Wife and I currently live here, after having lived in Winnipeg for almost a decade. There is a shortage of skilled labour, so if you are not getting a response, you might want to look at your resume or apply to specific positions. www.indeed.ca and www.jobbank.gc.ca are where most of the jobs are listed, with the rest being on ThompsonCitizen.net (http://issuu.com/thompson-citizen) and Government of Manitoba Jobs (http://jobsearch.gov.mb.ca/jow/advancedSearch.action).
Flights are expensive ($500+) from Winnipeg, unless you use AirMiles. You absolutely should not have to do an in person interview to get hired; a phone interview should suffice.
Poverty and drug usage is widespread, although mostly in the Aboriginal community. As long as you don't wander the streets or back alleys at questionable hours of the night, you should be fine. There is a visible police presence as well.
As Thompson is connected to Winnipeg via rail and a reasonably well-maintained highway, food and gas costs are not that much higher up here. Good housing and rentals are expensive (although cheaper than Toronto!).
Best of luck if you decide to move here. My wife and I plan on staying a few years, after which we hope to move somewhere warm!
The waste storage issue at Pinawa goes waaaay back. A "concerned citizen" (Walter Robbins) even wrote a book <em>Getting the Shaft</em> to argue against the notion.
When I see spots with a plug it usually means 1 outlet goes for each spot on either side.

Or if you don't want to fiddle around with my old code, just buy one of these: https://www.amazon.ca/DEWENWILS-Digital-Electrical-Programmable-Grounded/dp/B01HVCQE68/ref=asc_df_B01HVCQE68?tag=bingshopdesk-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=80608037717357&hvnetw=o&hvqmt=e&hvbmt=be&hvdev=c&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=&hvtargid=pla-4584207582493789&psc=1 or something like it, and program it to turn off and on quickly every couple of hours
I switched to Cityfone about a month ago. It’s the exact same service as Rogers, im very pleased with it. I would recommend it. What I did is I ordered a temporary number with them and tested it out first before porting in. Here’s a recent speedtest I did on them https://www.speedtest.net/my-result/i/3874353718

One party consent also applies to phonecalls.
If you're on Android this is incredibly useful when talking to employers on the phone. Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

Wool (smartwool is nice, but there are less expensive brands of decent wool socks out there), and if you have some extra cash, a nice pair of sheepskin insoles.
If it's really cold (can't feel your feet at all cold), they also make these things
