Every once in awhile I like to go in google news and do two searches

"marijuana"

"alcohol"

then skim through the headlines.

The herb ones are various medical marijuana articles, busts of illegal grow ops, busts of mmj growups, break-ins to dispensaries/legitimate mmj places, and the occasional parent smoking weed around an infant.

Alcohol - famous people driving drunk, fatal accidents, stats like alcohol kills 2.5 million per year, high school/college binge drinking, and local/state articles about minor changes to alcohol laws/taxes.

In the type of brain cancer that THC looks promising, it induces apoptosis in tumor cells via the endoplasmic reticulum stress pathway. It doesn't use CB1 or CB2 receptors. The ER stress pathway is activated by things "such as calcium depletion, protein misfolding, and impairment of protein trafficking to the Golgi…" Cancer cells have all sorts of abnormalities that can trigger that sort of response. THC interacts with one of the proteins that pathway makes, and amplifies the signal to the cell that something is wrong. That's just an example of how THC can be selective. It can might effect other cancers through different pathways involving CB1 or CB2 receptors. Cancers are very diverse, so it's hard to generalize.

It's sickening to think of how many "special" areas our corrupt politicians have passed laws about.

Forget about the nearly 2/3 of the entire US population that lives inside the "constitution free zone"; many weed smokers live within 1000' of a school but do not hang outside the school trying to sell weed to kids. But that is the automatic assumption of these moronic laws. Those people living near a school could be subject to similar extra-draconian punishments as this woman.

I would highly suggest investing in a vacuum sealer. I got mine refurbed for $26 shipped from a deal on www.meh.com which admittedly is a bit cheaper than usual but you can find them for around $50 and they generally include a roll that's several feet long and enough to make a ton of bags.

Once vac sealed then place inside the jar in a dark place and it will be insanely safe, literally about as good as you could ever ask.

Basically to ensure potency and no oxidation you want to have as little air as possible and that's why you need a vacuum sealer because it sucks it all out. There is no other way to do this properly asides from maybe a nitrogen wine preserving spray which is expensive and disposable.

If you don't want to take them out of their original bags I would suggest leaving them open before you vac seal them so the vac will remove the air from the original bags as well.

As a medical marijuana and politics podcaster, how do I or folks like me convince the silent majority (those who quit using pot for career/family rasing/reputation/status/non-users in general) to be bigger advocates for us, particularly those of us who consume for medical reasons? It seems like most folks are fine with cannabis in theory, but still want to distance themselves from it for the above reasons. Like anyother movement, we can't do it all on our own. It seems that other movements were able to get allies more involved in advocacy. Thanks in advanced!

RI's has introduced a bill to legalize. It would be the first state to legalize via the legislature, and the Governor says he'll sign it. Word is - if it makes it out of committee it will probably pass.

Alaska is likely to legalize in a ballot referendum.

Oregon is a stretch, but a referendum will probably make it to ballot. The out come will likely depend on how much people like the upcoming changes to the medi marijuana system. A lot of people liked the no rules, california style medical system they had, but we'll see.

Hawaii is also a possibility for legislative legalization, but that's a stretch for 2014. More likely they'll do it after someone else does. Though they were the first state to legalize medical mj via legislature.

The best way I can describe it is a falling away of the judging/classifying/interpreting part of the brain. There is only experience. My guess is that Jill Bolte Taylor's experience was close. I think mine was too, though it wasn't a stroke.

1. seeds dont contain thc. but if seeds get wet they can lose germination quality (or they might even germinate).

I've been using this Kozo grinder for about a year and a half. I would give it aa recommendation for a 20 dollar grinder. The screen came a little loose in mine, but I was rinsing it out with acetone so it was probably my fault.

I'm only on my 2nd grinder ever so I can't really give a credible review. I've been using Kozo grinder which is super cheap ($23 or so in the US) and works ok for me. No matter what you buy, start early keeping it clean with a small stiff brush. Don't let your grinder get gummed up with too much resin.

I only used iso and salt for years and years because i convinced myself it works as good as orange chronic. It does not. Orange chronic brought my nasty beaker back to 95% where as my own iso mix could maybe bring it back to 80.

Now i use orange chronic once a week and it keeps my bong near perfect. If i put the bowl in a small container and shake it around in orange chronic, scrape the resin and shake once more. 99% back to normal. No one's mention that the butane from a lighter has the ability to change the quality of a hit. That for say the solution to this is using a hemp wick. This provides a much smoother, less heat intensive hit when smoking regular bud. The added benefits from the hemp wick also result in a better taste. I have interviewed two Floridan MMJ patients for my podcast & they seem to think that Florida DOES have 60%+ support, especially with the no smoke drama the Florida GOP has pulled. Plus, the elderly are huge consumers of the program there.

