Toddler parent life pro tip: don't buy a squatty potty. Buy a toddler stepstool and use it til kiddo is old enough to need it. The only risk is that your kid will scold you: "No Mama, that not for your feet! That for me to stand on!"
So we went to Buy Buy Baby yesterday to just start looking (but plan to register at target instead). I got my free gift: one bottle, a pampers sample, some breastfeeding things, some sample lotions/wipes, and 2 “baby on board” signs. Which I immediately threatened to put on our cars because DH hates them (no offense to anyone) lol. Living in California we don’t need to add any additional reasons for car break ins.
Also ordered my Amazon registry item so I can get that gift. I found 2 cute storybooks about a dog learning about a new best friend and they look adorable! Will use them for the photo announcement too. book 1 and book 2
Sleeping gowns! My son slept in these every night for the first 6 months or so. No snaps or buttons for middle of the night diaper changes! Just pull up, change, pull down, done.
I bought these maternity jeans and wore them to Costco yesterday and the way the denim cuts makes me feel like I’m wearing extremely low slung jeans a la Britney in 2002.
Also after two nights of crying in bed (depression and anxiety) I took a mental health day from work yesterday and it was the best decision I’ve made in ages. I stayed in bed until almost noon, my husband bought donuts (it was his day off) and I had energy to do some basic cleaning around the house.
I just wanted to share what's been helping my pregnancy carpal tunnel in case anyone is suffering from it like I am. I went from my hands randomly falling asleep to waking up all night long in pain with my hands completely asleep, and not getting blood flow back to them for at least 10 minutes at a time.
I bought 2 of these splints along with Biofreeze which I put on right before bed. So far they've been great and I've only woken up a couple of times when my arm was in a really weird position. Ice also works when they start throbbing during the day. Pregnancy is fun! 😆
I loved those when I was little!
There's another brand that makes basically the same thing, possibly even better: https://www.amazon.com/Torie-Howard-Organic-Flavor-Variety/dp/B00NX4T4AM/ The Pink Grapefruit is the closest match for the old clementine altoids. I think Whole Foods sells them in person
I stayed home for a year after my first was born. I never used/needed a pump but I did have a Hakaa. It basically "pumped" milk from the breast my baby wasn't feeding from. I then had a small freezer stash that my husband used if I was out. It worked well for us. I didn't have supply issues that can be helped by pumping though.
I will say that supplementing with formula is not a big deal either. It really depends on what you are happy with.
I recommend looking into a PharMeDoc one, the one I got has a cooling cover (which is a GAME CHANGER compared to the Jersey cover on my last one) and has a detachable side. It’s U shaped with it attached, which I use as back support and it’s amazing, but if you don’t end up liking that you could remove it and have a roughly L shaped one that will support your leg and belly and still have a place to rest your head too. I’ll link the one I got so you can see but I saw in your flair you’re in Germany so it may not work.
Like you, big pregnancy pillows never seemed to work for me. I found them impossible to get comfortable with, and felt like it was dominating my bed (I'm also the type who only sleeps with one flat pillow under my head in non-pregnant times, so I really just felt swallowed by it).
I did find a knee pillow to be super helpful for hip and lower back pain. I started using it toward the end of my second trimester last time, and I'm 14 weeks and already using it now. It really helps with spinal alignment, and keeps me firmly on my side. It's worth a shot! Knee pillow
You don't necessarily need something to keep you off your back/stomach. It'll just be uncomfortable to lie that way when you should stop. I don't like big pillows either, but I've used a neck pillow like this between my knees for hip pain, or kind of wrap my boppy under my belly when it gets really big.
You might want to check out this one! It gets great reviews (it's the NYT pick for an affordable but good chair) and it's similar to the one I got :) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06Y3PGPYN/
I think my normal swimsuits would work for hanging around the pool and stuff—most of my two pieces are the standard style that have an adjustable top and don’t really cover the midsection at all. But I got a maternity swimsuit off Amazon because I’m hoping to do some swim exercises at the gym and I can’t imagine flopping around in a big belly and a tiny bikini lol. The maternity swimsuit is ADORABLE, it’s this one: SWEETBUMP Maternity Swimsuit Two Piece Ruffled Top High Waisted Bottoms Vintage Swimwear Bikini Set Bathing Suits https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08SM2W711/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_1D4HNXH1BKDJ0RCDHZ8V?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I’m a FTM too but so far my goal has been to acquire a small number of items that will make the rest of my clothing work. For casual wear Ive bought: a pair of under bump shorts, two maternity tank tops in different colors, one dress and a pair of maternity leggings.
