Glen Cook's Black Company series shares some similarities, and was an influence on Malazan.
Here is the Amazon link. I didn’t realize this when I bought it but there are multiple reviews that go over it, with the exact same pages affected with the same book.
Deviant Art has a good amount of stuff fan art. I don't know of any official artwork, though there might be some out there.
I think this picture is one of the most helpful for helping establish a sense of scale in the Malazan universe.

A fucking fantastic app. You input freeform text, pick a style (or no style), and the app spits out absolutely incredible art using "AI" (some kind of machine learning algorithm).
For the fellow international folks: bookdepository also says it's released if you click the link for the paperback (on the hardcover there's still a counter though).
Stealing someone's work in order to do what? Make money? Some people maybe, but for most I'm sure it's only for fun.
GRRM's argument seems to be more about copyright and licensing, but OP doesn't seem to be aiming to attach his own name to the Malazan property. And GRRM is only one author, Stephen King in his book On Writing wrote that starting from the work of another author was great exercise for him. You bounce off another person's idea and eventually are able to create your own. And that's pretty much what ICE did, like you mentioned. He wouldn't have gotten to the level he is now without first trying to emulate Erikson.
Everyone has to start from somewhere.
Greetings fellow lover of matching sets. I've been tracking it as well. Same deal, the Indigo date came and went without it actually coming out in Canada.
It's out only in the UK. If you look on Amazon here https://www.amazon.ca/Kellanveds-Reach-Path-Ascendancy-Book/dp/0857504398/ this is the listing with the dreaded 2080 placeholder date. You'll also notice it is not listed under the usual mass market heading.
If you check the back cover image, you'll see the printed price is $18.99. Which is absolutely wack for Canada as it's usually 14 (sometimes 13) cover price here for the mass markets from Bantam.
I recently came across someone in the US on FB who ordered it from the UK. He measured it for me and verified the ISBN. It does in fact exist - incorrect price and all. Imagine my surprise.
It's probably a bit of the pandemic/brexit messing things up and also the wrong price printed on the back - so most likely they need stickers on the back to fix that.
If you are willing to pay a bit more, both Blackwell's and Book Depository do sell it and ship to Canada. If it takes too long to actually come out here, I'll bite the bullet and get it before it goes out of print.
Sidenote: there is some screwiness happening with the mass market Bantams in Canada. I haven't reached out to the publisher yet to confirm, but some of the later Erikson novels are sold out as well - which if it's like ICE, then OOP with Tor copies replacing them. ICE ones have been OOP for a while (most notably Stonewielder). Maybe they are ceding territory to Tor here?
Pro-tip: Indigo will transfer books between stores for free. So if it's sold out online but some store has it, you can still get it. Just call customer service. That's how I got the last copy of Stonewielder in the country a few years ago. Red Deer to Toronto.
Also where the hell is the Bantam B&KB2 mass market? Should have been March 2020 by my count, but it never was listed.
You are indeed correct - LINKY
The US audible has the whole set. Checking the UK audible website only shows GotM, like you said. That sucks, I wonder why.
edit: A couple things you could try is using either a VPN or a chrome extension that removes those stupid geographic restrictions. Though, I've never tried the extensions you should be able to buy the books and download them to your pc.
Create a new vault in Obsidian and you can make a note for each character and link them in various ways so you can see all the connections in the graph view.

Then make it public so we can all enjoy it!
I’ve bought several of them new off Amazon. Here’s Toll the Hounds for example:
Toll the Hounds: Book Eight of The Malazan Book of the Fallen (Malazan Book of the Fallen, 8) https://www.amazon.com/dp/0765316544/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_Y875REE7VFJMBF5Q09A4
Some of them are pretty expensive, but eBay is also a good place to look. Just make sure the look for trade paperback and avoid mass market paperback. If there’s any ambiguity, check the dimensions. I’ve been collecting these versions and it hasn’t been too bad.
95% of the time I prefer physical books, but not with Malazan. I found myself flipping to the dramatis personae/glossary/maps/ CONSTANTLY. This would've been a serious hassle with +1,000 page books, but as an ebook it's a tap away via bookmarks.
Plus there's a really good deal ebook wise where you can get all 10 books in a single "cover". Here's an amazon link if you're interested :)
Not according to Amazon. Hard, paper, Kindle, MP3, Audible.
Edit: No, that's a preorder...
UPDATE! I found a collection of Lovecraft's complete work on Amazon. Kindle version was $0.49

I agree, but Page's narration of Karsa Orlong is fantastic. Same with Hellian.
I'll be disappointed if Page doesn't narrate The God is Not Willing (only 15 months away!).
They're widely available in MMPB.
Only one that is giving me the twitch now is the Forge of Darkness and trade paperback. I can't find the Bantam version, if there is one.
Hmm, maybe it's not what I'm thinking of then, because they seem to just be the normal paperback version on the US amazon page?
Recent Favorite Book(s): Lost Transmissions: The Secret History of Science Fiction and Fantasy, non-fiction, really good book about forgotten scifi and related content. The Incal,I had been hearing people rave about this forever and finally went in when they announced a movie.
I honestly don't remember why I started reading Gardens of the Moon, it would have been in the mid-late 2000s. When I was in running start there was a group of older nerd students who were always suggesting scifi and fantasy for me to read. Malazan feels to me more like a narrative history than a fantasy book. It doesn't conform to the fantasy template but it also doesn't bash you over the head with subverting expectations.
I am splitting this read through between Kindle and Audible, my first read was physical copies, then I did an audiobook one, now I'm reading at home and listening on hikes.
Welcome to the community! Echoing a lot of the sentiments in some of the other comments, don’t google stuff! There’s a lot of great info within the subreddit, and plenty of knowledgeable people here too.
If you’re someone who enjoys podcasts and/or are looking to hear the perspectives and questions of some other first-time readers may I suggest Ten Very Big Books! Full disclosure: I produce and edit this show, but I really do think it’s a great resource for new readers and it’s fun to listen to!
Enjoy the books!

