A FUCK IF YOU WANT TO WATCH SOUTH PARK OR SOME NEW MOVIE, IF YOU WANT THEM TO CHANGE THEN CANCLE YOUR SUB AND HIT THEM WHER IT HURTS BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO REASON TO CHANGE TILL THEY FEEL IT AT THE BOTTOME LINE.
Don't waist your time on this crap service its there 3rd attempt at a stream app and its only purpose was to allow everyone to watch the shitty last season of Game of Thrones.
As I finish this my episode just ended and is now sitting here "trying" to load the next one. 5mbs min to stream i have 60mbs so go fuck our self you line sacks of shit HBO
I figured this might be the issue because when the buffering would happen, I opened up a browser and went to fast.com to check my internet connection, and the second it loaded, the stream would start again immediately. Every time I tried to "catch" the internet being slow or pausing, I would not be able to do so because the video would start again. It was almost like a joke.
They'll block the IPs of some VPNs. Pick a reliable one like NordVPN (see their HBO compatibility here).
If you have any connectivity problems, contact their support and they'll help you switch IP/server.
Yeah I use NordVPN and it works a charm. You can see their compatibility info on their site.
Yeah, I use NordVPN and it works a charm. You can see their compatibility info here: a compatible server.

Could be getting throttled because service provider wants money from HBO. Some of them were doing that to Netflix a few years ago. Netflix even started a website so people could check to see if they were being throttled.
I’ve bookmarked this but FYI it’s very similar to https://flickmetrix.com/.
Is there any way to sort by highest rated? I’m on my phone so not sure if I was seeing the full possibilities within the site.
Yeah I thought about looking at replacing my Roku Ultras they have a new Model that has better wifi coverage and will support Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, and Bluetooth. As far as HBO Max goes I just add it to my YouTube TV subscription plus got a extra $4 bucks off doing that instead of paying HBO directly. But yeah I might still look at getting one.
New Ultra
Netflixparty works with HBO Max the PC:

Don't think there's anything like this for TV yet, but it would be a cool feature to add.
but I think it will actually not work if hbo max is not already in your country because I tried the same thing before it was in Finland by connecting my NordVPN to the US but tha did’t work then either, at least not for me…🤷🏻♂️
Can you let me know how? I also have NordVPN but when I connect to the danish server (as I used to with HBO Nordic ) and then start the app on my iphone it tells me "Cant verify your subscription". However I did not enter any credentials yet. When I tap OK the error comes back. Force quitting the app or reinstalling wont work either.
Any tips you might have?
I don’t know if could be related but in my case, I have two TVs, one with ExpressVPN and another without it; if I start a show without a VPN (eg, Rick and Morty) and then go to the other room and try to play it with VPN it fails, it shows me everything but when I try to play it says either that “Something has gone wrong” or that “can’t find that title”, so if you had previously started GoT without the VPN I would try with a new show and see if that works.
Yeah, I’ve only found one country that it works with the way I said. But because it’s so frustrating and annoying to get access to it, it’s only worth it if there’s something I REALLY want to watch. And if it would work on my streaming device too, that would be great. Who knows, maybe the techs over at ExpressVPN will be able to work around it and we’ll be able to access LATAM easily. I mean, they did a fantastic job with Netflix until the recent VPN crackdown. Only time will tell.
UPDATE: It seems to work on some random US servers now on ExpressVPN, on my Fire Stick 4K. I was able to go past the profile screen issue and tested playback and etc. It's working perfectly fine for now! Let's see how long this will last!
I do, it works great. I've got NordVPN and use it on the laptop but I also have a foxtelNOW box that I have downloaded Nord onto and then I grabbed the HBO app .apk file off the net and installed it on the box. The only downside is that you have to download and instal every time they update the app but it's worth it.
You can get around the US credit card issue by signing up to US Unlocked (?aff_id=Wa4q8kYpP3. I purchased a 6 month subscription to save on fees from the US unlocked platform.
It’s completely normal for VPNs to get detected and blocked by streaming services. It’s not exactly completely legal to use them.. Try another server in the same country and see if that works. I personally use PrivateVPN and it works great.
There was a children's book called Little Brute Family in which a family of 'brutes' who were never happy, tried to fly wooden kites, ate stick & stone soup were 'uplifted' from their misery when the littlest brute found a good feeling in the forest. The family started smiling, cooking tasty food and generally found more 'success' in the pleasures of living.
I had always looked fondly on this book, but I now see it as more sinister.

