So you weren't aware that the hand-tracking module is an add-on to any of the 3 HMD versions shown to you there, it is not used for the HMDs tracking nor was it a BE-only thing. So you said at the beginning of the video that it wasn't even worth considering and was pretty bad, please do fill us in on why you came to that conclusion... You said it had tracking issues, but they all use the same tracking.

Those are all offerup.com listings locally but so far none of them have responded to an in person meetup request, so maybe (likely) scammers at those prices.
Annoying. I agree, but Valves decision, not on Pimax. I used this off Amazon, and I love it. You can get cheaper sets too:

PRQ^2 = SVRSS
Example: Starting from 1.0 PRQ and 100% SVRSS.
If you reduce PRQ to 0.5 and increase SVRSS to 400%, they cancel each other out in both looks and performance. I've tested it.
0.5^2=0.25 (=25%)
0.25*4=1 (=100%)
NOLO on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073QL4J61/
Just my opinion, but NOLO is trash and putting it on a Pimax is like having a Ferrari and pissing in the gas tank. NOLO is basically like PSVR levels of tracking, but worse, because it requires tons of fiddling (just like Pimax does).
I mean, hey, why not a SKU with a friggin Power Glove or something?
Edit: Here’s a pretty good idea what the Artisan will look like.
I made a rough sketch of approximate Pimax geometry in Blender, using the MeasureIt add-on to determine the diagonal field of view for a 200 by 100 degree field of view. That's not exactly the size the Pimax will have, but it demonstrates the diagonal is smaller (193) when the horizontal surpasses 180. They're also very close to equal because we're close to that flipping angle.
That does work well - I also have coated my lenses with this protective product. It really makes them easier to clean. I have used it on three sets of Pimax Fresnel lenses.

I bought it and regretted the purchase. Same thing i did with my oculus rift. The material they use actually makes me sweat more. But i did find a sweat wicking material one on amazon for $25 for 2 of them. The only issue is that i dont like the fact that it’s 6mm as well. It feel hard on my face. I like the material but its too thin for me. Here’s the one i bought that i felt was better than the material on the vr cover and its about 6mm thin as well. OP :
it says for 8KX. maybe they'll ship it to you?
Something like this after a quick scan of the specs and directions and hz and resolutions SEEMS like it will work so long as you don't run your 5Ks higher than 120hz. You will however need a displayport coupler since you will end up with 2 male DP ends.

Hi!
I'm currently using this repeater with the 8KX, so maybe I can help answer some of your questions:
1. It works for me, super happy it does! No snow, no issues on the largest fov (though I'm using the upscaler)
2.PC to repeater is 3 meter. it's this cable https://www.amazon.de/dp/B08ZN68G16/ref=pe_27091401_487027711_TE_SCE_dp_1
Using the stock cable between the repeater and hmd
The only issue I have is that the power supply cable to the repeater is 1.5 meter, though I guess that would be easily solved with a power supply cable extension

