I got NordVPN and it’s working great so far!
Edit to add: I watch it on the ITV website about an hour after it airs and never have trouble with buffering. If you try to watch right at the time they post it the delay is terrible.
Me too Haha NordVPN has kept me from going crazy.
(I had a lot of success with realitytvarchive in the past but navigating through all the clickbait became too much, and like Aaron, I just want a simple, drama free life.)
I had the same problem with ITV Hub and ExpressVPN - if you're trying to watch it live then change your location to Ireland and search "Virgin Media Player Ireland" and watch it on there. You don't have to create an account and you can watch it with no buffering whatsoever - you have to disable your adblocker for that site if you have one as that stops the video player from loading. I'm not sure if you can watch previous episodes on demand on there but check it out.
I’m in New York and using NordVPN. I had a huge amount of lagging if I tried to watch when the show is live. But I’ve noticed that ITV2 actually has the episode up pretty immediately after it’s been aired, so I just wait until about 5:30 Eastern time and it’s a lot better to watch. There’s maybe an occasional buffer every so often but it’s a fraction of what you have to deal with live. The only downside is not being able to follow live reactions on Twitter and here 😂
Is anyone else using a VPN and having issues with live streaming? I use NordVPN and haven't been able to watch live on ITV hub. It either loads nonstop or I get an error saying "oops, it looks like there's a problem" and it asks me to refresh.
Well I use NordVPN, and it’s great for UK content. Unfortunately you have to pay to use it. If you do get a VPN like that though, you have to first connect to the VPN, then sign up for an ITV account. From there you should be good to watch live and if you missed the show you can watch it minutes after it comes out on tv. There’s also the Unseen Bits Saturday show and the Aftersun show on Sunday on there to watch. Hope this helps!
Okay so I can't believe I did this, but Love Island is such a guilty pleasure for me that I paid for a VPN service so that I could proxy to UK servers and watch from itv's website directly. I'm using TunnelBear which is genuinely a little pricey (like $50 CAD a year) but works SUPER well and is extremely easy to use. Though there are defs free VPN's out there that should work fine.
If you are using a VPN, got through to ITV2, but it is giving you a pop-up about something wrong - it is likely that you have an adblocker turned on somewhere. I had to turn both the in-browser ad-blocking (I'm using Opera GX Browser) AND the ad-blocking for my VPN software (NordVPN) off in order for the ITV2 window to load properly. The show began immediately for me on the live feed - though I'm going to watch it later. If that doesn't fix it, perhaps you have ad-blocking of some sort through your wireless router software?
I assume if you paid for the ITV streaming package thing for ad-less viewing, you probably could load the video player even with ad-blocking things on, but perhaps not.
40 more min and I'm gonna cave and pay for ExpressVPN for two months. This is so trash. It's not that the expense is an issue (it's nominal), it's just a bummer that things have deteriorated so much. I know I became a fan of the show because it was so accessible when a friend told me about it years ago.
I did ExpressVPN and ITV2 is the only channel not working. It will load but it’s just a black screen with audio. If it doesn’t get fixed by the time of the show, I guess I’m gonna end up just listening to the episode like a podcast 😭
Hi guys, I've been trying to find a way and using Avira Phantom VPN seems to succesfully set my location as the UK. It is working fine and I can open the live streaming of ITV perfectly, however, when I try for iTV2, it says "Sorry! This video isn't available right now". Any clues why?

edit: seems that the issue was the VPN I was using, thanks to u/okaybutfirstcoffee for suggesting Unlocator, this one works, I'M READY!
Oh, excellent! Glad I posted it then :)
If you don't fancy going through the Guardian website then they collated his articles in a few books. But yeah, I'm a huge fan haha
Is anyone having luck watching this with a VPN on the ITV website? I can get the episode to play but it’s unwatchably low-res and buffering every five seconds. I’m on ExpressVPN and have been trying Chrome and Safari. This is very frustrating!
I downloaded ExpressVPN and got an ITV account set up. It’s working for the live stream but it’s very blurry and keeps freezing and re loading. Does this happen to anyone else? Is this common with VPN’s or is it my wifi?