For work wear I’m considering buying one pair of work appropriate black maternity slacks, and two belly bands (for converting other pants), and a more work-appropriate maternity dress.
I’m hoping the loose tops, skirts and maxi dresses I already own will work with these things! I don’t want to just size up though because I feel self-conscious about my bump already already so I’m worried about looking frumpy rather than pregnant.
I dug this ugly belt out today! I bought it postpartum for the big ol stretchy jeans I was wearing, but it's also perfect for unbuttoning your jeans if, like me, the hair tie trick makes you look sloppy.
Even early on when I wasn’t having morning sickness I kept waking up middle of the night on the edge of throwing up. No other symptoms just extreme nausea. I realized after the second time it was actually reflux and not morning sickness! I take two gaviscon advance tablets before falling asleep and it seems to be working.
This is the medication, it’s safe for use in pregnancy at least in the UK where it’s approved! It works SO well, especially compared to the US version.
Haven't seen that yet!
As for Valentine's Day plans, we're celebrating with our toddler with heart balloons, making cupcakes, and getting a decadent Indian takeout feast with all our favorite dishes. I'm giving my husband massage oil to use together, and this memory book on Amazon: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/1462121896
I got these bras on amazon per someone else's recommendation in the pregnancy group. My boobs will not stop growing and these bras have been a lifesaver! So comfy, no stupid underside and they hold the ladies in really well. Plus when the baby comes they're nursing bras! Also they're so cheap I'm ordering more. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077X9LZXB/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_60E3NF6RCJH5JDG1VM5M?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I love the birthstone idea, I would love to get something like that from my partner haha.
While the birthstone month may be close, you could always consider a necklace of the baby's zodiac sign maybe? Those change mid-month a lot so you may be safer in the middle there if you are early or late in the month.
I've seen some really cute ones of the constellations online, here is an example.
This is another good go to moisturizer for me and cheaper - Purpose Dual Treatment Moisture Lotion with SPF 10, 4 Ounce Bottle https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00ITSN3UE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_S8V445KPHFK436TGR3QJ?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1. You can probably find it at drug stores, target, etc.
Awwwww! Rapunzel is a great princess to meet, one of my favs, so sweet. Get your son a harness backpack w/ leash and teach him to hold your hand, with the leash looped on your wrist for back-up. Worked great for both of my kiddos (we do farmer's markets and stuff a lot) and as a Disney World bonus, it's perfect to put trading pins on!
Certainly! It was actually one someone else in the group recommended, I just happened to pick the one with the cooling cover and it’s amazing. My last pregnancy pillow had a jersey cover that slept super hot, which sucked for summer. This is the one I got from Amazon.
These are life: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077XB3518/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I'm such a happier camper now.
I went through the same thing last week. Ordered these from Amazon and I could literally sleep in them. So comfortable! I haven't figured out a solution for working out but since I am only walking the dog at this point I have been okay without one. I can always squeeze back into a sports bra for necessary if the energy magically comes to me.
This ice roller from Amazon has been awesome. I keep in my freezer and run along not only forehead but sinuses and back of neck.
Link here.
I just got this off Amazon. They are small and don’t hurt to swallow at all but a little hard to get down because they aren’t coated and do have an edge.
Try looking into B6 lozenges like Preggie Pops with B6!
I bought this dress recently: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073ZBZF5G/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I am 5'4", ~150lb and I got a size medium. On my hourglass body, it's form fitting in the chest, quite loose in the belly (but I have zero bump so far, lol), and comfortable in the hips/thighs, and it hits just above the knee. I like it, I actually might buy another one!
I commented on another thread with a similar question this week, I got these on amazon because I'm on the end of 36 DD and spilling over now and only 15.5 weeks. These bras are soft, don't dig, have no underwirer but somehow hold my ladies in and even come with extenders to make the part that goes around bigger as your body changes. The best part is they're nursing bras! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077X9LZXB/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_671BVKBJGWTD495VJBKE?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I have already bought a couple sets of these v neck t shirts from Amazon. They are delightfully long enough to cover maternity jeans or my rear end in leggings - although I'm pretty short so that helps
They've updated the Medela pump in style, btw. It's now a closed system. The pump and externals are different now. I'll probably try that this time if insurance will cover, since I still have my pump from 2 years ago. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B086TBFCZV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_ERHPA1TNC2A2Z537RRX8?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 This is the listing on Amazon, the 2020 version is what's in stores as well.