Ohio had a drug decrim bill crash and burn last year. Their current MMJ rollout is a mess so I wouldn't rule out them legalizing rec, but it does seem like Ohio is becoming redder, imo.

Do you live in a large city? Probably not; country cops are nothing more than revenue generators.

Imagine you are a cop with real public safety issues to deal with, then reconsider "how many officers are going to take that option."

Given the option to pursue a person possessing cannabis or a person murdering another person, which would an officer of the public safety choose?

No cop with true public safety concerns at hand would spend the time investigating, booking, arresting, and testifying against an individual for possession of cannabis. This is why there are so many possession cases thrown out in Chicago. The CPD has more pressing matters to attend to, like, as for just one example, ridiculous murder rates. Or fraud, maybe. Or robbery. Or, well, really anything that poses less danger than smoking a fucking bowl, which, in the face of death, even for a cop, becomes pretty insignificant.

So, yes, I suppose in those contexts where police merely exert power to generate revenue, such a measure as proposed by Mr. Emanuel might seem ineffectual. But let me tell you: if you give the CPD the option not to prosecute citizens that possess cannabis, they'll take that option in a fucking heartbeat.

Yeah man it's really tough to smoke indoors and not have the indoors smell. You'd be better off smoking outside if it's possible but then you still have the issue of the pipe being smelly. Warm pipes are smellier so inhale through the pipe a lot after to cool it down and thoroughly clear the air. You can find water tight seal containers designed for camping that can work well to store a pipe in a way that hugely reduces its residual smelliness...but then you have to be careful about where you open it. I took knowledge I gleaned working in a MIP kitchen here in Denver to create the following recipe:

4 grams cannabis extract (I prefer 2:1 THC:CBD stuff, but tweak to your preference)

~bake at 250F for about 60 minutes or until all bubbling stops

dissolved wax in 1/4 cup coconut oil

add 2/3 cup water to saucepan

add infused oil to saucepan

add 1 oz (4 packets) powdered gelatin - add slowly while whisking to dissolve chunks

add 16 oz flavored gelatin (I prefer raspberry Jell-O)

I purchased these molds with droppers to make my gummies. I've found my recipe almost perfectly utilizes all 4 molds, depending on how thoroughly I fill them.

place molds in freezer for ~1hr or until completely set.

store in fridge.

With this recipe, my edibles usually come out to ~25mg (depending on strains chosen) total cannabinoids.

Soil vs. hydro is really just personal preference. Whichever you're most comfortable with is the way you should go.

For lights in a small personal supply grow, I subscribe to the "cheap and disposable" philosophy. I personally happily use the cheap Chinese LED grow lights (just an example, not a recommendation of that specific product or seller) you can get all over the place for ~$50-70, along with a full spectrum 400w HPS in my 5x5 tent. 2 of those work at least as well as the $300 Mars II 900 (plus the 400w HPS) I used until a lightning strike murdered it and are enough to cap my light needs (I tried adding a 3rd LED and got a lot of light bleaching).

As for smell, a properly installed carbon filter and a fan powerful enough to create negative pressure in the tent will eliminate most of the odor. Of course, every time you open the tent once the smell cranks up, your house is gonna reek for an hour or two. There's really no practical way to completely stealth a home grow. But it'll keep the smell from being a issue most of the time and your neighbors should only catch an occasional whiff rather than being constantly gassed out.

Idk about blunts, but I do know joints.

For joints, the #1 mistake that I've learned not to make is to roll it/pack it too tightly. If you roll it or pack it too tightly, that joint will be running like a mf. It took some time for me to feel what is an overly packed joint.

Basically, if you squeeze it and it doesn't budge nearly at all from how tight it is, it will start running.

To avoid this problem, I do this: After I roll the joint, I twist 1 end. If I feel that it is too tight, I start rolling the joint in my fingers to loosen it, it's okay if a little weed falls out. It is kind of difficult for me to describe when a joint is not overly packed/too tightly rolled but also not "loose" either.

Again, basically if your joint is so tight that it feels like a candle stick and will not "give" when you squeeze it, you need to do the loosening technique. An under-packed joint should be obvious as weed will be able to slide up and down the joint.

Here is the joint roller that I use. It took some practice to learn how to roll good joints that weren't too tight or too skinny, but once I learned how to roll joints well with this, I never rolled by hand again.