Can I ask you a question too? I'm on my second 8kX as I rma-ed the first one with some bright red and blue dead pixels. Now I received a replacement HMD, but again it has some (luckily less bright) dead pixels. So now I'm curious if I should just accept that a pimax 8KX has dead pixels or if I should request another replacement.
I talked to u/Known-Pen-1784 today and he said his is working fine at 90hz native!
I am buying the same cables and repeater he has and hoping will have the same success. I'm in the US and the repeater unfortunately is only showing available from UK so I'll have a bit to wait on it to arrive.
Repeater: LINDY Extend DisplayPort 1.4 UHD Signals Over Distances up to 35m ASIN B086WWJ6KF
USA: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B086WWJ6KF
That looks way too big for 350-650mah, unless I'm looking at a different battery than you.
I'm looking at the bottom right area of the second photo and it looks more like 8500mah:
https://www.amazon.com/10Pcs-Rechargeable-Battery-8500Mah-Discharging/dp/B0711SSDQR
Just to follow up, I ended up buying this kit https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08NVY1SXV/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1
The M1.7*5 screw in that set fits to secure the earpiece. I am able to enjoy the KDMAS once again.
If you're up to a little modding, you might want to try the Vive DAS. Much more stable!
I didn't use the headstrap that came with my 8kX for very long: I learned to use the Vive DAS with the OG Vive and I've never found a better solution. That includes the audio. It does require that you either pay to have an adapter 3D printed or print your own as the plans are available. I think it was around $15 for the adapter, including shipping.
I think I have the solution for you..it might sound strange, but it’s worked for me.
I bought a pair of 0.5kg ankle weights:
USINGFIT Ankle Weights Set for... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08M5VBZ6N?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I then used some additional Velcro and strapped one of them across the strap that goes across the back of your head.
This balances the weight of the headset, and it stays put with the minimum of tightening of the strap.
I use my Pimax for up to 2h every night and this has made it very comfortable to use.
Hope that’s helpful
The only viable solution that I have found is replacing the OEM 3 plug pimax cable with a 2 plug amazon replacement, this is what I think worked for me and then after I posted about it, 2or 3 other people said this fixed it for them too.
Yes its showing for me just fine, maybe different if you are outside the United States - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08N45DSBS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
a lot of people (including myself) are finding that purchasing this $139 pimax 8kx replacement cable from Amazon is fixing this problem. So far no official fix from pimax or nvidia --> https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08N45DSBS/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_search\_asin\_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
People have told me to use Peace EQ or Voicemeter to make the Mic louder, but for whatever reason it never likes to listen to Peace EQ and Voice Meter tends to make everything crackly for me.
I've almost given up hope and am tempted to buy something like this to plug into the USB-C port: Saramonic Phone Microphone for USB-C Devices- Omni-Directional Condenser Android Shotgun Mic for Video Recording- Professional Microphone for Samsung, iPad Pro, Google Pixel https://www.amazon.com/dp/B089CQ19ML/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apan_i_KKS64JZYAP3ZGV70DYZ0
I have a 3080 so hopefully I should be fine on that front. I ended up bitting the bullet and bought the £60 Lindy display port repeater (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B086WWJ6KF/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_C0FARM15WHB2ZRYXDH0V) Which I've heard works with (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07J2PGGFX/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_8A8CG7M496FR9D43YY4Z?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1). I'll let you know if this setup works. But in my opinion is rather expensive for extension cables.
Its comments like this that reallly make me want to buy it. I had an OG VIVE, VIVE PRO, index and quest 1. What do you play mainly to enjoy the 8kx so much? I pretty much only play DCS in vr lol but games like half life alyx and boneworks i also enjoy. Im not too sure about what the diferences between kdmas and dmas are, but i thought the dmas was rhe latest/more expesive version. Need to do some more research. The index audio is going to take some beating. This is the kdmas right???

I have an 8Kx for sim racing and you def don't need the controllers, and one Base Station is plenty enough, just get this and place it up high aiming directly at your head and you're all set.
Pimax is a pretty niche product you need to get used to modding to get things that other HMDs just have due to healthy 3rd party support.
here is a gasket that I have not because i wanted different thickness but because i wanted pleather. It is 15mm though so it might be what you're looking for.
Yeah you may be ok with 15mm, but you can also try getting something like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/VELCRO%C2%AE-Brand-ONE-WRAP%C2%AE-Plant-Garden/dp/B0784NCLX8 and layering it under where needed.
Thank you so much for your assistance! So my serial (bottom of headset) starts with 204, so it sounds like I have a 5k+. My earphones did come with cups so I think you're right there as well.
I'm having to wait for a power supply I ordered from Amazon, but that will allow me to confirm everything through pitool. I found another thread here that mentioned this one for that model so it seemed the pest pick.

I forgot to post the link to the foam padding.
I have an 8Kx running on a 3080 Ti and yes, the GPU is the bottleneck for sure, even with a 3080 Ti or 3090. But this should be solved by the RTX 4000 series later this year, judging by what I've read about the supposed huge performance gains, but it will cost us that's for sure! Anyways, I have HTC Vive Base Station 2.0 and I don't really experience any "jitter" to speak of. Maybe it's the placement/position of the Base Station relative to the headset? I have mine set about 6.5'-7' high and off to the right of my sim rig. I also have a Samsung Odyssey G9 monitor on my rig so I had to position the Base Station high enough to "see" over the monitor. I got a telescoping Base Station stand from Amazon that works great. The only time I notice any jitter is when I grab onto the headset, but I imagine that's only because my hands are impeding the tracking signal. Otherwise, it has been really stable. As long as you are only using the 8Kx for sim racing, one Base Station should be enough to keep things stable.
This used to happen to me, I ended up needing to puchase a PCI-E USB Hub and it fixed the issue.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08PF8XR73/

I 100% recommend these. They're so good I bought another one. They have lots of ports and are powered by the PCI-E slot.
I've wanted to make a post in /r/vive for a while now. To tell the community exactly where the game is now and to ask their opinion on Early Access. I feared being banned from the subreddit, though, so I stayed silent.

