This Patreon is ours, but we haven't really promoted it yet. On one hand we don't feel comfortable asking for money, but on the other hand, so many people donate and subscribe on streams and such. With multiple people working a lot of hours every week to make this possible, and with our own content (tools, music subscription etc), a lot of more leagues and games (Bo2s and Bo3s) and a website coming up, we really feel like we can step up our game if we have some sort of monthly budget.
Not sure when, but we'll eventually promote this a bit more (without spamming it, of course).
You should post this as reply to Alkalene's post here - he's the one recording the games, so he'd know more about it. Also, if you're watching VoDs because you can't watch Twitch.tv right now at work, try this - it seems IGN has their own streaming platform for free HD broadcast, so that may work!
It’s in the plans, but we want to narrow down the features and polish the design before jumping in that version!
You can use this client built independently which uses the data from the subreddits: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kox.zzreal&hl=en
Unfortunately you can't do that. :/
There are two alternatives though, you can use our Android app or newly released website which is mobile responsive, although video player page still needs some love (that'll be taken care of asap).
The twitch link to the start of game 1 of the Grand final spoils the EU finals, you could easily fix that by adding 3-4 seconds to the link, example: https://www.twitch.tv/riotgames/v/61178465?t=5h58m32s
I personally prefer YouTube Center - it adds a whole ton of functionality and customization to YouTube that's not available to the typical user, including autoplay settings, autoresolution (e.g. force all videos to 720p by default over YT's default "Auto" setting), and downloading.
Do note, however, if you're using Chrome, you'll have to install Tampermonkey first and install the YouTube Center script from OpenUserJS, since Google has disallowed the extension from the Chrome store since it violates some of its YouTube policies.
I live in China also and I use PureVPN it works well. I would highly recommend getting a dedicated IP along with it it is by far the most reliable server for me to connect to. Even with a VPN youtube and twitch don't run very smoothly but what I have been doing to watch worlds is watching the games on which is a chinese version of twitch and since I dont speak Chinese I listen to the English cast on . Sadly the radio stream is behind the chinese video stream but its better than silence.
Yup, zzReal was an amazing app four years ago when it was released (it still is). I've worked directly with creator and provided a ton of feedback as well as made many changes to our thread formatting to make sure the app works properly. Since it uses the data from this subreddit, it means if we ever change formatting or reddit changes something on their end (once they launch the new layout for example), the app will no longer work. It's also no longer actively developed and updated by original creator. It doesn't support any other games, any extra links that aren't part of our standard tables formatting or more advanced features (such as resume watching, hidden progress bar etc). But it's definitely the best option for Android users right now.
iOS app on the other hand (and hopefully Android app down the road) uses the data from our website API which means it's more future-proof and should also provide even better user (spoiler-free) experience.
You should be able to install the Chrome extension in Opera via an Opera extension that allows it :)
Edit: Back on desktop, here's the link - https://addons.opera.com/en-gb/extensions/details/download-chrome-extension-9/?display=en
Or you could use YouTube Center (note to Chrome users: Requires installation of the Tampermonkey add-on for installation of YouTube Center).
Did you know eSportspedia already has one where they broadcast almost all LCS games? http://mixlr.com/esportspedia/
We'll look into helping them to expand the coverage to other popular events, such as LCK & LPL in near future as well!
You can download vids with Youtube GO ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.youtube.mango )
Well, it may be a problem with firewall too.
Honestly, it's not worth the hassle. PureVPN is so cheap and reliable that I stopped bothering using any kinds of proxies and sometimes I even forget I have it turned on - don't really notice the different in speed unless I'm downloading something, haha.
God dammit.
>- Check if you can play this video in your region in browser, otherwise use proxy settings in the app.
Since you can't open it directly on YouTube, no app like this will work either. :/
Did you try PureVPN by any chance? You can actually try it for free and it costs ~$5/month - I've been using it for Netflix and such in past, it's excellent and only VPN I've been satisfied with.
#3 likely won't work; the Great Firewall will pick it up.
Go with the VPN option: there's tons of them out there (Private Internet Access, Vypr, etc.), and I'm sure there's some that route traffic directly through Hong Kong (as noted; needed to get around the Great Firewall and not automatically trigger the internet getting shut down).
