I thought the Moto E used a Micro SIM. Do you have an iPhone 5 or newer? Chances are you have a Nano SIM and you need a Micro SIM.
If you happen to have an older phone around or know someone who does that takes a Micro SIM, you could take that with you to a Verizon store. They would give you a Micro SIM that you can then switch to the Moto E. Or you can purchase an adapter like this.
It's likely your phone struggling to either get a GPS signal or cell signal. My G5 Plus had the same thing happen when it was on Sprint. (Also had the phone get quite hot, like 100°+ normally and even hotter when charging) I would still submit it to Motorola, taking up 60% of the battery is not remotely normal.
EDIT: Use Wakelock and see exactly what the culprit is. Here's a link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.thedarken.wl
EDIT: Yep, now I'm seeing it on my device. 15% so far.
Yes! Exactly what I was looking for. That worked well. I also tried this one which worked in the Groove app for me: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aek.changesong&hl=en
Glad to know I'll get some use out of this device after all!
It will only work if you copy the NON-HLOS.bin original modem from 5.0.2 (you can also find it here https://mega.nz/#F!rMIhDLgR!oq5Cz_XbgZLEEysmqoYtcA). The rest should be exactly the same yes. You should reroot it afterwards again, or at least flash supersu
1257 or 1527?
this is probably the best collection and it has xt1527 6.0 available, among others
Have you tried grabbing a stock rom and just flashing that to get a working device for the moment? Here are some stock roms which I have not tested. If you are using the the XT1526 boost variant this worked for me.
I'm looking into the CM rom currently to see if I can get it working but it will be a bit before I am confident enough to test some stuff.
I bought 3 different cases, and the only one that fit my XT1768 model perfectly was the Spigen Rugged Armor case. It's also the only case that I've been able to find that is produced by a "well-known" brand. I don't remember exactly what the 2 other cases were called, but one had 2 headphone jack cutouts because the American and European/Latin American versions have headphone jacks in different locations, and the other straight up only had the headphone jack cutout for the European version. Thank Jesus for easy Amazon returns.
Have this one

If it says that it is a Verizon phone, it is likely locked to the carrier. It would be better for you to buy the unlocked version which can be used on any major US carrier.
I use this as a car charger but it's not as fast as the iPad charger when I use it to charge inside the house. https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Charger-PowerDrive-iPhone-Galaxy/dp/B00VH84L5E
Why is that or what car charger is comparable?
:(
I even tried Google's SafetyNet API test. Used this app to check status of SafetyNet on my device:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.scottyab.safetynet.sample&hl=en
it seems to have passed the test, since it says "SafetyNet request: success Response validation: success CTS profile match:true" What else could possibly be causing this problem? :/
The Motorola Update Services app is now enabled to be updated for the Moto E.
Also, now is a good time to check if all your Motorola apps are updated through Google Play. I was surprised when my Camera, Gallery, and Radio had updates but it didn't automatically update.
