My suggestion : Reid's Distillery in Leslieville. They have cocktail kits ready for home delivery, including free ice. You can get a Negroni kit or a Gin and Tonic set, including everything you'd need for a good night on Netflix Party with your friends. https://reidsdistillery.com/collections/cocktails-delivered
For beer fans, theres too many good options to list, so someone created a website for us : Ontario Beer Delivery Index
I would let your friend have the day to grieve and in a couple days see if he wants to play a game together if you guys both like video games or even watch a movie or show together. You can use https://www.netflixparty.com/ to sync your shows. It sucks and he will probably be grieving for a while. Just be there for him and invite him to do things virtually once in a while. You sound like a good friend.
Not exactly what I was looking for but should work if you both have Netflix (not on your phone).
Or do it like I did it with this girl I liked, get on a cellphone call, choose a movie on Netflix you want to watch and start it on the count to three, worked good enough for us
If you're interested in netflix specifically there seems to be a number of options that specialize in netflix. One such alternative is https://www.netflixparty.com/ (Haven't tried it for myself)
Saving this, but there is also Netflix Party that the creator posted on reddit not too long ago. My SO and I have used it a few times.
I really miss the old Xbox app with the viewing parties.
I get that, but (and this is not specific to Blu Ray/DVD playback) at the end of the day, something like you are proposing is generally going to technically be copyright infringement unless all of your friends legally
The alternative to something like this - to be able to do it legally, would be something akin to Twitch or Amazon's watch party or something like Teleparty:
Maybe write different movies that can be found on Netflix or whatever other streaming service she has access to either on scraps of paper or popsicle sticks and put them in a jar. When she wants to watch a movie she can pick one out and have something to watch and remember you were thinking of her.
As a bonus you can offer to watch the movie with her through something like https://www.netflixparty.com/
Maybe offer to do a baking tutorial with her via video? Giver the recipe in advance and then bake it together? My aunt always did cookies in a jar (all of the dry ingredients measured out into a mason jar) and gifted them to us for the holiday.
NTA for you, INFO for your gf

So, if your gf just got really annoyed about this, I get that. It's a pandemic and everyone's stressed and on edge. But if she does this kind of thing a lot, that's somewhere in the range of AH behavior to red flag behavior.

Also: ww.netflixparty.com my friend. Your technology solution does not sound ideal.
I can't understand that mindset either.
If they want to feel close as a family there's other ways to do it.
Have more phone calls, play Words With Friends together, have a Netflix Party
Aww thank you! This is such a lovely response!! I'm so glad I could help in some small way and you've really brightened my day too 😁 I love all the stinky trolls here in our stinky snark den, it's such a lovely community!
Definitely try a watch along! Loads less pressure to talk all the time and navigate the lag that comes with a lot of the zoom-type programs, my friends and I use Netflix Party chrome extension (https://www.netflixparty.com/) which starts the film at the same time for all participants and has a chat function at the side so you don't even need to talk. It can be a bit buggy though but I do recommend!
I'm currently doing well, keeping myself amused as much as possible! I've been furloughed from work but I'm still being paid so it's not that bad all told! I've got loads of free time though which is why I'm on these threads all the time lollll.
Keep safe bb! ♥️
Now, I guess. I mean, I haven’t yet. But, I have used zoom for work for years and I’m not sure why it wasn’t done much before.
Also, recently learned about “Netflix Party,” too. Gonna give it a go soon.
I get that it's not the same, but there are a couple of Chrome extensions out there that let you watch stuff on Netflix simultaneously with friends.
Scener and Netflix Party
(I'm not vouching for either one, haven't used them, but heard about it on the radio the other day so I figured I'd give it a mention)
My long-distance boyfriend and I have recently been using Netflix Party as a way to watch any Netflix show simultaneously. Once both users have the Netflix Party extension, one user sends the link to the party to the other person. When the party starts, either person can have control of when to start, pause, etc. There is also a chat that you can use to type back and forth to each other while watching. We're currently watching The Flash!