Ok, so I was using NordVPN and getting that message. Just got ExpressVPN and now it at least is letting me launch the livestream like the other channels. However, it keeps playing the same 5 second clip of Wonder Woman (currently on ITV2) and then just starts lagging :///
I’m in the US and do this. I use NordVPN. It does cost like $10 a month but you can find free ones to use for a few months at a time. It airs at 4pm EST and in the past it would almost always be there at 515 when I got home from work.
You can also watch it live, but for me it would always pause and buffer.
I had the exact same problem with ExpressVPN trying to watch live, but watching right after the episode ended as a “recording” was super smooth. That will probably be my method going forward since it airs during my workday anyway.
I’ll try! You typically have to pay a subscription or annual fee but once you’ve obtained an account you download the company’s software on your computer or as an app on your phone. For NordVPN it’s as simple as installing the program, logging in, and allowing it to manage VPN settings on your device. Once you’re in you can choose a country, for example to watch LI you would choose the UK, then it will give you access to UK - only content. There are some situations where VPNS won’t work or will be blocked though.
ExpressVPN is a reputable one and a good place to start. The point of a VPN is that you can connect to the internet from a server that’s wherever you want to be. In this case you’d want an IP address somewhere in the UK so that when you go to it thinks you’re local. It’s pretty self explanatory once you sign up - I’m not IP-address savvy and easily figured it out. And it’s not expensive but it does cost money so if you think you’ll only use it for Love Island, might as well wait and sign up the day of the premiere. Good luck!
Hi there!
Fellow Canadian here. I use ExpressVPN. It works for Netflix and all American network sites (NBC, CBS, etc).
As far as Love Island goes, I actually watch it via The Reality Archive -
You have to sign up to use it, but it is free (like actually, not one of those free but you have to pay to see things). I was initially skeptical and worried about signing up so I just made a throw away email via gmail and signed up with that. Surprisingly, the site was legit. New episodes are uploaded a few hours after they air in the UK.
Useless American #86 here, I’m using ExpressVPN and have figured out how to watch itv2 live on my laptop but have not been able to figure out how to watch it live on an Amazon Fire TV Stick, any advice?
It worked perfectly today with Unlocator, it wasn’t working properly yesterday but after the DNS setup (I have no idea what that means, I just followed their instructions) it ran smoothly. You can have a 3-day trial and then u$5/month
Yes! I actually use a SmartDNS instead of a VPN - it doesn't offer all of the security features and whatnot, but it's much more straightforward, don't have to download anything or worry about data caps. I use Unlocator's.
Im from the UK so it is possible that there is a TV arrangement, but i just used ExpressVPN when i was abroad & I’ve seen a few others say they use it. i think there is a way to vote but its confusing & involves making a new apple ID & stuff. I did see someone mention that they live in New York but bought a UK phone number just so they can vote.
US here! I use ExpressVPN and ITVHub and it buffers so much for me. I don't know if there's any way around that. I just tend to watch the important episodes (like yesterday's) right after it airs and it's on demand because it only buffers when it's live!
I also use NordVPN and was trying to sign up for ITV Hub, but it wasn’t letting me. I tried 4 different emails and random UK postcodes, and each email would say it was already registered and to try logging in instead. Am i doing something wrong?
I bit the bullet and spent $40 on a year subscription to NordVPN. Been working fine so far, but occasionally the itv site does pick up that I’m using a VPN and won’t let me watch anything. Super fucking annoying. Tbh if I knew how to stream it for everyone I’d consider doing it..
Wow you're right! I screenshotted it for when she inevitably unlikes that tweet as well.
Shaughna really wants to have her cake and eat it too. Being seen as "real" being the cake and having Maura like her being the "too."
For those of u that don't have apple stuff, here's how I did it:
1. Downloaded Bluestacks on my computer (Android emulator)
2. Downloaded Windscribe (VPN) and set it to UK
3. Logged into one of my side google accounts on Bluestacks (note: you could do this with your main account but you lose all your google play $ and can't change back for a year)
It should automatically recognize you as being in the UK if the VPN is on, and from there you can download the app. It will ask you for a form of payment but you can hit skip.
