I know this is a joke, but I just want to say that I watched this one last week after it showed up right on the tippy top of my Netflix feed. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Also, use https://flickmetrix.com to find movies to watch instead. 👍
You should try out https://flickmetrix.com/. It'll will help you find where movies are streamed between Netflix and Amazon Prime.
Also helps to find something worth watching. They have native apps for your phone too.
Super late to the party but I hope you see this:
It is infinitely better for filtering and sorting than the Netflix UI which is designed to bury the gems so that you have to look through all the dirt.
Yeah, RT is far better, a lot of people complain tho because they don't understand it's a barometer of passable enjoyment from critics vs a score system like IMDB.
Flickmetrix was pretty neat when it launched, but was super slow on updating so I kinda fell out of using it. Will probably give it another go tho.
Im probably going to get downvoted for this but what the hell.

You said you only have access to NetFlix and have a tight budget, so try this:

my pick for the first 10 results I got would be BOYHOOD. Its a singular film that was made over 12 years. You actually get to see the actors age as they get physically older during the course of that period - like really age- not SFX or makeup. Its really something. Quite long though at nearly 3 hours, I think?

Further down the list, Dallas Buyers Club is a good film, as is Spotlight, which is an interesting snapshot of history, but quite serious. I loved Wind River, and I thought Black Panther was a very capable super hero pic with broad appeal. Of those, I would say Black Panther would probably be the most failsafe for most viewers if you have not already seen it :) Ex Machina is an excellent Sci Fi, but a very serious film. If you like offbeat, slice-of-life and interesting characters, Tangerine is fantastic.
this is a pretty good site. it takes scores from RT, IMDB, Metacritic, and Letterboxd and creates a combined score
be sure to lower the # of reviews filter from >50 down to >20 though, or a lot of good stuff will get cut off
Es wurd schon gut erklärt, was der Unterschied zwischen den Seiten ist.
Mein Senf dazu:
Darüber hinaus:
Fazit: Einfach mal alles checken. Und auch bei individuellen Kritiken muss man wissen, was für den Kritiker eine 7 und was eine 10 ist.
Audience scores on rotten tomatoes, dvd releases has some decent ratings, r/movies comment section. Lookmovie has a most watched and ratings system on their site if you are just streaming. You can also check out flick metrix or other movie review aggregators.
I’ve bookmarked this but FYI it’s very similar to https://flickmetrix.com/.
Is there any way to sort by highest rated? I’m on my phone so not sure if I was seeing the full possibilities within the site.
https://flickmetrix.com/ is perhaps a website, you could use. You can choose the rating-system (imdb, letterboxd, critics, audience) and then sort all movies avaible on netflix in your country. Have fun :-)
Downvote. Criterion sucks man. It's for people who think they have good taste in film. I tried using justwatch.com again after your recommendation and justwatch is just alright. Nothing special. Still not nearly as good as Flixable, flickmetrix, or lazyday. Mostly because I think justwatch has a terrible UI whereas the latter sites are much cleaner imo.
I think we are all painfully aware that the searching and filtering in Netflix SUCKS!
Almost as if it was carefully designed to show you what Netflix want you to watch. 🙄
Third party sites, like https://flickmetrix.com/netflix help.
https://flickmetrix.com/ - ranks all the movies on Netflix and Amazon
https://flixable.com/ - ranks show on Netflix also has guides and will tell you when things are leaving or join Netflix
The thumbs system on Netflix is so bad I entirely ignore it. I miss the stars so much, they were SO good at recommending things I might not normally watch and ended up really liking. It's guessed rating was really accurate.

I found that this can also be helpful. it was posted on r/movies sometime ago and can really help if you're in the mood for a particular genre.
IMO if you do this right you could make a really popular website worth decent $ (while being very useful/fun). This website started as a small project with the same ideas for movies, and grew into a relatively high-traffic search engine. Check it out if you need design ideas.
A focus in on TV Show offerings on these services pointing out their IMDB, Rotten Tomatoes and TV time ratings for comparison.
I guess it could be said that it's like https://flickmetrix.com/ but for TV shows and also just a spread sheet. I didn't make it but it seemed extensive so thought I'd share it here
Not your average post, but:
It allows you to view movie ratings taken from 5 of the most reputable rating sites at one time & gives the average score. You can also filter movies by availability on Netflix & Amazon prime, genre, and number of critic reviews.