They are extensions for Chrome. There is Netflix Party but I personally use http://showgoers.tv. There are probably more out there that I haven't heard of. The only downside is if you have spotty wifi, like I do, it's harder to watch than usual.
Alrightey, you have a few ways to do this:
I am focusing on the platforms themselves, I dont know if the media you want is actually on them!
1) netflix.. there is a synced watching chrome addin called "netflix party" https://www.netflixparty.com/
2)Youtube / Viemo There is a website to make synced rooms for this content http://sync-video.com/
3) local media file. Assuming all involved parties have the actual media file, be it mp4, mkv whatever, there is a piece of software called "syncplay" that I use to watch TV with my family, it works flawlessly. This one is the solution I use the most, let me know if you want to pursue it, I can give some more tips. http://syncplay.pl/
I'm sorry for your loss.
Keeping in touch and maintaining a friendship with a sibling is the same as with anyone else. Fact is, it does take effort. Even with a good friend who lives nearby it takes effort. You have to deliberately make time to spend together. Do things together. Talk. With a sibling, you have to do the same thing, you can't just rely on the familial relationship to do all the work for you. This is especially true if your sibling doesn't live nearby.
Make an effort to call eachother frequently - even if it's a scheduled thing (call every Saturday afternoon to catchup, even if it's a short call). If both of you enjoy video games, find some online game you can both play together occasionally. If you enjoy DnD, join a campaign together on Roll20. Watch a show or movie you both enjoy using something like Netflix Party. Hell, watch the shows independently and then make an effort to call and discuss the most recent episode after (especially great for shows you're both really into, or ones with a lot of intrigue or twists where you're constantly trying to guess what might happen next).
Point is, it takes work. It's enjoyable work, but it's still work. You'll have to keep at it, have to make an effort every week to do something. But it's absolutely worth it.
Never used it myself but there looks to be a service to let you synchronize netflix playback for viewing parties https://www.netflixparty.com/
As for subscriptions, if someone doesn't already have access to netflix it's pretty easy to get a free trial.
That will makes you guys talk more ^^ I hope you have a good day 💕
For anyone not familiar with Netflix Party, you do unfortunately need a Netflix subscription, and then you can install the Google Chrome extension here: https://www.netflixparty.com/
Netflixparty works with HBO Max the PC:

Don't think there's anything like this for TV yet, but it would be a cool feature to add.
It is not too late to make yourself a hot coco and watch a christmas movie with someone :)
If you're isolating and have netflix then I've found teleparty to be a nice way to watch movies with someone who isn't in your household.
This sounds really nice.
>I don't know what I'll watch but since I know no one will watch with me, I might do classic black and white films.
You could do a Netflix Party with some of your friends!
There's so many things you can do together online. Video call dinner dates, watch a movie or TV together, play games together. You can probably find other things to do too.
Hi,
Similar scenario here. CompSci student (UK) dating a Med student (Malaysia).
Some resources I have collected over the years if you guys want to want to watch something together.
Make time for each other and do try to plan in an advance, be considerate of each other's calendars.
After some time it is definitely going to get a little bit harder, just make sure both of you communicate as much as possible. Get her some flowers/ chocolates delivered once in a while to show her some love. It's much harder to make the other person feel loved there is the distance in between, but the little gestures do go a long way.
Don't wait to tell her you miss her until the next scheduled date/ call.
Talk about the struggles. If neither of you talk about it, it might make the other person feel like it's only affecting them.
It is going to difficult to manage time when it's close to exams, she is most definitely going to be stressed, try to be as considerate and understanding as possible within reason of course. Ask her and try to understand how you can help. Different people work differently, establish the dos and dont's.
Try to find something you can do together virtually. For example, we play warzone together.
Communication is everything. Talk and try to understand one another. Resolve problems together.