Too many good ones to list them all, but my favorite:
“Show me a god that does not demand mortal suffering. Show me a god that celebrates diversity, a celebration that embraces even non-believers, and is not threatened by them. Show me a god that understands the meaning of peace. In life, not in death.”
I like instrumental metal, or post-rock/metal. Anything that is heavy, without any distracting lyrics or growling/screaming. Preferably music that is dramatic and has a lot of epic build-ups.
Absolute favorite album right now is Pelican - What We All Come To Need.
The fan made maps are very rough and simple. The Malazan world is very very big, and there is no official world map. All you get from the books map wise are partial maps of continents usually (if you're lucky full maps). Everything else has to be guessed from descriptions in the text. So while in ASOIAF pretty much everything is known (only unknown is that middle section of Essos, but even then everyone pretty much agrees on one shape) so map makers can concentrate on crazy beauty and details.
Malazan map makers are still concentrating on figuring out what the world even looks like. This is the most accurate I believe, but there are still manay guesses being made there.
If you know what you're looking for then it's not too hard to find using The Malazan Search of the Fallen.
I have all the digital versions as well so I like using Calibre's search function when having discussions, and after 5 full read-throughs you get pretty good at finding the desired passages.
The Reddit syntax for posting is based on Markdown, and it borrows several things from there, like italics, bold, ~~strikeout~~. There are a lot of fun things you can do, like
(done with the hash symbol: # Headers
)
(with two headers)
or blockquotes, lists, and so on. The Fancy Pants Editor embedded in Reddit takes care of this in a select-and-click way, but if you switch to Markdown you can write the "code". In particular, the spoiler is done as I pointed out in my previous post.
If anyone has gotten these can you tell me if they are good. Steven Erikson 10 Books Collection Set (Vol. 1-10) (The Malazan Book of the Fallen) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B083GCHJ4Y/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_nOb0Fb7HAV2R9
I’ll keep that in mind. However would this be a good set? Steven Erikson 10 Books Collection Set (Vol. 1-10) (The Malazan Book of the Fallen) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B083GCHJ4Y/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_uK5ZFbFK1AS1D
Where do you live?
Amazon usually has them all, here is the first one.
I have a paperback, but couldn't stand to wait for the US release date when it came out over a month earlier in Europe. I ordered from Amazon UK and it shipped to my house from Germany. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Kellanveds-Reach-Path-Ascendancy-Book/dp/0857502859/ref=sr_1_1?crid=HWBSBKGHXSJ3&keywords=kellanved%27s+reach&qid=1560001341&s=gateway&sprefix=kellanved%2Caps%2C230&sr=8-1
What do you mean? You can buy hardcopy or softcopy of the books when they release and even now on amazon you can just chose hardcopy. (not the illustrated hardcopies ofc, those are collectors items)

Here is an example of a hardcopy for just under 15 pounds, or rougly 20? dollars? Im not sure exactly:

Forge of Darkness is everywhere where i live. https://www.amazon.ca/Forge-Darkness-Kharkanas-Trilogy-1/dp/0857501356/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=Forge+of+Darkness&qid=1550295410&s=gateway&sr=8-1

You can get it from there. Stonewielder has been missing completely.
> It kind of sucks though cause I like listening at x3 speed on Audible. And my phone's app only goes to x2. Ah well.
Are you even human?
Though player I use on Android support up to 2.5x, but how one can stand it?
I wanted them all in one ebook - they have that on the amazon store in the US and I wondered if I could buy it in the UK
I'm going to recommend something that you're not explicitly looking for.
Read the Silmarillion as a palette cleanser. It's relatively short and easy reading, and takes you back to the roots of fantasy writing. I've got this edition and the illustrations are gorgeous as well. It reads like classical mythology, but better.
Tolkien's son has been releasing some more edited/focused versions of some of the stories within the broader Silmarillion, but I haven't checked those out yet.
Yeah, I agree. I like having them separate.
This is what I thought was a true ebook bundle for ICE, but now I see it also is 1 large ebook: https://www.amazon.com/Malazan-Empire-Crimson-Stonewielder-Sceptre-ebook/dp/B074ZFN2MW/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1512409383&sr=1-1&keywords=ian+c+esslemont+bundle
I think there is a need for publishers to allow / create true individual e-book bundles. I too dislike the combined "all in 1" e-books.
Are the Malazan Reread posts available as an ebook? Either officially, like those for the Wheel of Time, or fan-made?
I had this same dilemma when I started. Got the first two books in paperback because a) well I just like the feel of the book, and b) felt like a series like Malazan would need flipping back and forth etc.
But ever since I finished DG, I've read the rest off of my Kindle and it's been great!
Yeah it seems to be available but for some reason isn't listed on the books amazon page https://www.amazon.com/Return-Crimson-Guard-Malazan-Empire-ebook/dp/B003FQM34M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1476379769&sr=8-1&keywords=return+of+the+guard+malazan
Alright, what amazon website are you on?
This is the one I'm usually checking http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fall-Light-Steven-Erikson/dp/0765323575/
it says in october here, really hope it comes out next month though :P