My husband bought this one for our home office before either of us started to work from home. It’s soooo comfortable I’m pretty sure I’m gonna steal it. Since he gets the office (I’m set up in the kitchen), I think I should get the good chair. It’s only fair!

I'm a back sleeper as well but noticed this week that I've been naturally going to my side now. I ordered this one from Amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002E7DIQ/ref=ox_sc_saved_image_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1 but based on how I've been self-correcting, I might not even need it!
We are using this - it is a full-size pack n play, but with a side that lowers to act as a bedside cosleeper as well.
These are so soft and they come with an extender for the back as things continue to grow. They're nursing friendly and inexpensive and have held up good in the wash. I'm going to buy my 3rd set. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077XB3518/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I bought some under the bump underwear last pregnacy and it was honestly the best pregnacy purchase I've ever made. I toughed it out with my regular panties with my first, sizing up when I out grew them, but they were soooo uncomfortable after my bump popped.
I think I’m going with this one.. I like the wheels since I think I’ll be spending a lot of time with him in the living room.

I use Nordic Naturals Prenatal DHA and love them. It is two full sized capsules, so it can be tricky if your having gag reflex issues. I've found that unlike basically all the other stuff I have to take, taking these in the morning works best?!? Another pregnacy is weird thing I guess.
With my eldest I took only my prenatal (no DHA) and ate nothing but watery fruits for the first four months (watermelon, strawberries and kiwis mostly). I wasn't able to handle any form of protein until the second trimester and even then it was limited to peanut butter and legumes. I wasn't able to handle meat of any kind until the last month of my pregnancy. You're fine.
Folic acid and DHA seem to be the big ones, but since your diet is limited a good multi/prenatal vitamin is always helpful. That is mostly for you though, your baby will steal what it needs from you regardless because at this point they don't really need much.
Oh, if it matters, this is what I am currently taking... my best friend is a nutritionist, and she recommended these and takes them, so I just followed her lead and didn't look much more into it
https://www.amazon.com/INNATE-Response-Formulas-Prenatal-Postnatal/dp/B01M7ME3FE
I loved these my last pregnancy and throughout breastfeeding. They have an extra band extender which was a life saver for me.
These Hanes ones are amazingly soft and comfy but best to wear around the house (I’d need more structure and support when going out):
Hanes Women's Get Cozy Pullover ComfortFlex Fit Wirefree Bra MHG196 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HRFTGHI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_DJHSN2ZWM8ABQ7XRNZRV?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
These Amazon ones are amazing to sleep in and use for low impact workouts. I am not really going anywhere and so I wear one almost everyday!
COMFY BRA Women's Light Support... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07XJW4K5G?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
We have a this wagon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CTUGC5K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_82F9WVHZEBBWD2PH7SV0 We got it with our second, when our first was 2. We really like it, and use it more than a stroller. I baby wore #2 for 6+ months, and only stopped regularly wearing her when the world shut down right before her 1st birthday. We still use the wagon, and will probably be able to fit 3 kids in there if necessary.
I bought both of these on Amazon and I really like them:
I have a queen sized bed and I got this pillow from Amazon. I have been using it the last 2 weeks and I love it! It doesn't take up that much room and we sleep with our 65 lb dog on the bed. I would highly recommend it!
the only downside is its harder to cuddle but I am sleeping so well soooo
I got this one and I loooove it. I don’t necessarily need it yet, but I was using a pillow between my legs anyway so this helps me not to have to flip the pillow when I switch sides. It’s super comfy and versatile.
I’ve been in my pregnancy pillow for about a week now and don’t know how I lived with it. I’m 15+3. Honestly I’d start using it as soon as you want! I got it specifically to help me not roll flat on my back in the middle of the night. I’ve used this one for my first pregnancy and now this one. Cheap, quick and I LOVE it! I do suggest taking some of the stuffing out though. It comes packed. Happy sleeping mama!
I lived in these last summer and even after baby came because it takes is long to get back to normal.

You might talk to your boss about some flexibility in the uniform while pregnant.
I found some on Amazon that aren't quite dressy shorts, but aren't denim.
I bought these and they're SO comfy and they all come with an extra extender as pregnancy goes on https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077XB3518/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I used to be rather overweight, I was kind of hoping I could just get through this entire pregnancy by just digging through old clothes that don't fit anymore?