Gift Ideas -
Good luck!
I haven't tried it yet,. but if people ar anxious meeting in person due to Axe Murderers or Covid you could try online solutions like
Or discord. Is there a decent norn iron server about that's active? Worth a shot creating if there is a decent amount of people interested in meeting up or doing board games etc.
Still need to try dungeons and dragons properly. And maybe a new exercise buddy to help lose by lockdown belly.
COVID is knocking the crap out of people with respect to mental health, so I wouldn't be too hard on yourself right now: You're doing great to recognize these things about yourself, to have the introspection & self-awareness you do, but unfortunately the (temporary) situation means you can't do a whole lot about them quite yet. You have a least one idea to help with your feeling of isolation (the dog) but you'll wait until the economy improves to take that step. Do what you can in the meantime:
Maybe checkout meetup.com for low-cost/no-cost things going on in your area. You don't have to talk to anyone if you don't want to, but it will get you out of the house/flat.
If you want a meeting with more emotional support, try DBSA online meetings: https://www.dbsalliance.org/support/chapters-and-support-groups/online-support-groups/
If your budget extends to a Netflix subscription, you can do a virtual netflix party (https://www.netflixparty.com/) so a friend or two can join you from wherever they are, even if you can't physically get to each other-- maybe the friend that came and visited you.
See if you can setup a video beer with a friend you'd normally go out for a drink with.
It's not quite the same but it might be good.
Or if video calls are not your thing schedule in a Netflix Party screening with a mate and enjoy a beer
Look after yourself either way. Hope it starts to get better for you soon
What did you do with your brother before the quarantine? Can you replicate that virtually? Here are some possibilities...
There are lots of boardgames which can be played online: Codenames, for example. Get a group together and play while video chatting.
Netflix Party facilitates group viewings of a show or movie on that platform.
Get a quarantine pen pal.
Schedule calls with friends or family in advance so you have something to look forward to and won't keep putting it off.
Here's what the official site says:
" Join over 1,000,000 people and use Netflix Party to link up with friends and host long distance movie nights and TV watch parties today! "
So, yeah. Have fun.
This isn't exactly what you're looking for, but an idea that comes to mind is something like Netflix Party. It's an extension that let's you synchronize what you're watching on Netflix with other people so that everyone can watch it together.
It's purpose is for people who aren't in the same place, but maybe it could be utilized in this situation. You may be able to use the description track while the other people use the normal one.
I have no idea if this would work, but I thought I'd mention it in case it's something that you'd want to try out. I've never used the extension so I'm unsure if it's even accessible.
https://www.netflixparty.com is handy.
I started talking to someone about a month ago and we've been having zoom calls. Talking about music, tv shows, sharing stories and shit like that. It's been fun but also frustrating that we can't actually see each other. Obviously it can't be compared to people in an actual relationship but tbh, in a weird way it's keeping me going and giving me something to look forward to.
yay!! you have to download Netflix Party extension first (which is only available on chrome - which means you can only join the party by watching on a computer)
I'll add you to the group chat where I'll share the link to join the party :D
We've already watched eps 1-2 yesterday so if you wanna join us later you might want to catch up! each ep is half hour long so a couple of us decided to do 2 eps yesterday instead of 1.
Allow me to introduce you to Netflix party
I have to check out metastream, I haven't heard of it and I expect one day I'll wanna watch Disney+ with a friend that lives in mexico.
I’ve actually been working on modifying their extension to make it better. I’ve gotten a code dump herehere of the latest version of their extension.
Because I’ve been looking at all the network communication the app does, I have seen all the data the extension sends to the server. I can safely say they are not sending any personal data or collecting anything nefarious from your system.
Here’s their privacy policy as well: https://www.netflixparty.com/privacy
I find that 20 questions helps a lot when getting to know someone online. Also, u can go on google chrome, download Netflix Party as an extension, and u tell him to do the same, then u could watch the same show/movie on Netflix with a live chat. It’s really cool and I think it’s a cute first date :)
Thanks. Sites like that are definitely great for Couchella or other stuff with friends.