It was such a basass song for her walkout but here it is, Psychopath by Laura Greaves Feat. Khwezi & Lhotse. https://www.shazam.com/track/556646690/psychopath
And shazam is free is you have a phone aha
Found a great little service for your mobile called unlocator. https://unlocator.com/
Works really well for mobiles, offers a completely free trial and the setup was super easy with their instructions. Then after a week it’s £4 per week, which is a bargain for 6 eps of LI.
If you’re on a laptop, tunnel bear is the best piece of software to download and use to change your location/IP.
Don’t use HOLA - you’ll get viruses!
In waves? The easiest way to buy a hair tool that does it. I don’t know what country you’re in but it the tool looks like this
Depending your hair type, how well it holds curl, you could also put damp hair in thick braids and wait until it dries. It helps if you have some mouse or other styling product in. For some reason I like it better when I do two Dutch braids instead of French braids, but that’s just. Personal preference.
if you’re a visual learner, google “Beach waves for ____________” (insert your hair type & length) there are bound to be tutorials
I actually bought this book last night. Unrelated to Love Island events, lol! Haven't started it yet, but the reviews look good.
I just voted today from America after downloading the NordVPN app to my phone and connecting to the UK. Hope that doesn't annoy anyone, I just love the show so much 😭 it was my first time voting ever and it truly brought me (an almost sad amount of) joy.
And of course...Feddy forever
It's SUPER easy but some VPN apps have interfaces that are hard to figure out. I have used several. Currently using Malwarebytes and it is the most user friendly I have seen; it has two UK server options. It comes free with an antivirus subscription, so if you buy antivirus anyway, it makes sense to switch for the free VPN. Have also used NordVPN.
I use NordVPN
Basically you just boot it up and pick the country on the map you want to VPN to. Give it a second to connect and then you can go.
ITV website requires a free account to watch things on their site, so I just made an alternate persona that lives in Liverpool. They require a postal code so just Google one for any city in the UK.
I use NordVPN. I watch a little bit of both ways. If I'm available when the episode airs live, then I'll watch it live without the subtitles and sometimes go back later and watch parts again when the subtitles are available. If I don't get a chance to watch live (or close to live), then I'll wait the day to watch the first time with subtitles.
A VPN is a "Virtual Private Network". It's software. It changes your IP address to a different location so that you can either a: remain anonymous or b: access content in a different location then where you actually are.
There are a lot of different VPNs around but I suggest not using free ones. They can be sketchy and record your info. I personally use NordVPN. It costs money but I use it very often and it's very user friendly.
I have NordVPN too, I just didn't know if you have to have an account or something to watch. Like, people who watch Big Brother from outside the US have trouble getting live feeds because you have to sign up for CBS All Access, and I guess it's hard to do that from outside the US. I'll have to do my research before the show starts. :)
Can vouch for ExpressVPN. I tried some others that never seemed to work but I was able to watch all of series 5 & 6 with that one (and it even works with Netflix, which is usually pretty good with detecting VPNs!)
I’m using PrivateVPN and they have dedicated locations for streaming. For example if you want to watch ITV you can use their London location. It’s a paid VPN but I don’t think you can stream most streaming services with a free one though.
It worked perfectly today with Unlocator, it wasn’t working properly yesterday but after the DNS setup (I have no idea what that means, I just followed their instructions) it ran smoothly. You can have a 3-day trial and then u$5/month
Is anyone getting ITV hub to work with a VPN? I use Mullvad but no luck. BBC player works just fine though. I don't want to watch 360p streams for the entire series.
Edit: And I would gladly pay for ITV Hub+ but I can't since you need a UK credit card.
i live in the netherlands.
i use ExpressVPN. my year subscription is over in june. gonna have to re-up. its the best.
ive used it to watch netflix japan, netflix usa, netflix UK, MTV usa & canada, bbc iplayer, Channel 4's All4, (9now, abc iView, foxtel and tenplay = australian TV).
and ofcourse ITV Hub last summer
