That reminds me, here's a generic blood explosion / death animation I've been working on: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5Z7X21RcMPYdFNodHIweUZVa0U/edit?usp=sharing
Also, I haven't really been keeping in contact with people, are there regular meetings anymore, or are people just going on the IRC whenever they can?

Try this one. Although I think you need XP SP2. It has some art updates too. I hope IcarusB doesn't get mad at me for showing off his unfinished animations.
It's a Flappy Bird knock-off made in Construct 2. Considering I haven't done any actual game development in some time, I'm actually quite proud of this. It's simple, but it works for me. Sorry, no mute button!
It will depend on what you've used I think. Java is pretty conservative and uses C-like syntaxis. So if you used anything similar, Java will be quite straightforward for most stuff.
The only book I've read so I can recommend is Effective Java. But I would suggest you to write a few line of codes in java before reading it.
Since you love platformers, I thought I'd let you know about this wonderful platformer: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.touchfoo.swordigo
It's free (in app purchases are not necessary at all), but probably the best Android game I've ever played. Apparently it was made by just 3 people.
Sound designer here saying HI! I also do music but I'm mainly interested in making sounds. You can see a sound replacement project I made here:
And my portfolio is at http://alfonse.dunked.com/
> Can they climb? No not initially but may be able to after some upgrades Jump?small basic jumps not really far upgrades can be gotten to enhance his jump. Swim? Not without upgrades.
This bit is neat! It reminds me a lot of the fantastic game Robot Wants Puppy - you start out with pretty much no abilities and have to collect upgrades that let you climb, fly, shoot, etc.
I would like to join the art team or the programing team. I am both a programmer and artist but I'm more comfortable doing art then programing.
I've had experience in making games before and I currently have two released on Kongregate: Jetpack Racers and Shoot 'em Deer.
The programing languages I know are Java Script, C# and C++. I am most comfortable with Java Script.
The art I'm able to produce is mainly 3D models but I've been learning how to make pixel and isometric art.
Yes, it would be awesome to start like this. This is basically what God of War II did.
I just want to put this here.
Here is what megaman x looks before and after the full armor.
Also its not to be a dick. It keeps players hooked. Once you know you will be able to pull shit like that by the end of the game you are hooked.
Just make sure to not perfect the character way before the end of the game. Most games pretty muc end the moment you become awesome.