FYI here's an extension that lets you chat with friends while you watch Netflix together
Netflix just made a Chrome extension called “Netflix Party”. The extension enables multiple users to watch the same content at the same time. I’ve been using it a lot with my best friend to watch some shows. I call her up on FaceTime and we mute each other, so that way we can see each other’s reaction and the extension itself has a chart room as well, which is what we use to talk.
Where I’m going with this is that you and your gf can look at what Netflix has to offer and see if you can find a romantic/erotic show or movie that you two could watch together. I’m not entirely sure if Netflix offers any erotic shows/movies, but that’s something you guys can look into. That may open up a new way to turn you both on for phone sex and whatever you guys are looking to do. :)

Netflix Party Extension: (https://www.netflixparty.com)
I assume you’re looking for something like this https://www.netflixparty.com/ ?
unfortunarely highly doubt it will happen directly through google more than likely a third party will do it (if it’s possible)
I’d suggest just start a group chat or call and just say hey at X time let’s start watching X show?
I live 8 miniutes away from my girlfriend, but I haven't seen her in almost 2 months because I went from college in another city to coming home and not being allowed to see her. I'm used to seeing her once a month and when that was taken away it hurt.
No need to put others down because you're in a different situation. It's definitely hard for someone for sees their partner every other day to suddenly not be allowed to see them. Especially if they didn't know their last goodbye was going to be for a lot longer than they expected.
This isn't easy for everyone and we shouldn't be putting others down. We should try to be a community of support for one another while this is going on. Spread your love to each other.
Also as this is new to alot of people, there's an app called Netflix Party where to can watch Netflix at the same time with chat for anyone who's interested. It definitely beats trying to time it over the phone.
Allows people to watch Netflix across platforms synchronously.
Requires the viewer to have Netflix though.
You could get a paid Zoom subscription and then screenshare a film to a group. But you're gonna get into some copyright trouble there, I'm sure. Doesn't stop my boss from wanting to do it though.
2 Hours left to vote!

User submissions are in and the first whenever-I-feel-like-it Neoliberal Movie Club voting is up!
Head over to this link. Upvote the movies you want, downvote the movies you don't.
1) Install Netflix Party (you must have Netflix)
2) Go vote on the movie you want!
3) Come back on 4/3 at 10:00 AM EST to find out who won! Then come back later that day at 7:30 PM EST for the link to the movie/chat. Movie starts promptly at 8 PM.
If you submitted a movie for voting and it's not in the thread, it's because it wasn't on US Netflix.
1 day left to vote!
Hey peeps. Follow up on our movie night. I'm planning this for 8 PM EST this Friday, 4/3/20.
Give me movie suggestions here (has to be on Netflix, and you need a Netflix account). I'll leave this up for the day and then post a contest thread tomorrow where you can vote.
It doesn't have to be related to this sub or anything. It can be a movie you want others to see or just a movie you personally want to watch.
I'll host it on Netflix Party, so please make sure to install it before Friday night: https://www.netflixparty.com/
Also I'll try to do a test run on Thursday where I'll play an episode of The Office or something and we can make sure the chat and stuff is all working.
tl;dr: 4/3/20 @ 8 PM EST. Reply here with your suggestion. Install Netflix Party.
I'm open to changing things around with regard to how we stream, take suggestions, etc. but let's just do this first one and see how it goes.
You have nothing to apologize for - it's a great question! One of the things psychologists have realized is that calling it "social distancing" has given people the wrong idea. It's not that we can't stay socially connected - actually, staying connected to "our people" socially is critical. Instead, it's physical distancing that we need to do. Even if we can't be with people in-person right now, we can still talk to them on the phone or over text or in videochat, and we really really should.