I originally started this game for the /r/vive community and the inability to communicate with the community has made development hard. I've thought a lot about releasing in Early Access just so I could get feedback on the game but I also know many have negative views of Early Access and that my track record as a developer is exactly what you say - inconsistent.

With the rise of /r/vive_vr I've been thinking more about making that post over there. I just don't know how the community would respond. I don't want to seem like I'm trying to take advantage of the situation for promotional purposes but I miss being involved with the community.

Along with all that, the things I'm most excited to share about the game would spoil the gameplay. It's a puzzle horror that plays heavily on the player's ability to be perceptive and think rationally while under stress. If I were to share the details of the development I would also ruin the many of the puzzle aspects of the game.

I think my decision to bring the game to Steam was a bad one and that I should have kept the game free and on itch.io. I regret that.
Update: Just got the first of my 2 Pimax headsets on order. The one I got today was a pre-owned Vision 8K+ (cloth strap before SMAS rollout I guess). This was an offerup.com purchased for $425. Very good condition and my first Pimax (I have a Quest 2 currently and awaiting ship of a new 5K Super and a preowned Valve Index Kit).
Anyway, since I don't yet have any controllers or tracking hardware, all I've done so far is intall Pitools and fire the headset up to see the default planet/sun/moon landscape scene and play with the FOV a bit. Looks great so far, although when I switch from "normal" to large FOV on that scene there doesn't appear to be any difference in FOV.
Ok I see you don't understand what the word "details" mean:
"1. a piece or item of a whole:The picture he drew was perfect in every detail."
http://www.wordreference.com/definition/detail
so he said "there are issues [with the HMD]" which is ok, if he would have said "there are specific issues with HMD especially (details:) the lens suck, the cushion has bed scent, the nose room is to small" then this would include details and therefore wouldn't be ok. (therefore breaking the NDA)
Hope this clears up your confusion, and sry for thinking that you were just looking for attention or had something bad in mind.
edit: I feel like a Bot beep boop.
A followup to my followup, I can't find the original vaporware hype, but it does seem that even in 2016 it was not destined for consumers: https://www.moddb.com/hardware/starvr/news/starbreeze-has-no-plans-for-a-starvr-consumer-headset
So I've found this: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/2836
This is likely to fix my issue when a steamvr update rolls out. Maybe It'll fix yours. There is also this other thing which might be closer to your issue, but I would think it'd be fixed by now: https://steamcommunity.com/app/450540/discussions/1/1354868867717744330/
Are you using the 5m cable on its own? If you were using two hdmi cables joined together I'd suggest a signal booster between them.
Wrong.
It would, but PRQ isn't measured in the same dimensions as SVRSS. That's why you have to square it.
It's like saying length is the same thing as area. It just isn't, physically, so you need to square the length to make it equivalent to the area.
If you double the length of both sides of a rectangle, you quadruple the area: 2^2=4
"PRQ^2" means "PRQ squared". 0.5*0.5=0.25. That's how it works compared to SVR.
It's the whole point I was making. Relative changes to PRQ have a much more drastic effect than similar changes in SVR, in terms of both visual quality and PC burden. Simply because they mean different things, where one references the linear dimension only, and the other takes the area (LxW) into account.
If it is working with other devices then is likely okay. However the the port mighr be incorrectly configured as well. You could use a Usb-c to usb adapter and maybe test a webcam to see if the webcam functions.
Like this one
Yes.

These are the ones I use.
Hey there. Not sure what you are trying to do, but generally you just need something like this.
If you are talking about polarity, you are probably going down the wrong path. USB's should be 5v, and they have both a power and ground. I think you should not move forward building your own adapter, you can cause problems connecting incorrectly.
I think maybe Pimax would need to look into the power draw, maybe people still need the power adapter vs the USB power.
Received is as part of the comfort kit, yeah. Tried it and wasn't satisfied with the fit or feel. Went with the aftermarket ones I mentioned and those are the ones I use now, with a bit of tweaking on the bottom curves to add thickness. The aftermarket ones were thicker by about 2mm as well.
Dunno, guess my face just prefers pleather to felt?
Here's a direct link to Amazon listing, although folks here have said you can also find them on Aliexpress. (think that's what it's called)

