1.) PlayOn Desktop is going NOWHERE. It's still getting updates and support and will continue to do so. This is not changing.
2.) While the PlayOn App has been discontinued, you still have access to it through at least the Google app store (again not entirely sure about the iTunes Store since I don't use Apple products personally) as long as you had downloaded to a Android device previously. If you can navigate here and access the PlayOn app on the Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.playon.playonapp
Then you still have access to the app. This basically would only affect new users going forward.
3.) As this time, the ONLY PlayOn Cloud exclusive channel is (and as far I know, is going to remain as a special one-off) is the BBC. DC Universe is getting VERY close, and it's going to be available for both Cloud and Desktop. We won't even be able to evaluate whether HBOMax or Disney + (since we get asked about it WAY more than we get asked about HBOMax) are going to be compatible with PlayOn until the services go live, but there is no reason for them to be exclusive to PlayOn Cloud either.
Strange! Indeed, the app isn't showing in the app store, so I tried going to the playon website, clicking on Android, and it brought me directly to the link. Hope this helps! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.playon.playonapp
So the HD-PVR2 has an HDMI input (no component). I picked up a PVR2 not because of HDMI but because my original PVR's recordings started having these weird flickering things and horizontal lines and color distortions. They looked kind of like a video you would have had made in a mall kiosk c. 1990. I actually bought the PVR2 over a year and a half before I upgraded my cable box which now is HDMI only.
To get around the HDCP, I did some investigating and ended up picking up a $14 (it's $23 now) HDMI splitter. I tried it and found it does work for me.
I have version 4.5.130.31291 which I downloaded 10/07/2021. I believe that was the last version released of desktop, and online places like here: https://www.filehorse.com/download-playon-desktop/old-versions/ show a version 4.5.129 released on the same day I downloaded mine. When the axe fell on Desktop they were giving lifetime purchasers 3 months free when they went to Home. So far, I'm still using Desktop until it degrades too far due to lack of support :/
Browse to https://getchannels.com/ they have a 30 day free trial. I installed their app on my Qnap NAS and set up the logins to Locast and Dish in the settings section via regular web browser. The Channels app will do the recordings that I scheduled and drop them in a folder that I specified on the Qnap. I can then watch those shows via Plex by adding that folder in my Plex TV Shows section. So far the Channels app has been quite impressive as far as performance and functions.
How would it know what it is if you are not naming them properly? The agent, which searches TheTVDB.com, returns results based upon the filename of the episode.

I use MediaRenamer to make sure my files are correctly named. It uses TheTVDB.com database. It might help. If you end up using it, in the TV Show Options you'll want to make sure it uses the proper output format. I use <series> - s<season2>e<episode2><title: - ><title> which results in a filename like Roseanne - s01e01 - Life and Stuff.

At any rate. If you don't use the proper naming structure for your files and folders, the agent can't correctly name an episode.
yes i´m with you.
TunePat downloads everything from Netflix in FullHD and all available Languages. Ok There is no Options for any selections. But you have them all. thats fine for me :-(

Back to Disney...
I guess there is only a URL Problem and nothing else.
https://www.disneyplus.com/de-de/ will deliver the German Content. But you cant´t change it.
The German Content have all Language (Russian, Spanish, English, French) and all Subtitles.
:-(
i did a quick search again and plex doesn't support but there is a workaround for emby https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/76744-iso-support/ . Here's a quote from the developer Luke "Emby can import ISO's, but your only real option to play them nowadays would be from an htpc app such as Emby Theater or Emby for Kodi. And even then it would require an external player. So it's doable, but not as seamless as plain video files. " it's a workaround but far from perfect :)
for recording anything that plays on your computer screen, I use this:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00TF9MCXU/
I've used it to record content from my directv box when I had that service. Now I have a laptop attached to our TV that we use to watch anything in a web browser - and that cloner box records it as well. In short - anything with an HDMI output for video/sound will work with this. You will want to have a USB drive (the supplied flash drive doesn't work out too well) to record onto.
It does what it says it does - for a price. But for recording content from just about anywhere - it does get the job done. You're laptop/desktop will be unavailable while this is recording - since it does require watching the content, but if you have a spare laptop lying around with HDMI output - it'll do. We use it to record mubi and many other sites that playon currently does not. Even created some playlists on amazon for xmas music, recorded them - used MP4Splitter to separate them out into separate song files and VLC to convert the mp4's into simple mp3's.
Page opens right up & I haven't even had the app installed in years, not since v4.0.7 in 2016 according to the apk.
It shows up for me, but maybe it's currently only showing up for people who already have it installed. Does this link work for you?
Ugh. That's such a non-starter for me since my "monitor" is my TV and I have no interest in leaving it on all the time. Thinking about trying a HDFury Integral or this device: https://www.amazon.com/gofanco-Prophecy-EDID-Emulator-Feeder/dp/B07SSD8VR8/ but I'd really like to know it solves the problem first. Honestly no Vudu recording isn't a deal breaker, but it would be a nice perk.
This turned out to be my fault. I use Private Internet Access (PIA), which is a VPN service, and I turned it on a few weeks ago completely forgetting that PlayOn doesn't like that. Turned PIA off and everything works fine now.

make sure to go into advanced settings and enable use of the GPU. It made a world of difference for my machines recording wise. It'll offload to the GPU a lot of work and the machine just runs better overall.
I've been using this laptop: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075N1YHVK/ and playon has been working great on it.