Did anybody fix this?
I'm using ExpressVPN outside of the US.
It still doesn't work for me.
It works on my phone - but only because I didn't log out. I would like to try it, but I'm afraid I will be unable to log back in.
Ok so your post makes more sense now after considering your additional responses below. You have a smart TV that doesn't offer an HBO Max app.
So you purchase an HBO subscription through Amazon and/or Hulu but you're bummed that you can't see all the other content.
And the only way you could watch the extra content was by downloading the HBO Max app on your phone and linking it to your other subscriptions.
This isn't really HBO's fault there. You just don't have a device that supports the app. Literally take $30 and buy this and you'll be all set.
The hbo max interface on roku, subscribed directly from hbo, is behind the times already. I wouldn't expect getting the channel via roku to be better.
Roku makes you use their roku channels app
for their subscriptions IME, I'd check today's reviews in the play store.
Once installed, the premium channels are via the center icon on the bottom navigation bar
You can also use easy fire tools If you're on a Android smartphone and you don't want to install any additional apps on the fire Stick, it worked a dream for me.
Warner Archive put it out last month. So, it seems likely that HBO Max will be getting it pretty soon.
Josie and the Pussycats went the opposite direction; HBO Max got first dibs on the new restorations and now the Warner Archive will be putting them out this month.
Yeah it’s a bit complicated, but I don’t know any other ways unless you have an american friend or you want to buy expensive gift cards. Well there is a subreddit called redditbaynew that sells accounts.
If you go for paypal+hulu option You need one credit card you don’t already use with a PayPal account. You can get this for free by signing up to a service like Revolut. When you have that you can create an american American PayPal account. You need to use a VPN when doing this. You also need to find a random US address and phone number. You should look at where you have to pay for VAT in the US before picking your address. When signing up for Hulu, you just pick the options you want and pay with PayPal. I like Hulu so I went for no ads with Disney+, ESPN+ and HBO. Your HBO Max login will be the same as the Hulu login.
VPN I use ExpressVPN for the american streaming services. I have not run into any problems so far. It allows me to use the apps on my smart tv and my Apple TV (chromecast does not work). Disney+, Netflix, HBO Max, Hulu, Prime Video, Showtime and Epix all work on my Apple Tv. For Starz, CBS All Access and DC Universe, I have to use Airplay. ExpressVPN’s cheapest option (15 months) is still expensive. I share VPN and streaming services with friends and family bringing my costs down to around $15. We’re going to continue this until HBO Max, Disney+ and Hulu arrives in our country. Probably 2021 or 2022. Hopefully Peacock and CBS All Access also arrives.
Streaming apps To get streaming apps on iPhone/iPad/Apple TV, you need to make an american apple id. To get streaming apps on android you can download something called f-droid, and find something called aurora store. In aurora store you can find the american streaming apps. I also recommend the app reelgood to show where movies and series are available.
Yes it’s complicated, but after a bit of work it works great.
> Using a game control as a remote is weird.
They sell remotes for PS4. [And PS5]

> Why does Hulu call their “hub” HBO Max when it doesn’t include Max content? Painful.
Because you get HBO Max with your Hulu subscription as opposed to Roku and Amazon Channel subscriptions where you pay the same $15 and you don't get access to HBO Max content. Why shouldn't Hulu brag about the fact that their customers get HBO Max and Amazon/Roku customers don't.