I'll second that the Index is the best 'all arounder' at the moment. Not tops for a lot of areas, but avoids being worst or bad at anything.
If you spend a little more and get the tracking/controller full setup, which frankly with your PC budget you can stretch for, you'll have something that you can update in future with just new HMDs as they arrive.
I'd love wireless too, but you have to take a big step down in quality for wireless right now in various different ways, the next gen of headsets will hopefully all be wireless or have wireless options at higher resolutions. My recommendation there is invest in a good decent quiet ceiling pulley system, I did and it's great. Get a good one don't cheap out on budget Chinese pulleys.
Oh nice! I had given up on this and ordered my own fake leather to try making one. So far that's working out ok, but is of course nowhere near as nice as this.
Thank you! I'll probably end up grabbing one of these!
The 8KX works for me with a 10meter (33 ft) optical display port cable and the same coupler that you linked. It could depend on the output strength of the displayport on your GPU whether you would need an active repeater vs the passive coupler. Can you get away with a 30 ft cable rather than 60ft? I think your chances would be much better with the 30ft. This is the one that worked for me.
If you go with stands, it's better to use poles than tripods as they take up less room and you don't have to worry about them being jostled (which requires you to re-calibrate your room) or worse, knocked over. They sell adjustable support rods that are good for that. You'll need to get a camera mount adapter adapter though.
Display port cable Repeater I know for a fact this combination works with the 5k+
Added:
I've since seen this cable by two different people. Very strange- they say the shorter version doesn't work, but the longer does. I'm ordering this tonight and will post the results
I had the same issue, IPD is around 62 but I have a thin face which I believe is the real problem. The lenses were two close to my eyes and I also wear glasses which just wouldn't fit. I pulled the headset away from my face slightly and everything improved. I bought this off Amazon and used the thicker of the two cushions and now it is pretty much perfect. woah really? That's insane...
edit- just tried, that HAS to be an error. there's no way.
There's amazon product pages for them, but not availalble yet.
Yeah, you're gonna want 2 light houses, but 1 will work in a pinch for some stuff, seated sims etc. Looks like valve sells them now, the 2.0 versions, but they're $150 each which is painful. It's still possible to just buy a cheap used OG vive kit and use the light houses and even vice wands from that to get started. That's what I did and was lucky enough to find a like-new vive setup with a DAS on Craigslist for $300.
I have the index controllers, but might bust out the vive wands again and have them nearby since not many games support the index controllers yet. A lot of games are just unplayable with them, eg fallout 4, Thumper. Over time more games should hopefully support them though. And there are apps to do custom steamvr controller overrides, I just don't like having to dick around with that kind of stuff because it's tedious and seems like doesn't work half the time.
I'd say the DAS with thicker face foam (there's a cheap Amazon version of the foam that works) is a must for comfort. Mine literally hurt to wear until I did the DAS mod and thicker facial foam. Now it's very good.
Face foam I got:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FCHYD6T/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I'm using the same one I used for my Rift and I think it feels fine, I have the Hyperkin one from Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Hyperkin-FreeStep-Management-System-playstation-4/dp/B073P7GJNP/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=hyperkin+vr+cable&qid=1571691128&sr=8-1
If I lay my headset flat on the floor (with DAS), the back of it gets pulled up a bit off the floor but it doesn't stand the headset up on its face, if that helps portray how strong it is.
I don't know, what is DSC ?
mine was this one : https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B07RJ13CH9/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I had to get a display port booster to use with the extension cable on my Valve index. This is the one that I got:

You have a bad audio jack.
You can use a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter to work around the problem.
This is one of many.
I've been wearing a cooling skull cap, similar to what american football players wear under their helmets. Run it under some water, wring it out, put it on pre race and it helps out a little keeping your head cooler.
The TLDR is that you need this one

But that even with this adapter you might get some sparkles. No guarantee of a perfect picture.
> The headset cable is a bit heavy and when you wear the headset it will naturally try to tilt a bit sideways in one direction. I fixed this by using a simple ceiling cable management system which had no problem holding the cables up and really took the weight and tilt off. Here’s what I use: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07VQZYN3M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_IkhuFb2F7NMTJ 1
I just got this as well. By far the BEST cable management system available. Tension isn't set for the weight of the Pimax cable but if you double up the retractors on the last link it works beautifully. I also added a ball-bearing pulley in place of one of the retractors. My setup now feels essentially weightless with zero pull.
DSC is Display Stream Compression and essential for the 8KX to work at native resolution.
You need to get a DSC 1.2 or above certified DP 1.4 or above extension/cable such as https://smile.amazon.de/dp/B081D38N65/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_RNJmFbKCCHG51
I believe SweViver was very clear on this when recommending extensions.
yes I have a 2m Club3d male to male DP cable. I tried it with a Club3d extension cable without the booster before and had the same snow problem with my Index. I returned that cable and got the male to male version along with the booster and it worked perfectly. I got the below cable:

Would love to hear some impressions after you get everything running well!
Try reseating the cable first, get the cable if that doesn't work. I had to replace the cable, and while I was disappointed that it wore out after a year, I'm happy to be back to a clear, snow-free experience.

