Things NMS has added for free: VR, cross-platform and co-op play, adopting and breeding creatures, land and sea vehicles, freighters and fleets, and multiple gameplay modes. They've also overhauled the visuals dozens of times and enhanced base-building, world / creature / ship generation and variety, and collectables. I spent $50 on the game 4 years ago and it's remade itself several times over since I bought it, all for free.

Idk. I'd much rather read the notes from ... Hello games rather than give revenue to some shitty youtube video.

Also agreed on the before pic. It's like they snapped that from the non-next gen consoles right before it actually loaded the textures, total charade.
No. That's just something people assumed to be the case. Originally, it was announced simply as a "next-gen title". Listen to Sean Murray saying the exact same thing at the end of this video:
"- So we're kind of doing a console debut on PS4, we're super interested about PC but we haven't made any announcements about that yet."
If you want a bit more proof that it's not a PS4 exclusive, the IGN article (and also a bunch of other articles too) says "console debut", not "console exclusive". Two different things.
Also, Joe Danger and Joe Danger 2: The Movie (the only games developed by Hello Games so far excluding Joe Danger Touch which is on iOS) have been released on PS3 first, then to PC a few weeks later.
Halloween update with derelect upgrades, harder mobs and a new form of currency for Halloween costumes and new base parts, details are on the website https://www.nomanssky.com/2020/10/halloween-update/
~~I read it again, it seems that the only discrepancy is that /u/Wild_Loose_Comma thinks you respawn back at your ship and I think you respawn on some uninhabited planet with all progress lost when you die.~~
~~Unless I missed a source, aren't we just interpreting the same information in two different ways? I think it's permadeath and /u/Wild_Loose_Comma thinks it's not that harsh...~~
Did Murray say something in an interview I missed?
EDIT: The problem was I didn't read this and /u/Wild_Loose_Comma did. There is no permadeath is No Man's Sky, you respawn at your ship after you die when on foot without the resources you collected since your last check in at the ship.
Well we are currently on Expedition 4 and the Vector is no longer attainable sorry. The Lastest Update is v3.7 make sure you're up to date.
They have release notes on their website. It looks like most of this patch was dedicated towards fixing a variety of game-crashing bugs.
According to this page you can get some missions to hatch one. I'm certainly not that far along but it's got me thinking I need to work further into my missions.

I also saw mentioned if buying them (like other ships) but I can't confirm any of this.
I just bought via https://www.greenmangaming.com/ for $47.99. I checked around for awhile and didn't find anything negative about them, and I got my key and am installing the game now. Feel free to look it up yourself.
We don't know for sure, but when they announced VR, Hello Games wrote: "We are excited for that moment when millions of players will suddenly update and be able to set foot on their home planets and explore the intricate bases they have built in virtual reality for the first time." - Source.
To me that sounds like, start from where you last saved and enjoy what you know - of course, biomes and terrain might change and, in the worst case, effect your base by new stuff growing through the walls and floors, but a total reset is unlikely imo.
When I went through the patch notes, I didn't see anything about coloring ships. The only appearance customization I found was character models and tbh I found the colors to be lackluster at best. But I'll drop the patch notes I read to you for NEXT and see what we can find.