When I was in high school, pre-smart-phones, I spent hours every night on three- or four-way phone calls with friends, late late into the night and early morning hours. I love those memories, and even though we couldn't be with each other physically outside of school hours (we were all too young to drive, and our parents wouldn't have allowed us out late anyway)....we were very much still together. I know phone or videochat can feel awkward at first, and they're not totally the same as being together in person; but technology has come a long way since I was in high school. Use it. Stay in touch with your friends, as best you can. There are great options like NetflixParty that let you watch movies together, or JackBoxGames that let you play games together virtually....there's a time and place for tech, and that time is now!
For more ideas, check out this lovely podcast "The Happiness Lab" with Dr. Laurie Santos (the whole podcast is wonderful; they have a special series on Coronavirus) episode on how to stay in touch socially in a time of "social" distancing.
Answer from gf:
Hi! Actually i got the name wrong, so sorry! Its called Netflix Party. It is a free extension you can add via Chrome Web Store. Basically it synchronizes the movie/series you are watching and it has a chat option! Is only available in laptops or computers but it is very cool (and handy) . Here is the link! https://www.netflixparty.com/
hey, autistic 26 year old here! I've just been texting a few every now and then to check up on how they're doing and feeling- "Hi ____, just checking up on people. Hope you're feeling well and staying safe!" Also, I've been considering trying www.netflixparty.com with some of them. It sounds like it could be fun if you have netflix.

Hahaha, if you'd like, send me a PM! I'm totally down for messaging, video dates and Netflix parties. :)
Edit: Netflix party for those who are interested in watching movies with friends or dates digitally. You can also play board games on digital apps too. It doesn't have to be all boring...
"Saves me from doing it, yay" if the rapport is good.
It's the 21st century. More than a few times.
With COVID-19, suggest video chats, phone calls, more extensive texting, etc. https://www.netflixparty.com/ is getting news for letting people watch a movie at the same time. Remote dating is going to be rough.
Ah, yeah. If your mic picks up ambient noise that wouldn't work.
I installed Kast last night and I can't even get it to stream my audio. Video only. I really miss Rabb.it, too. Just trying to find other solutions.
In the meantime Netflix just announced https://www.netflixparty.com/
Thank you for your help. I was planning on using Netflix Party, which is not officially associated with Netflix, to my knowledge. Does this affect the legality of the watch party?

Hey! So, biking is a great idea, to keep fit and get some fresh air while social isolating. However, as others have said, you're probably best to stay away from your friend. But, check out Netflix Party! I haven't personally used it, but apparently it's a great way to watch movies with your friends online. It's not quite the same as being physically with your friend, but in the current climate it might be the best idea. Hope it helps!
Apparently the OP is referring to this https://www.netflixparty.com/
Never used it myself and I do wonder whether it goes against Netflix's terms of service.
Anyhow, perhaps the OP should contact the makers of this extension, there is after all an email link on their homepage.
Tacking on to this to point out that there is Netflix Party that let's you watch movies with friends and opens a live chat so you can discuss it while watching!
I think it was Netflix party. But I remember having tried 2 different ones. and one of them didn't work too well so I don't remember if this was the one that was bad or the other one.
There's a chrome extension called Netflix Party, that allows you to link up with a Netflix User and watch a movie/show at the same time. It comes with a chat function, but you could also skype so you can actually talk.
Edit: Spelling
>2) Video or audio chat while watching Netflix. You don't have to talk at all, just sync it up and watch something together like you would irl.
You can also sync VLC streams if you enjoy watching media off netflix. That's a little more complex, but you can accommodate for skype latency and use a good microphone to broadcast synced audio. Lets you interrupt movies in real time!
Hi! I'm late to this thread, but I just made a Chrome extension that might help here. It doesn't have chat (yet), but it lets you synchronize the video. Link: https://www.netflixparty.com
If there's interest, I add stuff to it (chat, scheduled programming, etc).