>I have a 10m fiber optic dp cable with a Cablematters f to f coupler.
I've been looking into extending the displayport to another room(did this previously for the Vive with HDMI), and found the Cablematters displayport extender , I'm assuming this is the one you are using. I wasn't sure this would work at '5K' resolution/refresh rate/cable length(listed for 4K/60 @ 32').
This is good to hear, I looked into this when I got the 5K, and I remember compatible cables(this length) being hundreds of dollars.
Weight for me is a big issue so thanks to clarifing this out, for this reason i'm not even using the VIVE DAS on pimax, and i've opted for earphones, i'm using this sony model https://www.amazon.com/Sony-MDRXB510AS-Headphones-Sweatproof-Comfortable/dp/B01MTEU4V9/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=MDR-XB510AS&qid=1572688667&sr=8-2 and sound is great, not even comparable to any other headphone/earphone/earbud i have, das or logitech G series you name it.
Also Pimax has a big problem that is the distance between your eyes and the lenses, it has to be perfect, if you are too near you will get distortions all over the borders (horrible tbh, was the first impact on first use with stock cover), while if you are too far you will get fisheye effect, btw there is a perfect spot where the edge distortion is unnoticeable and the fisheye is almost 0. as you can't move in/out the lenses like you do in vive you have to find the correct spot adding/removing covers. for my face i had to use 2x vrcover tiny + 1vr cover cotton made, see photo https://imgur.com/a/fO7gW2R. This way view quality is great, i had to add some black tape on bottom as there is a big hole and the light comes in. Positive thing is also that as i am a regular beatsaber player i can wash almost everything easily when is wet.
I have to admit that PIMAX with the stock cover was very comfortable for my face, so the need to change cover was for quality reasons, not for comfort reasons, and with those covers is much less comfortable.
Maybe i just have to find another cover combination..
is the '800 new' in Pounds? if so then that sounds like it might be a 1080 Ti, the Ti is a much better card but the price is of course higher.
if the '450 used' is also in pounds then you can get a new one for just £16 more

This.
Also this is what I bought and works pretty good. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07HMZSRS7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I'd recommend an NVME drive over the regular SATA SSD you have there. Something like the WD Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07M64QXMN/ref=twister_B07XQXHPBC?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
WiFi. $33 for four switches, enough to run the headset, two lighthouses, and some fans connected to a single switch.
I'm particularly interested in new face cushions and straps, since I feel like my 8K doesn't quite sit right on my face and the image looks a bit "warped" (as if the lens correction is wrong, because of where my eyes are?). Particularly bad when turning my head, it feels like my eyes aren't in their sockets properly, haha! This is quite immersion breaking, sadly. :<

For mitigating any headphone issues, I planned to attach an extender like this ( https://www.amazon.co.uk/Extension-FosPower-4-Conductor-Auxiliary-Headphones-Gold/dp/B01552UGSS/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=3.5mm+extension+10cm&qid=1561572673&s=gateway&sr=8-3 ) to prevent so much wear on the internal headphone socket.

I've been using Kiwi Design for Vive. The 18mm is very comfy.
I just ordered this adapter to see if I can get it working. It seemed to have the highest hz rating at 4K of any adapter I could find. I should be in on Thursday so I’ll reply with my results.
How long is your extension?
I have tried multiple extensions and ran into issues with them all. Tried a 15ft active usb3, 15ft non active usb 3, 10ft non active usb3, 6ft non active usb3 and 3 ft non active usb3. All of these failed and had some issues. Either I would have issues with audio being choppy or tracking failing.
The solution to all of my issues and what let me use a 6ft usb was using a powered hub. I picked up one of these to extend the usb. I was also able to use a vive hub for the same thing.
> you STILL cant buy new individual vive controllers!
Of course you can: https://www.vive.com/us/accessory/
> im a vive owner (and now vive pro owner) thats having a panic attack everytime the use the damn thing,
Don't be a victim to self-imposed paranoia. The original controllers are very robust. I got my Vive from the original pre-order and still use it regularly. I've accidentally dropped my controllers and smacked them into the wall and ceiling fans etc countless times yet they are both still fine.
Yes, i agree.
Putting them on the desk or a shelf or anything is enough. It is very tolerant.
I bought these:

Works nearly everywhere....
5m cable is probably a lot cheaper, you would still need to add money, I'm pretty sure. ( 10m would need to be active )
Check these prices for instance
