This may be a huge, huge reach but the part about breaking the vases reminds me of a scene from the book Pretty Things, by Janelle Brown - in it, one of the characters (an heiress / social media influencer) remembers how she accidentally broke one of her grandmother's Meissen porcelain birds as a child. Distraught, she told her mother that she was afraid her grandmother would get mad at her, especially because the bird was part of a set. So her mom broke the other one, saying "Now we both broke one, and she won't dare punish me, which means she can't punish you, either."

According to the Cut piece, she had King Charles spaniels that she was not able to care for at some point during her friendship with Natalie. Then she had caterpillars that died because she didn't understand that chrysalis habitats don't involve old wine bottles and rug crumbs, which attract bugs and the spiders that eat them. Kitty had to go for incest and territory/space reasons. All this is to say that she has a bad track record with pets.

CC's said that she takes Matisse for walks, but I tend to think she does not mean she takes her cat out on a leash around the West Village. More like le pauvre is being carted around, Tinkerbell-style.

Can't speak to Matisse being overweight; that breed have a lot of fur, and he is a city cat in a studio. If he is overweight, she should have him on a special diet. Because he's in a small space, she should have some stimulating toys (I hate typing that but I can't figure out a way around it) and multiple cat trees.

I've worked in leasing and property management and we had multiple animal abuse/neglect issues with tenants. It's unfortunately very common and there's very little SPCA can do most of the time.

I found this book, and it's a little bit blowing my mind how much harder I've been making getting my place under control. Reading that and then looking at CC'S insta... Imagine how pretty the Tableaux could look if she followed the rule of "inventory must be less than storage"

It looks pretty similar to this cheap brand on Amazon. The bolded words on the back label look like "Suggested Use," which matches, and the overall shape of the rest of the text looks the same too.

Given that people in earlier threads said she's been pricing a $30 Amazon shoe rack as midcentury with original retail value in the hundreds, I don't know that taking her word for the prices is totally necessary.

I think I found a screenshot of the garage sale and there doesn't appear to be an original value listed. There's a similar one on Amazon for $54 but they can run from $20 to hundreds of dollars.

there are SO MANY creative ways to write/create a book these days. that wouldn’t take this much time and “effort” and could still be really well done. a favorite of mine is this little guy that I keep on my desk.

I skimmed through a couple of essays and I'm ... not that impressed. There's a lot to snark on about the subject matter itself, but the book is shit even from a pure craft-of-writing perspective. Cazzie's self-aware-that-I'm-a-total-princess-and-boy-crazy-even-though-I-like-grungy-sweatpants tone is so contrived, as though she gorged herself on a mixture of Megan Daum essays and I-definitely-didn't-spend-the-better-part-of-an-hour-crafting-this tweets from 'LA cool girls' and regurgitated her best approximation. I feel embarrassed for all the famous people who left good reviews before the book was released to the public.

I went down a bit of a Cazzie David rabbit hole when she was mentioned on here, thinking "damn, finally, the inside-looking-in account of influencer and Hollywood culture that I've been waiting for!" No One Asked for This is ... not that.

tl;dr Cazzie ain't that deep. I want her to become actual friends with CC and see what 'collaborations' the two of them can cook up 🤪

If she had found an original book somewhere in a used bookstore I don’t think I would have as much of a problem. Buying something on Amazon then selling it as vintage feels illegal.

I personally go with Stok if im buying prepackaged cold brew, I think it has the best taste to cost ratio. If you are looking for a cheaper cold brew option, this little set up has been a game changer for me. Fill it with your favorite coffee grounds, pour water over, let sit for 48 hours in the fridge, and it makes enough concentrate for the whole week. I would reccomend getting a second jar though if you want to have a continuous supply, since there is the 2 day brew time, its just a standard wide mouth so easy to find.

there's a running theme in my friend group that i'm always dehydrated, all of my friends are constantly yelling at me to drink more water so one of them got me one of those kinda cheesy bottles that have the time intervals on it like this and i have to say it really helped me stay on top of a daily goal! more than an app or reminders

also i got a water pitcher that has an infuser and cut up cucumbers/lemons/fruit etc bc apparently if there's even a slight taste for some reason my brain is more inclined to drink

I have one of those covered toothbrush holders that suction to the bathroom wall, my tongue scraper fits into the notches for toothbrushes too. Something like this, but I got mine for cheaper from my local supermarket.

I really like it, I used to keep my dental supplies standing up in a cup but the base of the cup would constantly accumulate water and eventually get a little bit mouldy (?). I also wash my tongue scraper with antibacterial soap before and after each use!

Definitely try a watch along! Loads less pressure to talk all the time and navigate the lag that comes with a lot of the zoom-type programs, my friends and I use Netflix Party chrome extension (https://www.netflixparty.com/) which starts the film at the same time for all participants and has a chat function at the side so you don't even need to talk. It can be a bit buggy though but I do recommend!

Here's a cat tree that we've had in the past that is pretty sturdy and cats loved it.

Sure! It's called the Shark Navigator Lift-Away. I've had it about four months so far, and it works great! Also, if you have carpet, make sure you get one of these rubber rakes to use beforehand. I bought it at the same time. It is astounding how much hair and pet fur the rake will pull up. It helps a lot, because the vacuum works even better if there isn't a lot of larger debris to get caught in the brushes. I have two long-haired dachshunds, though, so even with the rake, I end up having to snip a lot of fur out of the brush heads with scissors after each vacuuming.

I tried this one. Totally understandable to be hesitant! I hope you can find a solution that works well for you :)

i have to deal with so many off leash dogs in the area i live and it drives me mad. i have four dogs who i believe to be angels on earth but unfortunately they don’t act that way when we’re out on walks and come upon off leash dogs. for a long time i just didn’t walk them in our neighborhood because the amount of off leash dogs i saw on every walk just made me waytoofuckingtense and that ultimately made the walks unenjoyable for me and for my dogs too. now i carry direct stop and a lil air horn in my fanny pack and it makes me feel so much more comfortable knowing i have it in case shit hits the fan. neither the direct stop nor the air horn will cause any harm to a dog (we used to use both to break up scuffles when i worked at a doggy daycare). it’s gonna sound kinda cruel saying it, but my recommendation is, next time you’re out walking your dog and this dog runs up close on y’all, use the direct stop or air horn. maybe the other dog’s parents will say something to you, but a) you’re not the one breaking the law and 2) it’s not gonna hurt their dog and d) you already told them something could happen between your dog and theirs if they don’t take precautions. you might become know as the asshole who sprayed their dog with citronella spray, but you also might be the asshole who prevents them from having to deal with a dog fight or their dog getting hit by a car.

I love senior cats so much and always try to encourage people to adopt ones who are at least adults. Mine loves when we chase each other around the house or play with a feather stick toy.
