I thought maybe all the good karma that I was owed over the years was finally catching up and making up for the last how many years where my kids only got candy and soda for christmas when i was able to qualify for foodstamps and buy it for free.

First and foremost: I don't need anything. I'm super fortunate and thankful for what I have. I'm super glad I get to be a Mod here and see all of the Christmas magic take place.

Second: my wish list is full of boring things because alas, my body hates me and I'm in the middle of a flare up and can't eat, well, much of anything.

November 5th I was in a car accident and my medical bills are already getting high, that day we also moved into a new house.(renting). My fiancé and I luckily have SNAP and WIC while we are in this rough spot. However the money he makes doesnt stretch because bills, and many places around here charging large down payments. We likely won't be out of the hole until tax returns.

Unfortunately this means my little man will suffer. Although he is only 2 months, I don't want his first Christmas to be terrible. He has 1 toy. This would be amazing! We were thinking about just wrapping their gifts in brown paper bags, turn down the tops of the bags and write the kids' names on the bags. This would be so much more festive if possible, please.

The Total Money Makeover is a book based around (if I remember correctly) 6 baby steps to financial freedom. It guides you through saving up for emergencies, paying off debt, and making a budget you can stick with, all the way through saving for retirement and college for your children. It does have some Christian undertones, but I am not Christian and I didn't find it too preachy so it didn't really change the way I saw it.

Definitely check it out. Your local library might have it too!

Since someone else already gifted you a computer, I will point you toward the other part of your sons question (I work as a programmer).

First start with Scratch. It is absolutely perfect for your kid (in fact it was made to teach programming to pretty much an audience of his age and up), web based, and completely free* - available at https://scratch.mit.edu/ just make sure you are not near the computer when he gets to the part about playing a cat noise, since that is one annoying sound.

If, and when, he progresses beyond that and wants to develop something for real, send him to https://www.jetbrains.com/pycharm-edu/ it is a build of Jetbrains professional tool that they are making available for free, in a special configuration, suited for those learning to program.

Python is professional programming system (used to make, among other things, reddit), that is also suited for beginners, but this is not something your kid will be able to use for some years, so definitely start with Scratch. Python and Pycharm edu are both available completely for free**. There is also paid for version of Pycharm, but that won't be necessary until your kid is working as a programmer.

My daughter and I love going to the lake with our music, books, hammocks , and snacks. We usually hang out in our hammocks for a bit, then go on an "adventure" through the trails. She loves to explore, and I love watching her explore.