It's all such temporary clothing to me, I say the only thing I really want to buy is some more of my favorite Thai pants I swear those are some of the most comfortable pants ever.
I went with the U shape. After searching through r/pregnancy I went with this one bc it was recommended quite a few times and the price was good for something I was skeptical about. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JR3T1G6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glc_fabc_5FWPEAPPMQXTQHBMXFMV?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Omg!!! Love that! Ok this is on my registry regarding space!:
Jellycat Astrotastic Planet Plush https://www.amazon.com/dp/B085B6KM42/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_4VQBYHAF3H03YER40QMN?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
And I totally loved this little boy outfit:
https://www.bodenusa.com/en-us/sausage-dogs-nostalgic-set/sty-y1401
It may be too cutesy old timey but I died!
I just take everything separately- it was the only way I could find to get everything I wanted. I take a SmartyPants that's only 3/day, a slow release iron (easier on the stomach), and a veggie DHA (https://www.amazon.com/Freshfield-Vegan-Omega-DHA-Supplement/dp/B07H9GL3Y8)
Must used by far:
Solly baby wrap for when kiddo won’t nap and you need to get things done.
City select stroller-I loved the options to customize but walks are life.
Laninsoh Therapearl Breast Therapy pLansing TheraPearl Breast Therapy Packack-absolutely essentially if you are breastfeeding. Saved me so much pain and discomfort at the start.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JR3T1G6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glc_fabc_F6E5AM39KJ4PJT7KSV1K?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 someone else had recommended this one and being able to get it through Amazon so quickly made it my top choice
Ugh - same. I don’t do a ton of cardio workouts, but before pregnancy could wear any bra and not have any pain while jumping rope, doing HIIT, etc.
I got this bra for my cardio days Champion Women's Motion Control... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DFYW38R?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
It feels very secure - it’s definitely not as comfortable as I’m used to but it gets the job done. Will follow this thread too to see if there are better options!
I’m a similar size and I bought these on Amazon and have honestly been wearing them already.
AZMED Maternity Belt, Breathable Pregnancy Back Support, Premium Belly Band, More Than 1.3M Happy Mothers, Lightweight Abdominal Binder, One-Size (Beige) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0113WE0QS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_T261NAB0YG789YDJ68Y3?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I have this one, and I call it my wrestling belt. Yeah, it’s huge but helped so much with back pain during the second/third trimester.
I have the snoogle, which is great but I’m 5’7 and I think it may be less comfortable at your height (because it curves). A firm body pillow is a good idea, but I also wanted to suggest just a firm pillow for between your knees. I got one pre-pregnancy for sciatica and hip pain and it’s been great. This is the one I have Everlasting Comfort Memory Foam Knee Pillow with Adjustable and Removable Leg Strap, White https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07995B8L1/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_4W8EY922ZGJWATXFWQV1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I get migraines and an ice roller has been a life saver for when cold washcloth etc don’t help.
This is one from Amazon is what I have: link.
I keep it in my fridge freezer and it really helps for both forehead and back of neck.
I haven't been through this before, but I just bought some inexpensive maternity/nursing bras, and I like them! Here's the link: maternity/nursing bras. I felt like these were cheap enough that I wouldn't be too annoyed if I end up only wearing them for part of the pregnancy.
I'm 5'4", 145 - 150lb, and normally I wear a 36B/34C (although admittedly I've only worn sports bras & bralettes during COVID WFH, lol). I got a size large bc medium was sold out, and it fits pretty well on the tightest setting, with plenty of room to grow.
I sometimes sleep in a loose bralette (but not a regular, tighter-fitting bra) if I'm particularly tender.
Not ginger chews, but I just ordered B6 preggie pop drops which are supposed to be good for nausea. https://www.amazon.com/Preggie-Pop-Drops-Vitamin-Sickness/dp/B00XLUV4E2/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=b6+preggie+pop+drops&qid=1613846165&sr=8-4
This pair by Kindred Bravely! They’re so comfy!
Ooh, that boost sounds amazing. I’ll have to give it a try. I haven’t explored it too much yet, but so far I’m enjoying it.
https://www.amazon.com/Italian-Volcano-Organic-Lemon-Bottle/dp/B00D8I9E9O You might be able to get it for cheaper at a food co-op or health food store. I swear it's more delicious than the cheapo stuff that comes in a plastic bottle, but maybe it's just the quirky packaging. 😆
